    👍 for honesty. Very true anyone could forget to adjust the valve clearance. Especially with all the projects you do. I love how your doing mini bike builds. I got an old doodle bug mini bike with a predator 212. Ungoverned. It still needs 18lb valve springs. Prob in spring ill do it. You can take mini bikes down narrow paths that go karts can't go. Plus u can fit 4 mini bikes to 1 go kart on a trailer. Great video as always. God bless

    I say tear the head down and smooth out the short side radius on the intske and exhaust it will wake up in the upper rpm's. I build heads for a living for GM😉

      That mean cleaning up the ridged of the short turn and blending it into the port floor. Look at a bump in a port lime it's a speed bump. It's not what you want for air speed.

    Awesome video 👍. I'm sticking with my original suggestion of the vintage army theme with flat olive green as the primary and flat black as the secondary or accent color. You could even put an ammo can for tools and gear while you're out wheeling. Maybe call like a military tribute.

    Good stuff once again RB. Hey I just recently bought a used two-seater kids go cart that I want to modify into a one seater adult go kart. The main thing I have to do is mount the steering wheel and shaft to the center from the left. That obviously means some cutting and welding will be involved. I have a fair idea of everything I'll need to make it work including different tie rods and what not, but I was wondering if you might have some helpful tips I could use to make sure this goes as smoothly as possible.

    How are you changing valve springs with the heads on,without valve dropping down ? Do you run air into cylinder?

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage  7 років тому

      I run a piece of pull cord rope down through the spark plug hole and it will hold the valves up. You also can run air into it as well

    Idk if youd be able to help me but i have a manco scorpion and just bought a 420cc predator. The back of the gocart frame looks like it may be a bit small for it. Have you ever heard of anyone being able to put one on? Will an after market aorfilter and pipe take off a few inches?

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage  7 років тому

      The aftermarket pipe and air filter as well as putting a different gas tank on the frame of the go kart will take a ton of room of the engine.

    I have a Coleman BT200X and have already put on the GoPowerSports performance kit and am planning to put on a torque converter and 18lb valve springs. Do you know what the valve lash is for both intake and exhaust? Also I’m running with the governor still in it. Is that fine too?

    I just bought one of these from tractor supply, it was "refurbished" but something is still not right, it smokes like crazy. they let me have it for $250 because of its issue...its useable but do you have any advice as to what I might need to do to fix the smoke problem? its burning oil for sure, blue smoke. hoping I dont need to replace the whole engine, but I actually look forward to pulling this apart and learning a little while fixing it. I am thinking piston ring leak? what do you think? I dont know how these are supposed to run , it seems jerky (chain is loose)but it goes pretty good off the line then flattens out and I give it more throttle and it gives another good lump before it hits the governor, basically a big flat spot in the acceleration if that makes any sense. any advice would be great. mostly care about the smoke right now...

    Hey buddy I just bought a new coleman CT200U yesterday. What's the first couple things I should do for sure for quality and longevity and power? Thanks man. Also I'm 270lbs. Lol.

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage  7 років тому +1

      Once Go Power Sports cvt kit comes out definable get that for it. In the mean time I would highly recommend the Mikuni kit from go power sports as well as the header. It will really open up the engine. Remove the governor and put in 18lb valve springs.

      Red Beard's Garage ok sweet. Just went riding along side my kids gokart it's so bumpy! Gonna have to add shocks to the seat for sure. I took the speed limiter screw off the throttle linkage. It goes pretty good for me being 270lbs! Thanks man

    Hey Red do you think valves being out of adjustment could cause an engine to run rich? I have an older 15.5hp Briggs riding mower and I just did a complete carb rebuild because it was surging at full (governed) throttle but now it dies after it warms up and backfires super loud upon restarting the engine. Maybe a carb float problem?

    • @pogonick55
      @pogonick55 7 років тому

      It starts up and idles perfectly fine no resistance or smoking, I don't know if that eliminates it being valve related
