Gingy is amazing at creating storylines, but Eruptionfang easily has the best zombies story video, even though, it’s nearly 7 hours long the level of detail and dedication is insane. I couldn’t recommend his video enough
@@matman2422 MASSIVE agree, I hated zombies and thought it was boring before watching his lore video. Now I love playing it because the lore is interesting
Black Ops 3 is so underrated. Crazy plot twist that makes what would be a bog standard COD into a ridiculously deep mystery with some seriously introspective sci-fi themes. Criminally underrated. When I finally figured out what was going on I felt like a conspiracy theorist. It was really fun.
BO3 could have been such a fantastic story, but I get the feeling that the devs just didn’t have enough time to flesh it out through the campaign so they compromised by taking the coolest, most cinematic, and most important moments and putting those into gameplay while putting the rest into those scrolling text entries
I'm sorry but I snorted so hard when 17:13 the e-guitar sets in and Hudson just pulls out sunglasses That was comedic But also yay! I have been curious about the plotline(s) of Call of Duty but never got around to playing even one of the games, so happy to get a top-notch gingy-quality video on the story
Just recently replayed Black Ops 2 because I was feeling nostalgic for my PS3 era. And I wanted to go through the lore of the entirety of Black Ops but didnt want to go through the effort of playing everything (entirely a skill and laziness issue on my part lol), so thanks Gingy for this!
Ok… did not see a COD essay coming….ever…. Not from Gingy….but I’m surprised and intrigued. Curious about a game that boils down to “find enemy, shoot enemy, blow things up, hooray”
While it does boil down to shoot and blow shit up, the Black ops series have distinguished themselves as your usual COD shooters, but with better stories and writing compared to other COD stories...mostly IMO. Black ops 4 didn't have a campaign : /
Regarding the statements about Molotov-Rippentrop Pact @ 2:40; the Pact did not break upon Nazi Germany's Attack on Poland in 1939, but held until 1942 when Operation Barbarossa started. As a matter of fact, the Pact gave half of the conquered polish lands to the Soviet Union, which invaded Poland, at that point a soverign and independent nation, a week after the Nazis did.
@@saltyair898 No, the ingame events were based off history, not some crazy russian fan-fiction. In reality the Soviets invaded Poland with Germans 2 weeks after the start of the war and were friends until 1941
@@wuhlfzebayne Because Russia is invading Ukraine? And they have always wanted to deny the fact that they (even though it was technically the USSR) worked with them to divide Poland.
This will sound corny but i miss the narrative direction that wow had. it didn't glorify war and showed how grim it is. making your characters feel like survivors, not action heroes most of the time.
What I noticed in Black Ops 1 is near the end of Hudson explaining to Mason that while they have knowledge about Nova 6, he was sure there are other sleeper operations going on that he has yet to discover. This insinuates that Hudson had reasons to continue investigating sinilar actuvities going on, which lead to him gettting close to discovering The Patheon and The Patheon orchastrating a plan to remove Hudson and any close ties he has. Recruiting Jane Harrow, Michael Caine and almost recruiting Case, working with Raul Menendez to distract Hudson and his close ties enough to get them far away from The Patheon's plans and get them killed. Which led to the CIA mole supplying Raul with info (the likely candidates are either a Brainwashed Harrow or Michal Caine) leading to everything that happened in Black Ops 2. I truly hope the upcoming Warzone Cutscenes for BO6 finally sheds light so we can answer this freakin question 12 years in the making. I can only assume since Woods never mentions The Pantheon in BO2 in any way, he either helped defeated them once and for all long before that, or perhaps he was drugged and made to forget all about what happened and only remember the Raul Menendez stuff. This story still has interesting turns it can go.
@@Buuster1999fr, no other COD campaign has as many branching paths, optional missions and variations of events in missions than BO2. It certainly has the most replay value and the greatest epilogue cutscene of all time
It is worth remembering that all of the "story" (character profiles/events) of Black Ops 4 is still canon to the timeline as well which answers some of these more open ended statements.
gaming harry’s done majority of the series, just in separate chunks. this is definitely better done though, no shade to Harry. Gingy is just far more concise(and less british so bonus points)
Love the detailed descriptions and linking to real world events - great work as always! Just one slight correction from a history nerd. As you introduce Black ops Cold War, you state that the game takes place in 1981 which is "Well after the collapse of the Berlin Wall". The Berlin wall was taken down in 1989, during the closing years of the cold war, during Gorbachev's Perestroika and Glasnost policies. There's probably a typo in the script where it should be "Well after the construction of the Berlin wall", as the Berlin wall started out in 1961 as some wired fencing which gradually were built upon with walls and checkpoints throughout the 60s and 70s. Sorry for the nerd "uuhm actually".
2:44 No, Germany didn't broke the Molotov Ribbentrop pact by invading Poland. The USSR and Nazi Germany agreed to split Poland in two. The pact was broken by Germany with operation Barbarossa in 1942.
BO3 was actually great. BO3, Advanced Warfare, and IW Campaign, were great to me. It might have helped that I loved Titanfall, but I thoroughly enjoyed BO3 and Advanced Warfare.
such a great video on the story, im glad more people can finally learn about how really connected all these games are and how in depth some campaigns go
Yo Gingy at it again, insane to see some COD lore here but really appreciate it, maybe you could even have a look some day into the deep and complex Zombie Lore with Primis etc. would be sick, but will be a 3 hours+ Video for sure :D
The GOAT uploaded again! Hell yeah Also a major mistake at the begining. Literally 2:40. The German attack into Poland didn't break their pact with the USSR. Infact, it was all in their plan. USSR attacked Poland from the east right along the Germans. Then they divided it between themselves. What broke the pact was the German push into the Soviet Union that happened later.

Many players & Woods think Jane Harrow was the mole in Panama. It’s possible that Jackson Caine might’ve been the mole. Perhaps we might learn who the mole was in Warzone. Also, Perseus was the connection between Raul Menendez & Imran Zakhaev.
Gingy, you didn’t point out how Mason may have actually fulfilled his original programming, since the final scene of BO1 shows a pic of him near JFK right before the assassination.
I would like to believe that in Afghanistan, the Reznov we see is Adler, since we know around that time is when Adler. It would make sense, Adler and them fought together and would more than likely assist with Mason and Woods
2:29 The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was signed 23 August 1939. The Germans attacked the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, 95 weeks after.
