No hate or anything, but was curious. How did they ruin the character with that line? That’s more or so the same thing he says to David Mason at the end of BO2. If you choose to kill Mason, and they go visit his grave. “It’s the price we pay for what we do”
If anything, to me that shows he uses that line of thinking to cope with what happened, it’s not perfect as he had moments where he gets upset, but atleast its something that helps him sleep at night, knowing what he did.
The thing with Woods is I don't think the 2025 setting is cannon anymore, considering that they tied Modern Warfare into the story, I don't see how they'd be able to justify the technologic advancements shown in BO2 in such a short time, so they're probably rewriting how woods handled the entire situation.
And it’s probably why the next call of duty is reported to be a bo2 sequel where they will probably rewrite the story of David Mason and Raul Menendez maybe?

As someone who is not really into-and utterly confused by-the whole Black Ops lore, this video is a very well-written recap I wasn't really there for the golden era of COD, since AAA gaming was not really well known in my country (and was hella expensive). I even only started playing BO1 like in 2019 when I got my first pc, and I couldn't really follow where the story is going halfway through BO2... To this day, I haven't tried BO3 because of the change in setting (didn't really like the shift into a futuristic one), and BO4... well you know how that game goes. They fumbled by making the prequel comic, that if you read it, the whole story makes sense. Basically, Taylor’s character is another guy named Dylan Stone which Taylor was sent to kill Stone’s rouge team. All missions are true and happened, but they’re reversed and they trip you out with the whole Virus aspect, you’re just seeing memories through a dying man’s brain.
Having played all the black ops games, I agree with you to a certain extent. Black Ops 1 was a chefs kiss, perfecto. I felt like BO2 was an odd but nice dip into futuristic warfare, although at the ripe old age of 13 I did think it was weird that they didn’t do a direct sequel to BO1 in the 70s/80s. When BO3 came out I played the campaign but don’t remember anything of it like I do with BO1 and BO2. At that point I had resigned myself to the Zombies game mode as I felt like the storyline and characters were much better than the campaign (even as convoluted as the Aether storyline is). Zombies was good, some people thought it was too easy, I liked it. And finally for BO6, I do see how some stuff feels like it was shoehorned and it’s a goddamn shame that certain writers and actors didn’t reprise their roles but I thought the storyline was decent. If BO1 is a 10/10 I give BO6 a 7.5/10. However I’m really liking the zombies. Feels harder than BOCW, but not too much harder. Easter eggs were a fun challenge, especially adding the difficulty of completing the dark ops challenges for each. Guns are good, storyline I think is good. I think they did well with BO6 and would like to see them continue with the somewhat darker, shady intelligence agency themes in the campaign. I’m looking forward to how they continue the storyline in the future, hopefully keeping it either mid-late 20th century or early 21st century. No more futuristic settings. Loved the zombies implementation in the campaign tho…but man was it creepy af… Would honestly love if they allowed more weird phantasy driven stories ala „mad scientist raises zombies“ in future cod campaigns…was awesome
Personally i loved the zombie mission in blops 6. It was such a nice change of pace and atmosphere. It was a fresh and fun little sidetrack in the story. Fighting the boss monsters from zombies and even getting that classic zombies music was amazing.
43:39 to answer that question, Jane recovering from the drug’s effects saw a vision into the future realizing she can’t kill woods because he has to be alive in Black ops II
Or if you actually read what she said, was your suffering will end soon, which is what Menendez says. She was the Panama mole and his suffering isn’t over yet.
I honestly like how woods is still this badass together dude, I feel like the new era of call Of duty is still tryna add iconic characters and to a point make the legacy characters almost superheroes. Which I’m fine with. Take Ghost for example. Bro at this point is CODs Master Chief.
I think Woods in Bo6 complements his 2025 self really well. From putting up an independent facade to being irritable given he’s in a nursing home (as in having no choice but to simmer with his own regrets) makes sense. Filling in that time gap with woods wanting to raise David mason only helps.
I think Case's story is more interesting than Bell's, even if there's unanswered questions about him.. And unlike Bell we had an actually established (although not said in dialogue) name. William Calderon. Although I'm a little disappointed that they didn't give him any voice, considering there were still dialogue options so he wasn't entirely quiet.
The one thing i dont like is how forced adlers character was in the stories Like random events magically are tied to Adler They also force him to try and be a captain price type character and ultra badass
I feel BO2 Woods is so regretful because he's talking to Mason's son, AND Menendez, (the person he failed to kill) is currently a threat to the entire world.
