A lot of roads around me I had ridden plenty of times before, then 1 day a car "didn't see me" at a roundabout on my pushbike. The result broken pelvis, hip socket, collarbone and nerve damage along my entire leg. 17 months later still need a walking stick to get around. Never be too complacent
It sounds like it rated pretty high on the “Grinning in your helmet and laughing like a lunatic” scale 🤪👍! I always shake my head at the “Too much power to be any good on the road” comments 🤔. Yes, all you really need is a 125, but wouldn’t that be a boring world 😉.
I have the s1000r sport and its more than enough for the road. I have lowered the gearing for more mid range torque. Cruise control and all the tech you will ever need.
I'm glad that bikes like this exist, but honestly, I'd have WAY more fun on the road on something like a Street Triple. On this thing, you crack the throttle open for a second and a half then back the hell off. It's a kind of fun, I'm sure, but I like my fun to last longer. (That's what she said 😅)
💯 right , I had a test ride on the Zh2 Kawasaki and it was amazing but all I kept saying to myself is “ this bike is completely pointless “ but what a machine. I had the Speed Triple 1200Rs , same thing with that , way above my skill level and I think I can count on one hand how many times I actually had fun on it

Great video Dan, what an amazing machine that is but for the price you expect it to be. Love the carbon pack. It seems to a 1000 that you could use every day for going to work then just comes alive when you want to give it a blast! I would never be able to afford one but a great bike.
Dan I'm not sure you had the full experience in dynamic mode. I think the power slightly reduced in the lower gears in dynamic mode. It's only in race onwards that it goes bonkers in second gear although there is a massive power dip in second gear which needs to be mapped out for full fun.

as an experienced rider of scooters and more traditional motorbikes (i used to ride a 1200cc 100hp naked bandit) i test rode a cb1000r from a friend of mine and with 130hp it felt absolutely ridiculous for the roads and in less than 5 minutes i was overtaking everything and going way over my safety zone. Decided that for a middleweight naked bike, 80hp was the maximum i would go for a road bike and i am a calm rider and not a kid anymore. High hp sell and make excelent topics for bar talk but in real roads conditions there is a point where more is less.

I'll play devils advocate here slightly, obviously the huge power is always going to be the talking point but with the fancy electronics to keep everything in check , amazing brakes and top of the line suspension I actually think these hypernakeds can be safer on the road when ridden to your own skill level. Long story short, I'm looking to "upgrade" hence watching this review. If these types of bikes disappeared from the UK market it would be a huge loss in my opinion.
Having seen your video off the BMW S1000R it seems a better option than the S1000RR simply because you found it to fast and to powerful to enjoy on the roads which I do agree but the manufacturers should give an option with those sorts of bikes to reduce some of the engine power depending on the roads you are riding on and what the weather is like that’s something I think it should be option especially when some of the motorbikes have a lot of engine torque I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this one

I would say one of the best at this point in time. The SFV4SP2 there is almost nothing to choose between them. I have no idea what the KTM is like yet.
Another brilliant review! Thanks Dan! ❤ You said it! What a weapon! Your reaction trying to hold on for dear life says it all! Not a big fan of the aero side panels tbh... kinda makes me subconsciously think that you always have to go really fast everywhere you go😅
The thing I don’t get about the winglets is: how necessary are they really for me? Hes probably 65kgs. I’m 105. I already have 40kg extra down force through and through. I can lean forward a bit and get up to 45kgs. They’re probably meant for the average guy or below avg guy, right?!??
I'm 91kg without my bike gear, but thanks for thinking I'm slim! :D Winglets provide great downforce at speed, not much use elsewhere. On track I think they'd make a difference.
I have a question for you have you ever tested the new Honda CBR 1000RR R fire blade SP 2024 model it is similar to the Ducati panigale V4S but the Honda is not has heavy in weight but the rev range from the engine is a bit higher than that of the Ducati it might be worth testing both of them to compare them also the Honda has the quick shift for the gears ⚙️ as standard on the bike with the Ducati panigale V4S it’s an option neither bikes will be much good on small country roads but the engine noise will be listening to that’s for sure Honda still makes the 2022 version of the fire blade not sure what the difference is between them because they look exactly the same to me
You’re video test review off the Ducati desert X was actually very interesting but I noticed that you had a Ducati panigale in front of you that would have been old model because Ducati has brought out a brand new version of it I don’t think there’s been any test reviews about it yet but you might be interested to try it even though the new bike has 216BHP which is a lot for motorbike and the overall weight is 190KG and it costs just over 24 thousand pounds
It probably won’t be long until Ducati brings out the new V2 panigale and then they will update the street fighter because they have the same engines and one of their touring bikes uses the same engines so that will be another new bike but the question is are they too fast for using on the road and are the old bikes better than new bikes they are questions people will want to know
I watched your review of the Ducati scrambler 800 and having remembered that you can get the Ducati monster for the A2 license and it’s same price as the scrambler but you can take the power limiter off after getting a full motorbike license it makes more sense buying the monster and than scrabbler 800 but I would be interested to know your thoughts on this one
I would really love to see the forward facing view when accelerating hard like at 7:00 in the video instead of a view of the front of the bike or a rear facing view back onto yourself. I feel like seeing forward would be much better when you are hard on the gas. Just my opinion so take that for what it's worth. Otherwise, great video, amazing bike. Keep up the awesome videos.
