Somewhere around the time of A Link Between Worlds, this song began feeling very tragic. It has taken on a wistful, almost melancholy nature. How many times will Link and Zelda come face to face, without recognizing each other, to save the world? Will they or their ancestors/reincarnations ever have peace?
It's that cycle of reincarnation, where the one with the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero come together to repel the hate of the demon. It is because of this that Hyrule is allowed to continue to exist. Even after Hyrule is drowned beneath the ocean, the same forces will continue to resurface until time itself crumbles to dust, in the constant struggle of the light versus the darkness. It is only fitting that the song that is derived from the song that awakens the powers of the goddess should be a somber melody, as it represents this ceaseless cycle that ensures a brighter tomorrow for the rest of Hyrule.
@@lucasmaloneywordsmith8661 it's blood of the goddess and spirit of the hero, not the other way around lol
@@osmofina Yes, that, you are correct.
It already sounded emotional with Ocarina of Time
its no the jedi way
That interaction between Link and Zelda in Skyward Sword is so cute, and the way Link looks at Zelda
Of course that's not the scene but yeah
I know :((
I bet on a new Zelda game that Link has a crush on her!
I love how Ocarina of Time has an innocent vibe to it, which plays well with how Link and Zelda meet in the courtyard
… until the end, when it’s just tragic.
I'm going to have to go with Age of Calamity. Not only because it just induces tears when you hear it in the game, but its context and history make it more impactful. It also doesn't hurt that it was an actual lullaby for Zelda.
Never noticed that but youre right its played by the egg whenever zelda doubts herself, is stressed, depressed or sad. Nice observation 👍🏽
also the eggs music sound so nice and synthetic (is that the word?)
SS also sounded good
(SPOILER ALERT!!!!!) The part at the end were eggboi tries to calm Zelda after he was dying put me in tears for the rest of my life! (Age of Calamity)
OH MY GOD, WHY did I just realize that age of calamity is OVER ONE YEAR OLD?!?!😯😯
Dude we hear Zeldas theme a bit through Ocarina of Time but when she sends us back in time for the last time it just hits different don’t it
Yes
When I was a kid and I finished oot I just cursed at Zelda lmao. As a kid I wanted to see them together.
True.
@@zero-pantsu-samus3203yeah, but it was the right thing to do.
Skyward sword and twilight princess are so nostalgic, and they actually feel like lullaby's that make me want to cry.
the breath of the wild version is so heart-wrenching. on one hand, they're finally okay, ganon is gone and there is no more threat of total destruction as of now for hyrule. but on the other, zelda has to finally face a new hyrule which she doesn't even know, one of ruin and dystopia. but it isn't the typical post-apocalyptic world, it ended gradually, slowly, and with deterioration, and then w see the champions and her father looking out as they leave the world in full. idk bro it just wrecks me emotionally
nintendo: BOTW 2 go brrrrr
@@reijimiyamoto4227 GFJHDD OH DONT IT
I wouldn't say new hyrule is a dystopia. It's more post-apocalyptic. But it's fragmented society is very pastoral and actually kinda peaceful. She might actually take to loving it.
Wait how do you get that botw ending?
Me too
Fun fact: Skyward Sword was the first time this music plays when Zelda was indeed going to sleep.
Why is Terrako so adorable?? Like the little whistle meep sounds are so cute
Why does Impa and Terrako hate each other?
@@reecegonzales17 i think they're like brothers, Impa is this way with Pura too
I know, right? He's like a cross between R2D2 and BB8!
I love the character designs for Link, Zelda and Impa in Hyrule Warriors. I'm a sucker for pretty eyes
yeah, the faces for link, zelda and impa, repectively are; normal face, normal face, EYES
I like the twilight versions they are so pretty not the dark, grim look that everyone else seems to think
no clue why, but age of calamity terakko lullaby literally makes me wanna cry
It's because it is programmed to a painful degree to serve one purpose; cheer Zelda up. Every single thing that it did in Age of Calamity from changing the course of history to playing Zelda's Lullaby whenever it saw her cry... it did it all for her and it asks for nothing in return but her smile. It's such a simple goal, yet becomes so heartrending at major points in the story
Me too.
It plays when he dies if I remember correctly
@@jacklantz7535 yeah he played it when he died
the game made me cry
too many times...
Dang I just saw your first vid went to the description and saw age of calamity and realizing this was 9 minutes ago
Hi that was me two minutes ago!
I’m always gonna be that guy that says the skyward sword one is my favorite. It’s just so peaceful.
Unpopular opinion: Zelda's theme from Spirit Tracks when she's a ghost is the best out of almost all of them.
I agree because at the start it’s more sad because of her state but then it starts picking up and becoming more cheerful to shows how’s she’s determined to help link and get her body back. At least imo XD
spirit tracks is really good!! It's got a few easily solvable issues, and I feel like Nintendo should remake it for the switch
@@perfidiousprophet Yeeeeeesssssss they should remake it, it's begging for it ;)
@@melonlord4606 I feel like they wont remake spirit track for the same reason the wont make a new F-Zero. The system doesnt have something to offer that would make it worth doing. Ocarina, Wind waker and link awakening were remade because they didnt need something like the two screens of ds/3ds, really sad to think about how some of the best games Nintendo has ever made wont be remade because their next console isnt designed around them or the game underperformed but theres nothing we can really do about it :/
I don't necessarily agree with that, but Spirit Tracks definitely has a super underrated soundtrack in general.
Those of you who liked the skyward sword version, I agree the woodwind absolutely killed it. The oboe is the one playing the main melody! A very beautiful instrument.
My absolute favorite version of Zelda's Lullaby is the one in Skyward Sword. Sadly, the motion controls didn't like me, and so my friend played through most of it for me so I could see the story. However, I did beat the Skyloft Silent Realm for myself, and it only took two tries ^^ I almost did it in one, I had all of the tears but accidentally ran into a Guardian
Good news. It’s being ported to switch.
@@mattwho81 still... motion controls suck
What because Link was actually left-handed?
She looked like Emilia from Re: Zero
@@vra6586 My first console was the Wii, which means I have an appreciation for motion controls.
OOT's Zelda's lullaby is the most nostalgic to me because that was my first Zelda game many years ago.
Makes me think what first Zelda game I played. Oot is up there.
OoT is my first Zelda game too, I believe.
The song that makes me cry almost every time I hear it. I love it so much and the fact that it sounds just as beautiful reversed is amazing. Koji Kondo is an absolute legend.

