@@PhysiquePablo It happened this morning and I have zero tolerance for malfunctioning equipment so I’m here. Should have realized it could be that simple but I was envisioning something bent after Marvel didn’t help…
I will try this tomorrow. It's the only video remotely close to what I think I need. Mine is doing the same thing, but I'm pretty sure my particular issue is that I tripped/triggered the safely overload valve. So it's stuck shut. Perhaps the more common definition could be stuck piston, but the reason it's stuck is due to the safety feature. Appreciate the content. Hope it works for me.
Coincidentally, I have a jack with the same brand, or supplier, with the same problem. I was about to get rid of it, as to send it to a repair shop would be more than half the cost of a new jack. But then I thought, " I wonder has anybody had this issue with a two pump floor jack," so I looked up this problem here, and what do you know, there you are .I will try this repair tomorrow, hopefully this will fix my jack too. Thanks for the video.
Thank you very much! My right Piston was pushed all the way down, did eveything you did. My 2.5 ton jack lifts up now ! Now I can install these rims I bought!!! Thanks!!!!
only video i found addressing the same primary issue with a floor jack i've been working to restore. also had the right side plunger/piston stuck - except the plunger was much much harder to free from the piston it had seized inside of (seemingly due to corrosion, scoring, or slight deformation of the cylinder or plunger resulting from overloading. nothing that's visible to the naked eye however. will try try using hydraulic jack oil to re-insert the plunger, as you have. dry or with other lubricant i may have used, has not allowed it to slide back in.
I have the same problem were you ever able to get it back in? For me its the larger side wont go back in and i cant seem to find a replacement for the larger size piston online
My right piston was stuck so I did what you suggested and took them both out to clean them. The right piston is still not functioning as the bigger left piston. The left piston bounces back up when you push it down, however the right side is not coming back up at all and takes a lot of force to get it back out again. Any idea why this is happening? I have a 3ton Motomaster.
First, check if there is any irregularities in the shaft that obstructs. If your shaft is clean and lubricated the piston should move about freely. Then check if fluid is flowing to the piston. A blocked passage will stop the fluid from getting to the piston and pushing it up. Good luck!
@@Pen_Pusher Taking a closer look at the piston it self...it looked a bit bent out of shape. No idea how the heck that would ever happen? But it is so..... Thank you for replying!
Hey anyone have any ideas? - The same piston keeps getting stuck over and over again. I clean it and it works for a little while (like 3 months) then gets stuck again.
@@Pen_Pusher 1:33. The piston is stuck at the bottom, and I cannot pull it with my hands, I even tried to use a hammer, moving, up and down, left and right, it's seized looks like
You should wear gloves so not touch those parts, pistons, dust covers, cylinders etc. with your hands. Cos it contains lead enough to make them slippery against wear caused by friction.
@@Pen_Pusher It has to be the spring getting caught between 2 cylindrical "sleeves". If u can reduce the ID and OD of the spring, it might get the problem fixed. Or stretch the spring so that it gets more bouncy to overcome.
@@Pen_Pusher I actually rebuilt mine. It was the piston stuck. The tolerant is so tight that any dirt, grit, rust getting in there will stop the piston from moving. I would not have looked that deep without your video. Thanks for creating videos to help people. I was very close to trashing that and buying a new one. THANKS AGAIN.
Thank you for the help, can't believe I been using a screw driver to push the spring back for past couple years
Hey, whatever gets the job done... 😊
I’m right there with you bro…years…
lmao wow i’ve been doing the same too

Thank you saved me 200$ on a new Jack was gonna sell mine for 40$ thanks!

Omg i have the same problem, but was afraid to attack it.....your video showed it wasn't so bad. Thanks!
Don't attack.. just repair it

I am about to fix mine after watching this video. Dragging it through dirt and mud and gravel driveway is how i messed mine up.
Thank you for taking the time to do this. It was a big help, brother!
You're welcome!
Thanks man! My jack had been doing that for like 2-3 years & this video helped me get it running like new! You earned a subscription 👏

If it came out there it should go back in there. (If nothing else has changed, of course.)

Maybe you solved it in the last month but a quick polish with 600 wet&dry might solve it
I have same problem with same jack except mine came from Harbor freight but same piston sticking , I’ll drain fluid and pull that piston Great video…
I think this is a common problem. Good luck with your repair!
Great rundown! Easy to follow and simple fix! Thx!
Thanks for the comment Mike! :)
Awesome video Thank you!!!
You saved me from getting rid of two Jacks!!!

Thank you for this video! Just did it on my jack and it worked
Great. One less problem to deal with!
Thanks for helping me fixing my jack

Glad it helped!
mine was sticking due to a dent in the spring cover cap, it was not letting the spring push the piston out.
Okay, that makes sense. I suppose you fixed the dent and got it working again!
I have the same dent in my cap!!! How did you get it out?
What if I cant pull mine out? It's stuck really hard inside and cant even be pulled out.
It is designed to go in and out. If you can't pull it out you have a structural issue and this video will not help you. :)
Earned a like and a subscribe from me. My jacking is working great now
I can’t pull it back with my hand, The stuck piston. What do I do?

Thanks. Nice guns!
They make jack oil too? They just seem to find different ways to rid us off. Just some engine oil will do!
I guess its your jack you can use any oil you want. :)
No.
Hydraulic oil is different, like brake fluid is different than engine oil. Much lighter fluid.
Don’t be silly.
Found one in dumpster and noticed one stuck valve.must be common problem
Yes, common problem. Good for you getting one from the dumpster!
You didnt drain thw cylin der first
Hi Oliver, the oil in there is still good and doesn't need to be replaced. It is just a fill and bleed. :)
You should wear gloves so not touch those parts, pistons, dust covers, cylinders etc. with your hands. Cos it contains lead enough to make them slippery against wear caused by friction.
Something else must have causing the stuck. No way a little dirt would stop the spring from pushing the piston up.
I agree. :)
