FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video! - Навчання та стиль

Gina is one of a kind. Her family is very blessed to have her. Thank you for sharing her with us. And when she sang “Ave Maria” OMG…😃
She sings Ave Maria to keep the time for sauteeing the onions. I'm guessing her grandmother taught her than and it's a family tradition...just beautiful!

I LOVE her cooking videos, remind me of my great grand, grand and my own mom, with different accents but the skills, talk (no defined recipes) and regular pots utensils, tips on the side, breaking out in song, GOOD home folks ARE the same regardless of color creed nationality etc, Italia Mama makes my day! Now I need to carry on the traditions! 😆🥰😘

Made me emotional Avé Maria played at my mothers funeral mass. She was very traditional. I am not Italian but our cultures are very similar. Such a beautiful lady
Same. My father sobbed while Ave Maria was sung at my mother’s funeral.
OH my, she made me cry when singing Ave Marie. So beautiful.
omg, me too!
Such a lady to watch makes cooking enjoyable 💕
Makes life great to see her singing and be happy that’s a good Italian lady💋
Coming over for dinner save me a plate😃
Same here, she's beautiful
Gina is my role model! Now I know why Italians live longer.
Right. Italian Cook Is the best all over the world! Love from Florence 🇮🇹
The soup warms the heart as much as the soup warms the body.
I love her, when she sang, I cried. She is wonderful. I hope she keeps cooking. I love her recipes. ❤️
You know, I think one of the greatest assets of YT is that some of the most interesting & entertaining vids aren't the highly polished, professionally produced ones but simply watching a home cook, a local mechanic, a regional artist, etc. post their passion for our enjoyment. This is a case in point. Thank you for this, I love it!
What is escarole
@@carolmatthews5484 As I understand, kind of similar to Lettuce, but with more Spice to it..of course u could get away with Spinach..but is more true to the recipe!
Gorgeous...I love this,no meat necessary..Add some some cheese&bread.. Extremely Healthy and filling....Gina is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am so happy I just received Gina's cookbook today. I started to watch her awhile ago. I loved her the first time I saw her. She reminds me of my grandmother. The way she acts and especially the way she cooks. I am 73 years old now and lost my grandmother in 1986. I am so going to enjoy your cookbook, it will be like grandma is there with me again. BTW my grandmother taught me to cook. Please keep well sweet lady, and keep cooking. I will be watching ❤
She’s adorable. Every time she adds an ingredient she repeats each 3 to 9 times. You can hardly miss it.
This woman makes me want to cook more often. She’s a joy to watch

I have an eating disorder and live alone, fairly isolated, so there's no one here to give me the kick I often need. So I watch UA-cam cooks. I have to say first that I wish I'd had a Grandma or Mother like Gina (oh how different life would have been!!). Secondly, I'm definitely going to give this recipe a try. Not just because soup is a good thing for freezing, but it's easy to digest and not too onerous to make. Having this lesson from Gina was a pure delight, as others have said you can't stop yourself from smiling. What a lovely warm soul she is! I'm adding the ingredients to my shopping list right now and I'll give it my best shot, though I can't promise to sing to my food. Thank you for a lovely cooking lesson Grandma Gina 🥰
Yeah... sing while cooking... 🙂
Play music and sing! It lightens the load, have a glass of wine with it and you will soon be smiling. I too am a loner and can be grim sometimes.
I love that she's a singing chef. It takes me back to my childhood when 3 generations of us would work non stop leading up to Christmas dinner and we will would sing and dance and laugh whilst we worked. I miss my grandmother and those days .....
I am French and speak English very badly, but Gina I adore you and I understand everything you say!
Before I was old enough to go to school, my working mother left me all day with an Italian nanny married to a spanish man. My nanny's name was Maria. So, hearing you speak with the italian accent of my beloved nanny, and then sing Ave Maria, it warms my heart Thank you very much Gina. Thank you for your recipe and thank you for your naturalness.
She has such a beautiful spirit about her and what a fabulous cook she is! God Bless Gina!

Nothing finer but to watch Grandma Gina and celebrate this day 12/22/22 Xmas around the corner. Just makes us smile listening to her beautiful warm voice. I've been watching her channel for years and keep coming back simply to feel love. Sometimes around holidays people are alone and feel like they have no one. Gina, as someone whose parents are Italian, I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed this. Thank you!!!

Hearing her sing warms my heart.
Her accent is so breathtaking!!!😍😍😍💙💙💙👏👏👏🤌🤌🤌
Wonderful lady. I was mesmerized watching her construct this soup. Of course her Italian accent was a real highlight. What a treasure she is. So inspiring!

My mother in Argentina, made minestrone soup while singing religious songs (the hymn to San Nicola Pellegrino, protector of the city of Trani, Puglia). What can I do to hold back the tears watching Grandma Gina?

