It's reimagining not remake. It doesn't capture many nuances, changes dialogues, scenes, is heavily influence by films, which are also not true to the source material. Instead of James we have Jake Summerland, who is a soyboy. There's like 20% of Silent Hill 2 in reimagining. In other words title of your video is wrong. How can you explain a story behind SH 2 without playing Silent Hill 2, when devs weren't even able to grasp opening scene , which they completely butchered? In SH2 James is checking if the man in the mirror is really him. There's even quite funny reference to that in SIlent Hill 3. Check what Heather has to say, when you want to interact with the mirror. James doesn't know he murdere his wife, that's why he's freaky weird in SH 2. They way he acts and talks. Here you are given lame sopa opera interactions between characters. Unnecessary scenes. Plus they mixed reality with two versions of Silent Hill. Foggy and hellish. Why there's rain in hellish hospital? Why there are nurses on the streets? Why "James" is dragging Red Pyramid Thing's knife? Many things are shoved down players throat that there's no room for interpretation. Just play Enhanced Edition on PC and you will see for yourself. The first interaction with SH makes you sit at the edge of the seat, when in R you have a nice walk down the woods.

Thank you for this video! it;s probably the only way I'll get to experience this game and it's amazing story, as watching gameplay of it was triggering my motion sickness so hard I couldn't even make it 30 minutes through a playthrough.
He actually speaks Polish in Dog ending! Great video! I am familiar with OG as much as I can and it was a beautiful way of coming back to beloved horror - with a spin. Makes you appreciate the OG more, and love Remake in it's own way. The "Maria" ending in remake hits a little bit different - the way he says "You better do something about that cough" is so...threatening. While in OG it was more casual.
During my time, this game was not so much known in my country, but it sold millions or billions. It was a masterpiece back then... But now? I can't have words to describe how epic they turned this game into. All the details and everything, but what took me by surprise was the environment upgrades and specially the Abstract Daddy boss fight, soooooo good.
I believe the bliss Ending eludes to James using substances to forget/alter what he feels and not feeling regret, thus not needing to be in Silent Hill anymore.
I think the ending with Laura and the last bonus ending for this remake makes the most sense. I like the one with Laura as the Happy ending while the the remake bonus ending was my preferred bitter sweet ending which left it ambigious
42:34 in the remake he’s not speaking japanese. It’s polish language but it is spoken by an american actor thus it sounds so weird. They chose polish language because remake is made by Bloober Team, a studio from Poland.

I was so confused after watching the gameplay of silent hill 2 but you cleared up all my questions with a awesome video. Loved the funny clips In between honestly, it was needed. You have the perfect voice for this. Great work. Got a new follower 😊
3 crucial things you forgot to mention...James is stuck in a loop where he dies over and over until the player actually finishes the story in some way The bloodied jacket belongs to James and the body where you first meet Eddie is James and when you encounter Eddie as a boss fight if you look closely at the bodies...all of them are James James is schizophrenic...every time you end the game regardless of the ending he forgets Mary(corpse in the back seat) is in his car and then he starts to search for her all over again...although that is not applicable to some of the endings. These are parts that you missed and there are probably more that I also missed.
ALl the corpses that Eddie has left behind before the final confrontation are actually versions of James. You could make the assumption that, in times past, James may have bullied a fat kid.
I got the tragic sad ending (the Water) & it felt fitting. What a journey & what a story, sad AF. Great approach to psychology, bereavement, loss & guilt.

