Oh but I miss majestic music. And drone shots. It would complement majestic scenery in majestic way. It would underline the reason and feeling of sailing. Average guy could make majestic montages as well. And still be averagely work on his boat as a contrast.
Just as others said. Love the real videos. So many good channels ruined with fancy music and effects. Keep on having fun and thanks so much for sharing your adventures and keeping with real footage and information. Great man and amazing channel.
chief, when youve posted all your videos for the season, you should do a video thats just like your reflections and insights on cruising the med. just like how easy or difficult it was, or maybe how expensive you found it to be, or like what it was like dealing with customs in all those places you visited. i think a lot of people would enjoy it. cheers
Single handed sailing is lonely. By keeping people informed where you are and talking about your sailing life, even the more mundane things like maintenance, is interesting and I think keeps you sane. Loneliness can be very demotivating but you keep your mental health stable by talking to the camera.
Dude... you went the wrong way. If you come back- let me know. At least for the info. It would make you appreciate and enjoy so much more. Apartments and concrete blocks are nothing to admire here. Almost every stone has a legend of its own here. There are at least 5 national parks and countless nature reserves just in the coast, crusader-raided towns, cave where Calypso held Odysseus, scientists and artists that changed the world, started new countries, Byzantine forts built atop ancient Greek observatories and Midsummers night dream written 50 years before Shakespeare wrote his version...
@@torrencarlson180 you went to Makarska dude. That is your crime. I presume you don't come here often. There isn't much history in just couple of touristy places. Makarska being the worst of three offenders in this case. Every other place is worthy of long studies and that knowledge makes your stay more enjoyable.
@@cetterus That is a strange take from someone that knows nothing about what I did in that country for the other 27 days I was not in Makarska haha. Maybe if you want to act as an ambassador to your county you shouldn't call people criminals for visiting Makarska as part of their travels... have you ever been to New York City? I think that place sucks but if some visitor wants to see it while on a trip to the U.S. I wouldn't call them a criminal.
@@torrencarlson180 "criminal"? Oh noooo. I'm just saying it is a crime to start knowing Croatia from Makarska. That and saying there is such a thing as burek with cheese. I do believe you didn't stay and explore concrete in Makarska while you stayed. But what could you see from daytrips? Perhaps salt plant and Ston walls. Not much more. For every other thing you did- I am immensely glad.
Sam, I'd love for you to talk about your experience once you get all caught up -- Croatia seems like a high point but I'd love to hear about the highs and lows of your European experience do far.
I enjoy your videos. It’s an escape from all the “going’s on” in the world. You are smart to stay out at sea. All the people on land have become crazy.
At the very end ... cover it up, this is a family friendly zone here! We could use alot more of that in the US. I'd love to visit Croatia and that general area sometime ... lots of Churches and a sense of tradition there.
You have probably already tried it but if not, you might want to try some antioxidant paste ( we call it deox in the electrical trade) on bolts and other threaded parts as well as electrical connections to keep them from seizing together. Nice video but kind of an abrupt ending. 👍
There is a lovely little harbour on the east side of Brac, cannot remember its name but that would be a good stopover before you head for Zadar. Saw a kingfisher there. Very tame. Keep sailing, onwards and upwards
There is another very interesting place which is south east of Split called Omis. This is where the river Cetina enters into the sea. It is a renowned place of Pirates, not now but many years ago. But there is a wonderful gorge/canyon which pleasure boats take you to. Not like grand canyon, never been there but it is a place worth visitin, if you have time.
Your new sails will come into their own in heavy weather in the Atlantic but it seems to me that the material for both the main and the foresail is too heavy for the light winds you are experiencing in the Mediterranean.
280th subscriber LIKE; 1881th tag-along view about to set sail... and, yep: 2:26 - this episode is officially legit: 'nuther hole in the boat! WOOHOO! Digging all the local capture from about 7:06 on.
Been watching you since the sail to Hawaii. You're just a flat out cool dude. I'd hold your beer, and while you're sailing I'd "sip" it. Rock on sailor Sam! Take care, good vibes your way! Crackerjack.
Hvar is a great place, we moored up there in October a day after visiting Palmižana (Hvar wouldn’t let us in that day as the waves were smashing against the wall).
Sam, I have been following your videos for quite a while now. To be honest, the quality of your filming and audio is really crappy compared to many other sailing sites. Instead of firing out crap once a week maybe try every two weeks with quality. Of course I will still follow your trips. (-:
This is why I love your videos - not fancy, no majestic music, just an average guy working the boat and seeing the world.
Forgive me for laughing but uh, the average guy today can’t live alone outside his cozy bedroom with no tv, internet and food delivery 😅

No majestic music? Have you not heard him on that keyboard?!

