I just bought two full rolls of 90" wide quilt batting for $6.99 each. The outer bags were dusty, like they'd been stored but no smells and one bag had a $229.00 price sticker.
The roller what I was told is a brayer it for rolling seams, flat anything even rolling wall paper. Punch is you punch through the material and you leave loops of yarn to form pictures on the other side of material.
*_Thanks for all the info Kay✅_*
I have same quilting book you have. I like thrifting u never know what u may find for crafts.
You should about that roller it is fantastic when your sewing and you don't want to get-up-and-go back to your ironing board you Can open seams up flat with it
*_I know I should have bought it...maybe if I go back it will be there....I do want one but I wasn't sure if that's what it was....sometimes they throw stuff in the craft section if they aren't sure what it is or where it goes...._*
Love these but always get a chuckle because I do paper crafts, make junk journals and cards, slow stitch, sew, knit, and quilt so I see a need for all of it. Room, however, is always an issue. Lol
You got that right Kathy! I usually want more than I can actually store in my sewing room✅😉😂
I enjoy going to the Goodwill with you! I am always checking out thrift stores for pieces of fabric and odds and ends of lace and ric rak to make tactile quilts for people with Alzheimer’s. I belong to a group of wonderful quilters that donates them in our area. We have made over 800 so far. I have made over 70 myself.
Wow what a great cause! Thank you for sharing that idea!🧡💜❤️
Oh My Gosh! That Tack-it is an amazing tool. I have one. When marking your dots on dressmaking you put your tracing paper in place and the edge of the tack-it under and on top of the fabric a smack it to get a dot. I wished thry had one for small dots, large dots and squares but I’ve only seen the one size. Very useful.
Lots of fun things! Thanks for sharing.
*_Thanks for watching!_*
The quickest, cheapest path to a doll blanket begins with a home decor, envelope style, pillow sham cover. Stuff with fleece, Terry cloth toweling, or other. Hand stitch the envelope opening shut, quilt or hand tie through all layers securing the opening shut, or remove the back to create a sew-turn-seal blanket. You can also sesl it uomwithiut adding any wadding.
That pansy needlepoint kinda looked like plastic canvas. The Christmas Socko was probably Christmas stockings.
"Seam" roller press you mentioned could be used for sew/quilt projects but I think it was for artists/crafters but can't say specifically for what (for rubber stampers?)
i have that quilt book; it was a gift from my sister and I cherish it.
I sure wish our good will was this nice and had all this stuff
Same here!
The punch embroidery needles/sets are a smaller version of the old rug punching. I absolutely love doing this as I have grandchildren with unusual names and can make patches of their names to personalize their jackets, bookbags and so on.
I think the punch needle is a type of embroidery tool. The thread is punched in and out to fill in the design. I think you may be able to make different loops and textures. Have fun, Grandma!
*_Thanks for the info Midge✅_*
Actually that tool is for making rugs and wall hangings. One continuous piece of yarn is punched up and down in the backing canvas creating a loopy, tufted texture on the right side. This was one way household rugs were made.
I love the seam press. Those are so handy
It's called punch embrodiery. You iron on the pattern onto broad symphony cloth. Use and embrodiery hoop to make it tight and and punch the thread down to make loops spaced side by side. I've made pillows and wall hangings.
With your description I can actually visualize how it’s done… 😊 thank you so much!
The Vogue Christmas Socko pattern is for Christmas stockings to hang on your mantle 🤗
When looking at felt and the prices, if that felt of any color is wool felt it's expensive. It's used in applique felt on felt in vintage looking table mats.
Thanks for info✅
The punch items are called Punch Needle. You can do a search on line to see patterns and just what it is. Love seeing you go to the Goodwill. Thanks for sharing.
Thar green knitting loom is what I used to make hats. Very easy to make.
The punch needle tool is a great find!
Amazing items to choose. Wish it were my Goodwill.
That bottle of Sewer’s Aid I used to put on my sewing needle when I was doing appliqué, keeps needle from gumming up from heat & bond. I never used Sewer’s Aid as fray check🤷🏻♀️
Great Copy patterns have been out of business for years sadly.
Great shopping with you Tracy!!🤗
*_Thank you for comin along!!!!!!🧡_*
I would have been all over that cradle too 😍and I don't have any grand babies yet lol
*_LOL😂 I can't wait to fix it up with a cushion and tiny quilt💟_*
@@TheSewingChannel that will be so much fun ❤️💜
Yes seam press
I would of grabbed the seam roller. Love them.