this is a near perfect remake along with re1, 2, and 4 remakes. re1 remake was 100% true to the original with new additions. re2 remake was say 90% true to the original changing only a few things for gameplay and a couple story elements but keeping the core elements of the game intake and the core story there. re4 remake similarly to 2 is around 90% true changing only a few things from the original but those few changes make alot of sense for the story and help it feel more real. silent hill 2 remake is around 95% true to the original but thats fine the things it changes are only served to make the game better in the current gameplay. a few puzzles taken out and changed for something new, the ambiance is far better the enemies and combat are far better the combat isnt fluent but thats fine you arent some special agent like in re games you are just a guy with a 2x4 for the most part. the cutscenes with the individual characters felt so much more real and awkward where they should be. angelas story in particular is one that is more fleshed out in the remake but its far better for it same with maria her mystery in the og left people making a thousand conclusions based on the minimal evidence it gave you but in this enough is answered so you can make solid conclusions to the story of the character. eddie is much more easily hated but also much more easily pitied. everything about silent hill 2 remake is a perfect rendition of how a remake should be. respecting the original and only adding onto what was already there. even gave homages to the original with looks at old puzzles maria joking about her old outfit and so on.
The original came out when I was like 12 or 13 I was too busy playing games like halo on the Xbox. I did rent it one time as a kid and didn’t get very far. It was too complex and tedious for me to get through but dang I just finished up the remake I played with no UI and just soaked up all the atmosphere and looked at every square inch and just really got immersed 75 hours was my playtime on my first run. got the in water ending game of the year for sure for me. We got so many good horror games to play now between dead space and all the resident evil remakes now this it’s awesome.
I've played the original, but never really got into it, until I played the remake, and it's an amazing game. also not to brag, but my first play through I got the trophy for beating the game in under 10 hours and somehow managed to get the Leave end.
Is there part where you go deep into the lore explaining spirits in the beginning of the video canon? I've never played Silent Hill 1 and I'm desperate for making a presentation about Silent Hill 2. Thank you!
First video Ive seen from you, so first of all bravo. Fantastic video with deep knowledge, and a perfect touch of comedy. But second good lord these are some of the most embarrassing comments I've seen asking you to completely change the content creator you are to fit a single game they enjoy. You deserve better.
I don't really leave comments often, but I enjoyed your telling of the story and I watched until the end and it was mostly well done. However, I'd like to give you some constructive criticism... I think given the tone of this game and the dark and deep story it tells, the tone of the video should stay pretty much the same throughout. How you begun was good (aside from the weird subway surfer edit but I didn't think too much of it) and starting to dive into the story had me hooked, the music is fitting and it set the stage for what's to come. This is where my issue lies, I felt that your playthrough clips had a vibe which didn't fit your video whatsoever and jokes being told along the way really started to feel like you were losing me, I was close to just closing the video and I found myself being a little irritated with it... but I dealt with it and I'm glad I did because overall your video was well put together and I enjoyed my time. I think as a closing statement, just be decisive on what you want the tone of your video to be. If it was more upbeat and had a completely different vibe I think all of these jokes and stuff would be fitting, but here they just didn't work for me. Of course this is all my opinion and you're free to disagree, overall good video.
Yeah, that's how I felt too. It started out great until it got to the gameplay cuts that didn't match the mood of the story explanation. I was only able to make it 9.5 minutes in before having to stop and go to another video to get the same information. I came to the comments to see if I was the only one feeling that way... guess I wasn't.
I really enjoyed listening to this at work! Helped me make sense of some of my theories after getting the “Leave” ending. Throwing some gameplay in there gave me a laugh too, nice vid!!
I just wanna say I think the video is great. While a lot of people may disagree I feel that adding in the snippets of you actually playing the game and your genuine reactions, adds in a little bit of how some of us ourselves may react while actually playing the game. Regardless when it came to actually telling the story and giving it your own opinion I think you did amazing. You kept with the tone and it never really shifted. Overall it was a great video keep up the great work!
You articulated what I was thinking perfectly. I find myself going through a range of emotions while playing great horror games (fear/ humor/introspection) and liked his more authentic delivery. I understand everyone has their own opinion and tastes, but I was engaged from beginning to end.
People just expect story breakdowns of games to be told exactly as they desire in their head. The reviewer told the story in their own unique way, if people don't like that then they should go watch another review who tells it in their 'preferred' way instead of REEE'ing in the comments. Personally I think it's rather self serving and selfish to provide criticism of the tone of a video on an 'independent' youtube channel,. That's who they are and their style- who are we to judge and change that.
It's called criticism. If he doesn't recieve any, how can he improve his channel? Just because you don't agree, doesn't mean it isn't a valid criticism, because clearly some people felt strongly enough to voice their opinion in order for the channel to improve. Stop telling people to not watch it when they are actually providing feedback that can make the channel even better. Edit: Better yet, take your own advice. Don't like the comments? Stop reading them.
@@jediflip2515 yeah I mean I got 8 minutes in before I turned it off, mind you thats still a huge amount of time to sink into a video, it could have been much longer
Well I understand where they are coming from. It was very abrupt and contrasted harshly with the more intentionality glum tone in the beginning. The game however is already pretty down so I guess I didn’t mind the switch but it was definitely very strange.

