1025R Turbo seized!! Back to stock for now
Переглядів 6888 місяців тому
On 10 Jan, my boys told me the tractor started throwing black smoke. This is after about 70hrs of use with the turbo on my 2016 1025R with 680hrs. On 12 Jan, they told me it also seemed to have lost all power. Today, 13 Jan, I tore into it only to find the turbo all seized up. But, not to fear, hydrosplus will fix me right up! I have this kit: hydrosplus.com/shop/ols/products/hydrosplus-turbo-j...

I just noticed this issue today, 12/30/23, while doing some maintenance. I've since emailed hydrosplus, and I'm confident Kevin will make things right. No biggie. I still love my hydrosplus.com turbo.

I just got this blower for my 2025R. Havnt used it yet but have taken it on and off 3 or 4 times. A couple things to note: For the wing nut pin for the blower there is a hole under the A frame top mount pin on the tractor side for storage On my dealer installed 3 point, all bearings are mounted on the inside of the plate. Opposite of how you have them. And this may be a difference between 10 and 2025’s but I don’t have to remove or hinge the pto cover. I just flip the green portion of the hitch toward the black A frame, place the green bracket on top of the cover, slide it back, angle it around a bit to install the hydro cylinder, then install the long bar through it. Then install the top link
Thank you. I fixed it in no time. Didn't even jacket ot disengage the 4x4 . I just took off 9the the cover. Adjusted the bolt forward. It took 3 tries all done. It was a 15mm and a Cresent wrench. Thank you.
Cool. Yeah, it's not a hard fix for an annoying problem.
I just fixed my dryer. Thanks for the high quality tutorial!
Glad it helped. Hopefully, your heating elements last longer than mine did. Got to the point I replaced one every 6 months--after the 5th, I got a new dryer. Had it for 10yrs though.
I rate this video 10/10
Me too!
Thanks for the video, Remember You don't want to give people any crazy ideas so Please don't grab any drive shaft when it's turning even with the cover.
Wise advice. I'm fairly reckless in general.
Thanks for the video, you need a 5/8 wrench for that bolt and it did come across as a little ruff on the video when you did the full throttle, maybe check your air cleaner.
I'm at 8500' elevation and although I had the turbo, I have to play around with the fuel screw to really tune it right. It's running much better now. Air filter was dirty as well as my fuel filter. Never enough time for all my projects!
Where are you located?
Just outside of Los Alamos, NM. Text or call me (evenings) at 951-972-6882 if you want.
Very cool though. Mine creeps some.
It's called a asentric bolt. Literally not centered.
Nice! Learned something new today. Thanks.
We need a turbo update !
After replacing the failed one with the new one, I've put probably 60-80hrs on it without issues. Working great! I would buy the kit all over all again.
Thankya for your service, Captain Morris, Sir! I was US Navy. . . .Naval Aviation! Jet engine mechanic! Worked on S3-Alpha/ Bravo Vikings air anti-submarine warfare multi-sorti aircraft! A.K.A., . . . . "The Hoover"
I was an Amtracker (AAV officer), but unfortunately, didn't spend more than 2-3 nights on a ship. Most of my time was in the desert. Wish I'd had more ship time.
Theres gonnuh be alot of vibration with that front drive shaft! I would think it needs to be shaved & balanced! Its gonnuh shake things apart!
There's zero vibration. I've put my fingers on it while the tractor is idling and it's dead straight. Any weight discrepancy is too minor to notice. Even at full throttle it's completely smooth. I kinda feel I lucked out, but I was expecting to have to balance it. But, it works perfect.
Copy that ! Yeah my 1025R is the full FILB package! I see you're a" Devil Dog"!
Yep...Amtracker....although, that's an old pic. lol
I need to make a set up chaines for my lil Johnny
If you add a spacer to the front AND you have the backhoe sub-frame, then the front/wheels+chains will rub on the subframe where it attaches to the front loader mount. For that reason, I didn't end up running chains up front.
You need to give Kramer a call and have him send you a manziere, those C cups need some support!😀
Thanx for the great video and this is exactly what mine is doing and I just replaced that cylinder that stripped out just like you mentioned
take the bolts out, take one bolt with ya to the hardware store, & get some shorter length bolts! Make sure you get the same grade & the same thread pattern! Tractor safe, man🚜👍🏻
Ended up just cutting them shorter. In the end, I moved those spacers to the rear tires and decided just to not use chains up front in the winter.
