  • How to carry out a brake fluid service on just about any car.
    Easy DIY brake fluid replacement with no need for special tools or diagnostic equipment.
    Process carried out shown on CityBug/Citroen C1/Aygo/Peugeot 107, but this technique will work on most, if not all cars and motorcycles.
    This method can also be used to bleed brakes as required.

    I think you did a better job there than a lot of UA-cam mechanics that take themselves a bit too seriously. Got to say I had not seen that done with a syringe before but it really works well. Fare play to you, done a great job in your usual humorous an entertaining way.

    Great timing..... after thinking i was getting close to my MOT test. When rehanging the exhaust i noticed one of the rear line was leaking. Was going to chance it but now i need to do it. Today i ripped out every brake line. Took me 4 hours to get them out. Didnt want to distort the lines as i wanted to copy the shape. But now ive just decided im not doing that and just going to go for it. I also bought 50 feet of 6mm shink sleeve that I'll cover the pipes with before install.i need flexi pipes on the front as couldnt get the pipes off even with heat a patience. They looked shit anyway. Ive got to say that the ABS unit is in a shite location. Wish me luck as im a long way off the bleeding process.
    Thanks again for the timely bleeding video.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Рік тому

      Good luck mate. I use bleeding process all the time and it works well. It’s my adaptation of the old milk bottle method, but better cos the fluid goes upwards so the air escapes even if there is no fluid coming out yet. If it’s new lines you’ll need to pump the pedal slowly enough for the air to go upwards before letting it back up so it can’t suck it back in. Once it’s coming out better you can go a bit quicker. Worst case you may need to crack off the pipes going into the abs pump and bleed it upto that point first but you should be ok tbh

      Thanks for the advice. Only managed to get two lines in today from master cylinder to ABS module. It was pissing with rain 🌧 most of the day. Yeah I did watch your video on cutting out the knackered section. Every corner I went to looked corroded last thing I wanted was to put it in for a MOT and they whinged about brake lines.
      I've followed a lot of your videos in getting this car ready for the road again. Sealing the back end, led crystal look. I bought the blacked out tail lights from a C1 and put on 107 just matches the car far better.
      And by the way that flaring tool is magic. Bought one for doing the brake lines and the flares have come out beautiful.

    Brilliant again..funny snd and informative...i changed coolant last week with your help...ive never done thst before! This is nxt ! Ps do you need a syringe type baster for when you pump the pedal or will any container do?

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks mate, and a syringe is easiest but you can do it with a bottle. The main thing is that you need to have the pipe full of fluid and pumping up hill, if that not doing it with a syringe like I did in the video, you need to prime the tube by opening it whilst someone pushes the pedal, and closing it before the lift off a couple of times and keep the end of the pipe in some fluid at the bottom of the bottle so it doesn’t run out and fill the pipe with air. That way the bubbles travel away from the nipple and it avoids them being sucked back in when you release the pedal. Another important thing is it make sure to tube is flexible and tight on the nipple so it seals as they can suck air in from there too if not.

      Sometimes there is an extra one for a hydraulic clutch, but usually it’s because of dual circuit braking systems. Most cars have one circuit controlling the front left and rear right, and the other controlling the front right rear left. Lorries air over hydraulic systems used to often use a dual L circuit setup. Both front brakes had 2 cylinders with separate feeds. Each circuit did both front brakes and one rear brake.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos

      Sometimes you can, but more often not the syringe just pulls air through the threads of the nipple. Maybe put some grease on the threads to help seal them and it will probably work better
