So glad I found your channel! In a way, I am also a fellow "immune cell" of the information bloodstream . I'm a librarian working in a public library, so my job is to guide and teach people how to evaluate information. Immune is a terrific book, and I also noticed how Phillipp Dettmer emphasizes how analogies aren't the same as what is really going on.👍

I helped with the book and a bunch of Kurzgesagt videos about biology, was great fun to help write and so glad you all thought it was a decent book. As someone whose biological career got started by reading selfish gene (and blind watch maker) I find it high praise to be compared. Just a shame about the authors later ideas, hopefully Philipp or myself won't have the same fate.

Chris' sweater blending together with the wall makes him look like a yoked ninja turtle

Minor "Typo": thymus is the immune system organ, not thyroid. Enjoying the episode.

Would be interesting to decode not the Guru, or Gurus, but rather that which hoists the individual to Guru status - The Guru's credulous & confused audience. A personality breakdown of Guru generators, if you will.

Was the intro inspired by Chris Morris' The Day Today, by any chance?
Thank you for the book recommendation.

Saw a documentary of Doctors visiting Tibetan monasteries. They discovered all the monks were getting severe stomach pain. Long story short, the Doctors donated a wash basin at their food hall. All the mind control in the world but the dirty buggers did not wash their hands. What really interests me is the number of stroke victims at the top of the hierarchy in Buddhist sects. Recent history, Thich Nhat Han, Ajahn Chah, and Jack Kornfield. Not a Buddhist but SadhGuru. Another example of intuitively wise but in the musical field is Keith Jarret. All, with huge audiences that expand their compassion towards others. Wisedom? Try spending 16 hours a day looking into a black hole. You would be surprised what comes out.

Always wondered what it would look like if the immune system did literally nothing during a viral infection. Would you just literally melt as one cell after another ruptured to spread viruses to the next cells? And whatever type of vital tissue the viruses melt first is what does you in?

Decoding Decoding the Gurus is simple. It's like listening to Beavis and Butthead listening to podcasts instead of music videos. They bring no real perspective, and they sadly do little to demystify or debunk anything. I wanted to give this pod a shot because I loved the concept and wanted to see the "gurus" that I love and hate taken down a peg with data, logic, and effective argument. You're sadly as inept at taking down an easy target as Peterson you are with Sean Carroll. I'm not a comment person. Your show is just that disappointing. Tell me why this or that "guru" is full of shit instead of giggling like school girls.

You clearly are not a 'comment person' given that you are commenting on a video that is absolutely unrelated to anything you are talking about. But rock on! I'm sure you will find that high-quality criticism you desire somewhere out there!

      Absolutely devastating 5 star review

Why in the world would you leave this comment on this video? This video is the least pertinent subject to your "criticism". Wouldn't you leave it on one where they are discussing a "guru"?
You post vague generalities about other commentaries somehow not fulfilling some debunking you would like a commentary about on a book review video.
Wouldn't it make some sense that you make this complaint on a video that is actually relevant to your comment?
