Born and raised in SD. Great video. I agree 110% percent about how expensive it is. I will admit, you get what you pay for. Weather is amazing, job opportunity is great, there is also so much diversity on culture and by wealth. Everyone has a place of welcome here. I did the exact opposite I moved from San Diego to Georgia. Lived 35 years in San Diego. I miss it but it was getting way too expensive. Great video...
Recently moved out of SD and just to add: It's more diverse the farther south you go. Downtown is pretty mixed, and everything south is more black and Latino. "East county" is all white, and less educated the farther you go. "North county" is white and Asian and where all the money is. On the coast is where you have all the frat bros, hippies, yuppies, tourism and commerce. People are friendly and they drive well, but there is a lot of narcissism and vanity that makes it feel like there isn't a sense of community there. As you said downtown is the only place to really hang out, as the rest of the metro is sprawling suburbia. Lots of people love it, but it's definitely not for everyone.
Happy New Year everyone and I want to say this I really appreciate the real people that comment on my post I see so many times people represented by a color or letter or just an abstract picture but to say that I put myself out there and I real people can see me and reply means the world that's sometimes hear about internet rolls and I've had to block a few but what I spoke on the here was genuine and I really enjoy the city
I’m moving there in the next few months. I know you are 100% right about having to know somebody in San Diego to make moves because I’ve tried to apply to Jobs there while I’m still out of state and heard nothing but crickets back. Same with my friend. We were in the same boat and then suddenly one of the girls she was in a sorority with who lives in San Diego hit her up to come interview at the law firm she works at there. Suddenly she had a job that fast. If you know somebody out there you’ll be fine. If not you better have your money together.
Lived in Chula Vista for 7 years and I'm from Kansas City...I miss it so much...the laid back atmosphere and beautiful weather make up for the cost of living in my opinion.
Man, I really appreciate you for posting this video. I, too, am looking at relocating from ATL to SD. I've been here my entire life and I am ready for a change. I appreciate a brother's take on what it's like there versus here. Blessings to you and your wife!
I live in GA and I visited San Diego in September and feel in love. You won't believe how good the food is. Perfect weather, beautiful women, etc. But a 3 bedroom house is a million dollars. I'm not talking about a mansion just a regular house. It's my Powerball destination. Other than that I'm good.
I love San Diego! Beautiful city. I go every single year. I want to move and settle down there. It’s expensive but so is LA and NYC. I’m from NYC, and the cost of living is ridiculous. If I’m gonna pay an arm and a leg to live, I want some perks like: beautiful scenery, nature, amazing weather, beautiful beaches, nice people, good food, etc. All NYC has is good food.
I BELIEVE THAT MOST OF CALIFORNIA IS A GARBAGE CAN FOR OBVIOUS REASONS BUT NYC????? DONT GET ME STARTED, I AGREE THAT IF YOUR GOING TO PAY AN ARM AND A LEG TO LIVE SOMEWHERE THAT THERE BETTER BE SOME GOOD PERKS ABOUT IT AND NYC DOES NOT HAVE MANY, I WOULD RATHER LIVE IN MY CAR IN SAN DIEGO THAN A DECENT APARTMENT IN NYC WORKING SUPER HARD TO MAKE ENDS MEET
Mar Par I agree. The twang is cool. I have lived in San Diego, Santa Ana, the Bay Area and Portland, but I went to an HBC in Huntsville, Al. I miss hearing that twang. There aren't any West Indians either here in Portland, where I currently live
SD is clean ! SF and OAKLAND Bay Area is hella dirty . i was just down there visiting family . i love the filipino area in national city all the restraunts , and original foods from the motherland .only problem is the jobs pay shitty .out here we getting 56.00 hr for journyman union worker . out there they use mexicans so the labor for constructions dont pay shit down there
I’m not going to lie .. I’m running from the stupid frizzing weather of the east! I’m not looking to live in downtown SD at all. I’m a school social worker, bilingual and in my 40s . I’m not kidding you, if I get a job at least an hour from Central SD I’ll move tomorrow ! I’m saving and saving and would not stop until I leave NYC. As far as cost of life I think is most difficult for people that move to SD from smalls towns or cities.
Im in Chgo and soo ready to leave as well. Chgo is also becoming unreasonably expensive yet the corruption is at an all time high. I'm Latina and like the laid back nature of CA..I just fear that its priced out of my price range! But other than that, I just want to live in a place where the sun always comes out!