Unlike the USA, in the UK video records, even old, can be used against you for criminal charges of speeding, reckless driving and more. So you can ony record "good safe legal riding" unless you can use "doubt" as a defence. Hence the video will always change before it gets "lary". But people can't really go into depth! Because even saying that could be seen as an admission of guilt and hiding, so take this info from a kind brit explaining why our videos tend to vary slightly! Take care!
Shiftcam kicks in at 8k revs. There is a definite change in profile & lunacy, at least to me. However, I have had mine for 12 months now. FYI, comp pack MR is 194kg wet. Tank is 16.5 litres, so you were either side 😉 Ref the wings, it is the anti wheelie setting keeping the wheel down. The wings look nice but mostly pointless and super hairy in cross winds, I have had my front wheel get pushed approx. 1 metre to the side at 80 km/h, my guess is the wind gets under the wings or something - I have not had this on other motorbikes in similar windy conditions.
You’re review of the Ducati scrambler 800 was very good and I do agree that it’s over priced especially when you add many options it’s the same price as the Ducati monster which has quite a bit more power and it will be good fun especially when the weight of the bike is similar to the scrambler. But the scrambler is a good looking bike but it’s expensive for a first bike but as you said it’s a good way of getting into the Ducati range of bikes. Just a thought for you if you’re considering test riding the new Ducati panigale V4S it is probably worth testing the old one to get an idea of what the bike is like to ride because they are quite similar the same with the V2 panigale but the biggest difference between is the power and other two are more considered as a track road bike and the V2 panigale is somewhere between that but still quite useable on the road but they should put a bigger petrol tank in the bike
I think the standard M1000r is 199 kg wet, the comp higher spec with two ish weight loss and if it has got titanium headers that’s another 2/3 kg loss, so it should be around 194/195kg on the competition model..
Didn't notice any adverse vibes, suspension is hard but it's what I expected and fine for the road, bar wobble wasn't too bad at the speeds I was doing, riding position is a bit sporty and after an hour it was nice to have a little break. I'm 5 foot 8.
My experience 1 year into riding the MR daily. Vibrations are minimal my Diavel V4 vibrates more, the handle bar mirrors vibrate a lot but my brain tunes that out and I can see everything I need to. There is ever so slight bar wobble above 180km/h only if I am sitting back, pushing my weight forward settles the front and topping out at 260km/h is fine, I am a heavier rider above 90kg and at 6ft I can put my weight where it needs to be. Ref position, going down the mountains for more than an hour puts pressure on my wrists, but I have compensated for that with 20mm bar risers, now all good for 2.5 hours non stop and up to 9 hours riding in a day. Suspension being hard is a myth. In Race Pro it is confugurable, 7 out of 14 is about perfect for riding the bumps in curves where I am, maybe a little too soft on occasions.
Not ridden the 1390 yet. Regarding the Streetfighter v4, it's been a while since I rode it so I struggle to accurately remember how that felt. It was damn quick, but I feel the ride I did was a lot slower as I was in a group.
To be honest I think it looks like a dog's dinner. It is just a confused mess to my eyes. You say that you 'have not experience anything like this before, certainly not a naked bike" yet you have ridden the Streetfighter V4s; so can you justify that for me please? Have you ridden the Super Duke R? If so how does it compare, bearing in mind that you are riding on normal roads?
I have ridden the Super Duke R, but a few years ago now. I don't remember what that feels like tbh. V4S simply didn't feel as brutal as this, but then I only had that for a couple of hours so I didn't get to use it on roads I know.
@@Pommo70 Methinks you need to learn to undersand the concept of context before coming out with such pitiful humour. In any case, the numbers who have purchased either the SF or the SD (or both) inform that you are the one with egg on your face, not I. Any objective observer would tell you that stylistically, both of these two bikes have far more to offer, even if not to the taste of any particular individual; and the SD is certainly not to mine.
