I'm with you and probably one of very very few who remember W@W. A lot of people seem to believe that Black Ops was OG zombies or just completely forget about W@W where it all started. It seems to me like Treyarch is hopping on the "let's make zombies wild, THEN force the story around the gameplay" wagon. It's not a bad thing, it's cool they're trying to put some story into it but I'm just not a fan
@@kharnsagara The point being that a lot of people have the game and actively know and play or have played the WaW maps. I got WaW on pc for modded and ended up playing more unmodded than not. Though I’m not sure what you’re getting at with your second point, the modding community is comprised of a fanbase that loves the original games, this goes for any modded community, but I guess what I’m saying doesn’t matter anyway if you’re trying to gatekeep you’ll find a reason to justify it
@boooogles lol I'm gatekeeping cause I play them vanilla? If that's what your take away is then you can feel offended about it. I was just saying i don't need mods to enjoy the game. Gate keeping would be more along the lines of "true fans don't need mods"
Anything related to time travel or dimension traveling is confusing as shit. Too many time loops and plot holes that come up and leaves nothing to be completed in the end.
I was just telling my buddy how I've done all the easter eggs but I was always so focused on beating them that I never followed the lore. This was definitely worth the watch
If they make a standalone Call of Duty’s Zombies game with great storytelling, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. And the game should include something like a story mode + classic zombies survival with all the maps.
And should also add something like what they had in bo3 for pc where people could make their own custom maps but for consoles too. That’d be awesome imo
Revelations was the best way to cap off the zombies storyline at least for me b/c I have not played BO4 (yes I saw the ending in tag der toten) and revelations was the map I replayed the shit out of over the summer of 2017 and I got to prestige master twice (main account got perma banned by trolls) and I would always wake up in the morning get on fire up a solo game of rev and then when I got my set up. Perkaholic, pack a punched thunder gun and the apothican servant, Arnies and grav spikes. I would run around the map hit all 3 teddy bears and go sit in the power room in Verruckt and just prepare to be sitting there from morning until night just firing the apothican in the middle of the room so it would suck up the zombies and then pull my thunder gun or my pack a punched mule kick gun when the shadowman decided to throw a margwa or Panzer in my face. Ah good times and this song made it even better and I never got tired of hearing it. Elenas voice is just god tier and very soothing. Zombies holds a special place in my heart b/c back when my friend and I finished the world at war co op campaign (my friend had already beaten it solo but he didn’t tell me until after the last mission) but anyways he told me that if we skip the credits we are gonna be thrown into a bonus mode and then when we spawned in Nacht. I remember asking my friend ok so where are the enemies do we have to clear this building out? And then I heard a moan and my friend told me to go find the source of the moaning and I had my first ever encounter w/ a zombie tearing down one of the wooden barriers (I knew what a zombie was thx to dead rising) and I remember being scared shitless that I ended up getting downed so I ended the game and did not touch zombies until BO1 came out. I then made some friends that wanted to play Kino and I slowly got used to zombies and then when moon came out. I loved the story and was starting to catch up on the current lore at the time then B02 came out and more lore and then BO3 and I remember I was playing Zetsubou w/ my best friend and he was like holy shit bro. You went from being scared of zombies to a badass zombie slayer that always takes the big risks (examples are taking a huge train of zombies in a small area, soloing Easter eggs b/c I did rev, DE and Zetsubous EEs solo after I did it w/ ppl and hell I would solo the rev and Zetsubou ees for my friends in co op as well) but yeah zombies has always cheered me up and I’m glad that I gave it a Second chance those many many years ago.
Same here bro! Much love for zombies it's like watching a child grow up watching it evolve and finally having all the perks at once (without doing an Easter egg, which I always dreamed of) is like the pinnacle of zombie slaying. It's been a long road but we have finally made it.
To me tag was actually the best end for zombies. The only way to stop the cycle of pain and suffering was to ensure the ones responsible for the paradox (primis and ultimis) aren't a live to keep the cycle going. Not everyone gets the happy ending but at least the old crew did accomplish their goal. The children grew up in a world free from the undead free from the Aether's corruption. They faced the horrors of the dark aether as adults who unknowingly were living up to their predecessors by protecting their new home
I know the more confusing side of the lore, so watching this was actually very easy to understand. I definitely applaud your ability to condense about ½ a days worth of information into ½ an hour. There were some things you missed, but you definitely had most if not everu significant story detail, so great work!
The Ultimis/ Primis storyline will never be outperformed by these newer COD titles. What I loved the most about zombies (WaW- BO3) is that they included some historical truth, which really added to the scary factor! 🧟🧟🧟 I can't get the same feeling with the new zombies...
Well i kinda followed the story line and i knew what was going al al these time. But this was by far the most understandable video at this date for me. Some parts in the storyline it self was a bit confusing but thanks to u i got it al cleared out now. Thanks m8 and please keep us up to date on the next zombies maps. 🙏🏻 And of course u got my sub.. take it bcause u deserved it
its funny, I knew the aether storyline up until everything was banished to the dark aether, so i came here to see how the old storyline connects with the cold war one and ended up learning a lot. thanks for this great video
I like how we're talking about Lovecraftian gods, different dimensions, magic, and alien technology in a CALL OF DUTY game that always made me laugh lol
i think its healthier to make your own canon for this story, because this is too complex. I wish they actually had written a set story from the start, not just keep adding stuff to the story from the dlcs with no thought whatsoever
Wow, Cold War is my first COD Zombies, the whole story is insane, it seems like the story is a lot simpler now. Will COD Vanguard Zombies continue Cold War's Zombies story or it will have like a prequel zombie story?
So vanguard is gonna be the prequel to cold war zombies. All the stuff that went down during ww2 with alexandra's dad and stuff we will most likely witness in vanguard zombies
Ngl up until BO3 zombies was the only thing drawing me back, but it got too burdensome. This just went to provide me with everything I missed. I feel as though even had I wasted my life playing the games to discover *THIS* level of depth is way beyond me. Good job, I hope this video, the comment, and my new sub helps pay the bills.
COD Zombies in 2016: Oh cool so the whole timline is connected a loop, how neat! 2 years later: So about that time loop, scratch that, some mobster just did something different for once.
The Aether zombies story line is honestly one of the coolest video game stories aesthetically. The issue I have with it is it feels like they tried too hard to tie gameplay elements into the story. It feels like a cop out when the explanation for literally everything is inter dimensional demons and time travel.
Still can't believe the original group are gone forever, I'm hoping they'll include them in the next zombies maps, seeing as how they were banished to the dark aether, and Sam seems to be able to traverse there safely
Glad you enjoyed it! I think a lot of those other videos are a couple years old and not all the info was available so most of the time they would just go off theories that were agreed upon in reddit and other zombie forums
I'll help you here So to understand before I explain, I'll explain which locations are from which game World at Waw: The only storyline map was Der Reise Black ops 1: Kino Der Toten, Ascension, Call of the dead, Shangri-la and Moon Black ops 2: Nuketown Zombies, Tranzit, Die Rise, Mob of the dead, Buried and Origins Black ops 3: Shadows of evil, Der Eisendrache, Zetsubo No Shima, Gorod Krovi and Revelations Black ops 4: Blood of the dead, Alpha Omega and Tag der Toten And then of course the cold war maps So the early stuff with the apothicans and keepers are from Black ops 3. Most of the stuff involving ultimus happen in world at war and black ops 1 Nuketown (bo2) and Moon (bo1) happen simultaneously Then victus group, aside from being waken by Nikolai from being frozen, their whole story happens in Black ops 2, being woke up in black ops 4. The documented region discovering 115 and opening the gateway to agartha all happen in the final map of black ops 2. Primus taking the souls of themselves all happens in Black ops 3 The battle on agartha against the apothicans and the paradox happen on the final map of black ops 3 Revelations Then the confusing stuff with Primus and Ultimus joining forces and Nikolai destroying the summoning key leaving just one universe, that all happens in Black ops 4 Hope this helps :)
I’ve always avoided zombies. It’s never really been for me, but my boy has gotten me into the BO6 zombies (terminus) the more he talks about Easter eggs and old games it got me interested. Now I’m using my precious sleep time to soak in all zombie knowledge
Do you plan on covering Forsaken and the upcoming Vanguard zombies storyline? I hope so because I finally understood the storyline thanks to your video.

