the music starting at 30:12 really took me by surprise, i've been conditioned to it being the title music for the channel 'abroad in japan' (journey across japan segments)! never thought i'd hear it in a biffa video :p
Not gonna lie, that cinematic gave me some serious 80's nostalgia vibes !! 😂 Back when computer editing became a thing, they used those effects ALL THE TIME !! 😆
20:15 "Not going to do dedicated lanes..." You added roads to junctions that already have dedicated lanes so anybody going to the university now has to turn away from the university and go past the metro hub to get there.
1:58 haha got you! You don’t need two lanes at the end because if they wanna go left they can just choose the left lane at the previous junction and go all the way round and turn right... they don’t wanna go through the tight turn
Exactly what I was thinking! I think the International theme just doesn't have specific building for high tech so it'll fall back to whatever it has in the theme.
That highway exit you upgraded at the start - it shouldn’t be a two lane road, but specifically only a right turn. If you follow the road, you’ll see that it has its own road for right turns, so traffic won’t have to cross over.
Biffa, the road where you have to take the right turn to enter the new build universaty, doesnt allow you to take this right turn, cause the lane arrows are onlt showing left turn and straight on.
I think that an episode where you can really look at the Metro would really help the city. I feel there’s a lot of places that could use a good connection by the metro. The very first areas might get some good coverage, but all around the main metro hub, you really need to have more stations in between the two terminals. Also a couple of circuits could help too.
Sir Biffa, I've been trying to build a Bond villain lair on a small mountain in the centre of my map. Something suitably extravagant and daunting, only accessible by cable car and helicopter. Since you have huge swathes of mountains in the centre of your map, perhaps it might be an idea you could consider? I would love to see what the maestro could come up with, and it might give a point of difference with other builds. Just an idea, hope you enjoy the rest of your cuppa!
I'd love to see you add a blimp route that goes right along the top of one of the mountain ranges so as you're going around your city you can just see them bobbing along in the background sometimes :D
Loving all the content, go back to your first junction when putting sound barriers on the highway. Seems like changing that off ramp into two lane would create more traffic due to the left turn. The city is looking amazing btw!
Yup, the whole point of that junction as it was set up before was that traffic using that slip road was _only_ turning right. Unfortunately when you upgrade roads in Cities Skylines, it resets all the turn restrictions even if the roads have the same lane configurations, which is annoying. (Something for the incredible brains behind TM:PE to think about for the next iteration, perhaps?)
Biffa, I'm REALLY enjoying videos every day. I work a mundane 12-hour shift on the weekends, and it's nice to watch you playing. It breaks up the monotony. Keep up the good work!
I know streamer blindness is a thing, but when you add two directions to one side of your parclo thats whole intent with the underpass and wraparound is to service both directions without going through the intersection, as well as put a high tech housing policy as well as the international theme which I am not entirely sure are compatible with each other, and a metro stop about ten feet away from another, it makes me wonder how tired you were when you were recording the episode... remember to get some rest, Biffa, cause if you haven't got your health, you haven't got anything (good reminder for us all, really..)
Hi, I think you forgot to add this video on the playlist of new tealand. I nearly missed and didn't understood why there was no episode between the last and the next. Great adventure as always, I've been trying to convince my laptop to run the game but it doesn't want to hear a word... I think it just makes your playthrough more interesting xD!
21:14 The road you should use would be a pedestrian road, and you can make it into a nice boardwalk area. where people can come to eat, drink, and play by the coastline.
Maybe it's an idea to add in a ferry (not public transport but the one that brings in tourists) at the end of the road in the New area, and thank you for the Amazing amount and quality of you're content lately!!!
The cinematic at the end uses the music from Abroad In Japan’s “Journey across Japan” series. Definitely caught me off guard! Great video, and can’t wait for more videos.
looking great Biffa!! Love having both NewTealand and Antarcteaca running at the same time. Highlights how hard playing the base game can be when looking for visual perfection :) cheers
You don’t sound so happy about vanilla but I love that series! I think it is by far the best looking build out - vanilla slows you down and the results are pretty awesome :)
Great build. I love the two areas and how you used different policies in each of the three districts to get a great look. And the video editing at the end when you were flying around the new area is just amazing.
Nobody can enter those one way roads in front of the new university from the main road because the lane arrows are only for turning left and straight on! Great edit at the end by the way
Hey Biffa! Just something I noticed.. at 1:55 where you upgraded that road to 2 lane.. didnt needed! That road was set as only right and not left. If you look on opposite site was asimmetric road also set to only right. So traffic dont cross eachother.
Love the new before/after swipes! More please :-) Also, could you explain the super complex interchange please? Lots of roads there that seem to do nothing, imho.
If you’re talking about the one at the end of the lower density neighborhood by the base of the mountain, it basically connects both the arterial cross street with the highway and does a system interchange with the other highway going into the tunnel towards the old downtown.
1:53 that doesn’t go left and right. It only goes right and the other connection in front of it also goes right, which serves as the “left” turn for who is coming from the freeway. By doing what you did, you ended up introducing one extra point of conflict to that intersection!
Hey Biffa! As a transportation planner I really enjoy watching your Cities Skylines content! It started a few yours ago when I discovered the Fix Your City videos and today your YT channel is one of my absolute favorites! Especially the New Tealand series is just awesome both for learning how to play and for pure entertainment. I even started playing CS myself (with your mod-list) although my hardware limits the speed of playing and the size of my cities... Very cool, that you started uploading daily and I hope that you keep doing that for a longer time ;) I read a lot of comments but usually don't write some by myself, but this time I do to tell you the following: The order of videos in the New Tealand playlist doesn't seem to be completely correct. For example this video should come earlier in the list. Plus: there are some private videos in the playlist, that can irritate while searching the next video to continue. Perhaps you can double-check that both. Thanks again for this great content that I'll definitely continue to watch! :-)
You chose the perfect time to start uploading every day Biffa! I've been in isolation with Covid this week, and I've loved having new videos to look forward to every day, thank you, always great!
Beautiful addition, been watching this series from the start and it's becoming magnificent! Love it! One thing I noticed is your tea leaves draining a lot faster than I expected them to, maybe a money making/fixes episode one day!
25:50 When selecting the theme for the new Evergreen District, I was hoping you’d pick the “University City” instead of International since it’s all centered around the new university as the focal point.
Hey Biffa! I hope you'll read this. I've been binging the New Tealand Playlist and got a bit confused about the some parts of the city being built off camera, or so I thought. This video shows that part and I just realized that the last 3-4 videos are not in the right order. Maybe you could change the order to prevent more confusion. I hope this message reaches you! Btw, I love both the AntarctTEAca and New Tealand series! Keep up the good work,
I see a few places at least one each on two different lines where you could install a TEA metro station. I like your road layout there, I only wish the game or mods allowed metro station anarchy so you don't have to rebuild the tunnel to install a new infill station. OT that long, narrow block in the Coleridge District would be ideal for a long park.
I'm thinking in general back to red bull and do we have an observatory yet? If not the mountain behind this new area could make for a great spot. A smoothish path seems viable behind and to the left of the University.
So much done in this episode ☺️ One thing I noticed is that cars can’t get into the university from the main road. You need to adjust the lanes to allow then turning.
Loving the videos Biffa. I'd really like to see you craft a tiny hamlet using 1u roads and zoning single blocks for tiny buildings, maybe a remote island community with only a boat link.

