Love this canister. Have it hanging inside of my EDC backpack on a carabiner. You seriously don't want to end up with an empty lighter and it's a bit of a problem with Zippos 😂
I try to be as informative as possible, though sometimes I miss the mark. You live you learn though. Thank you for taking the time to watch, I really appreciate it.
i don't know if you mentioned it, but it is important to leave the lid off like you did so that when you screw it back on with fluid inside, the air can vent out. if you leave the cap on the nozzle part then lighter fluid will seep out when you tighten it down. i learned this the hard way.
I bought one and I was pissed when it leaked brand new out of the package. Determined not to give up, I found the source of the leak was between the main fuel cavity and the spout. The rubber washer was not making contact with the rim of the canister. I went to my local hardware store and pick up a pack of Moen M1507 rubber washers I found in the plumbing section. It’s never leaked since. Posting JIC anyone else has had the same issue.
@@benemery1644damn I just bought one online and now I look at the reviews. Idk if I would send it back, I’d probably try to fix it like this guy. Easier than packing and shipping the thing back out and waiting for it to come back.
Perfect for pipe smokers! I know I enjoy using my zippo while using my corn cob or brier pipes! And those lighters always run out at the best times! This will work perfect for those moments.
What a cool Idea to put Flintstones in the Zippo👍 Im from Vienna Austria so I never have seen this trick before ... Will buy some of the the fuel canister ... Love them❤️
I found out the hard way that both the Zippo metal container and the Rosonol plastic container both leak. I tried both in my go bag, and both massively leaked. That little contraption is awesome and I will be getting one.
I always went with a Milwaukee M-18, 18volt cordless drill, with a tungsten carbide flathead bit. Those flint screws can be worse than a shifty lug nut without a power drill.
I found that it fills a little faster when the tip of the bottle is in contact with the cotton and the vent hole is on top. To me, it seems the dry cotton helps sucks out the lighter fluid quicker.
@@txtoolcrib and if you use it to fill the 12hrs hand warmer, with the hole in filling port (newer model) its not that effective, since the tip need to be touching the cotton
That 5 count tip from your other video was perfect. A lot of videos tell you to fill it until you can see the liquid at the top, and it didn't sit right with me. TY!
It's pretty common, you should change your flint as soon as it begins to tilt heavily under the wheel, if it gets too small it will jam the striker and be a pain to remove.
i forget how long your evaporation test took for a freshly filled zippo... seems about a month to me. with the dual rubber gaskets, how long will this last in my 72hour bag?
it will last more than that, i had mine leave out for a week and the amount of fluid just slightly evaporate. it might do better in yours since i live in equator
Part of me wishes that I was willing to use a standard zippo. I just can't get passed the required refill and maintenance. I've got two Zippos the I use, one for work and one for civies. Both have jet butane inserts. It's just so much nicer to be able to just know that the fuel in them hasn't just evaporated over the course of the week.
@@zombifyerilc216 That's fair. Though I'm not always in a position to refill once a week. There is also the benefit that the butane insert works for lighting cigars in a pitch. As long as you have teeth, a sharp knife, and one of the butane inserts, you can prep and light a stick. You never know when a cigar emergency may arise.
Seems like they cheaped out with the flint holder, it looks like a piece of rubber with a hole in it, so maybe your flint could fall out. If I were the boss of the world, the flint holder would have been made of metal and would have a threaded top you could just unscrew to get at your extra flint. That way you'd never lose your spare flint.
Say, Ben, have you ever come across the Buck Knives Bucklite multi-tool? I think it was a response to the Leatherman PST. It's plier-based and about that size. It doesn't open like either the Leatherman or the Gerber. There are 4 tools in each handle (if you count the beefy, swing-out lanyard loop). The handles don't pivot open in the plane that the pliers work in, but they pivot open perpendicular to that plane. One handle pivots through 180° and then pulls the plier jaws another 180°. The design is an attempt to deal with ease of access problems in the PST which I think was a limited success. I'd be interested in hearing your take.
wow such overprized very small yet overbuilt fuel bottle, in my country they sell small spray bottle connected to a small carabiner meant for portable hand sanitizer, I would buy that either in red or black or buy both and exchange the bottle and the cap to make red and black combo, and use its sprayer in close proximity to the cotton we can count each spray better than counting drops, those thing are so cheap you can hang one with every set of keychain so everywhere you go you will have some spare lighter fluid either to refill your lighter or just to spray clean your key hole or padlock or to clean your own hand from engine oil and gunk, or to make a flame thrower
I wish Zippo lighters came with an O-ring in the bottom of the outer case. I had to quit carrying one in my pocket do to naphtha chemical burns on my leg fro leaking.
I've carried a zippo in my pocket for years, you never know when or how you're going to need to use it, but it would certainly be nice not to have to run to the glove box every timei forget to fill it
Yeah cool, but... a proper butane insert is just so much superior in my opinion. The classic style of a zippo and not having to fill it up every few weeks just because of evaporation... what do you need more?
Carry both. With matches and a magnifying lens. And the refill canister. I have been out in the cold and thought my body heat would keep the butane gaseous. And it doesn’t.
With Zippo owning Ronson, they now also recommend using Ronson lighter fluid. I've heard that Zippo lighter fluid is better but in my experience tends to only last the same length of time as other lighter fuels.