So I understand Eddie and James are sinners and that's why the Silent hill called them but why Angela? She was the victim, is it because she was still traumatize and delusional that someone will help her, like what she thinks her mother. Or is there a deeper meaning for the Silent Hill?
Liked the video although the unprofessional side makes the video less appealing. I still have unanswered questions: 1 why is Laura in silent Hill? She isn't d e a d or suffering any trauma (from what we can see) 2 where are the other residents of silent hill? And why are Eddie and Angela the only two present? 3 why does James fight Angelas' demons and then fights Eddie himself? Shouldn't she be fighting her own monsters? 4 who is piramid head exactly?

hey, you are saying in a strange form the truth.
Really loved this video, I played thru the game before watching. You really fleshed things out that I didn’t understand. Good job man 👍🏿
Glad I could help!
Thank you for this video! it;s probably the only way I'll get to experience this game and it's amazing story, as watching gameplay of it was triggering my motion sickness so hard I couldn't even make it 30 minutes through a playthrough.
My head hurts from the game, it’s a mixture of James’ awkward movement and the tight spaces that causes it
The bodies we find near Eddie are actually James
I believe the bliss Ending eludes to James using substances to forget/alter what he feels and not feeling regret, thus not needing to be in Silent Hill anymore.
this was more than a game to me. it weirdly helped me learn more about myself a lot by the end of the game. thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it!! ❤️
28:49 The amount of projection was crazy in this scene. 💀
They chose polish language because remake is made by Bloober Team, a studio from Poland.
i was so confused, my family is polish and i really thought something was off with my brain because i could and coulnd't understand him. him being not a native speaker makes so much sense now. ty!
Insane Video my guy, was hooked for 50 minutes straight
Great video, man! 👍 I hope we get a remake for the original Silent Hill in the future.
It's needed and that psuedo remake where all you do is run doesn't count
Good video man ! I actually enjoy the tones you use funny and serious good content brother
The part where you said yeh James prolly went looking for edibles lmao
Thanks haha
I was so confused after watching the gameplay of silent hill 2 but you cleared up all my questions with a awesome video. Loved the funny clips In between honestly, it was needed. You have the perfect voice for this. Great work. Got a new follower 😊
Thanks for the kind words
So glad i got the "Leave" ending
That ending was heavy
i cried for 5 minutes, i cant even remember the last time i cried.
If you play the game like a normal person would, trying to figure out what happened to Mary, that's the most common ending. T_T
Sucks i got in the water shit ending
@@Eclipse89 that is the canon according to the creator themselves
3 crucial things you forgot to mention...James is stuck in a loop where he dies over and over until the player actually finishes the story in some way
The bloodied jacket belongs to James and the body where you first meet Eddie is James and when you encounter Eddie as a boss fight if you look closely at the bodies...all of them are James
James is schizophrenic...every time you end the game regardless of the ending he forgets Mary(corpse in the back seat) is in his car and then he starts to search for her all over again...although that is not applicable to some of the endings.
These are parts that you missed and there are probably more that I also missed.
I wish we could get Angela's Silent Hill version dlc ...
I don't know why Eddie wanted to kill James, he never did anything to him.
he went crazy or something
He went crazy due to his insecurities
ALl the corpses that Eddie has left behind before the final confrontation are actually versions of James. You could make the assumption that, in times past, James may have bullied a fat kid.
7:35 “the most feminine dodge ever” made me roll my eyes

Great upload for a great game now I hope they will do a Silent hill 1 remake to this standard.
I got the tragic sad ending (the Water) & it felt fitting. What a journey & what a story, sad AF. Great approach to psychology, bereavement, loss & guilt.
“This must be where the nurses are” I said the exact same thing at the exact same moment 😭😭
I wish one of the new endings was saying yes to Angela about loving and caring for her and leaving with both to start a new life together
Yo dude great video. I loved the humor and the editing is great. Kept me invested the whole time. Good video bro
Glad you enjoyed!
I've never played the game, but I was thinking about it recently, it's funny that you released this video around the same time. Great video btw, I'm glad you mixed some humor into it.
edit: I'm stupid, the remake just came out.
Great video man, you’ll always unfortunately attract the worst comments from the most toxic fan base in existence, being the SH fanbase. Just ignore it lol. You were really informative and gave comedy relief, 10/10 for me
Idk whats up with all the negative and nitpicky comments, but I love the video. Very informative for someone who doesn’t know much about the lore. Leaving a comment and like for support. 👍
I really enjoyed this video, and it explained so much! I love your editing style. I still have questions about all the dead James'
With all these people saying to stop the extra clips, I just want to say I really found this video entertaining, with the commentary always switching i found myself more engaged and entertained by the video. I get its not everyones thing, but i really enjoyed it as I don't think I was bored once throughout the video. Amazing video, if theres ever a video you make on something im interested in, ill make sure to tune in, you got yourself a sub

