Hey David, something I've always wondered: Do you ever sit back at home and watch your own movies? I can imagine that after working on a single project like this for such a long time, you might lose interest in it yourself. Is that the case for you?
I will definitely watch and re-watch with a notepad and your bts video's on hand. Very educational and inspirational stuff! Thank you!

+Tim Schiphorst I can rewatch shorts but not Lights Out the movie. Since you work on a movie for so long and see it over and over and over again you already know every second of it by heart. Maybe if I let a few years pass I'll be able to sit down and watch Lights Out or Annabelle Creation.

I want to say something: THANKYOU for doing this! You are right! This is the only "Masterclass" on directing out there at the moment and you are perfect because you are funny and clever and you also still have to learn and that makes you very very likable and...this first advise from this video is the best and funniest advise I have ever got. You also show that you are able to direct a movie even when your not born in an English speaking country. So Thank you again and please don't stop making these kind of videos!

This series is without a doubt one of the best behind the scenes projects Ive ever seen. I started out as an elementary school kid wanting to make movies. Even though I was fortunate enough to have my first project in production be on an indie, low budget film that did really well nationally (In the Company of Men), I've found myself some 20 years later firmly seated in the world of video production. I'm grateful for the knowledge I've gained along the way, especially from the technical side of things but I'm ready to make the transition into film. which has always been my dream and goal. I took notice specifically to your style of directing and became immediately impressed with your organic approach. You have a way of letting things evolve around you and not letting ego get in the way when someone else "calls a shot."
I think I'm so impressed by your style because we're very similar in that regard. Not having worked any "Hollywood" sized movie productions I've feared that directing in way that isnt verbally buttoned down or initially super clear with explanations would be viewed as weak, even though you know what you're doing. Yet watching how you spoke with the actors, almost incompletely at times, I started to feel a real boost in confidence. I don't mean that in a negative way. I just know exactly what it feels like to have so much swirling in your mind that sometimes the words are hard to find. It's almost like communication through osmosis kicks in, and I'm truly happy to see the success and results of that style. So thank you for allowing us into your world. Thank you for your honesty and thank you for the motivation and confidence because in the end you made a damn good movie!!

Now I'm watching these clips and I just have to say you're a genius. I truly feel like you're quickly becoming on par with Wes Craven. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Very well done! Also, great to see your wife's cameo in the film!

Even though I was to late for the My Annabelle creation contest, I am taking a film class for my high school and i so super pumped for this class. so the videos really prepared me for this class. Hey David, I just watched your new Annabelle creation and I really liked it. I liked how you used a lot of elements from your shorts to design the scares in this movie, like the light bulb rotating, hallway stretching, and the sheets revealing nothing. I just wanted to say you're a real inspiration for smaller directors like me who don't come from the US, and your the living example of you don't need a huge budget or famous actors to make a good movie. PS: can't wait for your next film.

I have always been one of your biggest fan. But I have been preoccupied recently and been out of the net and tv. So I just watched Annabelle: Creation just yesterday and thought of you when I saw the scene in the barn/work house where the bulbs were being unscrewed one by one. I remember the attic panic short film you made. Then I only got the confirmation when I saw Lotta as well. And here I am today, checking on your channel to see what I've been missing for so many months haha
You did a great job on Annabelle! I am still looking forward for more short films as well.