Cost of living is more here but the pay is a lot more. Make sure you have a good job lined up before moving out here or it will be rough. As far as the traffic goes, I feel like people are bigger jerks now on the road but there's a lot more people moving here from other states too. We are much more relaxed here probably because there's a ton to do an the weather is great!
christine Benson Drivers are not as crazy as they are Houston. Thats why I have to pay these high ass auto insurance rates down here. 🤦🏾♀️ Im over it.
I moved to San Diego years ago and only left because of Job and financial situation at the time. Now I live in Ventura, which is a kind of a Sand Diego light. Still may move back there someday.
I've been thinking of relocating here for the last 3 years ... my son likes Florida but I don't 😳... Thank goodness for a positive and honest conversation/ video. May God bless you and your beautiful family
Welcome to San Diego It is so expensive ... but it's Beautiful and there are at lot of things to do that don't cost alot. Our Harbors are Beautiful to do things. Yes we do love Southerners ... we need you to to ground us ! 💞💞🙏🙏
Chrissy Lovinmylife hey can we get in touch . Planning on moving there too with my small family. Rent is so crazy , where would you suggest we move to? Decent rent , low crimes , family oriented. I’m coming from ATL as well thanks I’m advance
Hope you’re enjoying living in San Diego. I was born and raised there, rancho penasquitos to be exact. The quality of people there are amazing and friendly.. now I live in Texas. I’ve been here for 4 years and I hate it with a passion. People here are rude but the cost of living is so cheap.. I’m gonna be here for another 4 years and paper stack so I can move back. Love this video bro! Blessings to you!
Marianne Lee yes!! I lived in Houston Texas for 13yrs and I was over it from day one. Ppl there are liars and sneaky! Glad I’m gone..... never looked back!
back in the 80's 90's. Tijuana ,was where all the fun was at , now 2017 , most hit the gaslamp downtown area clubs , party's are now mostly done at home backyards , but san Diego is beautiful , but now those who rent are hurting ,unless you own or have a good income ,good video brother
I lived in North Park in San Diego for 13 years while in the U S Navy and loved it. Back then a 1 bedroom apartment rented for a $125.00 per month that was in the 1970s
We’re moving to SD in June 😍😍 husband in the navy transferring so were very lucky on that part. I’m sooo excited! I’m from FL and it reminded me a lot of home.
THANK YOU so much for this video! I'm from Alabama originally but living in Houston. I'm SO happy to see someone from the deep south like myself do a video like this! I'm going next week to San Diego for about 13 weeks for work and this video hit the spot! I worry about my accent too sometimes and I'm happy to hear that they like our southern accent.
I just recently moved back to San Diego I love San Diego.❤ I think most of the people that live in San Diego have one thing in common they all love the ocean🌊 It doesn't matter if you're swimming, surfing, selling or fishing the majority of people that live in San Diego go to the beach on a regular basis. That's why everyone's so friendly nice & happy. And that's exactly why I moved back to SD because I love the water I love to be at the beach in the ocean🌊 I think everyone is different depending on personal preference because if I had a choice to go to a party or the beach I would choose the beach any day but that's just my preference.
@Juanita Boyer, Hi. I'm curious: which industries make the most money in SD? I'm asking because everyone says it's so expensive. I would love to move there, but I'm still somewhat conflicted due to the cost of living.
The majority of people in San Diego do not go the beach on a regular basis. That’s just the coastal communities of San Diego that go to beach on regular basis. Mars is the best planet.
@@MsChunkums Hi, I'm actually still on the east coast (not happy about that); haven't made a decision, and still researching the job market; I would like to make a decision by early 2021 because I'm so tired of NY (too fast-paced, overcrowded areas, filthy streets).
@@jordanjohnson9866 Exactly. Lived in SD my whole life. There have been a year or two at a time where I didn't go to the ocean. You take it for granted after a while. The thought of the inconvenience of snow or rain has stopped me from living elsewhere... but I'm starting to think that I could use a change.
I live on the island of Kauai. I am moving to SD next month. I just spent a few days in SD looking for housing for me my two daughters and my wife. It’s all relative. During my three days in SD I felt like I was living in a clearance sell. Everything is so much cheaper than kauai, well other than housing. Housing is comparable to Hawaii but you get a much nicer place for the money in SD. The food in SD is 50-75% cheaper than kauai.... If you want something bad enough you make it happen. I see a lot of negative comments about how expensive it is, that’s just a poverty or lack mindset. I couldn’t afford kauai by any means when I moved here 3 years ago and I struggled for the first 2and 1/2, but I stayed and pushed through and now I’ve hustled my way to easy living in paradise, so that means, on to the next challenge. Comfort is the enemy of growth and greatness, it’s a sign that it’s time to push yourself. I cannot wait to get to San Diego and dominate that place too! Anything is possible for those of us that have the wear with all to make it happen. Thanks for the video my man, hopefully I run into you when I get there .... peace and love bruh.....