You must have never heard Sam play! 😊

That’s a great idea
I count as lost, each day that I do not watch Sam drill a hole in his boat.
myself a sailor I really do enjoy this videos. This summer I'm in this area and I'll keep a sharp outlook for him.

Man I'm digging these Croatia videos. Me and my wife did our honeymoon there years ago. We loved the Markarska Riviera region you are in now.

How did I do it wrong? I was there for a month and traveled all over. What's wrong with liking the coast? @@cetterus

Dalmatian Coast is beautiful, my favorite. ❤
I loved Rovinj
Hey, Sam!
Nice pictures again! Sad, it has been so few!

your always looking for wind at the same time looking for protection from the wind, funny love your vids

Very true!
Yeah, zombie apocalypse soon
I love that sign at the end

Love your videos. What an adventure!
You drilled a hole, yeaahhhhhhh, i can open a beer, at last !
Wouldn't be a Sam Holmes video without a hole being drilled in da boat
I think he has more tools on that boat than food or clothes. His v berth is just for storage
My most favorite Croatian island as I’m Croatian and also the sunniest Croatian island and also the place I learned how to swim ( stari grad )
welcome to my Country and the best Island in Dalmatia
Beautiful scenery.
Always great to see Korčula in the background… 🥰

Hvar is stunning. My mom vacationed there in like 1990, nothing seems to have changed.
Sam the drilling man.😁

Havr looked like great place to explore.
Hahaha, the name of the little wooden boat two guys are fixing in the old town says “Ona bi,” which means “She would.”
😂 The building was smiling 😂
I thought you were saying "The bar" LOL. In search of "the bar"!
that one ended abruptly ! I don't like long goodbyes anyway 😄
I feel like Picked Herring plays hacky sack and devil sticks and has a name for its bong.
Thanks for another video
Sam! 🎉
How did people manage to sail before auto tillers? Did they just have to anchor?
Other good vid :) love this channel

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This time it’s a big hole!
Your random videos are like sunny breaks in a cloudy sky.
That sign, was that just for a church or something, or was that for the whole city???

Now I know what the Croatian for slippery floor is.
And there’s no sense being on along leg and not drilling a hole in the boat .😉
Auto tiller number 69. I got a good feeling about this one!
If you go to Split (and you should) you NEED to visit the FROG MUSEUM. It’s an unreal experience that I can’t describe.
Hvar is a great place, we moored up there in October a day after visiting Palmižana (Hvar wouldn’t let us in that day as the waves were smashing against the wall).
You can fix anything Sam. Have you shared yet what your plans are after winter from Venice? Where are you headed?
Sam, I love your chilled videos, but they could be better visually. A lot of the colors seem to be washed out. Time for a new camera, maybe?
Thanks. This video is from last year. Check out some of my newer videos, they’re shot with my newest camera.
Use Coca-Cola to get rid of the crossion
MILNA is the name.
That fiberglass must sting, take care!
Question for any sailor of boats of this size: is a vacuum cleaner a standard piece of equipment?
What so you get fined for wearing a bathing suit and having a drink?
Sam goes through a lot of TP, get it?
Greetings from lucerne 🇨🇭 Switzerland, maybe close to you 🎉😂
Put zinkpaste in that socket now and then to stop corrosion and sticking again.
So much for the naysayers about rising sea levels 🤦🏼♂️
is it awkward meeting internet fans Sam, or are you used to it?
It seems they’re doing something for him all of the time. At the very least they’re giving him a tour
@@o_oo_o1812 I had thought about dropping by the garage he bought and seeing him, but I was afraid he'd put me to work.
@@nomehdrider lol I remember that video where he offered to let someone sleep on his garage cot if they did work for him xD
Need to sort your sound out, buy a mic maybe?
Are all the tiller pilots so bad? They just look cheaply made.
If I voted democratic I would sail away forever as well. 😊
