I'm an old scale model car guy from the mid and late '60's as a kid. I used Testor's brand spray cans back in those days. I also had to deal with a lot of "orange peel" as a result. Air brushing hadn't been developed for the scale modeler in those days. I totally skipped the sanding step b/c I didn't know it was necessary, for instance. Thanks for posting, from a subscriber.
I worked wih airbrushes since the 1960's and also taught classes to art students for many years. I also ran basic workshops on weekends for hobby artists. Paasche produces a couple of airbrush sand blasters. It can be so simple to use that tool to work on restoring medal models and also plastic ones... just a suggestion.
when you change colors for paint for the sprayer, do you have to clean it each time before the next color or do you have multiple tanks that you just switch out? In other words, ,my concern is if you don't use all the paint in the reservoir, is it wasted or somehow saved and used later? I hope that's clear. I assume one would get all the pieces needing the same color, paint all of those, then change the paint color for the next set. What if there is paint left in the reservoir, is that thrown out or is it saved somehow for the next model, next project?
@@Wannakatana2112 No always clean between each paint change and usually then you don't have any paint left you can add a little bit each time this way. but if you do it often then I know approximately what I need.
@@BananaSquare Hey, I have been using .6 for under coats and clears with really good results. Spraying Createx 4053 HG clear I can get results equal to 2K
Nice tutorial, fantastic result. Can I ask please, I've had several disasters previously due to inexperience having mixed 2 different products, noticed you used Tamiya lacquer with Mr Color thinner? I always stick with like for like 👍. Again fantastic finish on your project 👌
I believe that even though the video says “spray lacquer “ what he uses is Tamiya x22, which is an acrylic clear coat and not lacquer. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
The difference is in the drying time. This thinner ensures that your paint does not dry out quickly. so that your paint can flow better. And you can use Tamiya paint & Mr hobby

I just found your channel today 9/1/23. In looking at your list of items used i see some listed that are not shown. Are there other videos showing the rest of the building of this car? Also what is the car you are building?
Just thinking what with all these gadgets, it's a wonder someone hasn't come up with a mini paint mixer like the one in the paint store. Load it up and stand back while it shakes it.
The percentage of volume when weighing paint vs a thinner will not be very much. A 50/50 mix is only a rough guide anyway. Many variables like the room temperature, and the nozzle size of the airbrush will effect the coverage more so than the actual mix of paint, even 5 or 10% either way would be OK in different conditions, although 10% too much paint to thinner ratio may slightly be too much for most average conditions.
Yet another idiot who has never heard of a mute / volume switch!!! 🤣 There is no narration and the video is subtitled, and intelligent people would just mute or lower the volume. Any kind of simple logic or intelligent thought is clearly beyond the capacity of you tiny brain. 🙄

Wow! Fantastic job, thanks for the tutorial, I'm definitely getting an electronic scale, thats a game changer.
Graag gedaan !
I’m working on the same kit right now! ‘85 Camaro! But I wish it came with IROC decals for the nostalgia.
Nice to see someone else using a Colani! Best kept secret in airbrushes. Nice work!
Yes. Very few know about it's ease of use. What size nozzle do u use for model cars? 0.6 mm?

@kennethpickett718 thanks for sharing
a great helpful video. just wonder what you think is best for masking? What method did you use for the body when doing the black section on the roof?
Thanks for the video! When painting the blue, do you wait between layers? Or just go on until je like the color?
Nice tutorial there, filled with information and definitely helpful. Thanks for the share.
You welcome
Thank you for your time and sharing your work.
Don't mention it👍
wow superb nice job can i use vallejo poliuretane varnish replacement for laquer
Super thanks! You'll have to try it out, but I think it will work.
Wow Great video keep them coming

Yes Mr color leveling thinner works great with a wide assortment of different paints.

Have you wet sanded the clear coat? It looks pretty nice as it is. Do you polish?
sanded the ground layer wet as you show in the video and did not polish
Nice....love it ❤😊
THX 👍🏻
nice tutorial. Thank you. Which paint-filter do you use?👍
Looked like a standard one you get at the auto supply or house paint store
would you happen to know if you can use automotive polish over Vallejo paints, with or without a clear top coat?
with topcoad. otherwise you brush off again
Nice tutorial. Thanks for sharing.

I see you can buy a specific Aqueous thinner. What's the difference between that and the self levelling thinner?

What about sanding with 1000 grit if you have it? I found some on Amazon that I ordered a while back that was 1000 grit.
for me 3000 works but if you want 1000 use no problem.
Step 11 - polish clear coat?
No polish coat.
What do you think about the harbor freight airbrush
That's what I started with and it's nothing Mies, but what I use now is a very nice airbrush. easy to clean and good feeling with airbrush.

I have a Colani too. What was the nozzle size u use for this build?
Nozzel size 0.8 but I don't open the arm completely. is about half way, so you can compare it 0.4 / 0.5

Your result with Tamiya clear coat X-22 is amazing. I don't manage to obtain that amazing glossy finish. What are your secrets please ?
This could have various causes. You will have to try that yourself with some tests. That's how I taught myself.
That sky blue its a candy color?
No Mr hobby 25
What PSI do you use on airbrush for paint and clear?
That's a bit different what kind of needle you use. usually 1.5 / 2.0 bar
How did you paint the black part on the headlight area?
I just did it with a brush. 😉
👍👍
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe 🚗🚗👍👍🏃♀️🏃♀️

They probably have them there just expensive
They have :) it’s just expensive and not worth it
Badger makes one. 55 bucks I think
You mix 50/50 in weight, but it's not the same density, perhaps it's better to make it 50/50 volumes ?...
I don't think it really makes much difference. This works fine for me, I get a nice final result

painting didnt work for me the plastic started to melt
Melted the plastic? What brand of paint did you use? What kit did you spray? Could you give me a few details so I can help you out
what thinner and paint did you use?

You need a clear top coat to do that. Vallejo paint is water based.