I remember learning from one of my friends that you could actually save mason instead of killing him. I tried to recreate it myself and when I succeeded it was one of the best moments of gaming in my life. it was like....wtf ....this type of stuff just wasn't normal back then like it is now. twists like that came so out of left field and since the Internet was still a newish you had to find it out through the word of mouth of friends. glorious days. glorious.
I think, Adler is as fine addition and they didn’t shoehorn him in he was in the Highlands area of Vietnam, while BO1 team was in the southern part of Vietnam. The CIA isn’t just 3 people 😂
I always like the story and especially the gameplay of Cold War on its own, but I never knew how it baited with nostalgia and was crammed into the timeline like that. Still gonna like it, but that's interesting to know.
The thing is that Black Ops 6 is non-committal with Mason, as much as it can be. In BO2, Woods doesn't know Mason's alive until he shows up in the post-credit scene, and that's if you go with that ending. For them to have him show up in the campaign, or have anyone say he WASN'T dead, would break that.
Do we ever get confirmation over whether its canon if Woods killed Mason or not? I don't even understand the original cutscene frankly. If you shoot Mason in the legs Woods still reacts like he killed him, and then he's shocked in 30 years to see Mason alive. Feels like that was always just shoehorned in as a way to give fans an out in that mission, but I'd like if it were canon.
Mason kills Raul Menenedz Father Woods kills Raul Menenedz Sister Then Raul Menenedz Kills Hudson Woods(suffer & father for David Mason) Mason(fake death)
The only COD games I've played are BO3 and BO6, seriously. And by that, I mean play MP a lot and zombies and are the only two campaigns I've played. Idk what to do with that information, but there must be a reason I've only been drawn to these two. Bioshock, gears, atomic heart, and warframe are really the only games I play with shooting in them.
The worst thing call of duty has ever done has to be making playing the multiplayer mandatory if you want to play the story. DMZ was the best option they gave us and they decided to scrap that. That being said... Black Ops 6 has the best campaign since MW2019
I miss BLOP multiplayer, it actually had some of the best maps, there really aren’t any that I can think of I did not like. I hope BO6 brings some old maps back like MW3 did. I miss black ops 2 zombies. Many great memories on transit or just playing town and seeing how long we could survive. Me and my old friend Eric made it to round 42 on town and consistently made it into the 30’s.
I wish woods was built on more, but I also got the vibe of him trying to hold it together. In the campaign one of the optional dislodges was him mentioning how hes thinking about taking a step back from the CIA after this and go raise David since he felt he owed it to Mason after everything. Thought they where going to finally close woods chapter, he was showing some emotion and that he realized this wasn't his life anymore. End of the game they more they offer the team the prospect of continuing to work for the CIA and was expecting him to give some rude comment and rejecting it setting up the new cast, but no. I genuinely feel like the writers wanted to end woods but daddy Acvitision needed the nostalgia bait and multiplayer cut scenes. At least I'm enjoying zombies
Fun Fact: The US has lost six nukes total and 2 are still on US soil. one is near Savanah, Georgia and the other is in North Carolina somewhere in a field Goldsboro
Thoughts on the Case being Bell after MK Ultra 2: Electric Boogaloo, and the scene at the end of BOCW where Adler "kills" Bell, is Bell's "personality" being killed off/replaced with Case, since Adler had clearance at ATA around the time Case was in the program? Someone's done a video about the timelines adding up pretty closely (like Adler's ID reading that he had clearance days /before/ the Solovetsky raid)
Here is the thing i always preferred BOs story over MW. Sure, I have played some online, but I prefer the campaign. Now, to my point, I would love to see BO 1-6 campaigns mashed into a nice neat package for consoles and pc

Bo3 I understood the lore perfectly, until the ending, LIKE WTF.I never clicked a story explained video so hard
We all did 😂
15:53 it’s actually so funny because in real life Eisenhower wanted to use nukes “tactically” during Vietnam
Should have
Tbh I loved all of it. WAW-1-2-3-4-Cold war-6. Everything BO was just so good. I loved every second of it
we got the same reaction when harrow shanked woods like why shank a disabled person 😂😭
9:05 Thank you for including that iconic meme! It's one of my favorites!
thanks bro very helpful vid
"Instead of committing vehicular manslaughter" is a crazy sentence 30 seconds in
I honestly like how woods is still this badass together dude, I feel like the new era of call
Of duty is still tryna add iconic characters and to a point make the legacy characters almost superheroes.
Talking about these games being propaganda earned you a subscriber
Great video⚜️helps me a lot to keep track with the Black Ops lore❤😊 keep it up mate🍀⚜️
I found out that Perseus was a connection between Imran Zakhaev & Raul Menendez.
“He’s a f…… onion david” 💀 of cod cutscenes were pretty intense back in the day.
