I build and sell gaming PCs locally, all at cost, recycling used PC parts from my component refurbishing and reselling business. Someone asked me to build them a trading PC and stressed the importance of being able to run at least 5 monitors at once. @Lurch-Bot Місяць тому +7

And. traditionally, SE when applied to cars is usually just half a step above the base model. 'Special' generally refers to the process of eliminating some of the features of higher spec model to get it within a certain price point. For example, I used to drive a '99 Pontiac Grand Am SE, which had the ABS and traction control of the higher end model but lacked any of the creature comforts from the higher end model, such as leather seating. There was also no 6Cyl option on the SE IIRC. I think the base model still didn't have power windows so you got those too. But you didn't get the fancy radio or 6 disc changer or sunroof, a spoiler or any other crap like that you'd get on the high end model. In fact, the SE still got a cassette player but that was better than the radio only on the base model.

The address listed, the Davie Fl one, is actually a UPS store in unit number 8958.
UPS stores, and other "mail box" stores, offer a mail forwarding / postal box service, by were anyone can subscribe too and get a virtual mailing address, which is the address of the mail box store with a suite number that is the subscriber's "box".
Very small businesses use this type of service, in order to have a public address to receive mail, as if it was their own brick-and-motor store location.
Scammers also use this type of service, as it hides the real location of the scammer, but allowing the scammer to received mail.
I'm not saying that this fishy company is a scam, but by them paying extra to hide their real location, doesn't say much for them to prove they are not a scammer.

While I never saw any advertised as a trading computer before, this absolutely was a thing quite a few years ago. Day traders would get custom PCs built with multiple monitor support before that was a common thing and with high end CPUs and lots of RAM to have many windows open watching a lot of data. I suspect that it was such a niche market that no one would design computers for this or advertise it, so it was likely all custom one offs, but it was definitely a very special setup at the time. Now all of what you would need is in virtually every PC and doesn't need anything custom.

Essentially. For a "trading PC" you could easily get away with a workstation, like a Dell OptiPlex. If you're doing a lot of trading then more monitors are ideal so you may need to add in a GPU for more ports. At the end of the day though, just get 1 gig fiber internet. Your internet connection is way more important than what system you have since, like Greg said, you could easily trade from any modern smartphone.

So... my place of work purchased a "Radical X14" for research purposes a few months ago
Here's what we got (I'm pulling this from memory since it was returned after we worked out it was basically the off the shelf part equivalent of an alienware with some quadro cards instead of an RTX):
13900KF with an 120mm asetek cooler
Asus TUF Z690 Motherboard DDR4 with bog standard JEDEC 3200.
    2xQuadro P620 GPUs (at a time when newer/better T400/T600 were widely available)
Crucial P3 for storage (these drives suck)
    Lame Antec case
    Bios set for PL1=125W, PL2=253W
The biggest foux pas of the build itself is the "Water Cooling" that they advertise because a 120mm asetek is significantly worse than just using a dual tower 120mm cooler.
From the testing that was done the single core was with 5% of a DDR5 system with a PA120 and set for PL1=PL2=253W but the multi core was trash due to the aforementioned asetek cooler and lame power limit settings used to accommodate it.
It probably would work well enough and there wasn't any red flags quality wise aside from the case but is a total ripoff considering the performance/price due to the terrible cooling and power limits set and use of jedec DDR4.

If he were to price these machines closer to their worth, and disclose more information across the board, and not come at me like every single scam website I've seen before, I think it would be an interesting concept because he is offering the stands that support multiple monitors and the monitors with it so you don't need to go elsewhere to find it, if that's what you wanted, a machine with 8 monitors filled to the brim with charts. I'd never buy one because it doesn't fit my use case, but I could see the potential in a very niche market.

haha that's fun, sometimes i wonder if such people even find one person who buys their stuff.
Quick notes to the Professional Trade-Room Computers i saw at a Bank. Bog-Standard Business Workstations bought from the catalogue. What was special were the
methods in place to ensure and keep stabilitgy of the systems. Room was mirrored, second one on different Infrastructure and connectivity. One Room would get Updates and Stuff, and get tested, while the other one remained in the known stable state, until they were sure no Problems would arise with stabiliy. So Stability, Stability, Reliabilty, and than speed.
So if I'd ever need a Trading-Machine i'd go with some reputable company and go with one of the mass-market machines for businesses with a proper Support-Package, instead of something clobbered together where you left alone when things starts acting up.

Fair enough, he funnels people to buy significantly overpriced products. His phone service likely goes to someone that’s paid as a virtual assistant and not a call center we see in today’s customer service arena.
He’s a cheesy business man and everything about that business makes me think he wasn’t successful as a trader if this is the amount of work he puts into this.
Again, I agree it’s questionable practices, but this type of model is seen all over outside of brick and mortar stores like Best Buy.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone even if they’re a day trader to his landing page(s).
