When you have the issue with the multitool smoothing the junctions, try the delete node tool and removing unnecessary nodes around your junction. The weirdness seems to happen when there are too many nodes close together
The same method helps when node controller is being a bit weird a lot of the time too. Things like straight edges or corner smoothness won't work if there is another node in the way, as indicated by the red outline on the segment.
Biffa, you need to add some crosswalks in to allow the people to access your park, currently they have to walk from the train station all the way down to the first intersection to find a way across.
@@thesimulatorguy4248 I'm playing on a reasonable lappy and have mine at 150k, but that's only doable with great public transport coalescing massive number of cim sims at any given time. Usually when you hit 100k it's like hahaha
Love the park! Should add another crossing behind the train stop near the park side gate. the visitor need to walk a long way to the front before they can cross
Nice one Biffa! An idea could be to keep the train tracks raised, and to use a raised train station, to help connect to the elements around the outside. Thanks for all the great stuff.
around the 14:30 mark you had me pulling out my hair with that giant downward bump in the railroad! XD Thank god you fixed it! Amazing build at the end mate! Love your vids
17:43 "Shift" function is your friend. You can use the same alignment tool for the highways- Hold SHIFT and click on the outer edge of the one-way track, and then click on the corresponding edge of the two-way track. Repeat this for the other track. This allows you to get an extremely smooth connection. Edit: Also forgot to mention that the radius of the train tracks shouldn't be less than 150m if you want your trains to move faster. In real life, the radius of train tracks is much bigger, however, 150m in C:S is a good balance between realism and space required.
I know it's still a ways off, but I would LOVE to see your next map be a location of an actual city around the world (AKA get the terrain data from somewhere on Earth) and build a dream city there!
Canteabury might be a little small for a decent city when recreated in CS, but Coventea looks like a decent size, as does Notteangham, or for a larger city, he could try Teads (Leeds).
I notice how you often bridge over roads with your rail lines, whereas IRL it would be the other way round as trains would not be able to make such sharp inclines in such short distances. Just a little constructive criticism for a more realistic build. ^_-
I haven't seen the outcome yet but as an traffic engineer just thinking about a one way loop for the trains make me shiver. You get big bottlenecks where this loops connects to the main line, both merging into and coming off. Just making it a normal two way track with grade free merging into the main line would be so much smoother.
Nice park and great clue as to how to get people to it...build the transport first to make it a destination then build the park to draw the traveller to the destination. I believe if you build the park first, then the transport, you get less travellers because the sudden change in 'entertainment' value isn't avaiilable as a destination so choice is made to go elsewhere. The algorithm must be set that way. Wish I had time enough in the day to play the game so I could make things pretty like that.
Absolutely love the new park - looks great and I will have to get those assets added to my city. Perhaps a little water feature / pond in the middle would be quite nice. At the beginning of the video when you improved the highway junction there were a couple of slip roads joining / leaving the highway under the bridge that may benefit from some lane mathematics?
At around 5:20, the reason it went weird was that you didn't align it correctly. Instead of aligning the 3-lane to the 2-lane, you did it the other way around.
@biffa You might need to look at adding a few crossing points between the station and the park area... the new arrivals were having to walk all the way up one side of the park to cross into the middle section at 26:10
That weird overlapping flashing, like with the roads ar 5.30, thing is called Z-fighting. It happens in games and 3D design in general when 2 planes have the identical Z axis coordinates, it's easily fixed by just putting one of the planes ever so slightly higher or lower than the other, but in games where the Z axis is locked moving it away from eachother is indeed the way to go
Absolutely beautiful Biffa! I was a bit shocked to see you throwing down some banana trees in that park, I used them extensively in the ridonkulously detailed tropical island build I am slaving away on and haven't seen any of the You Tubbers using them before. A few constructive criticisms, and a general criticism of your builds. 1) when you moved the central cross over flowery path feature, you forgot to include the joining path nodes, so now you have lopsided lead in paths from the long sides.. 2) Network Multitool has a FABULOUS circle feature, which you could use on your entry roundabout straight off the service interchange for this park. You can make it bigger so those lateral offshoots can have some space between them and the service interchange connections. You will need to not only increase the radius, but drag the centre further away from the service interchange, and make sure you adjust the node placement vectors as it will try and space them out evenly, and you don't have an evenly distributed setup. 3) The general criticism is regarding your pedestrian over and under passes. The city of Sydney standards states that, while they acknowledge that sometimes topography is just the way it is, grades should ideally be 5% (well ok, they actually state 1 in 20, same thing, and my time in Hong Kong and Singapore has made me critically aware of that. While those latter two cities almost universally employ that, I note the former city honours it more in the breach... However, SERIOUSLY beautiful park Biffa. Really enjoyed this one.
still think it's super wierd you chose to go for the through-station in this spot that literally screams end-station. nevertheless you made it work and look great! one small note: since the parking lot of the train station is already filled, could maybe add one small parking lot to each corner near the taxi stands where there is some "empty" land
That memorial should be dedicated to all the people that lost their homes because of the fires at the beginning of the series😂 P. S. At 17:17, that happens because the track aren't nodeless, so when doing that realistic curves with overlapped segments the node becomes "wonky" Try moving a little bit the segments away from eachother and that should solve the problem😉
I think that side of the island could use a smaller metro hub so you can run some metro connections to Tranquilitea Point and the outer islands from there. It could be the centerpiece of the residential/commercial section of the build.
You may think about putting in some crosswalks an the long straight roads next to the park. It looks like they have to go to the very corners to get the the crosswalks.

The park looks great! Maybe I'm blind but it looks to me like there is no direct connection between all the different areas of the park though. I'd just add some of those so those lovely people don't need to get out of the park to visit all of it.

Goodmorning! I've said this before and I am going to say it again: This is beautiful! Not just the map, but the editing, you doing words, everything is gorgeous!
The roundabout on the "north side" of the highway also needs to be upgraded to minimum 2 lanes around, with dedicated lanes etc. as well, for vehicles coming off or going onto the "westbound" lanes.
Lovely park there! It's unfortunate people walking alongside it cannot access it. Why not elevate the tracks and the Birdsong Transit Hub station so people can walk right in from the shops and enjoy their surroundings? Also you'll want to run train lines to The Glass Box and Bentealey stations and extend the metro to the Tearantula, and in the future out under New Tealand Sound to the islands.
The park needs some pedestrian crossings near the entrance so the pedestrians don't need to walk around just to enter it. Love the build btw.
Also for those two side gates so they can go from side to side with the shops without needing to do a full loop. :)
Same !
The park gates aren’t symmetrical!!
Yeah absolutely no one walks in the middle
also he can connect the pedestrian paths to the rear platform of the train station