I lost interest in COD games like 6 years ago and up until this video I had no idea they actually built an entire lore around how the zombies appeared. This video is awesome I might have to get the next COD game. Zombies was what I enjoyed the most.
So basically this is a story with a lot of "but wait!" I remember I kept up with it and than just got to lost. Also I loved that all this stories stuff started off in the beginning as some Easter eggs in a side zombie game, just.. well growing up with codblack ops I'm just amazed because I remember the beginning of it all. It was like oh cool this game has a zombie game with it and it's multi-player, time for split screen and late night gaming with your friends just to see how long you can survive. Than you discovered some small Easter eggs from youtube back when there wasn't so much ads and rules. And it slowly grows into a more detailed big story with time traveling and other dimension as more games come out while the game still tells another story with woods and everything. Like... just wow.
I honestly never liked the lovecraftian direction of the stories after shadows of evil and feel like zombies could've ended at origins, but this was a great background video thank you
Me neither I feel it could have ended at buried you either help maxis or richtofen but at the end of it all everyone is screwed consequences of man tampering with stuff curiosity killed the cat if you may
I feel like you could be a very good professor/teacher or an actual historian (if you aren't already), because this is summed up very well, and you go back to previous information when people forget stuff. You also have the perfect voice for it, and good visuals on screen. Do you know if Burgertown from Infection in exozombies is related at all in terms of story to the one in Forsaken?

