I put 16s on my 06 heritage Softail for pain relief I'm a retired diesel mechanic I thought I was gonna have to sell my bike a friend had the same problem he told me the apes would relieve pain and he was very right my shoulders don't hurt like they did before
Ive been riding with 14" for the past year. I wanted 16" la choppers prime apes, but those are 16" tall with 14" grip rise.... so no change at all!!! Ended up going to the 18" prime apes. 18" tall but 16" grip rise!!
I was considering apes because I get some serious between the shoulder back pain -- that lasts for days afterward -- after a few hours in the saddle. The thing that may stop me is how these affect visibility down the road. I'm always scanning for deer and what not and these would hinder that. Nobody talks about visibility. What are your thoughts?
I was against apes but then i put 16” on my 22 Road King and wish i did it long time ago, im 6’2 and it is much more comfortable, the look is just a bonus.
@@RonnyVillegas-f8w not sure, but the width was basically the same as the stock, i just basically went higher from 12” to 16” with a bit of a pullback.
Looks awesome. I really can't stand the stock bars on my slim, they look cool but are uncomfortable. Just ordered the pre wired hillside 14s but I'm 5'9 so it should be perfect.
Great video man definitely helps a lot I was just about to order a set of bars for my bike but i was worried about the handling since I am new to riding on the street and I have had people tell me you can't turn good with apes and they make your arms hurt but I can't lie I kinda figured they were just pussies or never actually ride with apes. Thanks for the advice boss man guy
I'm only 5'9 and I have 14s on my Deuce, which is dead on shoulder height. I had 16s in 5 inch risers on my Wide Glide when I took it to Key West from northern Virginia. Most people who trash talk ape hangers, I'd wager have never actually rode with them.
they seem to be more comfortable than normal handlebars because they allow you to rest your arms and you can lean to turn easier with the added leverage, so they look cool and function well
I'm in the process or removing a set of 10" rise ape hangers from my 2010 Wide Glide. I'm going back to stock bars. If you like Ape hangers, that's fine with me but they made my arms ache on long rides and I don't feel that I have full control over the machine. YMMV
I just bought some 12inch bars similar looking to the ones in the video apart from mine being Chrome, im looking for an extended clutch cable and throttle cable but cant really find much on the Internet. Any of you guys have recommendations of where to find them?
I got meat hooks 18s on my Dyna wide glide factory riser I’m 5’11” they are very comfortable and they definitely make the bike look more aggressive and riding more fun. They are head turners for sure I love hearing people talk about them and make fun of them with their arms way up in the air like ha ha ha ha how do people ride like that ? Then I tell them where’s your arm comfortably when you drive ? Straight across shoulder length correct ? Yes. So that’s the same with apes if you get the right size for you. Your shoulder length like a steering wheel in a car
@@angelomaurizio1668 I'm 5'5" and I put a 14" ape hanger in my 2020 Fat Bob (with original 2" risers). The handlebar was adjusted, a little bit inclined to me. My hands are a little above my shoulder, but I feel comfortable and my position is much better than with 12" handlebar. I hard recommend you try in a store different sizes, in my case 14" + original risers are great!
they both look great, and I want to add them to my 'lil Virago. given a traditional wired setup, all I have to extend are the clutch wire, the Front break wire and trottle wire. that's not at all impossible to do. hmmmmmm.
You said you'd put the link to what bars you installed in the description. Which ones exactly were they? I'm looking at some HCC Hellbent 16" x 1.5" bars for my 2017 Softail Slim
Just take it slow for like a month after you get apes only becuse the bike to me felt Hella different especially at high speeds once you get comfortable it feels like the original
I will never ever ride without Vance Hines exhaust and apes. Ever it’s the only way to go and obviously forward controls is not even worth mentioning because I would rather die than to ride without that either
it was that moment on that cold, brisk autumn morning that i came to the life changing revelation that would change the course of my life forever. on that day i no longer wanted to engage in anal sex, and so it was done.

Bike sounds amazing
I did 2700 miles on my bobber. I absolutely agree with y’all on here. A windshield!

I noticed no obstruction with my 10 inch set.

what did you have to change... clutch or brake-line wise...? I have the 22" road special and lookin at the 16" "pre-wired" 47's... Thanx brother
Whats was the with for your ape
Didn’t have to change anything, the bars were thicker so that allowed for wires to go inside, which makes it a nicer look.