I love watching Gina cook, she does put a smile on my face, especially when she sings. Us Italians are always like that, happy when we cook. Grazie tanto Gina. 🌹
When she sings you have no idea the joy it brings to my heart. My grandma passed away many years ago she was just like MaMa Gina. Spoke just like her! If i close my eyes it takes me back to a time of happiness... My grandma taught me everything about cooking and while cooking gave me so many seeds of wisdom i now plant the fruit of those seeds in my daughter!
Betty Pickle well done, sounds good.

Thinking maybe they never had homemade soup they think soup only comes in a can
Is it just me or does everyone else watch Gina with a smile from ear to ear?... Gina, you're adorable.. Stay beautiful!
I made your Minestrone Soup. It was delicious.
I do, too! Big 'ol grin on my face! Can't help it! ☺
I think a lot of us who grin and smile when we hear her singing and warm up to her so much it's because many of us lost our grandmothers, they passed on or situations change and so whether your grandmother was an old Italian woman , mine was an old Mexican woman , and I'm white....but now that doesn't reallly matter... it brings CoLOr !! Maybe this grandma is alot like Grandma we missed the opportunity to stand beside her at the stove and watch cook the watch her methods and procedures so when we get to sit by her, .... it's an opportunity to make up for time that we lost with her own Grandma's she sure is lovable very sweet and I sure do love the way she does Ave Maria! The minestrone soup, I'm going to give that one a try excellent !!... she's got a lot of good ones and boy.. her family was smart getting her in front of a camera and laying some of the stuff down for the rest of the world to appreciate her beautiful ways....thank you very much for sharing your grandma's Love of Cooking!!!
you just made me realize that I was smiling throughout the entire video!
Yes. She is a treasure. I wish we all could have such a lovely grandmother like her. The world needs more Ginas.
Beautiful to hear the mother Mary song , heart so pure straight from Italy
❤ I watch Gina in order to lift me out of my depression. Not enough words in the English language to thank you. May God send you 1000 blessings.

She is a wonderful and beautiful grandma
I'm an American chef trained in Italian / French cuisine with a Mexican heritage. In Mexico we do not soak our beans. My professional training always taught me to soak the beans. What I learned from this video was to add aromatics to the beans while they soak... makes total sense. Grazie Nonna Gina
Los frijoles, los parrales, los porotos, las habichuelas, los gandules, las judías, etc. Tantos nombres para un platillo tan sabroso oiga !
I sometimes soak my beans overnight so that they take less time to cook in the morning and, I oftentimes use epazote for flavoring... oregano and chile colorado (chile de ristra) is optional.
I picked that up too, adding the garlic and bay leaves. She is delightful 💜.
And another thing she grows her own food👏. We really need to do it right now.
I did not see her add any thing to the beans while they soaked. Please explain. thank u also tell how u cook your beans w/ out soaking

I'm West Indian and Italian. My precious mom is from Guyana & my precious papa is from Udine Italy.
My mom could make so many SCRUMPTIOUS things from scratch and the smell floating through the house (like you see in cartoons . LOL) made it so hard to wait for supper.
Absolutely I agree. 🥰🥰🥰
I am Sicilian and Italian and my grandma past away a couple of years ago. She made some of the best pasta sauce I ever had. Grew the tomatoes herself in her garden in her backyard. When she harvested all the tomatoes and cooked and jarred them which took a couple of days I would be playing video games downstairs where she had a second main kitchen. I took it for granted back then but I will never forgot those memories and now they are precious to me.

What a Gem Grandma Gina She has a cute thick Italian accent while cooking, then she sings Ave Maria while waiting for veggies to cook. Such a blessing for tired hearts. gracci
I'm Italian. We think that cooking is a paramount part of life. Life without cooking is like love without kisses....even in 2020.....When you come home after a full day of work, meetings, emails and customers yelling at you, you just start cooking and you feel alive, you feel like human....maybe just an egg, but try and do it.....
Her song is a blessing for her family, AND a timer for sauté of onion and garlic! What a treat to find this dear Grandma!! EVERYone should have one !! God bless Gma Gina and all she inspires!!

Yes I agree! ...Attention family members of Nonna Gina.. Try getting a Cookbook made of your Nonna's old world Italian recipes..What a gift for your family and to Nonna Gina's Fans!......My Nonna and my mother never wrote down one recipe..They cooked by taste, smell and eyeballed everything..That's how I learned how to cook, and still do it that way...But knowing not writing down the family recipes, we always had to guess after they were gone...So long ago I write down all my families old Italian recipes..I did so for my boys to carry on their Great Grandma, and their Grandmother, my mother's Italian recipes to pass down to their children..It's the best thing I ever did with my families old recipes...I think your family will treasure this cookbook, and even Nonna Gina's Fans would too.