Welcome to San Diego my brother. All my peeps are from Macon , Atlanta ; but my dad left Georgia established several auto shops over the years. We have lived here all our lives and yes it's high cost of living here but we are spoiled by the weather and the number of places you can be by driving 30 minutes in any direction (during non-rush hours) Bless you and your family. Big T
San diego is way different from the Atl, I lived up by Mira Mesa and had to come back east due to family reasons and looking to move back there soon. Most ppl were friendly there and the traffic wasn't that bad coming from the east coast. Had my fun in Mexico too, hop and a skip.
I love your video! I'm a San Diego native and honestly your description is on point. It's a come as you are city, flip flops and shorts are always appropriate attire. We maintain that small beach town attitude. We don't want to be like LA or San Francisco. But the cost of living is skyrocketing. I'm moving to Thibodaux, LA.
Ever since my GF and I watched this video years ago, whenever I found myself dragging in the morning she told me "git it, git it!" She said that every day (while we were still together 😭). Today this video just came up again for some reason.
Been here in SD for 15 years. It’s by far the most beautiful city and best weather. But it’s expensive. I make 120K and have a company car and I just don’t feel secure here. A 1 bedroom apartment is 1500 a month minimum. Foods more, gas is more, waters more, taxes are higher. If you got the money, no better place. If you want to buy a house and have security...not the best option. I’m finally leaving, moving to Utah. Many of the companies in Cali are leaving as well because it’s too expensive to operate. In my opinion the state is in for major issues.
I’m from the DC area where 1,500 is the standard. If anything San Diego looks less expensive, and that’s surprising me. There’s gotta be something else I’m not seeing. Is the home price way inflated?
I'm interested in movie to San Deigo. I have since I was a kid, I now visit once a year and I love it more than anything. It is expensive but honestly I am willing to accept it for a few years until I can make more money. Thank you for the video!
You will have to move to the Inland Empire.. think Temecula if you are a normal Joe. Houses are high even there, but nothing like San Diego. You won't come here and get ahead, forget it. You better have money and be prepared to spend it. There is a lot to do and the weather is great, but the high costs make so many people leave.
i just bought a 3400 sqft house in Temecula lol. waaaay cheaper than Diego. The only thing that sucks is the commute i make everyday to work since my job is in San diego. San Diego houses are just too much for so little.
marcus mckie So many commuters in Temecula going to Diego. I still shake my head at people dropping $500k on a run down tiny house there. I just don’t get it. We haven’t had a recession in what a decade? I think a lot of those people who bought those shacks at the top, may end up losing big dollars in the next downturn. It is really scary to think about.
Sadly the drive sucks from Temecula to SD.. Be aware their are NO jobs in Temecula unless you want to work a retail job. So you must commute North or south to SD. Did it for 3 yrs..Yes, the houses were bigger BUT the cost the same you'll spend 2 hrs a day 5x a week driving and sitting in traffic on return trip home north thats 10 hrs a week in traffic and away from your kids/ family (your mental health will suffer) and then the wear and tear on car and gas tank a week (oil change 1x per month, tires 1x a year) so after all is said and done, moving to Temecula area sucked....by the time you do all this, its easier to stay in SD and cheaper!! YMMV
I appreciate this video so much! Im from Atlanta originally, been living in Cleveland for the past 4 years. Im planning on moving to SD in the next 3 years. Thanks for the tips!
I left in 2007. I was making close to 3000 k a month after tax, but was getting tired of wasting money in San Diego. The place is way too over taxed, rent is out of control. I would rather make less and enjoy more of what I have than have very little leftover to do anything with.
Moving from ATL(Vinings) to Oceanside. Originally lived in Lindbergh--- I can't wait to leave ATL. I lived in Denver for 10 years and miss the west so bad.
I’ve lived in San Diego for 4 years in the service. I’m from southeast PA near West Chester and it’s ungodly expensive here as well. At least in SD you have nice weather all year.

