We're glad you like the TD450s! The microphone is there so car techs, or plumbers, electricians, etc... can talk their way through an inspection and tell their customers what they are looking at. Customers are more likely to pay a mechanic to fix a problem if they can see it with their own eyes. Microphones are included on all Teslong inspection cameras.
Great video . I'm a retired mechanic and boy would i have loved to have that camera back in the days.Techs these days are spoiled with all those diagnostic tools they can use.By the way the black deposits on the intake side of the intake valves is most likely from the EGR valve recycling exhaust gases to the burn chamber.(Normal)
Yeah... I can remember the days before battery power tools were even a practical thing. I'm only 46 ( I think ...) but I know what you mean. I worked on Yamaha and Polaris back in the 90 - 00s

This is an amazing tool... I can't even imagine having one of these back in the 90s when trying to diagnose an engine issue.... A compression test is great, but being able to actually look in there and see what's up... that's next level.
Yea I get it I’ve been working on cars boats n planes starting around 98 and I have 5 different cameras but I hate using the stupid mirrors and there not as clear of a camera as that.
@@shawnrinkel8377 Yeah, for sure... this one is way more clear than the Vevor one that I tested. A little more money, but very clear, and still not expensive.

That spark plug being loose makes me a bit concerned for the health of the cylinder head’s threads. With that plug loose it could’ve slowly knocked away the at aluminum threads. This happened to my Honda Fit. I had helicoil the spark plug for it to finally stay tight.
Fun little car ! I enjoy it a little to much every time I get in it.
The plug tightened up fine, but the concern about damaged threads is legit. I think the soot probably acted as a slight buffer, as the car has been driving around like that for probably 6-5 years... maybe more. I'm just glad I'm not the one who installed them, haha.

That is a sweet camera.👍👍 Nice having the ability to record sound, as I forget where I put shit all the time.🤔 but I didn't hear gradge. It's herd to get your orientation..😂😂 new plugs and a little sea foam.
Having the sound made it a little easier to sync the clips to my video, so that was nice. So hard to get your orientation. I hear that DI engines are bad for crap on the valves, as there's no incoming fuel to clean them off.
As for the intake valves, it's normal to get buildup on the intake valves in Direct Injected engines as the fuel doesn't wash them. I think at some point you should clean the carbon off of them, I don't know if Seafoam or some other product can be effectively used, or if you need to remove the intake manifold and clean them manually.

Haha... You've got it all figured out. They are both good pieces of kit. This one costs a little more, and you get quite a bit more for your money. I almost feel bad about getting this one dirty, where the other one is just going to sit in a drawer of my tool box.

Did the loose plug cause any damage to the threads in the head? Looks like it's been loose for a while!

It is very nice. The same company had some really high end stuff, from what I saw on their Amazon page...
The threads seem fine. I think it may have been protected from the ash, haha... and also because of the type of coil-on-plug it uses... it keeps some pressure on the plug and likely stopped it from going nuts.
Most people will tell you, a turbocharger shouldn't leak oil.
But that is not even true in theory - because there isn't an economic way to seal a sometimes red glowing shaft tightly. So they use hydrodynamic sealing and this isn't tight in every situation. It's only (maybe) really oil-tight, as long as the balance between both pressure levels is right - and that's a variable thing here.
So - i never met a dry boosted manifold in my life.
Not even the non turbo, but mechanical driven chargers on the Leopard One tank engine were ever dry - although they run cooler - because of lack of the exhaust-heated turbine section.
But obviously even these mechanical chargers can't be seales tight. Haven't worked on any other mechanical charger though, just turbochargers and the leo1 chain driven chargers.
To sum that up - a turbocharger isn't bad, just because there is oil leakage.
It is bad, when the oil leakage is too much.
There is one important thing to keep in mind:
You cannot test a turbocharger's leakage without backpressure!
A free blowing turbocharger will sprinkle it's surroundings with oil, even when it's a new one. The pressure balance is wrong in an open blow situation. No use to judge good/bad this way.
A very good turbocharger equals leakage with oil thinning - optically no oil consumption, but nevertheless wet manifold.
Next point is exhaust gas recirculation. With this comes exhaust soot and high temperature into the manifold - partly burns the leakage oil into carbon and this stuff builds up and has to be removed mechanically from time to time - because this spray-on stuff only removes a tiny bit at best, usually not worth the price nor the spent time.
Your manifold looks normal, no action to be taken.

The place she took it to wouldn't replace the spark plugs without replacing the ignition coils as well... I've never heard of that before, ever.
