*_Mine was definitely overflowing today! I didn't show it on camera but stuff kept dropping all over the floor as I was trying sort through stuff! it was crazy! crazy good! LOL😂_*
Wow, that s a stash of some good sewing supplies. I repurpse sew, the majority of my stash, other then treads, are from second hand stores, garage sales, or donations. It s a great way for me to learn and experiment with sewing. Keep inspiring.
I laughed when I saw the ribbon shredder as I have one of those that I use to use. It can make certain kinds of ribbon prettier be a use you can split ribbon easily and then make ribbon curls out of the split ribbon. Thanks for sharing.
I have purchased the scrapbooking alphabets to use when I sew rows together. I have seen them in the lqs but if I can purchase them at a second hand store for .25 or .50 why would I pay more.
I have a beautiful old sewing machine. It has little cherubs and flowers and is a hand crank machine. Sadly some one left it out in the wet and the sewing part is so corroded I don't think it is retrievable. When I get my sewing area set up I will use it as a display.
I wish that was my Goodwill. They never have any craft supplies. The Goodwills in my area will not change prices. If you ask they will get snippy about it and then quote their mission statement. I understand that the money goes to a good cause but nobody goes to a thrift store to buy used goods for regular price. We've stopped asking because we want to be on good terms with the employees but it makes me sad to see something sit there for weeks because they refuse to drop the price. After a while they toss it in the dumpster. I get really good deals on vintage crafts supplies at a local store called Union Mission. A lot of their stuff in 10, 20, 30 years old and I find some sweet gems there. Also newer stuff I got 2 rolls of 3 yards of wool for 2.99 a piece one time and huge beautiful book on sewing wedding dresses for 1.99. I love that store.
If those eyes are the safety eyes...then YES! I use them for my amigurini that I then donate to kids in the foster care system and in Children's Hospitals.
@@TheSewingChannel I believe they were. If you look in the bag in the video they had backing pieces that would lock the eye into place. Yes that bag was a find if you make any sort of stuffed or crocheted animals
ribbon shredder - its for wrapping ribbon, to make curly cues. our goodwills in kansas are nuts. eveything is high and dollar tree stuff runs $2-$4 per item.
Probably correct on the macrame yarn. Was a little hard to tell but the weave looked right. Back in my olden days, a lot of jute and cording was used instead. we didn't have the funds to buy stuff like this :)
The plastic grids you thought could be cutting tools were actually hoop placement grids for an embroidery machine. They assist when centering items to machine embroider.
The first machine was so rusty I'd have left it. The second for $25 may have been one heck of a deal. The cabinet was virtually unused and the machine looked as if it had sat in a garage. The second machine had an identification sticker on the back in excellent shape. A close up of stock #/model numbers would always be a good idea. The manufacturers name is usually printed on the sticker also. If I needed a machine I'd make a trip back to check that one out. It might be almost brand new - virtually never used.
@@TheSewingChannel I spotted a Pfaff 160 years ago, knowing little of vintage machines at my GW for $25, right at closing on Saturday evening. Did a bit of research that night and was there when the doors opened the next day. As I tested it, two men walked by and commented how excellent it sounded even with its obvious age and lack of lubing. I think it had been used 3 times- judging by the lintel present. One demo and maybe two seam repairs. Found out later from the original Pfaff dealer here that the Germans would only allocate a few of the model for him and they were pre sold to "preferred" customers. My favorite GW is smack in the middle of the "old money" section of town. I've found a few treasures there over the years.
Yes our Goodwill has nothing in it in the craft isle. They even don't carry sewing patterns. According to someone there they are not going to carry patterns. they have a new system now
@@TheSewingChannel What other sources do you know of...We do have Arc in Colorado which still carry some...i look on market place but not happy with the prices...i guess it is going to be auctions and garage sales...
They had a machine with a cabinet at my GW for $25. It may be worth the $25 just to have the wood cabinet, even though the machine may need work. The cost to repair/maintenance a machine is about $100.00.
Sometimes when you ask for a price, they go in the back and put a high price on it, thinking maybe you took the price off. When they do this, I just put it back. It all depends on who prices it for you.
At our Goodwill/Thrift stores, if an item is not priced, they will not sell it to us...and we can't reason on the price... as pricing is done by a pricing team in the back, and the price is set.
Oh my goodness I haven't been to my goodwill for over a year because I'm afraid of shopping during the pandemic. I'm thinking maybe that's why the Goodwill is so full right now. I may just strap on a triple mask and take a trip.
Our Goodwill is so overpriced and they won’t ever come down on a price. They keep going up on prices too. I’d rather shop yard sales I don’t donate to Goodwill any longer and rarely go in to shop. I donate to Teen Challenge. I’m so glad your Goodwill is easier to deal with.
Yes. Sorry I did forget to say the link is in the description box below the video. Sorry. I started auctioning off one of my thrifts in each GW haul video. It is an eBay auction✅
I honestly am having a hard time with these videos. You are out during the pandemic and many of us are elderly and high risk and cannot do this. It honestly makes me sad. I always went to the goodwill to repurpose and it is especially difficult for me not to be able to go. It might me nice to post these things after the rest of us can go out again. I have tried not to even make a comment but these videos keep coming.
Your Goodwill looks fabulous!! Every time I go to mine the craft area is always empty. 😞 Great score for you!! 👍

I love these Goodwill shopping sprees! My goodwill doesn't have many craft items at all. I think that is macrame yarn.

Their prices may have been high but I'm so impressed with their inventory. My GW never has sewing supplies. I love the vintage fabrics, nice haul!
I enjoy the thrill of the "hunt" in thrift stores.

I do too. Just not at Goodwill. In the past it was awesome but not now.

Ribbon shredders were a big thing in the 1990’s. But it’s only for the satin per birthday ribbon.
The Leopard Stitching I made back in 1975. It was my favorite at the time.
