I am lucky enough to have a 1250 gs, m1000r comp and a new 990 duke. You have to set up the suspension on the M for road they send it out hard for track, your right its fantastic and bloody scary too, brakes are superb every part of it is better than my 990 Duke but the Duke is the most fun to ride at half the cost, well worth trying out the 990, you wont be dissapointed.
I had a 2015 S1000R for a few years. Such capable machines. But I used to find it so frustrating... so difficult to find the right time and place to realise its potential. Found myself riding quicker and quicker, just chasing that rush you get when the bike came alive at 8000+ rpm. Got home from a few rides and thought, 'You bloody idiot, that was too quick!' Sold it and bought a GS.
THANK YOU! Keep moving in the box. As a Canadian rider who rides in Europe most summers, I just rode in the UK for the 1st time this summer. Many things confused me. Those diagonal lines were one of them.
Hi Bruce as an ex motorcycle racer the power comes in in three surges. First at 3000 rpm second at 6000 rpm and then goes bang for leather after 9000 rpm. But we will not go there today.💯
Very nice, we rode one a while back, we definitely did not test all of it's performance, if anyone is lucky enough to own one hit us up once you need service parts or you've ripped up the tyres first week 😅 still got ❤ for the Tuono V4 Factory's though!

Great video. Love the looks of the bike. Little bit of a warning Bruce. I had that bike mount on my bike with the X2 mounted to it. The carbon rod snapped at the base and sent the camera down the road. It wasn’t even at speed. It was around 30mph and on a bumpy uneven road. The vibration was just too much. It was on an adventure bike too (ATAS) Nice plush suspension.
What a beautiful machine 😀I’d be too intimidated, and my skill level is nowhere near what's necessary to get the best out of that wonderful bike. Great review and video as always, footage from X3 looks great 😀👍🏼

Interesting to me that despite living where you do that you didn't take your GS to Tunbridge Wells. I'm currently in negotiations with them on a new RS1250. Anything I should know?! 🤔😉

Well, Bruce, there's something else you need to blur in your videos apart from the speedometer. In this one, your beard was nicely wrapped around your neck, not hanging down like when you ride the GS tractor - a clear indication of the speed😂. So you've got to be careful with that, too🤭. Sweet sounding stunning machine, good to get an as it rides video on it and not a video full of fluff and blubber. Like the way you've put the video together with the turning circle drone shot and the walk arounds. Not sure about the new camera it seems a bit wobbly but a god image.
Great review on a cool looking bike, I borrowed a earlier version of the S100R and after a couple hours the seat made me feel like I had been to a Micheal Barrymore pool party. The 🐀 in the Met did you a favour as every member of the Old Bill I know has left or is unhappy and wanting to leave and I can’t see it getting any better.

I’ve not ridden the new 1390 SDR but was chatting with Lamb Chops about it last night on my ‘Bru Time’ podcast. I genuinely can’t stop thinking about the M1000R, and he’s the same. I think it would be the M for me now - but they’re both incredible bikes. The Tuono looks, sounds and rides amazing, but I’ve owned one before and wouldn’t do it again personally.
@@teapotone A pretty penny but not compared to my friends Tiger 1200 which was nigh on £1000 due to the additional labour. My own RT valve check required the purchase of 3 shims and so was a grand-total of £7 and a couple of hours work as a DIY job. This saving enabled me, on a low budget, to continue to enjoy the bike and learn a little about basic servicing too.
Another lottery win bike to go on "my list". Ta Bruce that thing looks a riot though even as a responsible mid 50s bloke I am not sure that I could resist giving it the beans and yeh, that way lies trouble... 🖖👍😜 One thing that would persuade me to get this over a KTM would be that it's NOT a KTM (bloody luv 'em but their issues really do put a damper on 'em).
I have a M1000r comp and if you had it a bit longer you can soften the suspension quite a lot the race pro modes would be better named user mode 1/2/3 I run mine in race pro 1 all the time this allows you to soften the suspension but you can have traction set same as say road mode this is also true of all the other settings, so in a nutshell you could but wouldn’t have the race pro mode set to the same settings as rain mode obviously you would just use rain mode, hope I have explained this ok. But it is a great bike once you get your head around the settings.
on yhe M1000XR you have 98% of this bike and GS comfort. And i have almost 100 000 kms on my S1000XR, using it as an EDB. The novelty does not wear of. Every ride ends with a bin grin acros the face.
Ain't it funny how fast the Hooligan comes out on bikes like this? 😂 Well, for sure it's a fantastic machine but seing that it is well over 30 Grand (at least here in Germany) in this configuration is as insane as it's ability. Your insta does what mine did and twists under vibration on the selfie sick. Remedied by putting some thread lock on base of said stick. Great bit of kit however
Took one out a couple of weeks ago, power is as you would expect but the vibration in the mirrors was awful, put me off getting one tbh, couldn’t even work out the make of the car behind me at 70mph, and with that power you do need to know who’s behind/chasing you!!!!
It’s a stunning looking machine colours are great , looking good, A lot of money just to have a toy in the garage for a sunny day ,don’t know if the novelty would wear off , it definitely would devalue quickly with the mileage climbing up , like all bikes prices drop like a stone as soon as they get a few thousand miles on them 😢

