Lower a Stuck Jack Without the Handle (Oops!)

- Опубліковано 26 бер 2022
- Did you just pull the handle out of your jack without the safety screw properly install? It happens to the best of us, and luckily there is an easy solution! Simply remove the metal cover and turn the release valve with a pair of pliers. Just be careful and don't drop the truck on yourself or anyone else!

Wes you are my hero. My vans tire popped and I spent 30 minutes trying different things to get my jack out before I found this video. Saved my sanity, my job, and maybe my life the way I was going.
That's awesome! I'm glad the video helped you out. Who knew I was out here saving lives? lol..
This is why I love the (GOOD part) of the internet. This video helped me out. Perfect thank you!
Thanks for the comment! I’m glad it helped you out
This exact thing just happened to me. My knee-jerk reaction was to run to my father's house to get his jack but a cooler head prevailed and a Google search brought me to this gem. The 3-ton Pittsburgh jack I have, also purchased from Harbor Freight, was nearly identical to your Daytona model. Thanks for the video!
It’s happened to a lot of us! I’m glad that it helped out
Lol, same! I have the 3 ton Pittsburgh and I didn't even think to lock it in.
I got my shit stuck under the skirt of my work van to where I couldn't even put the handle back in in the first place. Ended up needing a second jack and doing what you did got it out. Ty
I’m glad it helped out. Yeah my handle came out also and then I couldn’t get it back into the jack due to the angle..
Just used your same technique to get my Jack to cooperate. Apparently was overextended, thanks man you're a lifesaver!
I’m glad to hear it worked out!
Saved my life today! I had my wife's car blocked in the garage and the rear end of my car lifted by the pumpkin... So glad I looked for a help video. I owe you!
Hey, I’m glad it helped out!
Saved me too today. I couldn't contact the 1st male I knew. Appreciate your video. Thanks
i owe you my life…very frustrating situation when you’re stranded, changing a tire and the handle falls out.. i was honestly contemplating driving off the jack and dealing with the damages later …i love you. Thank you
Hey thanks! I’m super glad that this video helped you out.. I was in the same circumstance and couldn’t find anything out there. Had to get creative lol.. take care
I just want to say thankyou for uploading this video 😅 my slow self took out the handle without even thinking that it would lock 🤣 your a life saver I was just going to give up
Hey your welcome! I almost went out and bought another dang jack to get it unstuck before I thought of this. (I would have had to wait until the wife got home to drive me though!) lol
Yup, me too. Thanks. I took my handle out on purpose to break my crank pulley bolt. It worked great, went back to jack to find the handle part all the way up. DOH! Thanks again!
This was exactly what I needed I was so desperate and this was perfect thank you. A little side note. If it's a knuckle connection under the plate with a small gap the screwdriver used to remove the screws fits in nicely to make a solid hold and turn on the part to lower the jack.
Thankyou so much!!!!!!! Literally had this just happen and I’m in Wisconsin!!! Thankfully no snow but was completely lost you are a lifesaver 🙏🏾
Hey you’re welcome! I’m glad it worked out for ya
Thank you so much for the video bro! I had the exact same thing just happen to me and like you I could let find anything online except your video. Thank you you saved me so much time and so many mosquito bites.
Haha! Your welcome, I'm glad the video kept you from getting eaten up my mosquitos!
Came in clutch! Thought i was stuck but saw your video! Like other comments mentioned I did put the stands as close to the frame before lowering just as a safety precaution
Yeah that’s what I should have done. But just made the video real quick without thinking as I was in a jam! Glad it worked out though
Thank you so much. Simple really but was stressed out about being stranded with a jack stuck and couldn't think. You've saved me lots of worry
I’m glad it helped out!
Bruh, first time working on my truck, want to start learning and this happens…. I got so scared but this video gave me the confidence to get back at it! I don’t usually subscribe but you sir deserve that and more. Thank you !!!
Hey thanks for the comment. Stuff like that can happen to anybody. I'm glad the video was able to help you out though! You got this!
I took out the handle because I had my 4 year old boy playing around and didn’t want him to smash his face with the handle, when I say the thing go up I knew I was in trouble, until I found your video, life saver! Thank you!
You sir, are a rock star. Simple fix and back to work. Cant give you more than 1 like, so I guess I have to subscribe!
Haha thanks! I’m glad it helped out
Thank you! You saved the stress and time. I had the jack stuck and I couldn't get the bar underneath the car to lower it
Lol your welcome. I’m glad it helped out!
Your RAD! You really helped me out. I appreciate you the mostest for taking the time out of your day to help others, especially me Boss!
Glad I could help!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Side note: you may need to use vice clamps because I used regular pliers and they kept slipping. This trick worked perfectly though!!

Thanks, man! I was getting desperate. Popped the plate off and was able to spin the thing by sticking a screwdriver into the elbow joint.

I'm glad it helped out!
Thank you so much for this vid!!! Helped so much!
I have the daytona from HB too. The issue with mines is the handle doesn't rotate the hex thing inside anymore to lower the stand. So i can raise it but I have to manually release it from the same point you did (but I use a screw driver).
I'll tell you, it is definitely not ideal! I'm going to try and fix this first, before I invest in a new one.
Great tip! Thanks for the video
You Saved me bro. Thank you!
No problem, I’m glad it worked out for you!
Thank you! This happened to me just now and this is something I'll always use when this happens to me

Hey thanks for the comment! Glad it helped
Thank you 🙏🏾.
I wish I could give you more than one thumbs up! I only use my jack once.
Taking the jack apart, with a truck on it, without jack stands. That was a horrible idea. Some jacks fall really quick with a little turn.
You should have put your jack stands under the truck, as high up to the frame or front suspension as possible. The truck would have lowered a couple inches and stopped. Then you can reset the jack, and finish lowering it.
Sometimes I take the handle off, if it's a trip hazard. I've always been able to just stick a long screwdriver or breaker bar in it. Put your weight into it, from the end of the breaker bar. Once the handle hole is horizontal, wedge a screwdriver into the assembly while you put the handle back in. If I ever got really stuck, there's always the option of lifting it a little with another jack, but I have never needed to do that.
Agreed, hindsight ya know? I was in a jam and just went for it. Jack stands are 100% the way to go
Felt like such a dumbass leaving my 3 ton with my truck on the side of the road…. Took the handle out to make sure no one stole it. Not realizing this shit happens….. thank god for youtube.
Thanks bro you saved my life

Hey thanks! It’s happened to a lot of us it seems!
Thanks bud really saved my butt.👍
Hey your welcome!
Thank you!!!!
No problem. I’m glad it helped
Thanks mate
Happened to me. I just use leverage from a pry bar or breaker bar to bring down and reattach the handle. No need to unscrew the lid
That was my plan, except the bumper was in the way of being able to fit a pry bar or even a smaller jack handle into it..
Awesome man!
Thank you.
Thanks!
No problem!
Great video. But can we talk about that awesome grill.
Lifesaver 🤣 Except for some reason i couldnt twist and release, the handle just kept spinning for some reason
Interesting. Hopefully you were able to get it sorted out
@@WesleyAllenNC Yup, i just had to manually spin the release like you did in the video