this is a near perfect remake along with re1, 2, and 4 remakes. re1 remake was 100% true to the original with new additions. re2 remake was say 90% true to the original changing only a few things for gameplay and a couple story elements but keeping the core elements of the game intake and the core story there. re4 remake similarly to 2 is around 90% true changing only a few things from the original but those few changes make alot of sense for the story and help it feel more real.
silent hill 2 remake is around 95% true to the original but thats fine the things it changes are only served to make the game better in the current gameplay. a few puzzles taken out and changed for something new, the ambiance is far better the enemies and combat are far better the combat isnt fluent but thats fine you arent some special agent like in re games you are just a guy with a 2x4 for the most part. the cutscenes with the individual characters felt so much more real and awkward where they should be. angelas story in particular is one that is more fleshed out in the remake but its far better for it same with maria her mystery in the og left people making a thousand conclusions based on the minimal evidence it gave you but in this enough is answered so you can make solid conclusions to the story of the character. eddie is much more easily hated but also much more easily pitied. everything about silent hill 2 remake is a perfect rendition of how a remake should be. respecting the original and only adding onto what was already there. even gave homages to the original with looks at old puzzles maria joking about her old outfit and so on.
This isn’t really explaining the story you are just explaining what happens I want to know WHY it’s all happening.
Google for Slilent Hill lore. It's not just start from SH2 alone. Now you have a long-long road to know what Silent Hill looks like.
Hey, i’m not familiar with your channel but i enjoyed the video, your editing style and jokey commentary!
Good video man!
Thank you!
I love this remake so much. They nailed it.
This video is so cool and hylarious =D
First video Ive seen from you, so first of all bravo. Fantastic video with deep knowledge, and a perfect touch of comedy. But second good lord these are some of the most embarrassing comments I've seen asking you to completely change the content creator you are to fit a single game they enjoy. You deserve better.
42:20 as the owner of a shiba inu, I can confirm this is the true ending. This is a daily occurrence for me.
Of course this is all my opinion and you're free to disagree, overall good video.
cheers! thanks for the feedback
Thanks I won’t watch the video anymore
i felt exactly the same way , without the jokes it woud be a 10/10 for me.
@@NeddyTheNoodle I disagree, love the tone, just so you know haha
Yeah, that's how I felt too. It started out great until it got to the gameplay cuts that didn't match the mood of the story explanation. I was only able to make it 9.5 minutes in before having to stop and go to another video to get the same information. I came to the comments to see if I was the only one feeling that way... guess I wasn't.
Good video!
I really liked your explanation! Not sure why people is going off at your video though, you just can't please everyone I guess.
Great video, I appreciate your tone in this
The bliss ending gives me chills…

but about dog ending, james actually starts speaking polish, cuz devs from poland yk

1:40 In other words it’s a hotspot for demons.
I found Angela to be annoyingly insufferable.
What??! Why so? I absolutely love her as a character and am just curious
I really enjoyed listening to this at work! Helped me make sense of some of my theories after getting the “Leave” ending. Throwing some gameplay in there gave me a laugh too, nice vid!!
So is silent hill a cursed town that manifests a personal hell for any who enter?
This new version just seems even more depressing and sad than the original. The original was creepier in my opinion.
"Yoo its the rocks from ark" 🤣🤣 I'm the same way. I'm playing the first decendant and I keep hearing dying lystro noises😂
YEAAA we have ptsd for sure
People complaining about the tone and clips. Dont watch it. I thought this was funny and imformative and well put together.
Agreed. It clearly had a funny vibe from the start so i see no point in complaining.
@@lukeX2m I don't speak for everyone but more often than not i listen to video essays and when it's constantly interuppted by dumb live bits it kills it for me. I dunno, just feels insulting to my intelligence and attention span
I still have unanswered questions:
1 why is Laura in silent Hill? She isn't d e a d or suffering any trauma (from what we can see)
2 where are the other residents of silent hill? And why are Eddie and Angela the only two present?
3 why does James fight Angelas' demons and then fights Eddie himself? Shouldn't she be fighting her own monsters?
4 who is piramid head exactly?
Just curious, is there a full video of you playing through the game?
nah, i agree with people in that my commentary isnt really worth hearing lol. i prefer to just explain games, not share too much of my raw stuff. thanks for the question though!
@@NeddyTheNoodle That's fair. I just thought the few commentary we heard here was pretty great. Were there a lot of things/story elements that you straight up weren't expecting?
This video was really good. Loved how you cover the game and how you kept it interesting. Now, the gameplay with commentary was so unfunny, childish and dumb that made it difficult to continue because of cringe. Good video tho
im led to believe you just wanted to mock his personality while hiding it under a few praises about the video
It really doesn’t make sense to have Pyramid Head appear outside this story doesn’t it?
didnt saw a single soul commenting that, so... nice re:zero referente there!
I absolutely love that you explain these stories really appreciate it thank you Ned !🙌
37:59 what’s the name of the music in the background

Mary's nurse gave it to james after she died. Mary wrote the letter to James but he only read the few opening lines and went on his insane quest.