I came from your newer tiktoks and this is the first time I had an idea of the complete story. Thanks so much for your work and time. God bless you bro 🙏🏽
This will probably get buried, but for some clarity: This is a very abridged (but still great) summary of the story that can’t capture many of the nuances and small details. For example: Group 935 was founded to be a group without borders dedicated to mankind’s betterment. They turned to Germany for the war because of the funding. Most of the different universes also have names. Along with that, there are still a handful of unsolved ciphers years later. It’s crazy. Development is also an issue. Black Ops 4 saw much of the zombies funding put towards the Chaos story to attract newer audiences. Cold War was originally supposed to be a Sledgehammer title, who backed out and threw it onto Treyarch. That’s why Treyarch did Cold War AND Vanguard (we don’t talk about this one) back-to-back. Other than that, there was lots of exchanging hands and differing visions in Black Ops 1-3. The story seems cobbled together sometimes because it literally was. Lastly, there are multi-hour storyline videos that exist and really lay out every detail from black ops 1 to black ops 4, skipping over the chaos story. If you liked this video, you’d like one of those too.
i clicked on the video bc it was only 26 minutes and when he said "okay the end" i laughed thinking there was gonna be another five mutes to finish it up and then saw i was only 7 mins in lol bro squeezed so much info in here
Great video. Really helped me grasp an understanding of the video game series i used to love as a kid. I kinda only knew the story up until bo3 if im honest, after that it went a lil too confusing but this video helped me see what was made of the story afterwards. Thanks
Ima just gonna say it all ends at 16:36 and call it a day. As confusing as the timeline is with so many dimensions and copies of people, it still has cohesion. Whatever was happening after that just doesnt make sense, my head cannon stops there.
11 year old me back in 2010 would’ve never thought this zombies lore is really that deep. I mean, i was familiar with Samantha and element 115 and Maxis but holy shit.
The quickest way to completely ruin a story/ plot is to add in different universes, dimensions, and timelines! They started out great! and then everything became complicated and weird. Not even enjoyable anymore.
Just to clear up a bit of a ‘plotline’. The reason Maxis in Agartha frees the Shadow Man from the Summoning Key is because when he was reborn by Monty he lacked his soul and only had his brain. Without a soul, he couldn’t resist the Shadow Man’s temptations due to being an empty husk, which manipulated him.
A long long long long time ago in a galaxy far far far far away a very good person delivered us a video on cod zombies explaining the lore that isn’t two and a half hours long thank you
feel like they should have made Cold War a lot clearer after ending the storyline in BO4. Dark Aether didn’t need to exist, they could have just made a new storyline like in Exo Zombies or Infinite Warfare
@@milannikolic3215cut out everything past bo3 and the unnecessary complicated stuff is gone too. The early plot was expansive not over complicated tho. Like literally middle school level understanding necessary.
dont forget the alien dinosaurs was alied to the apothicons aswell but then then mr. peterson lost a bet to dr. monty and the had to fuck a dinosaur , then his wife found out so he had to get rid of the evidence and deleted the dinos form existance. but shadow man was watching all this and was about to tell his wife. after monty found out he went to war with the shadow realm. really important lore found in a cipher in zetsubo no shitima. i hope it all makes sense now
@@TheZigg I think the issue was making CW zombies use the MP operators, instead of having a dedicated cast for zombies. Half of the zombies story is in the characters, and as much as we may like McClain and Rambo for getting killstreaks in MP, they have nothing to add to the story in zombies.
@@Schregger I kinda like the operators rather than the actual characters I like the feeling of just being a soldier working for an organization and watching it all unfold around me and before you try to invalides my opinion no cold war isnt my first zombies game my first zombies game was WaW

