    Hey everybody! Today finally marks the release of “Immune - A Journey Into the Mysterious System that Keeps You Alive”. The book I've sorta started writing a decade ago!
    You can get it here: kgs.link/ImmuneBook - It’s available in English and German and at online retailers it should be available in pretty much all countries too.
    First we had to push the release back because of cargo trouble and then because so many of you pre-ordered that we didn’t have enough copies for the original launch day! Thank you so, so much for that!
    Tonight I'm doing an AMA on Reddit where you can ask me about Kurzgesagt, science communication and of course the book! Join here: kgs.link/KGS_AMA
    In any case - Kurzgesagt is a passion project and it's just so heartwarming how wholesome and supportive our community and viewers are. I'm incredibly grateful to have this job and to be able to make content for all of you, video or printed. - Philipp

    Kurzgesagt, you put so much effort into your soundtracks and it's stunning. I just took a proper listen to Immune System 2 and I'm absolutely blown away. This much effort for something only playing quietly in the background. Of course it adds a certain feeling to the video, but your soundstracks are still not appreciated enough. Your videos never fail to amaze me, but this video is on another level. Is the pinnacle of science divulgation, something that scientists should aim for. The systems you are explaining are complicated even for those with biology knowledge, but you explain them with an easiness and preciseness worth of mentioning.

    Loving the book already! I'm making a game where players can control the immune system and protect a person from infections and cancer as they grow and age, all inspired by Kurzgesagt's videos. I've put 320 hours of work on it so far and will keep working until it's finished (I'm a biologist and had been dreaming of a game like that for years, the book announcement was the final push I needed). If anyone reading this has ideas for the game, please leave a comment and I'll consider them (thanks to everyone who did so on the last video).
    I'll upload devlogs to my channel and also made a discord for anyone interested in the progress.
    I think it would also be amazing if the Kurzgesagt team wanted to collaborate so the game could have their artstyle and complement the book. I'll try to reach them soon.

Ive graduated uni as a biomed with a strong passion for the immune system and cancer studying it ever since 2014 but decided to get this to show my support for all the great work you have done and educating so many millions of people and this is such a refreshing way to look at the immune system! I remember getting the usual textbooks and struggling struggling understand how it worked in some parts as there were no colored or any pictures to illustrate it in a way i understood it and i will say on your videos i can get lost with the similes of a metaphor and what youre trying to explain i will be honest, however I am happy you also explain alongside it the simile of the metaphor to what is actually called and how it functions. Please do write more, i would love to see one in hemato-oncoly & paraneoplastic syndromes or genetics and I'd happy buy and add it to my collection in a heartbeat! Needless to say i wish i had this book when i was starting or these videos available to me back then

      Speaking realistically, do you think that vaccinating against the virus if you have a robust immune system could compromise your already functioning defenses to make you weaker when resisting getting sick with the varuz..? Also what's your stance overall about natural immunity as a whole, in this case, to the varuz..?

    • @pokepaar3696
      @pokepaar3696 3 роки тому +40

      @@DarkRipper117 I'm a medical student, so maybe I can answer.
      Vaccinating if you have a robust immune system will not make you more susceptible to the virus. I can only think of one virus (Dengue) where antibodies against it make you susceptible to a different kind of the same virus, but it's not SARS-CoV-2 and there's no vaccine against it anyway.
      Vaccination induces natural immunity. Artificial immunity does exist (its called passive immunization), in it antibodies are injected in you (for example in a tetanus shot) and your immune system does not make its own antibodies. In vaccination, only the invader is fake, the antibodies are made by your body and are completely natural.

      The statement "covid-19 killed millions" - is highly inaccurate at best. The health officials in US, Italy and other countries actually admitted that there were "generous" in categorizing cases as "covid deaths". Not considering comorbidities. Read the article of Bel Mooney about her father's case (my dad died from chronic ilness yet he is officially...). I personally know 3 cases in different countries when medics tried to falsify death certificate of cancer and heart patients as covid.