*_I wish I would have grabbed it lorraine! bummer...😕_*
I wish our Goodwill was as packed as yours. My local Savers or Dax-E store usually have great craft/quilt embroidery items. I’m a vintage shopper so I love finding old sewing items. The Punch Needle kit is a great starter kit. Using different gauges you can use anywhere from embroidery floss to wool yarn to create beautiful designs. Great quilt book find, enjoy and thanks for all your great videos! 😊
I have that quilt book and I love looking in it for ideas
*_I love it...it has so much in it!✅_*
Waooooo... i wish i had a store like that here in York PA
*_Mine is hit n miss but honestly most of the time it has a ton a craft stuff✅_*
You have a good community aid store and you have a Gab’s store. I come up from Florida to work my sisters Christmas tree farm every year and I do a lot of shopping there.
Awesome!!!
Love the book. And the library has that one. I think. I’m in Mississippi. But the prices. Are not cheep. But I did get a bag of scraps and it had a lot of precut 5 inch block. For 10.$ and got that have to go back to see if they have any books. Good find .
Hey Tracy, you got a real bargain on the Quilt Book ❤️ Have a good weekend, Chris
*_Thanks Chris....it really is a beautiful book💜 Enjoy your weekend too🧡_*
Thrifting is like hunting. I love it, too.
Really impressed with the 4.99 buttonholer! Great find on the book :)
*_Thanks for watching Shelly✅_*
such a dawg, lol, I wished I go back to a Goodwill I went to the one I went to with my niece 2 years ago we were in for a few minutes loved it, but it's nothing like this, for sure. I'd have a shopping attack for sure there lol, I sure did need that Sunbeam sewing machine you showed a while back
the poinsetta iron on could be the start of a fugly top for christmas. i would buy it if the print still looked good and not faded.
*_You have great ideas knitgirl✅_*
The roller was to press wallpaper seams
*_Oh Jane thank you!!! I wasn't sure...maybe it could be used to press seams?_*
I never see all this sewing/craft stuff at my nearby Goodwill ‘s. Bummer. 😕
Looked like a wallpaper seam press.
Needle punch is a form of rug making, you punch a yarn into a canvas and leave a loop on the front.
*_ohhhhhhh thanks Deb!!! I don't think I've tried rug making._*
Thank You for the tour love it 😜/Gisela in Sweden
Thanks for watching Gisela❤️✅
I’ve never heard the expression “pop on” to mean pick up an item. It sounds kind of hip hop vernacular 😊
*_LOL I got it from "American Pickers"✅ I thought everyone had heard it before LOL😂_*
Books are awesome finds like the Quilt Book, I always learn something from just browsing through chapters of information and color combinations.
*_So true!💜_*
".... no, yeah, no...." LOL! Just love the running commentaries on your Goodwill shopping trips, Tracy! If I needed any more DMC floss, I'd definitely be bidding on it. What a deal you found!!! BTW: The Goodwill stores in my area don't have nearly as much sewing and crafting stuff as yours does.
*_LOL😂 some of the stuff they sell is hilarious! I wonder why more stores don't have the craft section like mine....🤨_*
Good finds on this video!
*_yes! it's been awhile since they've had anything good✅_*
Joann's fabrics and Hobby Lobby often have sewing patterns for 1.99, so 2.99 each for a pattern from Goodwill is too expensive.
*_Your'e right Romana!✅_*
Great find on the book. Enjoy.
*_Thank you, I've been looking at it today and it has so many ideas in it ✅_*
I noticed some small yellow rick-rack while you were searching through the hot mess. I went shopping at WalMart today; and, the only rick-rack that WalMart had was the extra large in pink. Have they quit making rick-rack?
I noticed that there was some teeny tiny rick rack too. I’m not sure if they stopped making it or not… People still use it I’m sure!✅
Your Good Will is ALOT BETTER THAN MINE!!!!
*_I hear that a lot Margaret✅🤓_*
Great Copy was once owned by someone else....not sure who. But Patty Otto bought the company and has expanded it to include more patterns along with machine embroidery. She is a frequent vendor at The Original Sewing and Quilt Expo. She is a wonderful woman and her sweet husband helps out in her booth.
*_Thanks for the info! ✅ That's awesome that you knew exactly who it was!_*
I wish my GW had sewing supplies, maybe I would go back. Their prices have gotten so high I quit going there.
J Vogus. You make Goodwill so much fun! Have you been to the Goodwill Store unline?
I wish we still had a Goidwill...I miss mine....but it rarely had craft stuff.💜
Needs are fora needlepunchset
Fantastic Goodwill. Ours has very few items.
My goodwill is so overpriced I wouldn’t buy it anyway but I’ve never seen so many stuff like that. We just have junk.
You have a great Goodwill. I live in Bradenton/Sarasota, FL and once in a great while we will have a few things. Do u ever come across any heirloom fabrics, Swiss or French laces?
My Goodwill doesn't have craft supplies like this at all! Could it be because I'm in the middle of a city? (San Francisco). What kind of area do you live in?
That’s a wallpaper seam roller
I love to needle punch!
*_That's awesome Sandi!✅_*
Nice thrift store!
Thank you! 😊
Do you have a stack and whack tutorial?
no I don't 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, I haven’t sewn anything from them yet. But I have heard of them
What state are you in? Your Goodwill has tons of stuff. Ours doesn't have much.
