I care about celebrities, all people actually but, qualatatively their productions are small compared to academics like Prof Vincent et al. They are unsung desimminaters of cool knowledge. Prof Vincent's gotta wall of pollio, he always has guests who brilliantly converse about science I've never considered learning. I don't even watch TV/movies anymore because, well I'm in school for one thing, and watching a virology expert break down the science of stuff unseen is more satisfying than passively watching dull entertainment. Prof Vincent you're greatly appreciated as well as are your guests. Guys, keep kicking butt in the laboratory! And I'll throw up a couple swishes to the big man to bless you.
As a recently retired ophthalmologist I am aware that hydroxychloroquine is not a benign drug. It can cause severe irreversible loss of central vision doe to macular damage. Usually with chronic use but this may be dangerous in higher doses. It is the commonest cause of lawsuits against opthalmologists.
This is great!!! The "genius" and complexity of nature (viruses included, obviously) is more breathtaking than anything man will ever make. Seems to me real scientists are among the few categories remaining on the earth who are not afraid to say : "I don't know." Maybe that's why you can sense a certain grace, that only comes with humility, in the speakers of this podcast. That virus has been circulating for months. I tested negative for COVID-19 but tested positive for antibodies. I had a bad cold back in January it must have been that virus. I never did feel real bad and I had a sore throat, bad earache, and cough. It took 2 weeks to get over it.

I've been anxious about why the US central gov. worked so slowly in terms of scientific steps to cope with this virus--- now I understand it's not a science mistake but the policy mistake! you can't imagine how sad i am since ten days ago because i know since then there will be a lot of death, for virus works in its way, it won't wait for you to correct policy mistakes.....knowing people are to die is heart broken you know? even i'm a foreigner not an american. it's all life issue we are talking about. it shouldn't be handled in this way. fortunately there's clinical good news about the NY doctor and his clinical success in administrating hydroxychloroquine together with the other two. i'm sure the three medicines are do effective! hope more clinical doctors would know and be bold enough to use them on patients in this critical pandemic time. hope to watch good news report next week!

So Neutrophils over activation results in the deadly side effects of SARS-CoV-2. COX-2 induces inflammation response and macrophage activation. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen non selectively blocks COX-2 (as well as COX-1). Does COX-2 being partially blocked by Ibuprofen (and other NSAIDs) explain the the causal relationship between young people getting sick with COVID 19? My autoimmune diseases are attacking my body so badly that it's causing muscle problems so I have been on cortisone injections and Botox injections in my neck and back plus I have been on other kinds anti inflammatory meds such as toradol that probably helped my body kill off Covid. Prednisone is also great for treating phenomia but needing these meds really also depends on how strong of the type of Covid you have any if it is causing a phenomia response.
Can you do an episode on whether it was "bioengineered" and explaining its origins? So much garbage on the internet about this; we need truthful information from people who actually know what they're talking about! Thank you
I'm a scientists too, although not as accomplished as any of you, and I found that people got upset with me when I would try to explain the biological background of something, even some of the people who actually wondered about it out loud. Perhaps we have to start by getting people to understand why these subjects are actually important to them before they'll be willing to learn something about whatever scientific topic it is. I kind of hate this in a way because our environment should be studied for the sake of knowing about it, even if something doesn't seem to make any difference to human life.
Sadly, most people don't give a toss. A good friend once told me 90% of people are morons. Shocking I thought. Forty years on, I'm coming around to my friend's way of thinking. Social media promised us much but delivered a huge pile of misinformation and junk content, but we do find a few gems such as these podcasts.

The S1 binds ACE2 and the S2 functions as a fusion peptide. i know ACE2 has a role in the RAA system, however I want to know if it has other roles in addition to the RAA system. I think the reason why azithromycin is helpful is bc it's been shown to have a systemic anti-inflammatory effect. It tends to make all patients feel better regardless of the cause of their underlying illness. However, that's also why Z-Pak is one of the most popular cabinet meds that everyone wants to keep at home, & is hugely over-prescribed. Personally though, it's my fave to give patients bc it doesn't cause stomach upset, it's a short course of treatment, & they tend to finish it. Unfortunately it doesn't work well with stubborn sinus infections for example

At 72 my wife and I are simply going to stay in place for at least 2 month in the hopes we shield ourself from this mindless monster the best we can. At 72 with all the predisposed factors in my health history if I catch the virus; I like many in my age group; have little chance of survival at this point and time. I suspect the whole world is scared to death and rich or poor we are all in this together. You and million of nurses are our heroes and I thank you for that. Hello sir. I am master student at Akdeniz University / Medicine Microbiology department in Türkiye. My thesis set on Flow cytometry and It will finish in June 2024. This issue not only my thesis issue but also ı like and preference. However ı can't improve in Turkiye due to economic crisis and aproach to science. I want push limits as using flow cytometry. Human body response againts self or nonself antigene is interesting to me and to indicate the bodys immune cells behaviour with flow cytometry is amazing things. I want to continue it. So how can ı it? I haven't financial situation. But I have flow cytometry and theorical information about immunology. I have used flow cytomety more for my thesis and other phd student friends.