In the beginning, you upgraded a one lane exit ramp to two lane exit ramp, to be able to go right or left. But the left turn is unnecessary, since you go under the bridge and come to the same junction but from the other side to turn left. Although technically you then turn right since it's from the other side 😇
Great content. You forgot to set the specalization as high tech houses. Maybe it's best like this as the area near the high way is not always high value.
Content coming out of bifa lately is amazing. Extremely well done! Maybe in the hills behind our new expansion there could be some mountain roads and some rural housing
I love the series! One suggestion: I feel like all the dead end roads in the new area could do with some paths connecting them. Plus a few paths connecting to the main road could not hurt.
The metro lines on Tearantula should really go from end to end, passing the hub in the middle. That's how it would look in reality, as fewer would require a transfer in the hub.
Thanks for new schedule Biffa you start all my days now super fun! I love the transition at the end when the grass pulls back to show the city! That was awesome have a great day!
I was a bit disappointed you didn't give the new district the university town theme, would have fit in so well. Also, no one can get into the university turnaround area because the lane arrows are forcing them to go past. Love the eighties vibe at the end!
I'm using your Playlist to catch up on this series and, just so you know, this episode is missing in it!! I binged watched this project harder than any show on Netflix. Great stuff!!!
2:15 - Others may have pointed this out, but you don't need that to be two-lane as it's a parclo, so to go across the highway from that direction, you loop around underneath the overpass.
The interchange right by the new neighborhood, you made an off ramp L or R but you added a second exit on the opposite side so they would both turn right but the one has a left turn also now, totally unneeded. This daily videos stuff is crazy, love it!
Biffa, the junction you changed at 1:53 was a right turn only junction! You set it up as such in "Why I Love the Parclo & You Should Too in Cities Skylines" (ep 33 I think) 😅
2:06, no that road was only for turning right, that's why there was one lane. If they want to turn left, they go straight through where it splits off and then it turns around and connects to the road for left turns without needing to cross traffic.
Biffa! You messed up your lanes on that intersection. You made it one lane into two lanes coming in from the right when you already had one go under the overpass specifically for going the other way! 2:25
There is a metro line just underneath the new low density district. Instead of creating a bus line to the central metro station - one extra stop can be added on the already exising line(see the orange metro line). Opening new station seems reasonable on the already existing line
The perfect thing to watch while drinking my morning coffee Edit: I think your issue with the High Tech Housing may be the international houses policy that was selected
18:22 A bus full of people arrives at Tearantula station but none of them goes into the station. Also no people visible who walk inside the station even if a train arrives. Have you ever seen people walking in the station? Does the station actually work? Which would also explain why 5 metro lines have 0 passengers (28:47). And why so many people walk over the highway bridge (1:36) - because the line going underground there is not working.
Nice editing Biffa, especially at the end. Suggestion: That area with the new university you made a 1-way with only on 1 side - it could be both sides to create a sort of hamburger round-about.
Name suggestion: For a future tourism/leisure area (or if you have one still unnamed) why not call it The Partea Gardens. Loving the modded series, just hoping I would have time to play my self instead of playing small scale sims in real life (fixing my own house :D )
Replace the Keys along the river with walkable ones? Connect some pathing to them? Also, make sure you use paths where both walking and biking is permitted . .
“I love the way these building look good in any angle whoop except for this angle” that made me crack up
🤣

