I was in New Zealand for around 10 months in 2020, I experienced what real paradise was breathing oxygen like never before, enjoying the natural environment which was untouched compared to the rest of the world, saw the blue skies like I never did in the dusty and air polluted, the so called developed cities of the world. I can say one thing for sure, if the world cannot stop weather events in New Zealand, if it cannot reverse climate change and global warming NOW and I repeat RIGHT NOW, I see very little hope for the rest of the countries, New Zealand may be the first victim due to its close proximity to the melting ice sheets of Antarctica, however the devastation of the melting glaciers will swallow the beach cities of almost all the countries. The science is clear, the sheer weight of water when flowing can take the biggest of mountains and rocks with it, you cannot stop it with the most advanced military equipment that you have, there is only one way and that is the Nature's way that humans have to start living. We need to respect the principles of sustainability and become environmentally conscious and that too on a war footing as time has already run out. Hope the world sees the seriousness in what is happening in New Zealand, and hope it is not so deeply dumb to think that this once in a generation event is something LOCAL, and it is not coming for them....If you like what I wrote please hit the like button friends, thanks have a safe future, I pray for the innocent humans on this planet.......

Incredible. My thoughts go out to everyone impacted and everyone who is on the ground ( or water ) trying to deal with it. This is a grade 1 catastrophe. I went through the Earthquakes in Christchurch and the rebuilding that followed. This is similar but, in a lot of ways, entirely different.

The family driving a 4x4 through raging flood water is pretty damned stupid . Here in Queensland,the government broadcasts a slogan every rainy season, " if it's flooded forget it!" but every year someone gets washed away in their car and drowned . That family is lucky the Bridge was still there under that water. ...otherwise their friends and neighbors would be mourning their loss.

Irresponsible showing people driving through floodwaters. This is one of the most dangerous things you can do in floods as evidenced by numerous flooding fatalities in Australia.