Thanks for the fix. my 2018 has been creeping for about a year. The only issue i have had since i bought it. Live too far from the nearest dealer shop to take it in to be fix. Glad i found your video. Easy fix. Thanks......New subscriber
This is the most helpful video that I've seen. My spindle just started leaking like crazy, so now I know how to fix it. Thank you for this.
this is happening on my on my 2017 John deere 1025R as well. I have a question. . . . .Do ya or are ya or can ya, supposed pack the round bearings with grease of anykind fore ya put em back in their seat positions??? And if one were to pack the bearings, what would the gear oil lube do to the greased thats packed in the bearings??? Any bearing that ive ever had to mess with, they had to be packed!
@@truckerray7533 Definitely no grease. They are oiled with the gear oil.
Thank you so much for posting
Can verify a 2006 gmc seirra crew cab will not fit with wheels on the trailer 🤣 found out the hard way after driving 500+miles
Bummer. That sucks!
Nice work on the cables
It’s just a lawn mower with a bucket
You must not have used a 1025r before, it's more of a tractor than a mower. It's a compact beast. Great work horse
Weighs about 2500lbs in this configuration.
why not take the front off seems much easier
People do it that way too. I tried it once. Seems a little harder to me but I've done it this way 5-6 times now. Heating elements don't last.
What was the max boost set to when running it for 70 hours?
I don't know. There's no adjust for that. Whatever it comes with I guess. Good question for hydrosplus.com which is where I bought it.
You made it look easy. Thanks for the info to NOT start it soon after its been righted.
All you folks making fun of dude need to chill. Tell me you’ve never made a bad mistake or done something stupid. At least he had the guts to put his mistake out there for the rest of us to learn from it.
Bucket up, time to lay down.
My snowblower is 9 years old and has more paint on it than yours. What are you blowing out there in New Mexico? Sand? Rocks? Bent auger, snapped driveshaft, more damage on the mount, welded plates to the skids? I wouldn't give you a $1000 for that POS! Looks to me like you don't take care of your equipment. Tractor tipped over on it's side, no engine covers, engine smokes excessively, seized up Turbo...I hope no one buys that because they will pay in the long run. Sorry but I see a snow job here...no pun intended....I hate seeing good people being taken advantage of....Never knew it snowed in NM...not that I've ever thought about it....
It runs perfect as shown. Sand and rocks and ice mixed in with snow, yep, in the mountains of northern NM. But that's why I bought the HD model--for commercial use. The thing is a beast and will serve anyone for years. If I wasn't legit, I wouldn't disclose all that I have. Haters gonna hate.
Do you have a paved driveway ?
Just the fact that he calls it "an orange thing" is reason enough that these people shouldn't own a tractor
That’s called the centric adjustment bolt you should lift right wheel off ground as you turn centric
What the heck when he reved it up it was not smooth at all
Seemed to rev smooth to me, but I am at 8000ft elevation so that might affect it
How long was that trailer
Pretty sure it was this one: www.uhaul.com/Trailers/Auto-Transport-Rental/AT/
Many thanks, Jonathan! Your instructions were spot-on. Took me about 1/2 hour to fix mine. That eccentric nut is VERY sensitive, as you showed. Took me a few tries to get it locked in place, plus the nut on the back side of mine (14mm) was loose, which may have contributed to the creeping. Thanks again from central Michigan.
Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate that.
'Promosm' ⭐
I've replaced mine now 3 times ... hopefully this time we don't set it on sanitize ever again hahah
I finally broke down and bought the oem heater for my 3rd one. Fingers crossed it works longer than the junk Amazon ones I had been buying. But, I keep a spare on hand now. lol
So how you book get from Uhaul to rent it every time I tried they say it’s not recommended is there a trick to rent it AT like not providing correct info or what ?
I couldn't get it from actual Uhaul place (since I'm not willing to lie), but I found a private company "pawn shop" that had some side gig renting uhauls. He didn't ask any questions. lol
Excellent video and perfect for me. I also have a 2016 1025R with the exact same problem. Can’t wait for your more in-depth video
Unfortunately, I lost most of the footage of the full job. But, if you have any questions as you go through the process, let me know. It was pretty easy, and I'm not a mechanic.
@@mymorristribe perfect thank you
Always count your blessings. I am glad to see that No one was hurt. It might be difficult to stomach the repair bill but that is nothing compared to serious injury.