The one thing i dont like is how forced adlers character was in the stories
Like random events magically are tied to Adler
They also force him to try and be a captain price type character and ultra badass
🗣️ High Boi mentioned 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
I feel BO2 Woods is so regretful because he's talking to Mason's son, AND Menendez, (the person he failed to kill) is currently a threat to the entire world.
Take a shot every time he says the word shoehorn
CW and BO 6 are nice, can't say they aren't but BO 1 and 2 were fantastic and I really miss when they were new.
The high boi reference went hard asf
I thought BO2’s wood rescue was after he “dies” in BO1. Cause there was the cut scene that explains that Kravchenco came to first. And captured him…..
When i read the monster of revenge, i immediately thought of Raul Menendez. I was spot on xD.
27:34 they were, cutscenes are better done from the perspective of one of the operators instead of in camera angles
I remember learning from one of my friends that you could actually save mason instead of killing him. I tried to recreate it myself and when I succeeded it was one of the best moments of gaming in my life. it was like....wtf ....this type of stuff just wasn't normal back then like it is now. twists like that came so out of left field and since the Internet was still a newish you had to find it out through the word of mouth of friends. glorious days. glorious.
And here I thought the two (maybe three) timelines of the MW games were confusing. Turns out I just haven't played Black Ops yet 💀
Possibly the best into ever
Great video ned i didn't know much about Call of Duty: black Ops story before
Seeing m3rk be used in a small clip just makes my day only true ogs know game
17:00 im a godamn onion mason😂
They need to stop retconning the story and adding characters that weren't mentioned in the original stories unless they remaster them and add them in
I think, Adler is as fine addition and they didn’t shoehorn him in he was in the Highlands area of Vietnam, while BO1 team was in the southern part of Vietnam. The CIA isn’t just 3 people 😂
I always like the story and especially the gameplay of Cold War on its own, but I never knew how it baited with nostalgia and was crammed into the timeline like that. Still gonna like it, but that's interesting to know.
I don’t think it’s crammed in it makes send since from BO1-BO2 is quite large gap of years and, so much happens
Proud to say I experienced BO1 and BO2 at its peak.
Had bo1 on wii and mw1 on wii it was crazy lmao
Do we ever get confirmation over whether its canon if Woods killed Mason or not? I don't even understand the original cutscene frankly. If you shoot Mason in the legs Woods still reacts like he killed him, and then he's shocked in 30 years to see Mason alive. Feels like that was always just shoehorned in as a way to give fans an out in that mission, but I'd like if it were canon.
Mason kills Raul Menenedz Father
Woods kills Raul Menenedz Sister
Then Raul Menenedz Kills Hudson
Woods(suffer & father for David Mason)
Mason(fake death)
What you said about woods I was saying I hope they do this before the game csme out sad to see they didn’t I ain’t played it yet 😊
I played all of these and didn't remember any the story, great vid! I actually met Rebecca playing black ops 1 multiplayer
Aw haha thats awesome
Hear me out tho... it WAS Menendez in the body bag... it just wasn't RAOUL Menendez. 💀
26:56 "hes a fkn onion david" never laughed so hard
The felix tape clip got me rolling bro I talked to him but didn’t get that dialogue lol
Someone's done a video about the timelines adding up pretty closely (like Adler's ID reading that he had clearance days /before/ the Solovetsky raid)
i like how everyone seems to not connect advanced warfare as being a unpolished BO3
Great video. Listening to it i thought it would have like 1m+ views.
Curiously, zombie lore is canon in the same universe and Krapchenco was in charge of that project, it's chaos🤣
I was born in 2010 and bo1 and bo2 are two of the greatest games ever to me
imma be honest i like the open world desert section in bo6.
3:28 FRIENDLY FIRE 🗣️🗣️
Here is the thing i always preferred BOs story over MW. Sure, I have played some online, but I prefer the campaign. Now, to my point, I would love to see BO 1-6 campaigns mashed into a nice neat package for consoles and pc
Remaster of World at War and BO1 and bow tie that package.
Wild really cause black ops 3 is the best campaign in the franchise
that’s your very unpopular opinion
😂😂
High Boi mentioned!!
23:10 that one solider that wasnt a sleeper agents was a real one
I believe Mason is alive despite him being dead is canon, like every character think he's dead, it just writers making tricks for later surprise.
I think personally as my dad raised me on waw-bo3 I wanna see a remaster of bo2 or an in between of bo6 and bo2 to watch David grow up
Maybe see him as a new recruit private making his climb in the ranks or what happens after menendez. Who he got romantic with for his 2 daughters?
We actually don’t know if mason killed jfk it’s hinted that he did but it’s one of those things where they give you information and your mind can do as it pleases
