Update: Nintendo took it down The worst part is that they could have done what Bethesda did with the Elder Scrolls series. There's a group making Skywind and Skyblivion (Morrowind and Oblivion recreated in the Skyrim game engine) and Bethesda said they can release it as long as they don't use *any* assets from the original game, but the engine is free to use for them. They've taken on a team of voice actors, 3D artists, animators, you name it to create it, but only because Bethesda saw the passion they had for their old games and wanted to give them an opportunity to express their passion to the world. Nintendo, on the other hand, has such a tight grip on their IP's and is so controlling of them that they refuse to work with passionate fans to bring creations like this to life. Instead, they hit them with legal trouble. Truly a sad state Nintendo has become.
@Cylant Justice yeah but they have Zelda. And it is literally the best game ever. Don’t misunderstand me, this looks beautiful, but i think nintendo would ever do a game in this style because they always try their best to create timeless games that still look nice 20 years later through a „simple“ style. And as beautiful as this demo looks, it will never become reality...
I dont understand how I can be so excited and so disappointed at the same time. Yeah there are a lot of visual effects added, but somthing with the models and textures makes the realism extremely unbalanced in a lot of areas. Yes a lot of work has gone into this obviously, but it looks like a whole lot more will have to be done before it can be considered a fully polished remake, and that is just what I've seen done so far.
Because there is not a real art direction, just downloaded models that are put together (like the pinapple as a monster). Some parts are realistic models, and some not and that really looks weird (the animation and such is not the best, but for a single guy I think is ok, there so much one person can do). CryZENx do a lot of work and has his own merit, but he does not have an cohesive art direction.
It's one guy is it not? What more do you want? Yeesh, if people want it maybe people can find ways to help, not say how dissapointing it is..I mean, they never HAD to do it at all, if people are gonna act a fool about it, if I were him I'd stop trying entirely, and then laugh as people cry about it. And it's not even finished anyways, and shouldn't be if people are going to start being their typical, ungrateful human selves.

I hear you mate. The uber hd vidya of today is hard to fathom. I still play mostly old games because they feel more impassioned to me although that is probably the nostalgia talking. I feel spoiled playing Spyro remastered and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. This blows BOTW outta the water

You might be surprised (like I was) what it actually looked like back then. All the footage nowa days is emulated but if you put a n64 cartridge on a crt like I did last year you will be shocked how much worse it is than you could even imagine. @@yeyokermit6442 I'm sure he used a lot of store assets (I mean, that's what they are for) but do you really think all the animations and characters and such are on the marketplace? The coding for all the game logic? The set dressing and level design? You make it sound like the entirety of ocarina of Time from the programming to every model and animation is on the store, and anyone can slap them together which is not the case at all. That being said, there's definitely a lot of room for improvement but for a single Dev as a hobby project it's great
@@Aussie.Owlcoholic Animations are also assets you can use. That’s their purpose, I understand that, everyone can use it but here comes the question, is it really better than the official remake Nintendo made “Oot 3D! the answer is: No, it’s not even close. Oot 3d for example, follows a consistent art style, the music uses the same instruments as the original yet uncompressed and the list goes on. Oot 3d celebrates the original the way it’s deserved. There comes another problem with using stock assets, you can’t have a consistent art style which is exactly the case on this one. No company should hire someone with these skills.
@@yeyokermit6442 Totally agree with you. To make something playeble is really a nice feature, but this project has no real art direction or at least models with a cohesive art-style. Most of this are copy-pasted assets and it shows. There is also not level design in this work (and I don't think he try to make it look like it). There are better work (design-wise) that does not get enough attention like the ones from 'Yianni Papazis' and 'How I remember' that reimagine the places and have a consistent art-style.
@@yeyokermit6442 oh I definitely agree with you, and yeah I know animations are something you can buy, I use UE4 almost daily. But the animations in this don't look like marketplace bought assets, especially the enemies and such. My point was just that I think more credit should be given than just 'he slapped assets together'. But in terms of it being a good remake? I think it's a good FAN remake, especially for a single Dev, but I do believe that the graphics style doesn't fit the game. There's definitely a disconnect between the stylized and realistic elements. If this was official I wouldn't like it, but as a fan project I applaud the efforts :)

Perhaps my biggest disappointment with Nintendo is that they don't seem to appreciate the genius of their super fans especially the likes of the creator Cryzenx and some other talented video game designer super fans that made hacked versions of the game, comes to show they are missing out on some spectacular talent out there. This version actually looks a lot better then Breath of the Wild in the Switch. It is a shame it isn't a real game and only a simulation of a fan made genius unreal engine 4 design.
Their super fans could use that talent to make their own games then? Why are some of you acting like Nintendo hasn't quality devs to choose from, either their own or from partners? It's hardly even a game, so it looking "better", though debatable, shouldn't be surprising.
@@NuiYabuko I am just saying that it is a shame that Nintendo doesn't appreciate talent like this or others out there. They actually deserve to be hired to make official Nintendo games.
It's amazing as someone who grew up with ocarina and Majora I can find myself playing this late and having a whole new experience with it. Awesome job to the people who put in the additional hours along with the original creators
only visually it's 'sometimes' ok*, but it's lifeless. no art decision nor did he put the actual effort into the models. the hud looks horrible too. nintendo is known for timeless games. the graphics don't age and you can still until this day play some of em old games and they look good because it's not suppose to look realistic it never was intended to do so

Update: Nintendo took it down
The worst part is that they could have done what Bethesda did with the Elder Scrolls series.

I am so sorry to say that I am feeling the same way :(
Because there is not a real art direction, just downloaded models that are put together (like the pinapple as a monster). Some parts are realistic models, and some not and that really looks weird (the animation and such is not the best, but for a single guy I think is ok, there so much one person can do). CryZENx do a lot of work and has his own merit, but he does not have an cohesive art direction.
Because it has no life. Visually good, but no style whatsoever.

I think it's a good FAN remake, especially for a single Dev, but I do believe that the graphics style doesn't fit the game. There's definitely a disconnect between the stylized and realistic elements. If this was official I wouldn't like it, but as a fan project I applaud the efforts :)