Fortunately, it only cost me an hour or so of labor to pull the injectors and blow out the oil. Didn't even leave a scratch. Still, I was blessed to not get hurt.
Try that with a 2015-2020 suburban
Yeah, the extra 2" might make a difference as it was very close already.
Always do this job from the front.. doing it from the back is harder.. A+ for effort!
Thanks. The next time it burned out (10mo later), I tried it from the front. It's easier to remove the heating element, but it's definitely more disassembly. 3rd time I went through the back again, but this time with an OEM element. Hopefully, that lasts longer.
What year is your tractor?
2016
I ask because i found you by searching for ring gear seal replacement tips. Watched your video on that then watched some of your other content and found this video with the HD loader. When I was shopping for a snowblower for my 2015 last year my dealer told me the HD blower wouldn’t fit on a 1025 2017 or older. Was he correct and you did some customizing or was he wrong and it mounted right up? Thanks for the first response I appreciate it.
Sorry not loader…. HD Blower lol
@@nhdetailpro He was completely wrong. It fit fine with no mods. I'm actually moving back to Florida, so if you are interested, I could sell you mine. I'm in NM.
@@mymorristribe good for you snow stink’s anyway! I’m in NH and even if I were close I bought the standard quick hitch blower. Would love the upgrade though!
Link to this or where you bought it? The ones I'm finding are for the larger Deeres.
This is what you are looking for: www.deere.com/en/attachments-accessories-and-implements/utility-tractors-attachments-accessories/snow-removal-equipment/54-hd-snowblower/ I ordered mine from Desert Greens Equipment in Albuquerque, but any JD Dealer should be able to order it. The blower + front 3pt hitch cost me $7400, so it ain't cheap. I was also quoted $5300 for the older style blower.
@@mymorristribe Thank you
Thanks from Clayton, NY. You saved me hours in research, same problem
But I also laid over a Case 305 with a land pride batwing and the boss man drove it out the ditch 😅😂
Pushin' the limits too eh! I see we're on the same page. lol
Just use the bucket I've turned a 1023e over more than once and never got off the tractor lol
It wouldn't run/start while tipped due to hydrolocking. Had to pull the injectors and blow out the oil on top of the cylinders to get it to start again.
TY TY TY TY TY!!!!!! Great video, EXACTLY my problem and great demo of the complete system.
Maybe a silly question, but with this front mount system. Am I stuck with this John deere blower or can I get any manufacturer blower that is a 3pt hitch and appropriately sized ?
That's a great question. I don't know. The 3-pt hitch up front has different dimensions from a 3-pt rear hitch. You'd also need a drive shaft > PTO shaft connection that was compatible with a 1025R. For now, you likely only have this option. The blower is a beast, but having the lower drive shaft assembly installed removed the ability to easily install/remove the loader since the load "kickstand" hits the lower bearing assembly which holds the drive shaft where the front PTO shaft connects. Overall, it's a great blower. I have plowed for probably 50-60hrs this winter on gravel, dirt roads. Due to tons of big rocks and frozen mud chunks, I've broken probably 40 shear bolts so far and the horizontal auger has even bent in places, but it continues to throw snow. Yesterday, I plowed 12-13" of heavy wet snow over about 10 miles of dirt roads in our mountains. It took me 12hrs and two full tanks of diesel, 8-10 shear pins, and 3 clogged chutes (wet snow) to get it all done, but the thing ate all that snow like a beast.
How to almost flip it back over correctly, shy of nothing stopping it from moving or the strap from decapitating you if it broke. But, great tutorial on how to hydro lock a very expensive little diesel and bend, break or warp almost every moving part in it. All of which could have been prevented with about 10 minutes of work with common hand tools!
eh, it's a 13000lb winch righting a 3000lb tractor. Nothing was going to snap. But, you are right about the hydrolock issue. I had never heard of that before. It took me an hour to pull the 3 injectors, turn over the engine, blow oil all over my driveway (lol....more learning occurred there) and put it all back together. I've put about 350hrs on the tractor since then and it's been fine. Hope you were entertained. Cheers!
@@mymorristribe Never, ever, trust a winch! I don't care what it's rated at! Especially, the cables. They snap all the time on people. They should be replaced periodically, but people never do it. They shouldn't have steel cables, but usually do. You needed some weight on the cable itself to prevent it from decapitating you if the cable snapped. I may not seem likely, but it does happen, quite a bit. Even just throwing some floor mats across the cable can arrest its travel enough to prevent death.