@@savirahye I completely agree if they recorded enough voicelines for the cutscene for each character and give them voice lines for specific maps and situations would be great
Great video on such a complicated storyline honestly the best explanation of it in such a short video, insane to play through the progress of this story through out the years
So what I got out of this video is just confirming my belief that all the lore add-ons past BO2 are actual dogshit and ruin the story on top of bringing it to the point of being overly convoluted in the worst sense as well as outright telling you the story instead of letting you figure it out through tiny pieces of info and clues well hidden throughout the different levels and Easter eggs. They should have just ended the first storyline with the original cast and the BO2 cast at the end of BO2 like they originally did and started a whole new thing for BO3 and continued with the cool 20’s noir and eldritch horror aspects which I was totally hooked on until I saw the ending of the Easter egg and was left scratching my head thinking “what the fuck is this bullshit, your story’s fucking over”. Likewise they should have kept the new Black Ops separate as well instead of also shoehorning the continuation of the story into it making it even more convoluted and dragged out. It’s the definition of milking a story long after it should have ended like most TV shows run longer than they should so you see it sour and get bad instead of leaving off at a much more natural and satisfying point while it’s still good and only facing a little bit of drop off.
Yeah they should've stopped at that ending or the one where they're reborn as kids... But they just had to fuck everything up, pull some stupid twist that fucks with characters, and then basically say "ok fuck it, we're done." And fucking kills/erases everything that was built up over the past decade. Such a stupid betrayal of an ending.
At the very end you say “Janus” as in “Jay-ness” but it’s actually pronounced “Ya-noose”, like the Roman god of gates, time, beginnings, doorways, transitions, passages, and endings. Seems pretty fitting for such a teleportation and time travel heavy story, no?
There’s a lot of boring to get and go over intel that’s really important in Cold War lore like about the one, maxis interrogations from the director that are very similar to the one with Hudson and mason having the director be in a room above her like Hudson shocking maxis like mason and they even have some conversations that mason and Hudson had word for word
Im only guessing bit I think hudson is the director. He's the only one I know that wore a watch and a suit like that. Would be pretty cool if I'm right. Also I didn't want to go too in depth on samantha because it made my script pretty confusing. I may dedicate a video to her story

It seems to me like Treyarch is hopping on the "let's make zombies wild, THEN force the story around the gameplay" wagon. It's not a bad thing, it's cool they're trying to put some story into it but I'm just not a fan
@@kharnsagaraWaW is huuuge in the modded zombies community
@boooogles no one is talking about mods. Sorry I enjoy games the way they're intended