I'n born and raised in California. I should've paid more attention to Spanish class in 7th-8th grades. I discovered I had learned enough to get in trouble in a Tijuana bar. My main fast food is Mexican and I have the sweetest lady a few doors down and we speak Spanish in passing. I'm living west of the freeway east of the railroad tracks, but only about 1,500 feet from one of the top 5 beaches in the US. Gas prices today are about $3.43 for Regular. California has 2 types of gas, the Summer blend being more expensive. Freeway traffic depends on time of day and direction of flow. I like to get off the freeway and drive the coast when I'm not in any hurry. San Diego County is in a Mediterranean climate and has beaches, inland valleys, foothills, pine tree topped mountains and deserts. On the same day you can swim, surf, dive in the ocean, go hiking or snow skiing in the mountains or play in the desert sands. My best days for grocery shopping are Saturday or Sunday before 10 a.m. or Wednesday or Thursdays.
I graduated High School in SD. About the schools it does kinda look like a prison ahaha but I found the students in California to be way more mature than the other places Ive lived. I was a military brat so we moved around a lot. Also its a "Military City". a large chunk of the economy and population is because of the military presence and it really defines a lot of what the city is about. its just like LA because people flock to this city from everywhere in the world except the people going to SD are honest workers and the ones moving to LA... well you know why people move to LA. SD is like LA's chiller little brother.
Hey Flip, great video. I'm a Californian *not* from anywhere near SD but been living in ATL for 4 years considering moving back and want to try SD. You got that right about having your money right! no joke not sure I'll ever be ready to pay twice as much for less space and the same gas as you say. God bless I hope things are going well for you in SD. I bet I will miss that 30-40 mile radius to party in metro ATL as you mentioned. Ha! 1Luv from reynoldstown
Dude I completely understand you. I moved from Georgia to San Diego as well back in 2015 and it is so much different and expensive than it was back in Douglasville
Depends where you live in SD I've live all across the country and the SD area and so far my fave city in US is SD.you can definitely live here easier if you are a modest person if you want to attend yoga class and kids to private school or own a house please stay where you are. but if you like nature and are laid back individual who like safety and free activities like beaches parks and mountains to hike SD is for u.
Thanks my brother for giving your honest opinion about SD coming from a southerner point of view. My brother is there today exploring the area from Va. He texted me some great pictures that I Never EVER known about those neck of the woods. He's vacationing at LA. My brother is scoping out our next vacation spot for the future. I you see a brother that looks like you with glasses and a hat, that might be him... BEST Regards and blessings to you and your family, bro.
Had a week vacay stayed in a hotel in chula vista. Im from Louisville KY and the folks there are super friendly even strangers. And the weather so good it made you wanna obey the laws and follow the speed limits. Not to mention the endless activities the city offers Definitely moving here once i graduate
Just got back from SD - Stayed in Boulevard Park area - real cool. Ate @ the Fish market right off Logan & Euclid, but that's hood stuff. SD got a lot of constructive activities too. Nice place to hustle, but cost of living is high.
soon as i saw that street Logan in San Diego you brought back memories, but i was born there in 1960 until 1972, then moved to the bay area, I lived between Logan and national and SW 40th St. I'm black and we were some tough kids growing up, i don't see that anymore with kids.
Ocean view born and raised,y'all gotta check out waffle burger in Lincoln, or Canada steakburger in city heights, or miss pee wee's in Logan, all the down home style restaurants are closing, you got Bonnie jeans in Lincoln too,but I don't think they are not as good as when She ran the place, I think her grand babies run the place now
If you want to enjoy living anywhere in Cali nowadays, simply make sure you SAVE SAVE SAVE. Have good credit and steady income, your set. I live in the Bay but lived in San Diego for 9 years. I loved it but my heart was set in the Bay. There's a lot of good places to raise a family in San Diego and you're only an hour an a half to 2 hours away from L.A. Beaches galore, the best Mexican food, and almost year-long sunshine.
I assure you, no one is laughing at you behind your back. I personally love a southern accent! Although people will laugh at you if what you say is unintelligent or wacky. Everyone likes people that are humble, respectful and kind. It goes a long way. So what were you saying, cleared for a living?
A few years later - (I'm Lydia's hubby )- Let me know if you would like to learn how to surf. That will take your mind off of the costs (they are high ) , in fact , it will take your mind off of everything except catching that next wave - honest , I surfed for 50+ years before my body gave out.
@@jenniferwilliams8546 my friends and I are coming to San Diego in 2 weeks from Aug 16th to 19th. Where else to party and enjoy other than gaslamp? U have any specific spots we should check out?
I really enjoyed your video. Glad I found you in the thumbnails . My son was thinking of going to school out there; and I feel like this video is helpful .
Been here all my life and yes the cost of living continues to rise. Some people willing live here knowing they could do better and are just attached to the Amenities. Others finally reach a breaking point where they have to finally walk away or be homeless. Its really sad I have family members that worked all there lives and weren't able to retire here and had to move to Arizona. If you have deep roots here and a sizable family then you may be able just to survive. Even people with high incomes don't want to pay for this life here.