@@Pommo70 Firstly, don't ever tell me to shut up, you superior little moron. If it were down to idiots like you, there would be no debate on this or any other platform. All you seem to be able to do is insult the commentator; you don't know the meaning of debate. Here is a taste of your own medicine. Secondly, if I have a problem with BMW bikes, why do I buy and ride them? The real irony is at I was considering getting one of these self same bikes, hence my watching the reviews. I think the issue is actually the reverse here; you have an unnatural love affair with BMW and cannot tolerate any criticism of their bikes, no matter how personal and subjective. The bike my well be superior in many ways, but in my eyes it looks like a dogs dinner. Have a good cry and then get over it. You like the look of it? Bully for you. Buy one yourself and then you can sit in your garage salivating whilst you toss yourself off over it. You know nothing at all and are determined to demonstrate it to all.
They are so closely matched. It will come down to personal choice on looks, brand, etc. SF peak torque arrives earlier and is less tame. MR is easier as a daily and peak torque arrives higher in the rev range. I have the MR and ridden the SFV4SP2 - and ordered one to sit alongside the MR and Diavel V4 in my garage.
The biggest problem with bikes like these is that they lead people into a false sense of security and not by a small amount either, 75-80% of bikers don't have the skill set to ride a 600cc to its full potential let alone a bike like this and i would even go as far as to say jump on an early Yamaha xjr1300 and you will soon realise your true skill level as well as have way more fun
False sense of security because of the electronics? All new bikes nowadays have loads of electronics. Now we are at an era where for safety even an mt09 has to have electronics and this is normal. I don't see this as an issue. Electronics help and it's fine to have these safety features.
The wings are only needed on track, obviously. It’s easy to remove them for road riding. This bike is designed for road and track so if you are never going to take it to the track, don’t waste your money.
Please watch this he says @ 11min , "this thing doing"this" and sakes his handle" @ 100mph. I don't know if all m1000r have this issue or he got a bad bike, or maybe m1000r needs more front weights.
You need to push your weight over the front when at high speeds (let's say anything over 180km/h and I have been upto 260km/h many times) Sat back the front is a little loose but def no wobble. I am 93kg, so that may make a difference compared to lighter riders.
That's my experience. I already changed the settings of the steering damper by 2 clicks. It's a bit better now but still not perfect. Will try to adjust it 1 or 2 clicks further.
The biggest difference between is the weight the New V4 is 190KG and the V4S even lighter in weight and torque from the engine so it will be even faster to get going and even more noisy because Ducati has changed the exhaust on the bike
It's really annoying when you put a static photo as you go over the limit. I know it requires more editing time to blur the speed , but that would be so much better
I have an s1000r and very happy with it, and I can think this M wouldn't add much day to day etc etc. But really, bikes are more want than need, I do want one of these. Hope I can avoid.
I had the 23 S1000R Sport and upgraded to the 24 M1000R. The shiftcam engine is a lot smoother and easier to ride in lower RPM. I think you should test ride one for yourself.....it certainly changed my mind.
You tested the BMW R1250R the other motorbike similar to that is the Ducati monster and the street fighter V2 both off these Ducati bikes have the same engine but one is quite a bit more powerful and that is the V2 street fighter which has 153bhp compared to the Ducati monster 111bhp but they both come with Ducatis evo quick shift gearbox something possibly worth trying
The Streetfighter V2 and Monster have different engines. StreetFighter v2 is the 955cc Superquadro engine from the Panigale V2. The Monster has the 937cc Testastretta motor also seen in the DesertX, Multi V2, Supersport and Hypermotard.
Yes I knew that but Ducati had upgraded those models and the monster actually has a 1000cc engine which is part of the update on the new model which came out two years ago
Not true. I have no idea why reviewers have given this impression over time, I can guess they have not spent the time to configure it. It is completely configurable, and I have the suspension set to 7 of 14 in a Race Pro map, which is middle of the road and as comfortable as my Diavel V4. Ok, I do not ride on UK roads. I am in the Pyrenees mountains, and I have taken my MR offroad by accident for 16km because I could not be bothered turning around and backtracking. I am coming up to 12000km in 12 months, and it is my daily, including limited winter riding. I have ridden 9 hour days, ok I have the high seat to open my knee up and I am 6ft.
If you purchased this exact spec but never tracked it, apart from bragging rights, have you wasted your cash? Your description of the rev range suggest 2 personalities, before 6k and after.
Not really, I have this same bike and love it. Zero plans to track it but I do loads of twisty rides every day. Upto 8k revs it is tame. 4k to 7k it is fun and tame, 8k and above shiftcam kicks in, and oh boy, she is crazy. 10k and above it is scary, depending on your experience. I do not have direct throttle response but a long accelerator in the race setting.
"this figure may be skewed by two things: Consumer Reports readers are more likely to prefer and buy BMW motorcycles and these bikes are usually ridden for more miles than, say, Kawasaki and Suzuki bikes which may skew the results." I guess as with anything, you pay your money and you take your chance.

The wings look nice but mostly pointless and super hairy in cross winds, I have had my front wheel get pushed approx. 1 metre to the side at 80 km/h, my guess is the wind gets under the wings or something - I have not had this on other motorbikes in similar windy conditions.
