I am having the issue not, except my taillight still works. Mobile service said it would be 272.38. I'm not a mechanically inclined female, but I think I am going to try based upon your video. Thank you.
Owned three Tesla's from 2018 to 2023. Every one of them had this issue. They can make cars that drive themselves but Tesla cant figure out how to prevent water from getting in taillights...
1:35 That sticker will not help clearing condensation trapped, it does not allow moisture inside the light unit to get out through evaporation or any other means. That sticker is pressure equalisation vent, that allows only air to move in and out, not moisture. That’s why it’s placed high up and hid away. They are usually made of TPFE non-woven sheet, Gore is a typical supplier of these material, among many others. You may however, carefully peel it off, drain water or moisture trapped inside, and secure it back.
I know I can't be the only one who got kind of annoyed when he was talking about there being dirt behind the headlight but then didn't clean it before putting the new headlight on
Here's my old man rant: Back in the old days, whenever I had this problem with a headlight or taillight, you would remove the housing from the car and point a hairdryer into the hole that the bulb would fit into to remove the condensation. Then you would use clear silicone to seal up the seams around the sides to keep it from coming back. New cars have LEDs, so there is no bulb hole to use. I do like LEDs better, but it does make the entire housing more disposable when they go bad; which is a waste. Great video, thanks!
Also LEDs don't create enough heat to melt ice build up in cold climates. It would be nice if there was some kind of heating system for LED housings that only has to be used during the winter months to keep your lights from icing over.
You can do the same on these. There is gortex breather patch (looks like a bandage) that can me removed then do as you described and replace the patch.
Was just at the Tesla service center and I pointed my taillights with condensation. The advisor said, oh that's within spec. I said what other cars have owned that this is normal to do that? He looked at me with a blank stare... then said well Tesla has their own way of doing things and this is how it's designed.
I’m sorry to hear that. I know it sucks but do you have any other service centers near you? Sometimes it’s worth the trip if you have better service there. I would call to see if they can help first. If it’s still within warranty and has water inside, they should fix it.
If it's under warranty, tell the rep "condensation is more then 50%". That is spec threshold. Beyond 50%, they will replace it. Less than 50%, it's considered normal. The specs do not clarify what exactly 50% means, some SC consider it more than half of the surface having condensation, but most will interpret it as "more than 50% of the time there is visible condensation or water". In my case, I went back 3 times, first 2 I had water and it was brushed if as "within spec". Third time I specified it was more than 50% (even though it wasn't), and they replaced it for free.
Please help, I have a 2022 model 3 and can’t seem to find a right rear light with the “Red” Brake light. All seem to be Amber. Can you please describe the correct one I need?
Are you buying from Tesla? That should be the right one. Also, keep in mind that the turn signals are amber color while the brake lights are red. This might be why you are seeing lights that appear amber-they include amber turn signals but should still have red brake lights.
Has anyone else had this issue?

@@songbird819 love hearing this when people gain the confidence to do it themselves. You let us know if you have any issues! We’re here to help.

Nice tutorial.. Why didn't you wipe the dirt off before installing the new one?
Honestly, good question

Love the explanation. U explained things that in a maintenance class are assumed. Thanks for the tips

I was just waiting for that drill to slip and scratch the paint
I had mine replaced under warranty by mobile service.
Where can you get the replacement light ?
Found this one on ebay but you can get it from tesla too. epc.tesla.com/en-US/landingpage Part number: 1077398
This looks way too easy... Video #1 of many that I will watch today so I don't f it up 😅
You've got this 💪
What you removed is called a NUT, the bolt is the part that stayed in the plastic piece... You know " nuts and bolts"
I removed the tail light and drilled a hole on the underside.
I heard that valentine 1
terrible rear lights, all the uk ones fog up and are very weak/small lights.