I'm in Ohio...my Goodwill hasn't had much lately though...🤷🏻♀️
I went with family to the local thrift store a while back my nephew was checking on his phone for you know treasure finds he found something and passed it up I looked at it and I knew that he made and uh oh but said nothing why they dismiss me anyway later I found out it was on the news some hit it big with a goodwill find of that same item no I didn't get I have my reasons oh by the way the Cathedral quilt turned out Amazing glad you made your goal so you can snuggle that grandbaby no one is talking to me or having anything to do with me I'm actually okay with it finally unless they want to show off there event planning skills.
What does " pop on it" mean???
*_"pop on it" means "buy it" ✅_*
Are you auctioning the little knitters bag?? The brown one at the end of your video?? I love it. 💘
No. Sorry I didn’t buy it. I was just showing it in the store ✅ it was really cute though!
I never understood why good will doesn't keep all that little stuff un bagged and allow the shopper to pick and choose and fill a bag for a certain price and maybe do different bag sizes! To me I'd think woman would love that ,I would anyway 😂
*_I would totally love it if they would let us buy like that✅Great idea!_*
Yes that would be a brilliant idea
Good idea fill a bag Sale would be amazing.
I think some of those prices were too high. My Goodwill prices are out of reach for second hand/used.
Use the DMC floss for the needle punch. UA-cam needle punch to see what it is.
This looks like half the stuff I’ve donated to Goodwill over the years. Joanns used to put patterns on sale for $.99 regularly. Now it’s rare. $1.99 is more common. I wouldn’t buy patterns at GW, pieces could be missing.
You’re absolutely right Connie!
Scrapbookers love patterns, great background paper to paint and cut up 🤗
I love your good will our is not like that at all. Where are you located
*_I'm in NE Ohio Barbara✅_*
I just want to know where you live because my Goodwill doesn't have anything close to what you have in your stores. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I like the Jean jacket your wearing in the video. 👍
*_Hi Helen -My jean jacket is from Walmart 😱 I live in northeast Ohio✅_*
@@TheSewingChannel Not only do you have great taste in your wardrobe but you are thrifty as well! Thank you for your reply.
Great Copy patterns are expensive in SE MN
*_Thank you for the info Mary✅_*
Laces trims and thread 🧵 is what I want to go look for
Punch needle
That looks like a seam press to me , could also be for clay or even fondant rolling, watch out for those needle punch kits I almost bought one then I read the reviews on several brands and all had very poor reviews ,guess they either break real easy or just don't work properly right outta the package .
*_Thank you for the info Amanda......maybe that's why there were 3 different ones at Goodwill.✅Because they are no good!_*
Never had a problem, using it to "press a seam", before you get to the iron... or. A seam roller for wallpaper's or borders' edges!!!
Hmmm... I wonder if your Goodwill's craft section was a "hot mess" because someone came through and made a video before you? LOL
Lolololololol🤣😂
Where is your good will at?
*_North East Ohio✅_*
@@TheSewingChannel wish I can go to your goodwill store!!! You got a lot of good stuff!!!
Needle punch is embroidery. Makes a 3D or raised embroidery pictures.
That was a cross stitch punch
Do you think people are giving up on their glue guns or embroidery floss or are children just donating their deceased Mother and/or Grandmother's stash of hobby supplies? I'm afraid that's what is going to happen to mine. (Judith Dembowski)
*Judith...I think you are right about a loved one passing away and then the family doesn't craft so it all gets donated because they do not see the value it any of it🤷🏻♀️*
Probably also people who bought stuff to do stuff during lockdown and never used it
Kreinik!
I am glad that you found deals, we all love to save money. I am a little sad to hear so much glee in your voice for what seems like "pulling one over on goodwill". Yes, goodwill is a place we can all donate items we no longer need, want or know what to do with but goodwill is selling our no longer wanted stuff to raise money for the work that they do in the community. Sadly, the people that put a value on items are volunteers. So your glee in spending .25 cents for a 75.00 item makes me a little sad. What good they might have been able to do for people had that item sold for a little closer to the actually price.
*_Thank you for contributing in the comments B. Neal💛✅- You're not wrong➡️I love a great deal!🤷🏻♀️_*
I see all these Goodwill videos where people get such great bargains, and just shake my head. I live in SoCal and it just seems like our Goodwills are very expensive. I see mugs that I know came from Dollar Tree selling for $3.50.
I use denim and flannel in some of my quilting, but used jeans and flannel shirts start at $8 and go up from there, out of my price range.
I won't even donate to Goodwill because I think it's a big rip off.
I so wanted to watch this but wow awful jerky and fast movements sorry. Maybe next time
Sorry Sue...
Love what you do, but can't watch your videos. Get motion sick
*Sorry about that🙁. I try hard to keep it steady....*