Covid was the problem . Prices went through the roof during the pandemic and then dropped considerably once travel restrictions were lifted . I'm sure alot of dealers bought stock at the inflated price and are now left to suffer the losses
having had a gen 3 SDR and a SFV4 SP2, I'd be interested to know how the M1000R sits against those two, Bruce. The SDR was much more fun on real world roads than the SFV4.
having posed the question before watching the video, you answered as far as the SDR is concerned. I'm put off by peak power being at such high , and largely inaccessible, RPMs.
The only thing I don't like is the fact that it's a naked. It's a 174mph maniac and you seriously need a fairing to stop the buffeting. You don't buy a 25k bike and have to ride it slowly because of the wind causing fatigue. Not sure if it's a good use of money for that reason

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I certainly don't think it's something that would get positive feedback from an advanced instructor and I know it would be a point for debrief on a police course.
While I DO appreciate more relaxed ergos at my age I simply can NOT understand WHY manufacturers dont and apparently wont make a fully faired sportbikes with comfy ergos? WTF?? I mean yeah side by side the result might not be as sleek and sexy but it would still be AWESOME! Simply repostion the rearsets to be a little less rear set a little lower and then for the upper section of the fairing? Just literally make it TALLER and more spacious to accomodate higher bars....I just can never understand the all or nothing mentality of "a full faired sportbike is a wrist killer! The ONLY answer it lose the fairing TOTALLY and install dirtbike handlebars....WTF??? SERIOUSLY? I am so tired of "naked" motorcycles because I am old....I WANT a full faired sportbike WITH comfy ergos! I DEMAND it be built! F "single R" ....make me a DOUBLE R with single R ergos! PERIOD or just keep em all

Since you do miles and panniers and range can be useful, have you pondered waiting for the gen4 1390GT? Should be out at the bike shows this year.
Aye it’s ALL I’ve thought about since they released the 1390 SDR to be honest! It was a close call for me between the Gen 3 1290 SAS and the 1250GS!

You mentioned the bike was going back for its 12000 mile valve check. Do you know what the cost of that is out of interest from a main dealer?

While I DO appreciate more relaxed ergos at my age I simply can NOT understand WHY manufacturers dont and apparently wont make a fully faired sportbikes with comfy ergos? WTF?? I mean yeah side by side the result might not be as sleek and sexy but it would still be AWESOME! Simply repostion the rearsets to be a little less rear set a little lower and then for the upper section of the fairing? Just literally make it TALLER and more spacious to accomodate higher bars....I just can never understand the all or nothing mentality of "a full faired sportbike is a wrist killer! The ONLY answer it lose the fairing TOTALLY and install dirtbike handlebars....WTF??? SERIOUSLY? I am so tired of "naked" motorcycles because I am old....I WANT a full faired sportbike WITH comfy ergos! I DEMAND it be built! F "single R" ....make me a DOUBLE R with single R ergos! PERIOD or just keep em all
