Hey. Fresh face here. I've waddled over from Stu's Mini-realms Channel. Gonna stick around a while, looks a great little channel. Some great painting on those epics there!
Your painting and basing brings these to life - once they’re done they look the part of a ranked army of individuals and the infantry’s unique sculpting & assembly tricks are hidden. Eagerly awaiting getting my hands on a sprue with the next WI.
Thanks 👍 I really enjoyed going through these. I've always found the Punic Wars particularly interesting and the Polybian legions are my favourite part
@@7thson726 Yeah, I got that. But that was what made the review so useful. I'm not going to go for these, I did the Punic Wars in 1/72 many many years ago, and I'm still staring at the Epic P&S stuff, I built a landscape for them but I'm having problems finishing them (so many other things come up to stop me). Anyway I look forwards to watching more of your videos.
Really informative vid - thanks! I've seen photos of the sprues, but I really enjoy how you discuss the sprue and then show the finished, painted units. It's also great that you choose to paint at a quick but colorful tabletop level, eschewing zillions of washes, highlights, etc. My philosophy for Epic scale is "make 'em look good, but don't go nuts", and I'm glad to see that these ancients look absolutely fantastic without going nuts. I'm chomping at the bit to get my pre-order Hannibal box in :D Thanks again, and great job.
The different painting styles between you two adds some "time on campaign" and some local/regional flavor between groups. Maybe some had been on a previous campaign and had either more worn gear or more elaborate gear from winning battles! Or maybe some were from different areas. Very cool.
Thanks very much, that was super helpful. I am really torn between these and 28mm! I also thought the gap between each base didn’t look as bad as it does on some other Epic, because the shields add a little more frontage to each individual base. I am cheered to hear how quickly these paint up. Thanks again.
Excellent stuff! A great description of the figures and a beautifully informed description of the various troops. Now you got me wanting to play Punes again!
@@7thson726 you certainly know your stuff! I was dead mad on the Punic Wars back in the day, I had 15mm and 20 mm armies. Haven't played it in a long time though. What do you think of the Epic Jumbo's? Do you think Carthage used towers?
Long time watcher! Total side question, but starting a First Crusade/ Normab force and was curious of what size the bases were that you used! Thanks as always and keep up the good work!
Could you do another army showcase for the wars of the roses since it’s been a while since you did the last one and have finally got Warwick painted up?
Having shield transfers like Little Big Man (LBM) ones for these figures would entice many more players to get into this as they would look even more realistic
Do you think so? I don't think every ancient soldier was a Michelangelo with a stunningly painted shield. Plus that is a lot of decals to apply. The boxes are coming with decals though i believe.
I do agree that it would help get people in. There are decals that come with them (I just didn't receive any 😅 so couldn't show them) I think at this scale the shield designs can be forgiving if you have a go yourself 👍
Glad you like them. I was working on the Carthaginians (the ones on the turntable) a couple of hours in the evening over about 4 days. I think I could do them quicker but I was sorting out colour schemes

Fantastic update mate, they’re looking great.
Really appreciate it mate, thanks 👍
I will get these for my 12th birthday
Excellent 👍
"knock knock", "who's there?" The purple police😂🤣
😁
Very good. It is refreshing to watch a breakdown like this by someone who actually knows what he is talking abour!

Lovely work, Martin. The overall effect of the painted units together looks fantastic 👍
Cheers buddy, I really like the overall look once they are on the table 👍

Thanks very much. We were pretty pleased when they were all based up with the overall result 😁
Looking good Martin! Very excited to see them all on the battlefield, Many Thanks 👍
Glad you like them, I'm looking forward to having a game 👍
Told myself I wasn’t interested in 15mm. I may have to reconsider
😅 yeah, I know that feeling
Great job Martin. You make painting look easy. 👍. All your stuff will look stellar on the table top. Can't wait for battle reports.
Really appreciate it, thank you 👍
Wonderful job! Excited to get mine in the mail.
You won't be disappointed 😁

Thanks mate, that's actually something I was talking about as well, fortunately it's not as obvious when your 3ft away on a table 👍
Excellent video. Great guide to the figures and very helpful painting info. Thank you.
You're welcome, thanks for watching

Thanks buddy, glad you enjoyed it, I wanted to give some context to each of the units 😁👍

Looking really good! Thanks for the insight
Glad it was helpful 👍
Nicely done Martin. I agree the African infantry are very easy to do I am working on some myself.the cavalry look ace too
Cheers buddy, it's encouraging that you can army plan fairly accurately time wise with these 👍
Those look great, an enjoyable watch, thank you.
Thanks very much 😁
I've gone the other end of the scale 54mm Truly Epic. I thought I'd finished until you mentioned Gauls.
I have started to enjoy 54mm stuff for sure 👍
Hi Martin, fantastic work, as always! I especially like how your Scutarii turned out.
Thanks very much. I was really pleased with them but it was touch and go as I went haha
Fantastic job looking great 🤠🤠
Thanks 👍

Thanks very much, so I use bases from Big Red Bat and the ones I use for infantry are the FK& P13B and for cavalry FK&P6 👍
Interesting format, painting, as always, superior to all sorts, my friend🙂
Thanks mate 👍
Very impressive work on these splendid figures, I do like the 'en masse' effect on the infantry...👍👍
Thanks very much 😁
Excellent work very impressive
Thanks 👍
Could you do another army showcase for the wars of the roses since it’s been a while since you did the last one and have finally got Warwick painted up?
I'm sure I could 😉👍
They look superb martin a great variety of colours
Thanks mate, I wanted them to stand out 👍
Nice. Let the games begin.
Absolutely
They look cracking mate!
Thanks bud 😁

Hi mate what did you use for basing material? Cheers
I use AK diorama pastes and a mix of tufts and scatter 👍
Good video Martin. I genuinely have no idea how you are able to paint these so quickly to such a high standard 🫡
Really pleased you like them mate, I just tend to get into a rhythm haha 😁
I thought this was a battle report for a second
Hopefully soon 😁
@@7thson726 at that rate of painting, I’m sure!
Very cool mate.
Thanks Paul 😁
impressive work, as always.
approximately how long have you been working on these Carthaginian units in total?
Glad you like them. I was working on the Carthaginians (the ones on the turntable) a couple of hours in the evening over about 4 days. I think I could do them quicker but I was sorting out colour schemes
Is this 10mm scale? Love the scuplts
So, it's closer to 15mm. I think it's actually marketed as 13.5mm 👍
Great video martin😊
Thanks mate 👍
Robin rocks
Occasionally 😉😁