I feel bad for any casual zombie players 🤣
They’ll catch up eventually
took em for a quick rollercoaster
Yeah ive been playing cod for years but never paid attention to the zombies and im so confused
Look at how many likes we got on this post
I haven't touched COD in years. I thought the story back then in BO2 was confusing enough. Man have I missed a lot
I was just telling my buddy how I've done all the easter eggs but I was always so focused on beating them that I never followed the lore. This was definitely worth the watch
Well now you can tell him about the lore lol. Glad you enjoyed the video
If they make a standalone Call of Duty’s Zombies game with great storytelling, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
And the game should include something like a story mode + classic zombies survival with all the maps.
Me too
Underrated comment bro
Yeah man they could do something cool with a zombie campaign along with the multiplayer
And should also add something like what they had in bo3 for pc where people could make their own custom maps but for consoles too. That’d be awesome imo
One day.
MARK MY WORD !
I loved the cut of, "She is one psychotic" lmao it was so good
Bo1 zombies consumed years of my life. Ascension will always be my favorite map.
Ok wow! You almost made me cry reading through this. I’m glad to hear that someone else feels this way about zombies!
Same here bro! Much love for zombies it's like watching a child grow up watching it evolve and finally having all the perks at once (without doing an Easter egg, which I always dreamed of) is like the pinnacle of zombie slaying. It's been a long road but we have finally made it.
such a throwback
To me tag was actually the best end for zombies. The only way to stop the cycle of pain and suffering was to ensure the ones responsible for the paradox (primis and ultimis) aren't a live to keep the cycle going. Not everyone gets the happy ending but at least the old crew did accomplish their goal. The children grew up in a world free from the undead free from the Aether's corruption. They faced the horrors of the dark aether as adults who unknowingly were living up to their predecessors by protecting their new home
Imagine playing this much cod zombies
Dude you voice of perfect for this I’ve been wanting to know the full story line in depth again keep it up mate :)

@common_legend __ clearly you guys didn’t get the joke. Or maybe. You joke didn’t get guys
You explained it the best anyone probably could but I'm still completely dazzled
I can't get the same feeling with the new zombies...
I mean, from waw till bo2 zombies lore was just real life conspiracy theory which makes it 1000% better than what happens afterwards, imo
It’s cause one of the guys responsible for that story line left trey arch around bo3 bo4
Bo3 was officially the end of the storyline. But of course they had to extend it because activision

& fog rolling in
26:04 love how 3 Price’s from 2018 and a yellow biker suit Portnova from 1981 are fighting Valentina in 1985.
Who knows anymore lol. Time travel right
Still can't believe the original group are gone forever, I'm hoping they'll include them in the next zombies maps, seeing as how they were banished to the dark aether, and Sam seems to be able to traverse there safely
Richtofen isn't though, his child self was the only other one to survive with Sam and Richtofen himself became the director of Requiem in Cold War
This is why I like zombies because of the mystery and the story, not just because of the game mode itself
Bro this is a perfect story. Every other story I’ve heard abt zombies story line is trash and makes no sense but this one, is perfect
Glad you enjoyed it! I think a lot of those other videos are a couple years old and not all the info was available so most of the time they would just go off theories that were agreed upon in reddit and other zombie forums
It would've been pretty neat to know which stories came from which game, I'm new in Cold War and this is intriguing
Thank you for not bashing me for it. I'm writing that down right now so I remember it for my next video.
I'll help you here
So to understand before I explain, I'll explain which locations are from which game
World at Waw: The only storyline map was Der Reise
Black ops 1: Kino Der Toten, Ascension, Call of the dead, Shangri-la and Moon
Black ops 2: Nuketown Zombies, Tranzit, Die Rise, Mob of the dead, Buried and Origins
Black ops 3: Shadows of evil, Der Eisendrache, Zetsubo No Shima, Gorod Krovi and Revelations
Black ops 4: Blood of the dead, Alpha Omega and Tag der Toten
And then of course the cold war maps
So the early stuff with the apothicans and keepers are from Black ops 3.
Most of the stuff involving ultimus happen in world at war and black ops 1
Nuketown (bo2) and Moon (bo1) happen simultaneously
Then victus group, aside from being waken by Nikolai from being frozen, their whole story happens in Black ops 2, being woke up in black ops 4.
The documented region discovering 115 and opening the gateway to agartha all happen in the final map of black ops 2.
Primus taking the souls of themselves all happens in Black ops 3
The battle on agartha against the apothicans and the paradox happen on the final map of black ops 3 Revelations
Then the confusing stuff with Primus and Ultimus joining forces and Nikolai destroying the summoning key leaving just one universe, that all happens in Black ops 4
Hope this helps :)

