For anyone who's never worn a kimono, know that the layers of gauze are not normal. They put that on her because she brought the wrong kind of undergarments for the kimono and so they basically DIY-ed it.
I'm not Japanese, but from what I can tell, padding actually does appear to be fairly normal under a wedding kimomo even in real weddings, under the nagajuban - at least in modern times. It's in every other real Japanese wedding video I watched before this one for research, and those were walkthroughs of real weddings at real Japanese shrines and what the brides ans grooms each do and wear. What I'm surprised by is the bright colors of this kimomo - all of the wedding kimonos i've seen were white, with an explanation that this was tradition, and I've found no mention that the use of white was an import from the West. She's also missing the large hat and proper hair style. Basically, she's missing all of the iconic parts that seem (to me, a foreigner doing research) to differenciate a bride from a normal, traditionally-dressed woman. Does anyone know if this a flaw on the demonstration's part, or is my understanding of a Japanese wedding so far wrong?
@@AlashiaTuol Pretty sure what you mentioned is the traditional garment for wedding in Shintoism, but nowadays since weddings are becoming increasingly secular wedding kimonos can also look like this - brightly coloured.

The reason may be because a lot of the time, she was speaking using keigo (I noticed some of the humble forms). Itasu/itashimasu is the keigo/humble form of suru/shimasu (to do). Keigo is a bit more advanced and quite complex, but it is understandable that it would be used to address the audience, the bride and the groom in this situation!

Thank you for that explanation. This happened at the wedding party of my wife (Japanese) and I (Canadian) when we returned to Japan to have a party for our Japanese relatives and friends. We married in Canada and her family was unable to travel so we had a second reception/party in Japan for her friends and relatives. That very polite gesture of welcoming the guests by sitting at the far end was lost on me then, but makes a lot of sense now.
Ive been following your channel for a while now and I feel you guys are a part of family to me.!!
Good to see you both together like this . I wish I could meet u guys in person .
Yeah! I'm sure this was an amazing experience for the two of you!
This is the wedding ceremony they never had! So sweet and emotional. I love this couple, especially Jun❤️
Her hair's color just match perfectly with the kimono's color :)) so beautiful
So that's what Japanese wedding looks likes eventually me and my gf (she is Japanese) are going to get married not sure in Japan or America lol
demonfox51321 really when?
I'd say, do it where you've got the most family. It's really expensive to have family fly over! Or just hold a party twice ;)
I would say do one kind and record it into a nice movie and play it for both families
Small, inexpensive wedding on the beach in Hawaii and then Japanese wedding!!! (Too late? Lol!)
i wanna get married like this too..
my gf is Japanese too but we gay so how would we do this 😔
I WANT TO HUG RACHEL SO HARD BECAUSE SHE IS SO CUTE AND BEAUTIFUL IN THAT KIMONO AAAAAAAAH 💕💕💕💕 the ceremony is so beautiful!!!!!!

Please tell me why I cried!! This was too cute and I couldn't help it especially when they said they've never had a wedding. I couldn't help but cry
一生に一度の花嫁衣装、外人さんが着ても素晴らしいの一言に尽きますね。

❤️❤️❤️ You two deserve this special highlight ceremony! So glad you both had the opportunity to show your REAL LOVE during this event for the educational benefit for all in attendance! Note how they rooted you all on! Much love and blessings for the both of you. We’re honored to share in your blessings! You did wonderfully! ❤️❤️❤️
When people say they love the video but haven't watched it yet... guess they know it's gonna be great!
I know this is just a skit but I'm so dreamy right now!!! 😍 You're really a match made in heaven. Lots of love for you both. 😘
Imagine if they brought Poki there. He would ruin it in no time XD

レイチェルさんって白人なのにめっちゃ着物似合っててびびった
My friends and I were there WAYYYY in the back, but you guys looked amazing!!! ^_^ Thank you so much for taking the time to come to our convention in NC, it's always a pleasure to attend your panels! ^_^
I love traditional clothes so much and specially for men, it's so cool and awesome when they wear it, they look so good ahah I want to try the Kimono or Yukata next time I visit Japan. You looked great and did well even if you were so nervous
I have soooo much Japanese to still learn. I tried to listen well and see if I could understand the Japanese but I could only understand a few words, but I guess that is still an achievement. I just have to keep studying my Japanese.
And i'm so glad you guys posted a video again!!!
i understand a bit too, rachel is still a pro though 😎
The reason may be because a lot of the time, she was speaking using keigo (I noticed some of the humble forms). Itasu/itashimasu is the keigo/humble form of suru/shimasu (to do). Keigo is a bit more advanced and quite complex, but it is understandable that it would be used to address the audience, the bride and the groom in this situation!