Was coming down here to say that :) Abroad in New Tealand :)
2:00 you only need a turn left on that node because it comes the other turn comes from the other side.
Bis Biffa put a lot of thought into this intersection and forgot about it 😅 now he messed it up...
yes nobody has to turn left
Yea I was thinking ... Biffa builds a great parclo ... a few episodes later he can't remember what a parclo is ... maybe too much tea ;)
Only need a *right turn
Oooh fancy cinematic there at the end. Quite the pleasant surprise. Looked really cool! Love the new area with the uni building.

20:15 "Not going to do dedicated lanes..."
You added roads to junctions that already have dedicated lanes so anybody going to the university now has to turn away from the university and go past the metro hub to get there.
The only way is driving from the other side of the road.
Was going to comment
I was going to comment on this too ... the one way in road can never be used. Maybe @Biffa wanted it to be for decoration only :P
Yeah I noticed the same thing. I missed your comment before I posted about it.
Good observation.
Tho we all know that will eventually just be a big roundabout, tbh.

1:02 Love that van driver who joins the highway and immediately crosses all 3 lanes into the fast lane :D Very true to life!
High tech houses might be overwritten by international theme, haven't finished video yet so i don't know if you consider that
We can also check if there are high tech houses included on the international theme
Exactly what I was thinking! I think the International theme just doesn't have specific building for high tech so it'll fall back to whatever it has in the theme.

Yes exactly. Completely negates the design of the parclo or partial-cloverleaf interchange only needing right turns off the highway.

Name suggestion: For a future tourism/leisure area (or if you have one still unnamed) why not call it The Partea Gardens.
Loving the modded series, just hoping I would have time to play my self instead of playing small scale sims in real life (fixing my own house :D )
That final editing and music was top notch, awesome :D
This is your best city-creation yet. I really enjoy what you've done so far.
👍😁
Getting a daily dose of Biffa is really nice. Alternating between the cities is great, seeing the different challenges.
High tech housing seems to be in there for people who don't want to use the Eden Project or create a lake.
Sweet wipe transition thing at the end there! good editing
What about parking in the new areas?
Also, loved the "Journey across Japan" music in the end.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.
13:20 - Hightech Housing looks exactly the same as regular, it will only upgrade more quickly.
Replace the Keys along the river with walkable ones? Connect some pathing to them?
Also, make sure you use paths where both walking and biking is permitted . .
21:44 no way to turn rigt
Looking good. The new high density residential could be Tetley Towers.
1:57 is supposed to be a 1 lane 1 way turning right since the other side is a 1 lane 1 way turning right the other direction!