Could I also ask if the camera is on your helmet chin-bar (so I can get an idea of eyeline view over/through the bars)?
I'm 6 foot currently running 14 inch bars on my ultra classic love them
i just put them on my street glide and agree, they’re awesome
After installing apes I had back pain on long journeys. The solution was a wind shield! Ride on!

Heyyy man same here 5’9 with 14 inch apes, hate that people care about other peoples bikes but the bars are just to comfy with me to part with
I live in northern VA and holy hell that’s a ride bro
Definitely I don't think I ever go back to traditional bars I'm 5 foot 5 have 12 hangers
I am 5'10", have 17s with 4" drop on a hidden 1-1/4 riser. I am changing out for a 4" riser as the current bars are too low.
Your enthusiasm over these bars, sell it for me.

How does it ride on the long trip like motorways do you put there a lil windscreen on or is it just comfortable enough like this ?

i believe mine were from ebay. ill have to check back because its been awhile
I don’t see a link for the handlebars. They look great!

I’m in between 16 vs 18 would you do 18 all over again?
You got a link on the bars?
I'm 5'5 riding on a stock seat for a Yamaha Stryker and thinking of going with 14" apes, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
I'm 5'7" and have a stock seat and 14's on my Softail Standard. I love my apes. My hands ride at or, just above my shoulders, nothing drastic.
@@blown8642 Guessing I should be ok too.
@@angelomaurizio1668yeah it will work but if your 5’5 I recommend 12’ it will be a little more comfy but do what you want man be safe have fun

Apes look.great.. how r the hangers on the shoulders?
I put ten inch bars on my Scout Bobber, best mod I’ve made
I’m 6”4 so I think I will go for the 16 inch as well for my Softail !
What year softail?
Bro 18in you'll be amazed
I bought the 16” pre wired bars. Do I need extensions for the clutch and brake?
I like how apes handle and feel
Can confirm buy pre wired if it’s available!!
Wasn’t available for my dyna wide glide

Is it easier to manuvere in traffic with ape hanger compared to stock handle
You had these 16inch bars for atleast a year now,do you still enjoy them and especially on long distances runs?...
Where can I order some pre wired ape hangers ?

Looks like kstkustoms
You recommended to buy the kit prewired. Why isn't it prewired to begin with??
Amazing bars bro, where did you get it and how thick are the bars?
Awesome bars.. What brand ? I am looking for my Street Bob. thanks
Hey where did you got those bars from,? I’m trying to get ones for my ‘13 softail slim
Makes me wonder if when I had my 1981 Yamaha IT125 dirt bike if I put ape bars on it how it would have come out.
What exhaust is that, please? It sounds perfect!
great video...i'm also interested what exhaust you selected.
I love those gloves
Where did u order the wire and the bars from?
bruh whats the exhaust ??? sounds great Im shopping around right now for one but its so hard to choose
What stage tune do you have? I hear the pops! I want those as well
Man it’s ultra sweet 🤗
thank you!
im 6 foot and looking at 12 inch... or should i do 14s on my 2023 lowrider s
So if there just about your shoulder how tall are u.. So I can get a reference
Those bars look sick

They will I’m 5’9 with 14s and it’s amazing, super comfortable and the handling is amazing
Clean handles tho good job worth it
thank you!

i definitely feel the same!
Nice bike
Looks great, bro! Let’s ride someday
Who makes this bars? And what model?
been tryna figure out myself ,who makes a video on bars and doesn’t even give the name
Hell yea 16s are what ya want looks good dude
Cant you just get bigger ape hangers, not in length but in circumference
it was that moment on that cold, brisk autumn morning that i came to the life changing revelation that would change the course of my life forever. on that day i no longer wanted to engage in anal sex, and so it was done.
With a name like that I assume you held off for all of 5 seconds.
What bars are these?
So from your experience is the handling that much of a difference with ape hangers
Id love to see that bike from the side
Just be glad it wasn't a Road King!
what brand bars are these?
Do you have forward controls, or are you putting your feet on highway pegs poser
yes and yes? all slims have forward controls, but im pretty tall so yea im a poser?