Are there any antibodies from people immune? What about combining antibodies from immune people and antibodies from people who recovered and out of relapse? the amount of virus will correlate to an immune response. stronger response poorer outlook. Virus could be sample via biopsy and looking at microscopes and counting dead cell density.
So, the logic for using severe diseases only for convalescent plasma transfer is because severe disease = higher viral load and therefore more time for a variety of B cells to activate and make Antibodies against the virus. However, I would think that less severe cases may be less severe because of optimal T cell and Antibody response vs severe cases sub-optimal which is why they are severe? is this flawed logic?

I think all of us need another one and you scientists to review your topics since the Nobel Prize Winner Prof. Dr. Luc Montagnier recently revealed to the world that covid-19 was made up at a lab and there are HIV strains in it. We people need to know what this means for us and I have to say, I am kind of really afraid that you scientists didn't come to that. If you don't get behind these systems, what we common people are going to do? What if you would please invite Prof. Montagnier to talk about it? We need clarity for the world. Please help.
Correction.. I know you were referring to Bloomberg’s statement/ news article regarding the CDCs budget was completely incorrect and a correction was implemented by a CDC spokesperson but apparently not well publicized... the CDCs budget under THIS administration has had a 3% increase and will receive 2.5 BILLION dollars this year as requested for 2020 specifically for pandemics and planning of. Congress has to approve the budget so that they can receive the money. PLEASE get your facts straight before making FALSE statements and therefore placing blame where it doesn’t belong.... I used to respect this UA-cam channel, but now I question the information. Very disappointed!!

At 72 with all the predisposed factors in my health history if I catch the virus; I like many in my age group; have little chance of survival at this point and time. I suspect the whole world is scared to death and rich or poor we are all in this together.
You and million of nurses are our heroes and I thank you for that. I am a long time retired nurse; but have not got the courage or the skills to put myself outside in the line of fire at this time of my life. Cheers and stay safe

Hello sir. I am master student at Akdeniz University / Medicine Microbiology department in Türkiye. My thesis set on Flow cytometry and It will finish in June 2024. This issue not only my thesis issue but also ı like and preference. However ı can't improve in Turkiye due to economic crisis and aproach to science. I want push limits as using flow cytometry. Human body response againts self or nonself antigene is interesting to me and to indicate the bodys immune cells behaviour with flow cytometry is amazing things. I want to continue it. So how can ı it? I haven't financial situation. But I have flow cytometry and theorical information about immunology. I have used flow cytomety more for my thesis and other phd student friends.

Are there any antibodies from people immune? What about combining antibodies from immune people and antibodies from people who recovered and out of relapse? If it's a disease there should be a way to prevent and treat? And if it's a disease is there a cure? I read the cure is the immune system to build antibodies and treatment

the amount of virus will correlate to an immune response. stronger response poorer outlook.
Virus could be sample via biopsy and looking at microscopes and counting dead cell density.

So, the logic for using severe diseases only for convalescent plasma transfer is because severe disease = higher viral load and therefore more time for a variety of B cells to activate and make Antibodies against the virus.
However, I would think that less severe cases may be less severe because of optimal T cell and Antibody response vs severe cases sub-optimal which is why they are severe? is this flawed logic?

I think all of us need another one and you scientists to review your topics since the Nobel Prize Winner Prof. Dr. Luc Montagnier recently revealed to the world that covid-19 was made up at a lab and there are HIV strains in it. We people need to know what this means for us and I have to say, I am kind of really afraid that you scientists didn't come to that. If you don't get behind these systems, what we common people are going to do? What if you would please invite Prof. Montagnier to talk about it? We need clarity for the world. Please help.

I know you were referring to Bloomberg’s statement/ news article regarding the CDCs budget was completely incorrect and a correction was implemented by a CDC spokesperson but apparently not well publicized... the CDCs budget under THIS administration has had a 3% increase and will receive 2.5 BILLION dollars this year as requested for 2020 specifically for pandemics and planning of. Congress has to approve the budget so that they can receive the money. PLEASE get your facts straight before making FALSE statements and therefore placing blame where it doesn’t belong.... I used to respect this UA-cam channel, but now I question the information. Very disappointed!!
