Thank you for your service! Med retired army here...having the same issue but haven't dug in to find the separation problem. And yes, rolled mine too. Seatbelt on and only a shattered hip. I'll turn some wrenches this fall.
Unfortunately, I lost most of the footage of the full job. But, if you have any questions as you go through the process, let me know. It was pretty easy, and I'm not a mechanic.
Thanks for the video and you did an excellent job. My brother has that 1025 R with loader about that same year so I watched to see what's in there. Nice tractors but I'll stick with my nice 1984 750, 4wd. with p.s., #64 loader and turf tires.
this is happening on my on my 2017 John deere 1025R as well. I have a question. . . . .Do ya or are ya or can ya, supposed pack the round bearings with grease of anykind fore ya put em back in their seat positions??? And if one were to pack the bearings, what would the gear oil lube do to the greased thats packed in the bearings??? Any bearing that ive ever had to mess with, they had to be packed!
What are your thoughts on Hydro fluid vs something heavier like diff fluid ? I feel the front axle is over stressed easily and a heavy fluid might help. Thoughts ?
Hard to say. The entire final drive is soaking in the fluid. Heavier fluid might cause some resistance, but it's probably not noticeable. I will say that I noticed zero wear or damage on any gears or bearings after 600hrs. My fluid was black too! So, the hygard is probably just fine.
It was a huge pain! I used screw drivers, little pry bars and partially cut it with my electric Dremel and cutter wheel! There's no easy answer. Just be extremely careful to not cut/ding the metal that butts up to the seal.
In my opinion....bearings should always face up where they can be read...thinking being you can get the part on order before you remove one. Just an opinion.

This is the most helpful video that I've seen. My spindle just started leaking like crazy, so now I know how to fix it. Thank you for this.
Great video, thanks for posting! I have the same issue with my 1023E, will be replacing the seal this week.
Excellent video and perfect for me. I also have a 2016 1025R with the exact same problem. Can’t wait for your more in-depth video

@@mymorristribe perfect thank you
Thank you. You made my day the only video I found with the information I needed.

Can't go wrong with pretty much any John Deere tractor!
I’m curious as to why you removed the pinion gear.
The seal install doesn’t require that item to be removed.

@@truckerray7533 Definitely no grease. They are oiled with the gear oil.

How do you get the old seal out?

@@mymorristribe Was this the most difficult part? How difficult was installing the new seal? Did you replace any parts other than the seal?
@@DavidTaylor24 Getting it out was hard. Putting the new one in was a cinch.
@@DavidTaylor24 I only replaced the seals. Everything else was in perfect shape.
How many hours do you have on your tractor ?
Just over 600.

Solid reasoning.