I am thinking that Kerosene lasts much longer in Zippo lighters without evaporates less than using Zippo lighter fluid. Try it.

I just found an old one I had in a pack. I had forgot it for 3 years. Still full of fuel. Nice

So are you saying you can never put the lid back on?

The instruction paper that comes with the lighter literally tells you to put flints under the felt pad. How in the fuck did you not know to do that?
If you take a wick and roll it up, you'll be able to stuff it in the outer cap. I have one in mine.
After watching this, I have just ordered one, many thanks 😊
I really like this handy tool --- I keep one in my go-bag.
Straight to the point, nice explanations and you showed everything ! Thanks for this review !

I've always used the edge of the open lid of the case to remove the flint screw.
I just a coin, usually always have one on me.
I use a coin or screw driver because using the cap messes the lid a bit

@@doejon9424 nope the brushless flex volt 60 v 12 Amp impact drill dewalt always does the job. In case the screw too tight you have that extra power
That scratches/rubs the material off the lid though, but very practical
Dang it! Yet another thing that suddenly I MUST HAVE!!!
Lol. I hear ya.
Do you even have a zippo?

that little vent hole diameter was set by a team of lawyers. it calls out to be a bit bigger.

Cool. Makes me want to start smoking again! I love my Zippos.
Thanks! Just ordered one lol
Lost the plastic flint holder almost immediately!!! Keep up the great vids!!!
Excellent review! Thank you!!
I can see it as a quick emergency fire source for a camp fire in addition to refilling the Zippo lighter
I think so.
for a real rush, use raw lighter fluid on a t shirt with a ferro rod. i call it the self immolation challenge.
touch it to the zippo cotton insert it will fill it up much faster
Is putting extra flint underneath the cotton a normal thing?
Yes! And lots of folks only put one in the hole in the felt (I usually put the tip of the fluid bottle in there so I keep spares under the felt).
It's pretty common, you should change your flint as soon as it begins to tilt heavily under the wheel, if it gets too small it will jam the striker and be a pain to remove.

the canister will hold fluid for as long as it is sealed, with no place to evaporate to it will all stay inside
Y’all will probably hate me but u use the case for the opening the new cans of fluid and to tighten and losen the flint screw
Could you do a review of the zippo hand warmer? Im curious on your take of the hand warmer
This can probably Be useful because of how quick the fuel kinda drys and doesn’t stay.
Ronson fluid is better than Zippo oryginal one?

Zippo should make a small 2oz Can! Just like there 4oz and 12 oz versions. That would be perfect. Zippo could make a lot of money!!!💸
