WEST BROMWICH NEW SQUARE SHOPPING CENTRE, I take a walk around the 33 NEW SQUARE Shops and all I found were 2 restaurants with TESCO and PRIMARK keeping the shopping centre alive.

I love Mr Singhs. Parking charge is the main issue though. If I phone an order for collection, it costs another £1 just to pick it up. Delivery charge went up quite a bit too, so I tend not to order from there now. Would use the town more if parking was not so expensive

I think you're being a bit hard on it - I find it quite a useful and pleasant place to go shopping. In 2024 we're lucky to have a shopping centre with a reasonable number of open stores.
It's probably a mistake to have parking charges, even though 80p isn't a lot; you can get free parking if you're quick or you spend enough in the shops.

Yes, the existing shopping precincts could have been used instead of building New Square. The old car park was demolished, why couldn’t that have been used - nothing useful has replaced it. All those shops in Queens Square left empty for years! No wonder people don’t bother to vote when the ‘council’ doesn’t make improvements happen in areas where they are obviously needed.

Hi Phil thanks for the video , West Brom has had it, what a complete letdown the new square is. I’m so glad I moved away from the area. There’s nothing there to entice customers to it, my mom still lives in West Brom and she doesn’t use the town anymore.
I didnt enjoy my time walking along the square, there's no soul in the place

The whole of the UK has changed
Shopping in general has changed and I think the whole shopping experience has come full circle and eventually all the shops in the High Streets will be turned into open spaces or housing.

There are already plans for community housing in Duchess Place which doesnt surprise me. Retail is looking bleak for West Brom and I will certainly be taking a look at Walsall soon, many thanks for your comments
Where do people go to eat before or after visiting the cinema? Dudley have a nice complex at castle gate so it’s really appealing to use that complex. Maybe WBrom tried to do the same in the cinema area but it just hasn’t worked..such a shame really.
People forget how integral food and drink is to a premier shopping centre. They mainly increase footfall but once these places disappear then people may decide to go elsewhere. I think the already disappearing restaurants from the NS tells you that things may not be as good as it seems. Thanks for your comment
Instead of ramming houses onto our lovely green areas this might be converted to new uber modern appartments for social housing.
Primark is the equivalent to budget clothing poverty most shops now just sell junk, desperate times for many I suppose 🤔
I think they killed the high street when they built this, I think I only went once and didn't like it same shops everywhere, why did they build this, the other squares and high street were OK, and the market was good😢
If they had invested more in the shopping malls we already have before building the square then I think they would still be thriving
Was good a few years ago , but since they turned that ugly building into the college, it’s gone downhill , lots of kids hanging around causing trouble , you don’t see the security anymore around there , used to be a Nike outlet place at the Astle park area , which was brilliant, and always busy , but they closed it down

I'm still trying to find a britsh butcher shop . or a proper market selling cheese veg fruit .. I totally feel sorry for the brits of west brom .. .
We used to have half a dozen in carters green in the early 70s and now..........
