Cronometer is an excellent user-friendly calorie & macro-tracking app, with more focus on micronutrients and better recipe creation & sharing functionality than MyFitnessPal. It has great community support and has more realistic & customizable options for calorie intake, even in the free version.

I have used Cronometer for a few years. I have noticed that within the last year it is being inundated with user added entries that are watering it down. Those entries are not complete like they used to be and there are fewer and fewer USDA entries showing up. Even for simple vegetables. I have been on Gold most of the time. I can no longer set up meal plans for complete nutrients without adding and removing numerous foods to find the few showing all nutrients in the food. They really need to clean up their database. It appears their "validation" is not taking place.

Interesting. I will send your comment over to the CEO, Aaron Davidson. I just interviewed him for the channel and he went into great detail about their verification process. So I'm curious what's happening here. Personally though, I'm not experiencing what you are, and after testing 18 apps I still find Cronometer's database to be excellent.

@@feast_good I love Cronometer and think it is the best app showing all vitamins and minerals, if the food input has it. I have not found any other that can take an apple and show you all nutrients in it. I had asked quite a few years ago and received permission to use it for coaching and provided a guide I had created. I did not want to overstep or run into any copy rights. They were thrilled about it. Using Cronometer I could create weekly meal plans ensuring 100% nutrient intake. Now, looking for vitamin type drinks/meal replacement shakes is overwhelming. Two popular ones are Heul and Shakeology. There are so many now showing and they show varying nutrients. Especially for the latter. I am sure this is because of the customer entries. Some other natural foods are also showing multiple entries. I think it is important to get beyond calories, fat,and carbs. The body needs everything for repair and function. Thank you for passing on my concern. That is above and beyond. I just add this "novel" for more detail.

I have loved cronometer, even though I don't use it consistently. One thing that is annoying, though, is that I can't find any food (salmon, mackerel, sardines, fish oil supplements) that registers ANYTHING for Omega 3. It always shows zero. I've reported this twice but nothing has changed. (I have the gold version.)

I don't spend a lot of time in this report, but this will have more information on how to read it: support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018348631-Nutrient-Balances

Cronometer claims that their macros are more accurate, meaning sometimes 1g of carbs, for example, isn’t always 4 calories. Sometimes it’s less than or more than. They do not provide any way to identify what food items has more or less calories per gram of protein/carbs/fats.
This makes it impossible to put your daily meals together.

Can you link wherever you're getting this information, i.e. "cronometer claims their macros are more accurate"? I can do some digging too.

    Crono or macrofactor

Tough call. If you want a straight-up macro tracker, the best on the market is MacroFactor. It's better than anything I've seen across all the apps I've tested. If you want to create custom dashboards/graphs of different health and nutrition metrics, then Cronometer. I also think Cronometer is better if you work with a nutrition coach as it's a better interface to communicate and share info with a coach.

Seriously?!! One QUARTER of the entire video is "Oh, I did this testing and now I'm gonna tell you what my findings were"

I'm sorry, we're new to UA-cam and are trying to find the best format. We feel it's important to tell people that we actually tested it and that we tested it alongside experts in the industry. But maybe it was overblown. We'll keep working on more effective communication 🤝