Zelda: Say that one more time and I will beat the sh*t out of you
Link in WW: Some bird took my Sister so I'm gonna murder this evil guy out of anger
Skyward sword will have the best version on almost any song. Ss has an orchestra and some well worked trough songs with the correct instruments that just touch the emotional spot perfectly
My newborn son calms down instantly when I play this. So thank you!
Evolution of *Princess Peach's Castle* from *Super Mario 64* to *Paper Mario: The Origami King*
Fun fact about the minish cap one. The song playing is actually the staff roll / finale of infinity from ocarina of time, which incorporates almost all the songs from ocarina of time in it!
I honestly think spirit tracks was the most unique and has the most interesting changes to the chords that are perfect for the scene. Besides that I'd have to go with skyward sword.
I plan on using spirit tracks(spirit Zelda version) at the end of my d and d session while narrating the fall of a country.(if this happens)
Some could argue that Minish Cap was more unique, but other than that I agree
I saw the cutscene in age of calamity and ngl I cried.
I literally tear up each time I hear Age of Calamitys Zeldas Lullaby.
@@GamersArtX
Teapot Egg (terrako): promise me you wont cry.
Me: I promise.
"Plays zeldas lullaby"
Me: ok maybe I will...
Its the cutest-
there is a ton of terakko cutscenes
I had waterfalls in my eyes in age of calamady
While skyward sword is a game with many problems, when you finally reunite with Zelda and her theme plays, it is a very special moment
The skyward sword one made me want to cry, so did the AoC one, and I like how the one in BotW had the main theme at the end.
IF THIS IS NOT PLAYED AT MT FUNERAL IM NOT DIEING
exactly
i dont even play this game, but same
I think Wind Waker's rendition impacted me the most as a kid. Fresh off of Ocarina of Time, hearing that familiar tune right after learning about what happened to the legendary kingdom I loved from the previous game hit me in the gut. Especially with the mosaics of the six Sages lining the chamber. All of those fond memories came washing back and it was like saying goodbye to all of them.
If i have a daughter in the future, i'll definitely name her Zelda

