Great video. I'm just getting ready to replace this stuff on my b7500 tomorrow.
I would Tape, paper the part and paint it before re-install. much easier that way. If you paint it before you put the rubber seal in here is a way for it to dry more quickly and harder. Turn oven on to 180°, remove paper and tape, place part in oven, turn oven off and let part sit there overnight. you'll be surprised at how nice it turns out.
I went thru the exact same thing as you, B7500. I needed help as I just couldn't reinstall the bevel gear. Mine cracked in the same area. I can also add, Behr Orion gray paint is a pretty good match. $6 vs. $25 for Kubota gray.
You can't even get that angry about this one. It wasn't obvious and usually the bad seal diagnosis would have been the right one. Live and learn. I really appreciate you posting this and the original repair, I need to do one on my b21.
This is why my master mechanic friend is always so adamant about tracking down leaks. He keeps cleaning the area, running it, and looking till he sees exact source. In this case, no one could have found it till disassembly no matter what. You know the saying about what happens when you assume lol.
Weld it anyways and stick it in your parts pile. Incase we can't get new parts for some reason in the future.

Wow just watched the other video. Then it lead me to this one. Thanks will keep a lookout for that problem. Both of mine are leaking it started slowly but increased over the past couple of years. Now they leak too much. Time to get seals and get some work done. The manual says I can use either oil but I'll think I'll switch to the heavy like you use for the leakage help.
Glad you ran into this one as well! Definitely something to check for when you have it all apart! Could have saved myself a lot of time if I found that correct the first time. And yeah, it's not like it's a high speed differential so I think that the heavier weight oil is an excellent upgrade. More cushion between the gears

I think you are a good mechanic and few if any mechanics would have found the crack in the housing unless they were looking for it.
Dont give him too much credit. He only found it after doing seals, it still leaking, and specifically looking for the leak. I still think he's a good mechanic, we all make mistakes and this was not obvious. The vast majority of the time, his diagnosis of just needing seals would've been correct.
I had a trans line leak on a f350, replaced the wrong one first. There was two lines running along side each other, from trans to cooler. One line had a pinhole in a tight spot I couldn't see, and was squirting fluid neatly onto the other line and running down it. I replaced the line that was soaked and dripping.... WRONG lol. It was so weird, I didnt even get that mad about it. At least it only cost me another $15 for a steel line and another 1/2 hr laying under the truck.
Have a jd1025r with a leak in the same place (as well as the L outer sd of hydraulic steering cylinder ... I'm assuming there's a seal/ring in there that needs replacing). I haven't torn into the knuckle yet, doing it soon, hopefully it's just a worn seal and there's no crack. She is however lookin like the source of the leak is in the same location as yours (on the backside). Time will tell.
Also on a different 1025r I noticed the nut (?castle nut?) securing the hydraulic steering cylinder end (to the left bevel gear housing) is wet. Looks as though there's a leak originating from up in there. Not exactly sure yet but dried it off and keeping an eye on it. Anyhow.

I did the 800 hour service on my B 26. I adjusted the toe in as part of the service. My left seal started leaking? I also had the front wheels up in the air a couple of times. I gave it a couple of days and a work out and it stopped. Some how I disrupted that seal.
Any recommendations on knowing how to check for cracks? Other than scratchy surface would you put fluid in and see if it leaks around?

Can you please help me? I have a BX2230 and the other day I went out to my driveway and there was a stream of hydraulic fluid running down the driveway. I just got this tractor and do not abuse it at all. But unlike your tractor when I jacked up the rear of the tractor I could clearly see that the dripping was coming from somewhere right near the front of the rear RIGHT back tire. Could the back tire have the same issue as yours? And is that hydraulic fluid in your hub or is that something else? Mine is definitely hydraulic fluid. I’d really appreciate anyone who could help. Thank you 🙏

Chris, could you give an update on how the seals are doing. My 2002 B7500 both seals are leaking (seeping) . Keep up the awesome content.

@@fraydnot it seems like they all start sleeping after a couple hundred hours. But the seepage is not much of a problem. Only if they start leaking bad. But yeah heck might as well take care of them if you want to keep her clean and maintained.

Attempting that would be completely not worth it when you can buy a new one for a reasonable price. And it would fail again for sure. That part takes a lot of abuse and force.
This is why you don't dig with your FEL.
I don't think that's what caused the crack in the knuckle
I dont think digging is the issue either. Heavy load in the bucket and going over rough ground would be my guess.
@@BS.-.- If he doesn't dig then it's not. The force is the same either way. The seals just don't hold up to the work a tractor of this seize is meant for. It's a major fault on this model.

@@steveashcraft718 I've known a couple people that had this happen. Coincidentally, both of them had added spacers to the hydraulic pump as they didn't think they had enough lift capacity with their FEL.