It’s so hot in Arizona though. I wish we had stayed in Encinitas. My parents bought a home in 1976 for $136,000 and now it’s worth $1.5 M ! Ugh, so beautiful and cool there. Great schools, restaurants, the beach, etc! We moved inland, but definitely not the same!
I love your accent too. There's so many southern dialects, yours is my favorite. I think they call it "southern aristocrat". I hear it in the sophisticated cities (especially Georgia) in the south. Drive a few miles out of Atlanta, and bam, I need an interpreter.
Thank you for this video...I live in Metro Atlanta and looking to move out to San Diego within a year. Glad to know people let you over on the highway, lol. Anyway, please keep posting and put up pics. Thank you
Good for you to move someplace different and a great place as well. I cannot afford to move to San Diego but I'm going to go there for at least 2 years just to enjoy the nice people/weather. After that prolly back to some boring cold place lol. Oh yeah, people love your accent because it sounds so different and friendly. You've already got friends there, congrats!
I’ve seen a few friends leave San Diego with their tale between their legs. Not for the faint of heart. Money talks. You can be fine as fuck, ain’t gonna help.
Haha I'm from the UK and I like the way you talk! You have a nice voice, maybe you should sing or something? Anyway, just doing a little research on San Diego so this video helped. Thanks man.
I just moved to San Diego 6months. It’s expensive, but it’s worth it! You definitely have to save up and have a decent job in place first hand before moving to Ca. Ppl are really sweet as well.
@@Ava2969ny hmmm 🤔.... the dating here seems to suck for singles. Ppl seem to not be as patient with Communication...everyone is in a dam hurry!! Lol..Also depending on what Age group you fall into. Meaning....21-35 there’s a lot of cool spots in old town, north park, and the gas lamp area. Now if your 40 plus look into La Jolla, Carlsbad, it’s a more grown and sexy type of vibe areas. It just depends on what your type of speed is.
@@chrissylovinmylife - I've heard some good things about Carlsbad. Do you think a person can live well there on 75K? I'm asking because I don't really want to relocate and live with roommates.
If san diego was the cost of ATL then it would be over populated. Supply and demand. Everyone wants Cali (highest pppulated state 3-5x more than other state) at almost 40mill, and san diego is #2 highest polulated city in cali. Just have to grind harder
I moved from northern VA to SD and I agree that it helps ALOT if you have someone out in SD who is willing to let you live with them for a few months until you get on your feet. Palm trees, beautiful beaches, sunshine, good weed, pretty women comes no affordable housing options, high credit score standards, a very competitive job market, high gas prices, and depending on where you live, homeless people issues. If you're a 2nd ammendment enthusiast, forget about it. Make sure your money is up or you're planning on living with three other people who hold jobs and can contribute when you move here.
Before I left san diego in 2016 gas was *$4.50 a gallon!!* SD was just becoming too expensive, but you have the right mentality and you'll fit right in. Check out Normal Heights, University Heights and South Park. Nice areas walk around and have lunch with the family.
It takes time to know and get around town guy. When you have a day off maybe you and wife take a bus or tour around town see where places are. Did y'all moved there for business reasons. I know are southern talk tends to give way when going to different parts of the country. I'm from Maryland we talk the same here. Going to PA different accent altogether. I just wanna wish y'all luck love and may God bless you. Adrian
The San Diego urban coastline runs from Mission Beach(near Sea World) all the way up to Carlsbad which is about 30 miles of BEAUTIFUL Coastline. There is also alot of social/party type atmosphere in La Jolla, Del Mar, Solona Beach and Cardiff bt the Sea which are all coastal beach cities.
patr70 I went to a lot of great shows in Solana Beach. I saw everyone from the Roots, to Sizzla, Gang Starr, Talib Kweli, etc.... The Bellie Up was the place. It probably still is.
I lived there for awhile too. Left to go join family back east. For some strange reason I noticed that most southern folks living in Cali didn't like it. I think that it was too much of a change. East coast folks like myself are very adaptable. I don't think that you need to know Spanish at all. I never spoke it when I lived out there. Also like you said, the activities are different in southern california. I had to get used to that but I did. I loved hanging on the beach and just hanging out outside restaurants and drinking establishments. Nightclubbing is not the thing to do out there. Private parties are much better if you can get invited to them. Many are held at million dollar mansions. Also they push a healthy lifestyle doing things like swimming, hiking, biking, jogging and so on. Year round golf is great out there. You also mentioned the diversity which is true. I had friends of all nationalities which was real cool. Salaries are higher but so it the cost of living particularly housing. It also can get hot out there weather wise. But all i all if it wasn't for family located elsewhere, I would prob still be living there now.
I’m from Louisiana, lived in Texas, lived in boring Savannah, Ga as well. Got tired of the slow mentality in the south. Grew apart and headed west....California is a huge transition indeed. But it’s worth it. Depending on your career choice as well.
I grew up in San Diego in the 70s and 80s as a kid from elementary thru high school. I dont know how my parents did it....they bought a house, but maybe the cost of living was just cheaper back then...I moved to florida, and yes, its way cheaper to own a home there today.

