    I like your video's appreciate you sharing your knowledge. What I would like to see is how to take a controller board with more than one load and diagnose why a specific load is not work. Tracing the contacts from the load until you find the fault using multimeter. These traces power this load, so we take our multimeter and we start testing from here to the load until we find the fault.

    this use to be my life ... I found that a curve-tracer with a scope set to XY mode, I would make the initial resistor/caps/diodes and transistor checks, they would be so much faster and less error prone. Once I was in zone, I could use other more detailed techniques - nice video - thanks

      You can buy the kits for about 30 bucks if you have access to a cheap old oscilloscope, or you can buy total self-contained unit including the screen for around 100. A little handheld module type thing I think. Curve tracers are definitely useful

    Wow loved the video thanks so much. Please let me know when you have more of them ! I didn't understand something seems to me that when checking diodes . Well a diode is nothing but a pn junction. Wouldn't you get a beep one direction and not in the other if in diode test on meter ? Also would this be the same for a transistor? Isn't a transistor like two diodes put together with another lead added. SO with a transistor you would have a Base to collector junction and a Base to emitter junction ? So would you got get a beep one direction on the base to collector but not if you reversed your leads ? The same should be on the Base to emitter junction ? I'm trying to understand with somethings I have learned in my past.

    • @electronictech785
      @electronictech785  4 роки тому +1

      You are correct. You will get a voltage diode drop on you meter when you place your red lead on the base and while you put your black lead on either the collector or emitter.

    • @Robert-jf5oi
      @Robert-jf5oi 3 роки тому

      No you should not get a continuity beep in one direction due to the forward resistance of the junction is normally higher ohms than what the beep would sound on the diode mode. However depending on the diode you should see a reading between 0.4-0.7V as the internal battery of the meter will cause the diode to conduct in one direction. Also a diode is a semiconductor just as a transistor is.

    Hi Lue, thanks for the overview . If you have a spare moment, it would be very kind if you can clear up a couple of details :
    17:25 - are you saying that even tho this transistor is reading a short, it's actually not shorted b/c it shows the same # of ohms as the resistor in its circuit ?
    23:10 - I know the red probe is on the voltage regulator's ground , but what is the black probe touching , & why (since it looks like 2 unconnected circuits) ?