The Hyrule warriors one is so beautiful man, the strings and the subtle harp is so nice
Thanks for making this quality video . Been quite obsessed with lullaby music, it awakens childhood vibes that makes me feel very good.
ocarina of time, twilight princess, SS,,,, they all are just so pretty,,,, i nearly could burst out crying i love them so much...
Skyward sword and A Link Between Worlds will always be my favorites-
I played the Ocarina of Time version for Piano Recital just a few days ago. It felt so good, being able to play something I loved so much in front of other people. For that reason, the Ocarina of Time version will always hold a special place in my heart, especially since Ocarina of Time was the game that really made me love the series with a passion. Though I think the time that Zelda's Lullaby hit me the hardest was when I heard it woven into the Hyrule Castle theme in Breath of the Wild. Though I think Twilight Princess was beautifully powerful.
Spoiler for botw - - In one of the last memories as Zelda and Link are running through the forest, for a slight moment just before Zelda falls behind, you hear the music playing and quickly getting louder and overwhelming.
Wow, you can really tell that Skyward Sword was the first game to get an actual orchestra to play the music, going through this video it sounds almost holy when SS pops up!
My favourite is probably Ocarina of Time though. It was far from my first Zelda game but it's just so iconic and makes me tear up.
i jer3333k off looking at princess Zelda
The music and the cutscenes are timed perfectly! It totally fits with the moment in the cutscene!
Unpopular opinion: I love Minish Cap's rendition.
Me too! In fact, I love all the Zelda's Lullaby renditions.
It’s just a compressed version of OOT’s credits theme
I’m a bit biased because Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game, but I absolutely love its rendition of Zelda’s lullaby when you first meet her. All of the unique chords you can hear are so pretty. Very close second would be Skyward Sword. It fits Zelda so well and I love hearing her sing too. 💙
I love that the ones that succeeded Ocarina of Time (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks) all used woodwind instruments that sound similar to the ocarina
just a decade ago almost no one remembered that the song originated on the snes. It was one of my biggest pet peeves. Even my Twin had forgotten at one point. It was always my favorite version of the song.
i jer3333k off looking at princess Zelda
ALTTP and the first hyrule warriors versions are incredibly nostalgic for me
I say Age of Calamity for me. It just hits different then the other ones. It makes you wanna ball up and cry. It is so tragic to hear especially when you hear its backstory
HI you
make my day man I love zelda's lullaby
I like ALTTP version because of the celtic waltz and chippy of the original version and my second favourite is the Twilight Princess version with the choir. It feels like she's a matured, fitting theme as a princess of the kingdom. Most variations of the Zelda Lullaby is the Spirit Track version. Hyrule Warriors seems like it's her wedding.
The Twilight Princess version is my favorite.
Zelda's lullaby in age of calamity needs some context. So before you say it's bad hear me out ^^
It's played by a little guardian named Terrako! It's very closed to zelda and so it plays her lullaby to cheer her up or to show her it'll be okay.
There's another version where terrako is destroyed and the melody is completely broken and off tune and that one just breaks my heart.
(You can also hear zelda's lullaby in "with power awakened" "the king and the princess" themes in aoc and in the memory "despair" in botw")
@Mae C
the one where zelda starts crying in the forest
@Mae C it's the one where her and Link run away from the guardian and she ends up crying in link's arms
Tbh botw and age of calamity tear at my heart the most because of how sad everything is with context. Zelda now had to rule Hyrule without her father, or most of the champions. Only Link and Impa are still alive(as well as Robbie and the other girl I forget her name), and Impa won't be for long. And Terrako just... Terrako. If you've played the entire game you understand.
WHY IS THIS SO NOSTALGIC OH MY GAWD:..)
The minish cap variety hits me the hardest
1. Skyward Sword
2. Phantom Hourglass
3. Ocarina of Time
4. Windwaker
Alright, but the minish cap versionis so underrated
Skyward sword is easily my favorite out of them all! Even though i may have not played the game just yet and only finished BOTW, I feel some nostalgia towards it... I love it so much.

For sure is one of the most amazing Zelda games
its not in this video, but the version that plays in tears of the kingdom... Not to spoil anything but after the events of that game it hits hard. I cried after finishing it.
100%. during final fall and then also the cutscene right after that. mwah chefs kiss

Should I be sad that the beautiful version in the credits of age of calamity didn't appear
You have the best theme in this series, and the most saddest theme too
I like how spirit tracks sounds like train whistles

nah bru i was shedding tears when that Zelda's lullaby hit in the ending of totk 😭
Now we need the version the organist at my church played one week a few minutes before church started
Terrako is so cute! Spoilers!
He’s really fun to play as as well.
1. Skyward Sword
2. Age of Calamity
3. Breath of the wild
4. Ocarina of time
5. A Link to the Past
6. Hyrule Warriors
Yes, thank you
Also, fun fact : I sometimes hear Forces vibes from Ocarina of Time
To think it took them 29 years to make it an actual lullaby in the game and GOSH DARN IT THE TEARS ARE ALREADY FORMING
I like how Mitsuhiko Takano was like "y'know I really like the way it sounded in Ocarina's credits, think I'll just nab that" and then he did.
(Mr. Takano did the music for Minish Cap)
This as a leitmotif is genius
Botws is fucking soul crushing.
My favorite version is the ballad of the goddess from skyward sword (if you don’t know, play it in reverse)
twilight princess one sounds good
I love the age of calamity one
To me, it's difficult to choose a favorite version, All of them sound so good, but my favorite version of the character is the one from Spirit Tracks, that Zelda was probably the best companion of Link (Besides Midna), she was charismatic, funny, not annoying and overall a great character.
AGREED! Spirit Tracks Zelda's also my second favorite companion, though Linebeck's my number 1 rather than Midna

My favorite theme in all of gaming
damn it i love zelda's lullaby
I like the one from A link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Twighlight Princess the most.
Midna... This is no time for levity. The shadow beasts have been searching far and wide for you. Why is this?
You know, as rude as Zelda is sometimes, in both her pirate form (Tetra) and normal form (Princess Zelda), she genuinely cares about Link, and is typically nice to him, even helping him along the way. Link and Zelda just get frustrated sometimes, which is totally natural!
Didnt you post this exact video 3 years ago? Eh still damn good to listen and enjoy the nostalgia
It isn't the same video, this is an updated one that features Age of Calamity
i love a link to the past so much❤️‼️
I really like how spirit tracks changes keys in the middle
Tan similares y tan diferentes a la vez, cada una me trasmite. Un sentimiento de nostalgia diferente.