I lost interest in COD games like 6 years ago and up until this video I had no idea they actually built an entire lore around how the zombies appeared. This video is awesome I might have to get the next COD game. Zombies was what I enjoyed the most.
I like how the story for call of duty zombies didn’t have to be this complex and convoluted but it just is because
So basically this is a story with a lot of "but wait!" I remember I kept up with it and than just got to lost. Like... just wow.
I honestly never liked the lovecraftian direction of the stories after shadows of evil and feel like zombies could've ended at origins, but this was a great background video thank you
Me neither I feel it could have ended at buried you either help maxis or richtofen but at the end of it all everyone is screwed consequences of man tampering with stuff curiosity killed the cat if you may
I mean this is a really effective cost saving measure just walk into the nearest mental hospital and use whatevers written on the cell walls

@callofdutyUS I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks God Bless you too man!
No matter how many times i learn about the timeline and lore, im always lost in the end
Perfect of example of not keeping it simple. Call of Duty Zombies should just be, soldiers fighting zombies.
This is the most comprehensive storyline vid ive seen so far
This will probably get buried, but for some clarity:
This is a very abridged (but still great) summary of the story that can’t capture many of the nuances and small details.
Thanks
Thank you so much for this it was very helpful to get a refresh of the whole storyline
You're very welcome!
Ima just gonna say it all ends at 16:36 and call it a day. As confusing as the timeline is with so many dimensions and copies of people, it still has cohesion. Whatever was happening after that just doesnt make sense, my head cannon stops there.
I can only process this one minute at a time. So it’s literally going to take me 26 hours to watch this.
11 year old me back in 2010 would’ve never thought this zombies lore is really that deep. I mean, i was familiar with Samantha and element 115 and Maxis but holy shit.
Cod zombies lore is comparable to how confusing/long fnaf lore is.
The quickest way to completely ruin a story/ plot is to add in different universes, dimensions, and timelines! They started out great! and then everything became complicated and weird. Not even enjoyable anymore.
Dunno what you mean I liked it actually
COD zombies has a better story than any COD campaign 😭
Overcomplicated doesnt mean better
@@milannikolic3215cut out everything past bo3 and the unnecessary complicated stuff is gone too. The early plot was expansive not over complicated tho. Like literally middle school level understanding necessary.

dont forget the alien dinosaurs was alied to the apothicons aswell but then then mr. peterson lost a bet to dr. monty and the had to fuck a dinosaur , then his wife found out so he had to get rid of the evidence and deleted the dinos form existance. but shadow man was watching all this and was about to tell his wife. after monty found out he went to war with the shadow realm. really important lore found in a cipher in zetsubo no shitima. i hope it all makes sense now
Waw-bo1 (perfect story)
Bo2-bo4 (detailed/amazing story)
CW (boring)
Yea they could've done better with cold war. Hopefully treyarch makes up for it in Vanguard zombies
@@sillykot9970 i respectively disagree. They should’ve added more voice lines for the operators if they wanted to use them. It would’ve added so much to the immersion and the maps just feel empty without it which is really sad as Cold War zombies was the point I lost interest in the story sadly.
@@savirahye I completely agree if they recorded enough voicelines for the cutscene for each character and give them voice lines for specific maps and situations would be great

Great video on such a complicated storyline honestly the best explanation of it in such a short video, insane to play through the progress of this story through out the years
Damn. I didn’t even realize how connected all the games are.
Who remembers where the lore was just 2 German scientist discovering an element capable of creating zombies
Peak zombies
RIP COD WAW
Yeah they should've stopped at that ending or the one where they're reborn as kids... But they just had to fuck everything up, pull some stupid twist that fucks with characters, and then basically say "ok fuck it, we're done." And fucking kills/erases everything that was built up over the past decade. Such a stupid betrayal of an ending.
This story remains great. Really love that they went all out with story.
I’m so happy to see an old Syndicate Zombies clip in here 😂