Perfectly said.
There isn’t a lot of narcissism there but they have a lot of self centered people there. I have the best UA-cam channel.

Mike Harris yes it's not cheap!! I'm a Cali girl and I'm used to the cost of living but if your from the south it will be hard to grasp
Mike Harris need a roommate?
Mike Harris word
I live in GA and I visited San Diego in September and feel in love. You won't believe how good the food is. Perfect weather, beautiful women, etc. But a 3 bedroom house is a million dollars. I'm not talking about a mansion just a regular house.
It's my Powerball destination. Other than that I'm good.
Oh yeah...they got more bums than you can imagine.
Yes..Those of use who bought in the 60's, 70's. 80's have our home paid off so we're doing OK... Politicians created the problem.
Sufflok county is pretty now
@@theanswerisinthebackofyourhead haha!! I’d rather live in my car in San Diego too lol

I agree.
🤦🏾♀️ Im over it.
christine Benson hi.. what constitute a good pay range in San Diego
I moved to San Diego years ago and only left because of Job and financial situation at the time. Now I live in Ventura, which is a kind of a Sand Diego light. Still may move back there someday.
try living in bay area ...san diego is cheap as fuck compared to the bay

I've been thinking of relocating here for the last 3 years ... my son likes Florida but I don't 😳... Thank goodness for a positive and honest conversation/ video. May God bless you and your beautiful family
I m a native of San Diego and I can say we are not laughing at the accent. It is cool to hear.
- if you have A LOT money, think of moving to SD!
- if you just have MODERATE sum of money, don't think about it!
The US is so different regionally. If you moved from ATL from Boston you'd also see a lot of differences
You’re kidding 😂😂😂😂😂
Welcome to San Diego

Moved to San Diego 30 years ago from Philly. Fell in love with the city, and loved every minute of living here!
Blessings to you!

back in the 80's 90's.

As a San Diegan, you hit the nail on the head AND made me laugh. You rock, man
We’re moving to SD in June 😍😍 husband in the navy transferring so were very lucky on that part. I’m sooo excited! I’m from FL and it reminded me a lot of home.
Where are you coming from?

Hi Lindsay.... Just wondering how it worked out. We're also in Florida thinking of relocating. Is it so much more terribly expensive?
THANK YOU so much for this video! I'm from Alabama originally but living in Houston. I'm SO happy to see someone from the deep south like myself do a video like this! I'm going next week to San Diego for about 13 weeks for work and this video hit the spot! I worry about my accent too sometimes and I'm happy to hear that they like our southern accent.

