We show you step by step how to install a set of Arlen Ness mini ape hangers on our Twin Cam Softail. We changed out our cables and brake line for longer units and for a clean look we routed the wires through the bars. - Авто та транспорт

Love the way the guy gives you a little tips on how not to fuck up, sounds like words of experience there. I've been working on cars and bikes all my life, doesn't matter how long you do it, you always make little mistakes here and there that you have to straighten out as you go. This guy is very knowledgeable. Great video.
Awesome video thanks for the links as I am changing handlebars on my chopper. I will be ordering parts from you guys soon!
Dude you RULE! Im lookin at a Slim next and this REALLY gives good advice on addin apes
Great tutorial. Those handlebars make the bike look so much better
That'll help me install the new 12" Apes on my Rebel 1100DCT.
Thanks Patrick
I'm thinking of 10" ape hangers
Getting ready to change mine out tonight! Can’t wait to get it done!
How did it go?
Great job!
Always appreciate the torque specs
Nice job.
What length of brake line did you use? I didn’t hear a specific.
Do you need to lengthen the power wires at all pr do most bikes have enough extra
Did you have to do any work on the modular prior to assembly? I got a set for my victory and the handle bars aren’t going together.
Is loctite recommended on any of the bolts?
GREAT 👍
How easy would ot be to put those ape hangers bars on a VTX1800T
Wait, I must have missed it, did you have to extend your switch housing wires? I am putting 13" mini apes on my 07 FLHRS and am trying to figure out if I need to extend those or not. Thanks
I have this bike how big can i go before changing cables bc i was wanting to go 10 inch how bog are these
I'm trying to find what actually came on the 2015 Fatboy. Whoever had it before I bought it, changed the original handle bars to a set of Drag style handle bars, and I hate them. I don't like how they feel or look, and the person took everything off the bike, and I'm also going to have to buy a 2" riser and whatever else I need to buy. Would like to know what type of original handle bars came on the 2015 and need know what else I need.
I dig that this guy used a set of bars that are specifically made to come apart and make this install easier, but he didn't so it shows how much really goes into a bar install.
No, I showed exactly what goes into a bar install. We used those bar specifically for a the look. I actually prefer to do non modular bars. We have other bar installs that are not modular also.

Wondering what are some Handlebar options other than mini apes for a 2016 Dyna LowRider.
Plenty of T-bar options out there. A good combo is the Biltwell Murdock risers and Tracker bars. www.jpcycles.com/handlebars-and-controls/biltwell
I like to use spraycan clearcoat so I can reuse my grips if I ever change bars again much easier to remove and reinstall. It gets hard and if you ever want to remove just slide a thin piece of sheet metal between the bar and the grip and it will break the bond allowing you to slide the grip right off
If you squirt some Zippo fuel on the bar, get the nozzle just inside the grip and twist, and all the adhesive just melts. Slides off easily
@@stephenrutland6648 nice! I’ll have to try this out
What sizes are the actual risers? do the handlebar fit 2019 rk special?
very short riser only 2". The riser wouldn't work with the RK but the bars would. We used them on this RK build ua-cam.com/video/o6Lrv1fCPCc/v-deo.html
are those stcok handlebars on the bike to start? and what height risers are those?
No, those are Roland Sands Moto Crossbar handlebars. The risers that are on the bike in the beginning are 2 inches.
Like the video!!! Was just wondering if you ever do videos for metric bikes? Almost every video out is for Harleys. Would like to see something like that on an old metric just to see a comparison.
We do installs on metric bikes when we have them available. We have some BMW content on deck, stay tuned!
@@jpcycles if you ever do a video on an old 2002 Suzuki Volusia Intruder VL800 please tag me!!! Any video or mod for that would be cool!!! Thanks for responding!!!
I see that you didn’t have to bleed the brakes when you installed the brake cable, was that correct?
No, you will need to bleed the brakes if you change brake lines. ua-cam.com/video/ZMv9l7tIfMQ/v-deo.html
Did you use wire extensions?
we didn't have to. The original bars that were on this bike were taller so we already had excess wire tucked away on the bike.
I have a 2016 Fat Boy S, I want to put 16in Carlini apes on it. Do you know if the original wires are at least long enough to make it through the bars, then I can add the wire extensions to make it work?
What were those old no7 grips on the old bars?
They are discontinued .
Are the wires stock length or aftermarket?
Stock length.
What year is the Softail in this video?
2013
Im gonna do this really soon but what a pain in the ass
It's not too bad. Hit us up if you have questions.
Did you change any cables at all for the 10 inch or all of them are a stock cables
Yes, we cover that in the video.
So the wiring is what he is talking about I believe. Wiring replacement is not covered
Height??
Well I have a 2013 FXDF fat bob with ABS brakes and twin disc and all the hose ends are Crimped so unless I pay big money to Harley no apes , With my Evo I can put apes on it with my eyes closed . The FXDF I bought it a week ago now I want to sell it , 30,000 kl on it .
You can use a number of different kits to replace the lines on your bike with the longer ones you need. Or piece it together yourself.
@@jpcycles Thank you for that , That was nice of you , I'm just old and grumpy
That cowbell sound near the end of the vid is TERRIBLE!
