It is an awesome exclusive guide for discovering how to fix electronic devices minus the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work buddy after many years got great results with it.
Funny, I agree. I used to run a electronic store and hired even people from the military experience that could not troubleshoot even a very simple power supply. We were repairing 2 way radio equipment so ended up letting a lot of people go. I tried to help but didnt have time to train people as I was busy myself. Good video and content. Mike
THANKS! This is my story too!!! I was graduating long way back and I thought I was going to be able to repair anything like everything goes apart in a system. So I was happy but when I took a internship-job I did not undetstand how to troubleshoot. Just knew the basics measure the resistors and little about the transistorers, capacitors but just how they where built up etc etc . I just looked at a magazine to do a curcuit-bourd an car-alarm but did not know how that was function on a component-level and how they worked together to make a function. The school teach much but this they do not teach how to troubleshoot that much and it is very much theori that is important but also most important is to practice the theori. Many schools teach the same basics but not for the job out-there. It should be like at a job BUT in school, customers come in with faulty curcuit boards. Then the school can see for themself what is missing. Now I learned myself that is important along the way and pass by you. But when time passed by it came really hard to repair when it came to this new small components and it was JUST to switch the whole board. But still there is much you can repair. Much more than you think I think. You were never dumb just smart and consistent to continue your approach. Thanks for sharing the story..

I am an auto engineer, with the highest qualification I could get when I started. Theory is great, but you need to be able to take the theory and turn it into practical use. Unfortunately, these days, people are, in the main, only trained to be parts swappers, or board swappers if it is not obvious what is wrong. Your first interview highlights this, but you did the right thing by admitting you did not know and asked for the chance to find the answers. It is the willingness to find the answer that sets an engineer apart from those who just change a board, it is vital to know, not only what is wrong, but more importantly, why it went wrong and how to fix it that it does not break again. Every job should be an adventure, a learning experience, and remember that no one knows it all.

I'm graduated from a horrible school with my A.S degree in electronic engineering. And because of my mechanical background I was able to land a job but don't feel like a true electronic repair tech and I want to become the best I can be. I'm ready to learn a great to become great myself
Electronics is an everyday learning process. Technology evolve so fast and it’s changing so fast. I’m like you I didn’t know how to troubleshoot down to component level. Most of these days surface mount technology has become more and more sophisticated and hard to troubleshoot. You need to be really proficient in using high tech testing tools like oscilloscope and DMM. Until today am still learning to troubleshoot.
I'm not sure but ,if anyone else wants to uncover electronic repair tool kit try Saankramer Electronic Magazine System (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.
Really hope to see you back around on UA-cam. I know you can’t release your entire class here because that would defeat the purpose and impact you monetarily… But it would be great if you could upload some summary videos and stuff just basic troubleshooting things. Hope you are doing well

I’m 31 years old and currently going to school for electronics. My college offers both electronic technology certificate and associates degree. Which route would you go if you were me? I’m leaning towards certificate so I can gain skills ASAP and start gaining experience. What are your thoughts?
Depends on what you want to accomplish. If you had a dream job, what do they require? If they required a 2 yr degree, the. You’ll have to go get it. That’s how I look at it.
@@electronictech785 I work at a lumber yard and they have electricians instead of electronic techs. I think it would be more beneficial for them if they had electronic tech. What is your professional opinion about why they would have just electricians? I also ask this question because I want to go to school for this but I don’t want to change jobs. I like the people there and they have great benefits. I’m kinda embarrassed to ask them. If you have any advice to give me I would love to hear it.
Hey I have a elliptical the buttons on the console will randomly stop responding. I took it apart and once disconnecting either the buttons ribbon cables or the fan wires it will work again. But only to randomly do the same again. I cleaned the boards with alcohol there seems to be little bit of rust but I check for continuity without luck. Could it be a bad ground connection? Or is the circuit board building up static ? What causes this ?
I like your video so much. I am still learning electronics now. Can you share your techniques on findings the defective components step by step. in or out of the circuit. ramon from davao, philippines.

Hey Lou, this is pretty inspiring. I learned how to read and write schematics in the Marines, after that I took a semester of DC circuits. It was enough knowledge to help me get my ham radio technician license beyond the basics, I really struggle. I want to learn how to translate from the board and draw schematics, and then understand how it works.

you generally cannot check an ic without a data sheet or circuit diagram every ic is doing a different function however if you only have a meter here are some pointers firstly ask yourself why you suspect it might be faulty then visually inspect it to see if looks normal then with the equipment powered up put your finger on it to see if it feels hot if it does then use freezer spray on it to see if the fault clears ! do cold checks (ohms) from each pin to ground to see how many pins are shorted to ground only some of them should read to ground check the voltage on each pin this will be guess work though without a data sheet as some pins will have voltage and other pins will be used for data hope this helps