Watched this when deciding what city to move to, rewatching after 4 months of living here. Thanks for the heads up on things
@@Ava2969ny You and I both...what did you decide
@@MsChunkums Hi, I'm actually still on the east coast (not happy about that); haven't made a decision, and still researching the job market; I would like to make a decision by early 2021 because I'm so tired of NY (too fast-paced, overcrowded areas, filthy streets).
@@jordanjohnson9866 Exactly. Lived in SD my whole life. There have been a year or two at a time where I didn't go to the ocean. You take it for granted after a while. The thought of the inconvenience of snow or rain has stopped me from living elsewhere... but I'm starting to think that I could use a change.
Gas is expensive in California because it's taxed high for various reasons. A new tax yesterday, in fact.
And an additional tax last Monday. We have idiots in charge of the budget in California.
I was stationed there 2x while in the Navy. I loved the place but always left broke..
Jackson Gage your words of wisdom truly inspire me! Thank you ☺️
thank you for this
Welcome to San Diego my brother.

San diego is way different from the Atl, I lived up by Mira Mesa and had to come back east due to family reasons and looking to move back there soon. Most ppl were friendly there and the traffic wasn't that bad coming from the east coast. Had my fun in Mexico too, hop and a skip.
Thank you for making this video, my family and I are moving to San Diego this summer from Georgia.
That southern twang! Nobody laughing at you man! We love the diversity!
Can you elaborate on why buying a house there is not the best option?
Lol u lying or living above your means 120k lol
@@rikothep7900 💯
I’m from the DC area where 1,500 is the standard. If anything San Diego looks less expensive, and that’s surprising me. There’s gotta be something else I’m not seeing. Is the home price way inflated?
I'm interested in movie to San Deigo. I have since I was a kid, I now visit once a year and I love it more than anything. It is expensive but honestly I am willing to accept it for a few years until I can make more money. Thank you for the video!
I like the way you talk. Welcome to San Diego.
I from sandiego move like 11 years ago to riverside now to lake Elsinore. I miss sandiego but I got used to living out here and made my life out here
Sadly the drive sucks from Temecula to SD..
Sondema Tarr need a roomie? So serious

I left in 2007. I was making close to 3000 k a month after tax, but was getting tired of wasting money in San Diego. The place is way too over taxed, rent is out of control. I would rather make less and enjoy more of what I have than have very little leftover to do anything with.

If you want to enjoy living anywhere in Cali nowadays, simply make sure you SAVE SAVE SAVE. Have good credit and steady income, your set. I live in the Bay but lived in San Diego for 9 years.

Hello!! Greetings from Arkansas! Mom lives in San Diego! Awesome schools over there! Hoping to be smart enough to transfer there some day
I love your accent too. There's so many southern dialects, yours is my favorite. I think they call it "southern aristocrat". I hear it in the sophisticated cities (especially Georgia) in the south. Drive a few miles out of Atlanta, and bam, I need an interpreter.
Southern accents are charming and you seem affable. Good combination.
SD is expensive but too much expensive as SF. Damn I pray for the homeless crisis everywhere🙏😭 I hope people can fix it in the future.

If san diego was the cost of ATL then it would be over populated. Supply and demand. Everyone wants Cali (highest pppulated state 3-5x more than other state) at almost 40mill, and san diego is #2 highest polulated city in cali. Just have to grind harder
You are so right I applaud your comment
You ain’t lied! I have family out there and it is expensive but it is BEAUTIFUL and the people are very nice
It takes time to know and get around town guy. When you have a day off maybe you and wife take a bus or tour around town see where places are. Did y'all moved there for business reasons.

I went to a lot of great shows in Solana Beach.
Im from Imperial (just south of SD) and i love it not as pricey as Diego but still DAMN BEAUTIFUL, and Tijuana just around the corner.
Thank you for this! I’m currently in the process of moving from downtown Atlanta to La Jolla, and I have no idea what to expect. This is helpful!

I lived in Atlanta GA for 25 years Cobb County mostly. Marietta, Austell, Kennesaw and Dallas in Paulding County.

I grew up in San Diego in the 70s and 80s as a kid from elementary thru high school. I dont know how my parents did it....they bought a house, but maybe the cost of living was just cheaper back then...I moved to florida, and yes, its way cheaper to own a home there today.
