I used your lentil soup recipe as an outline to make my own today: 1/2 Red onion, 2 cloves fresh garlic, 1 green pepper, 1 carrot (cut fancy), 2 lg handfuls baby spinach, red lentil (about 1.5 c), 4 cans chicken broth, four frozen beef shish kebabs browned nicely, salt, and a spoon of chicken bouillon. I was amazed how well it came out. Very tasty and a nice consistency. It's not going to last 17 yrs in the freezer. It will probably be all gone today. Thank you, Chef, for the video!
I make lentil soup once a week. Your grandmother is not my grandmother but they probably were neighbors because I make mine with the same ingredients except I use spinach instead of Kale. For New Year’s Day it is our tradition for: Health, Wealth and Happiness!!! Thank you for sharing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good morning Chef J-P, fabulous, absolutely fabulous. The soup looks so nourishing and tasty. All the fresh goodness in one pot and one plate yes, I think a country bread would be very good to go with this. Thank you for sharing and showing, our winter is just starting in S. Africa, so soup will be very much eaten most of the time. Not forgetting pot roasts and casseroles, no surprise we add weight during winter, or maybe a toasted cheese sandwich with tomato soup. Do take care, Jack is a privilege fellow to eat with you. You are taking good care of the camera man!! Have a beautiful day. Kind regards.
Aw Chef, your sweet disposition and honesty makes you adorable to all of us!! Thank you for being you. Here’s to watching your channel another 17 YEARS!! ❤🥂
I made this soup last week for the first time, and shared it with my very well-traveled/dined neighbor. He said it was the BEST SOUP HE'S EVER HAD, and I have to agree.
Thank you Chef. I love how you explain everything. I had all the ingredients except for the sausage. I used half of pound of bacon instead. Love the texture. It was delicious. Keep up the good work. God bless
I love lentil soup. My grandmother used to make it with just parsnips and butternut squash. It was so good, especially when the butternut squash would break down, and blend into the soup. Yum. I will definitely make your grandmothers soup Chef. Thank you. Happy Monday!!
I like that you talk a lot, love knowing the why for things I didn’t know, and while relatively new…. I have a number of the rules well seated in my brain. Thanks for bringing your enthusiasm and reassurance to all the videos! ❤️🌷😁
I will try to remember this recipe. I love lentil soup, grew up with it in Germany. My mother came from the French border and she could cook like that. It's sad i never learned/inherited cooking skills in my life time, I rather work on old cars as a female 😂...my mother didn't have patients to teach me, so she send me out to help my dad in the garage. 🥰
Perfect for a rainy day such as today, the whole family loved it including a 9 month old! Like so many others, I turn to this channel for the wholesome recipes, positivity and inspiration . You have earned admiration like no other, thank you for inspiring me to cook.
Just made this for dinner. AMAZING! Added a leek because I had one, and spinach because I did not have kale. The whole family loved it! I'm not afraid to season food anymore. Thank you Chef Jean-Pierre❣️
I love Chef JP!!! One thing i do want to say though, please! People might be scared because of ALL the bowls he uses for his mis on place ( yes, i spelled that wrong 😂) but if you watch his video, you can see by when he adds thing, some can all go into 1 bowl, therefore cutting down on dishes. He just does it his way to explain and show what he is adding when. Don't be scared to put the celery and carrots in the same bowl, the herbs in the same bowl etc
The little clip at the end was a great addition, it really highlighted Chef JP's kindness. Seeing him fetch a bowl for (I'm assuming Jack) shows us how he's like when "the cameras aren't rolling"; he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Cheers for another great video, I've also never had lentil soup before so I'll have to try it!

Mhm yummie, I love lentil soup. In Germany, we use Wiener Würstchen instead of the Italian sausage. Some people also add a splash of vinegar. The sweet potatoe was new to me. Obviously we do it without the parmesan. 🙂
I made this soup today, and my sister thought it was one of the best soups she had ever had. I have to agree that this soup is very flavorful. Thank you for this recipe. I'll be making it again.
Never eaten a lentil? How exotic! The go-to cheap meal in France (and I believe most of Europe), as beans here in Mexico, and as versatile. This recipe seems really tasty, and open to variations.
