As a lifelong Black Californian I’ve seen people leave only to come back a few years later. When you’re from here, it can be very difficult to deal with the climates and culture of other places. California is expensive for a REASON. We have beautiful topography, weather, always lots to do, very fresh produce (since most of it is from here in the state), and literally one whole side of the state is coastline, which means we also have hundreds of beaches. We have all the best theme parks and world renowned destinations from Napa Valley to Silicon Valley to Hollywood and everything in between. A lot of Black Californians realize after living in places like Atlanta or Houston that those places are great for weekend visits or to party, but not really great places to live. The fruit don’t taste the same other places and the vibe is just unmatched. Most of the Black people I grew up with still live here and the reality is Cali is not becoming less Black, it’s just that the Black population is more decentralized instead of just living in Oakland or South Central. Now we’re all over the state including in the desert. Most of the Black people that chose to not sell their homes or their parents homes are doing just fine. I know several Black people either buying or recently bought homes out here; most of us ain’t EVER leaving! 😎🌴☀️🌊

If you don’t mind the Northeast, look at a place like Middletown NY due to being relatively affordable, a largely middle class black population, commuter rail to NYC and it is a growing, diverse area. Further inland in the Northeast is more affordable and any decent sized metro area has a good sized black population.

I understand that many people are leaving California, but the question is, how many are moving TO California? What folks don't seem to understand is the hood is the hood, period. That's why Quik made that song "Jus Lyke Compton" all them years ago. They're trying to make Cali look bad right now in particular because of the whole "defund the police" and legislation passing on not giving big sentences for smaller offenses and the youngsters are playing right into their hands. Making it look like a bad destination for traveling and/or moving here to hurt the economy and make Cali's governing body play by their rules. Trust, people are being robbed/killed in all the other major cities in the nation that have sides of town with a lot of low income residences regularly as well but there's a POINT to report on Cali like it's a war zone right now.

FBA's, from California, don't be fooled by states with no income taxes: they make it up in high property taxes, high sales taxes, and higher energy costs depending on the state. Retirement income from Social Security income is not taxed in California. Oh, none of these states have the job market like California. Your job opportunities are based on your job skills, training, and education. California has the most colleges of any state in the Nation, once again, don't be fooled FBA's from Cali!

thank you for the video. interesting. because of concern and love for Black ppl, it compels to better contextualize, remind Us of and correct some things. not tryin to defend cali. I am resident. but truthfully there is no area in the u.s. that could be considered an acceptable space for the health and well being of Black people. western domination permeates the country. the debilitating effects of white supremacy is everywhere. any time We make any measurable progress, just say financially as a group, there is always a whitelash, policy wise, legally, and many times fatally. We have to stop fooling Ourselves that We can move to a “better area “ and find peace and happiness. it has always been either We stay divided or minimally organized and accept the current anti-Black paradigm and suffer the ramifications of that, or We adequately organize and unite and make major progress, but get beat down, killed, lied on as a result, and have everything taken away. We are in a no win situation here. florida is trying to abolish the teaching of accurate Black history and doing other dastardly things. miami is expensive. atlanta is expensive and isn’t georgia the home of a granite mountain where confederate icons are carved out(stone mountain)? do We even need to talk about texas? austin is not cheap and what about their power grid issues and environment? texas has always been a white supremacy bastion. and yes california tries to be slick and covert with their racism, but it gets blatant out here too. I’m sure you’ve heard about the reparations effort. there is no safe haven for Black ppl in this joint. please mention that when you make these type videos. Black ppl have been misled about things for centuries, which has resulted in much suffering. We should make sure We are not a source of that, try to break vicious cycles and stop trying to reinvent the wheel every generation. peace and love

I would like to consider still moving to California, but it just seems impossible. You'd be working to live, and living to work.

@Welcometothenow. I'm born and raised in southern California. You don't want waste your time and money coming to California. Just like you said you would be working to live there. It's just too expensive to live in California. The cost of living is high, homeless, illegal immigration and crime caused by illegal immigration. You don't want to live in a border state trust me.

I'm GOOD on moving away unless it's to Africa to retire.... the internet runs the World and tech companies are largely in CA so why leave???.... more money, more opportunities and BETTER weather and politics.

There is no way in hell I would ever move to any of the states mentioned. California is beautiful. Yes is expensive but the cost of living is soaring everywhere. We have a few knuckleheads, but for the most part I’m surrounded by other minorities in a way that I know I never would be in any of the American southern states

I hope those same ppl that left did t have aspirations for prosperity . We need progress in LA. Errrbody scared. And I KNOW the challenge. Rent, kids u love and want to feed. I MOVED here because it was economicly haywire. Had to be a lesson in there SOMEwhere. And I stayed. And it’s tuff, and I’m homeless with 2 LLCZ. One way or the other, ima figure this. And make my move. I’m not leaving .

I lived in NV and my bills made up for what I paid in CA. Also my wages was less than what I got in CA. The weather was killing me 😂😂😂🤣🤣. But NV is starting to get expensive bc of all these stadiums.

It definitely is though. Grew up in Houston and go back often. Had property there as well after my Dad passed. The taxes were definitely more affordable than Cali… and more affordable than taxes in Atlanta and surrounding metroplexes as well.

    • @FortheLoveofTraveling

@@KFontLab The house may be cheaper in Texas, but the property tax percentage is lower in California. The property tax payment may be less in Texas, but if the home prices were the same, you'd be paying a lot less in California. Also, keep in mind, Texas re-evaluates the home values every year which increases the property tax price annually, whereas California only re-calculates it if you're selling your home or doing major renovations. So, the property tax burden lowers the longer you keep your home in Cali.

As African-American that lived in California I don't know who is misinforming y'all about Georgia!! Georgia is not kumbaya there is no unity it is not diverse!! It is very racially segregated if you are from California it is a whole another way of living!! And it is not welcoming! And the rent is sky high so please don't be fooled and the job market is not good and they don't pay a lot of money please do your homework before you try to relocate there 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