Turned anti-wheelie off completely. Fun bike!
I personally felt that the quick shifter wouldn’t shift in lower rpms.
With the comp pack, officially, it is 194kg with fuel. Your thinking is correct.
what about the vibration, the really harsh suspension, the wobbly bar at high speed or the too sporty riding position for a naked ?
how tall are you ?
How does it compare to the street fighter or the 1390 Superduke ?
Not ridden the 1390 yet. Regarding the Streetfighter v4, it's been a while since I rode it so I struggle to accurately remember how that felt. It was damn quick, but I feel the ride I did was a lot slower as I was in a group.
old profile picture is 1000 times better
You say it looks like a “dogs dinner” then you mention the Ducati SF and the Super Duke. 😂
@@michaeltelemachus5112 Hush your gums. You’re coming across as someone who has an agenda with BMW for producing a superior motorcycle.
M1000R or SFV4S?
Fancy doing a cbt on this..... oh its a review
Ohhh get you! 😁
I have one and it's utterly spectacular. Gonna BT tune it next year.
Nice!!
The wings are only needed on track, obviously. It’s easy to remove them for road riding. This bike is designed for road and track so if you are never going to take it to the track, don’t waste your money.
They are needed on road too. Because they look cool! :D
@@EnglishbikerdanTotally agree
Have you ever tried the Ducati scrambler 800cc engine night shift bike
Yes I have, there's a review up on my channel from a few months ago.
Thank you for that information I will look 👀 for it because I use to own one
Ducati has stopped making the 1100 scrabbler and they have kept the 800 version
I actually sold 2020 bmw s1000 rr for brand new R1.❤
Many people say this bike wobbles, and stock steering damper doesn't work! Is it true?
I had no issues on the road, but maybe that's a track thing?
It's just to be safe, the law here is quite aggressive when it comes to any kind of speeding!
Be a good track bike
Absoolutely!
A litle stiff and firm i heard😎
Tee hee!
As long as you are enjoying it, it's not a waste.
@@Englishbikerdan I agree
Not really, I have this same bike and love it. Zero plans to track it but I do loads of twisty rides every day. Upto 8k revs it is tame. 4k to 7k it is fun and tame, 8k and above shiftcam kicks in, and oh boy, she is crazy. 10k and above it is scary, depending on your experience. I do not have direct throttle response but a long accelerator in the race setting.
Dans next bike
Haha, maybe!
Just buy an mt09, far more fun.. 😊
And then you ride the MR 😉
its a great looking bike, however pricy.
Dont forget 40% of BMW bikes break under warranty....so once there fixed for free how much does it cost out of warranty??
Where did you get that data? Could you share your source?
@@Englishbikerdan google bmw motorcycle failure rate. Theres 3 seperate sources
@@Englishbikerdan If you google top ten most unreliable car brands, all the germans are in there. Its a bit of a myth when it comes to german engineering. Japanese engineering is far superior. Lets look at F1, the Red Bulls dominate with Honda engines, MotoGP Honda are the most successful, Rossi was Yamaha, the germans have never been successful where it counts, racing, simply because of unreliability. Need i say more.
Why do those mirrors looks so out of place?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the MT-09 better and that sounds better
Oh… have I told you BMW has a poor service record. But you know…. It’s a bimmer
And it has got everything for a price that is Too much. Is it much more than the Speed Triple 1200? Nope… does it do more? Nope but it is a BMW and it is Expensive. Yeah tried it
Common Dan… Have you fallen to that BMW expensive everything expensive is better crowd? Is a Ferrari better than a Porsche because of the price?
It's just a fact. It's an expensive brand, same as Ducati. I'm not commenting if it's better or not. Just making an observation based on known info.
I'll take the S1000RR instead. Naked bikes can FO.
@@helsfury My back can't cope with the those sportsbikes! Getting old!
Too many electronics for me. A few years down the line it will be a nightmare when things start going wrong and those winglets look dangerous for pedestrians in an accident. I'll stay with Japanese bikes thank you very much.
When I test drove this bike, I ended up buying it. DO NOT TEST RIDE.
The bike was completely bored with this route and this riding style and a bike with 50 hp would have been enough for this
Bikes cannot get bored, but I had a great time. At the end of the day, I can only show footage that won't land me with a hefy fine or a ban. Anything super illegal never sees the light of day for very obvious reasons.
@@Englishbikerdan It's not about doing or demonstrating anything illegal that doesn't belong on such a channel if I want to be on the road illegally with a motorcycle, 50 hp is still enough even if you had time to do what the bike can do, the bike would have been completely bored because very few people on this planet can even exploit the potential of this machine and they get a lot of money when they go shopping on their bikes on TV every two weeks. Yeah, I still don't understand. But heyho! I had fun.
Mag sein, aber alleine Spaß wurde noch nie in PS gemessen
