My God...the amount of work that went into that....hundreds of hours. Absolutely top job. I literally can't think of enough nice things to say. Legendary!
Just got my first 3D printer (Creality Ender 3) up and running, and the right barrel cover is now printing, as my first ever 3D print. Like many have said, keep it new in a mfg. package display and a used version with accompanying holster. I do have to say I am impressed Bill, keep up the good work. Looking forward to more videos, and thanks for selling the files.
Very nice work Bill. The attention to detail is amazing. I would suggest a _very_ light amount of weathering -- almost invisible -- mostly as dark "grease" in the inner workings. Just something to make the parts look as though they've seen a bit of action.
I was going to say the exact thing. After all this work, I wouldn't make it too dramatic. Maybe take a look at some real pistols that have been in use for a few years. Maybe the Tested video showing the original prop.
You've done a man's job, sir... The .stl files you have produced are superb. The CR10 printer has been working overtime on this prop. It is a beautiful kit.
Talking about printing your own. Should I print in ABS ( to account for shrink ) or is PLA also acceptable. That depends on the tollerances. And since I had trouble printing the 3DKitbash stuff in non ABS materials ( simply doesn't fit any more ) , I'd rather ask now, then Cry after hours of printing.
@@guinhill I used PLA and I am very happy with the fit. Like in any model kit, there is going to be some sanding and Dremel work. It is the nature of 3D printing as opposed to a injection molded kit.
I am going to second this. I like making most of my props without weathering, because I want them to look like they are for display. That said, there are times when the weathered and worn look makes it feel more authentic.
You have the first one "fresh off the line" as it were. Take a look at some images of pistols in a similar state, and apply that light touch that would represent test firing and light oiling that most factories use prior to shipping a piece out. Then, with a second casting, go for the "in service" look of a good 5-10 years of wear and tear. A bit of friction wear on moving parts will really pop with that thin metallic casting job worn back, and then highlighted with darker metallic tones and just a touch of oxidation. Superb work man, makes me wish 3D printing was in my realm of ability, financially or otherwise. There's a few lightsabers I'd like to iterate in similar fashion.
I agree, do a second weathered and keep this factory new. Would also be cool to see some custom package for the gun with a security lock to get into it and a beginner handbook or maybe a certificate of ownership... All in the style of the blade runner universe of course.
I finally got around to watching this and this is just... stunning. I mean seriously, the functionality is mind boggling and you should be every bit as proud as you look. This is next level stuff right here.
Wow. Ok. I can make some pretty neat stuff but this is one of the first builds where I realize...I will never be as good as Bill. Hahaha. SO many skills!
Dude! Above and beyond on this project. I started watching, thinking, "Meh, let's see what he did differently." Totally impressed with how you incorporated the lessons learned from all of the previous variations, as well as introducing those very fine extra touches. And for once (and only once) - holy hell, don't weather it.
WOOOOO that was exciting, and also after going through a very small part of this... EVERYONE, this was a HUGE amount of work and it turned out awesome. Hopefully this does well for you my friend!
Bill, this might be your best maker project yet. I can't tell you how great this is. (I've watched 4 times already just because it's really satisfying.)
THANK YOU SO SO SO SO MUCH!!! I have wanted to pay you a hefty sum for pretty much every stl file of everything you have ever made. I am now in the process of printing all these parts on my Anycubic Mono X in the actual colors so I will also not have to paint it. I'll let you know how it comes out. :) I'm sure to make two. One factory fresh and one that has seen some action. THANK YOU for sharing your journey for all these years!
I am truly amazed by the level of work and passion you put into this project. Seriously, I am struggling to find the words. Such a great build, so much detail. Well done.
Stunning work bill, a real culmination of your experience coming through in one piece . I think you should keep that as it is and cast another one with the metal parts rust colour for chipping later , or with iron for rust treatments . Let’s image they haven’t made rust proof guns in the future . Very generous to share your files, thank you .
You know I was going to skip this video as I've seen the Bladerunner Blaster done multiple times, but then I started watching and damn.... this was just amazing to watch. The processes you went through are fascinating and you seemed to hit every step without making this a long video. Just excellent work!
No Paint & no Glue! Amazing. Love This Well Done. I am a weathering junkie but for sure with this one, I think you need a nice round number 3 of No Paint, No Glue, no Weathering LOL so good bill
I think I vote for light weathering, if for no other reason than to make it easier to read Made in Seattle :). Fantastic work - I love watching you and Brit acquire new skills over time - inspirational!!
The no glue and paint approach is quite remarkable, I would love to see another one fully weather and maybe with a few customization by the "user" and see them side by side!
Very cool! Have to give it a go and print this one in the future... Love this gun. Thanks for the 3D file, $9 is really accessible, considering all the moving parts!
I don't even know what to say. This is beyond pro level. Not just making it look fantastic but to have the mechanisms work... wow. Now all I need is a 3D and laser printer :/
very pretty! instantly bought these files, thanks bill! i'll have to figure out some other way of engraving the text on the receiver as i don't have a laser
@@punishedprops alas.. this would be a pretty huge undertaking wich I can't really do in my free time.. But I don't want to sound like i'm selling anything :s

(For my sanity please 😅)
I think you need to gift a kit to adam savage! Would love to see him do a one day build of it!
Tell us when Adam Savage contacts you. ;)
Thanks for sharing the files ! Definitely going to buy them :-)
I think you should make a second one and weather that one and keep this one clean!
Just incredible, man! You can easily see the joy in your face when you talk about the finished piece!
Thanks buddy! This is easily one of my most ambitious builds and finishing it has been incredibly satisfying. =D
@@punishedprops It's SO cool and satisfying to watch too! Really fun vid!!

I think you should keep this one like factory new and make a second for weathering😃👍
I like how you think. =D

Having held this in person I have to say it is a truly a masterwork.
Thanks so much good buddy! =)
Do you mean that you held the actual “Hero” Blaster from the 1982 film Blade Runner!?
DamionChrist No. I’m referring to Bill’s blaster seen here.
I love the Alec Steele-esque showcase at the end. Great job Bill! It looks unreal.
HAA! You KNOW I was totally copying Alec!
This is actual prop. Amazing work dude.. Perfectly done.
Couldn't care to much about the gun, but the process of making it! Loved it!
Wow. Just… wow. Very exemplary use of all the materials and techniques.
Thanks!
Fabulous build. Amazing to not use paint or glue, your design process is brilliant.
Thanks!

That piece of pew pew magic is amazing! Give yourself a huge pat on the back for the way it all came together!
Awe, thank you!
I love that you cold casted this, I always wondered why so many people paint instead of cold casting.
Wellllll cold casting makes the molding and casting MUCH more challenging and time consuming. It is totally worth it though.
Holy crap you went HAM on this gun
