3am in New Zealand, I’m in a panic studying for my neuroscience finals, but here I am, attempting to channel your success. I’ve had enough caffeine to knock a medium sized horse over. Send prayers. I’m so proud of you
the smile on your face whenever you talk about project teacup is so infectious, its clear how much you care for this world that you've created, and that you've put your heart and soul into, as you so eloquently stated, and whilst you might feel exhausted and burnt out now from so much work, I sincerely hope for you that it now gets published, as I'm sure it will, and that those of us who have been on the journey with you - whether it be from the very start, or more recently - will get to experience the wonder of it like you have, and smile in the same way that you have, with each page that we turn...
The parasocial relationships youtube brings about are always a fun thing to analyse, but I feel like I've never been so proud of someone in my life 😂❤ good job, I really hope this novel will see the light of day because I am so excited and happy for it and for you and I would love to support you by reading it. All the best!!
Good luck on submission, Christy! As another SJGA client, I was also pushing myself for a 2-month revision timeline before sub, but I ended up taking half a year. My friend told me that revision is such a luxury, and that no one reads a book and thinks, "Wow I wish this writer had spent /less/ time editing this book." I ended up selling in a week, and I do think it's because I took my time with revision and took it as far as I could. Your hard work will definitely pay off!
Christy, I JUST stumbled across your channel a couple hours ago and have been binge watching all your videos since. Its rare to come across a channel that is astetic, helpful, cozy, ect and your channel checked all the boxes :D I subscribed instantly.
I usually watch these writing vlogs on Sundays when they come out, and often I'm feeling lazy because it's my off day, and these vlogs always give me motivation to spend a little time on my writing projects. I'm really thankful for that, because I'll take any little chunk of time or progress.
If/when Project Teacup gets picked up by a publisher, I'm going to smash that pre-order button SO hard, which I encourage others to do as well if they're able to (or add it to your birthday/christmas wish-lists as a pre-order if your family does such things) because pre-orders actually really help the writer and publisher. 🌟⭐🌟Congratulations on finishing it! I'm crossing my fingers, toes and internal organs for you! Christy, with your love of Anthony Doerr's writing and your interest in Istanbul/Constantinople, I wondered if you've yet read Cloud Cuckoo Land? It's SO good, one of my favourite books of the year so far and one of the best books I've ever read. 💚🧡💚
Wow, Christy - I've been here right from the beginning of Project Teacup, and it's so insanely inspiring to see how far you've come! I'm genuinely so impressed, but not at all surprised that you've made it this far - it's so clear how much you love this project, and I really hope I can read it someday! :)
Congratulations on Draft 6 and getting to submit your book to your agent! We are all so incredibly excited for you and proud to see your journey; it's had a lot of struggles but YOU'VE MADE IT and it's a constant reminder that we can too! Enjoy your rest :) xx
I’m so happy I found your channel!! I’ve just started working on my novel again after taking a while away from it, and your vlogs are so inspiring for me! And I also love that you’re wearing a Sleep Token shirt omg! Several of their songs are on my novel playlist. I look forward to hearing more about PT and your journey!💕
Congratulations on your finished draft!!! I'm sure we've seen only a fraction of the struggle you put into writing this and you can be so proud that it is finally done. So much love to you. We will all be manifesting the best possible for this book!
I'm so excited for you, Christy! I've watched your channel ever since the beginning, and following your journey has been so motivating and heartwarming, from start to end!
Just found your channel today, I've been listening to your videos all day while doing things around the house. I just finished your video about finding an agent, thank you for sharing that story.
I’m so so happy for you, really! I’ve been here since you finished it last year back in August I think, and started querying it. I know it’s not a long time, it’s been less than a year but I’ve been watching every single one of your videos ever since, and seeing you work on this story over the past few months was really beautiful to watch. I wish you all the best and I really really hope that Project Tea Cup is published soon and that I finally get to read it!
I can’t wait to get my hands on this book. I know I will love it as much as your videos. your joy and excitement about this book is contagious. your writing advice and sharing your process inspires me endlessly, and your cozy vibes and aesthetic in your videos also bring me so much comfort and inspiration! 🥰🤎
Congratulations! I feel like Draft Six will be so rich for all you put into it. I fully support you stepping away and enjoying life without an audience - you deserve it. I hope your burnout is manageble, it's okay if it isn't, but I think you love to work, so I hope you can take a breath and dive into your next exciting project ✨
Hey no kidding. Im super close to finishing my own fantasy novel too! Im almost at 90k words and Im 2 chapters away from completing the first draft! Getting so excited that I managed to write 2,200 words during my writing session yesterday.
delighted that you've been able to spend some time away and visit your favorite country. wishing you all the best as you take time to refill your creative cup! 🫶
Congratulations on finishing Draft 6, Christy!! 🥳 That's so exciting! You have put so much work into it and clearly care about the project; I'm sure it's amazing and we'll all get to see it someday in a physical book format! 😊😉
I love gothic fantasy! Congratulations on finishing Draft 6! Best of luck on submission when you are ready! I hope we get to read it someday! It’s been really cool to follow your journey through all of these different writing vlogs! 🥰
omg, congratulations Christy!! Good job 🥰I have been following your channel since you had less than 100 subscribers, so seeing you succeeding in your dreams makes me so happy for you girl!! 🥳 I can't wait for the day I get a copy of your novel :')
watching the entire process of project teacup, I cannot wait to read this book. I really hope it gets publish soon. sending you lots of support and good vibes christy🤍
So happy to see your progress and excitement about project teacup, i can only imagine how amazing and refined it became, i wish you all the best with your publishing journey
I'm here too, Christy, sending prayers because I'm on the same journey - I'm now writing a science fiction novelette in Portuguese. I know how much work and suffering is involved in this. Love from London.
This is actually incredible timing because I'm also hauling it on finishing up the final draft of my book while in isolation 😅 and I also had been planning to finish it by April, so when I saw this video come out I was like yes! Motivation!
After I read the book (as I fully intend to), I would LOVE to see what you cut. Especially the alternate ending. If you'd be willing to share, I'm sure others would be interested too. Thank you for sharing your journey. You are an inspiration to me and I wish you the very best!
I’m so emotional 🥹 congrats on this huuuge milestone I really hope it gets published and we get a chance to read your words. What a journey it has been. Lots of love ❤
Your way of writing / editing is not ridiculous. I'm coaching writing in an academic setting and this is a common "writing type", whó often have dificutlies in editing. We always advise those types to take almost half of the entire time they have to work on a project to the editing process, since writing under time pressure is hard for this type. Maybe you want to look into these writing types and strategies to help, if it troubles you.
Saw TesseracT earlier this year, great live band. Congrats on finishing the book, just finished my final draft a couple of days ago. Thanks for the vids, it's like having a pal who gets the love / hate relationship when it comes to writing. Love from London.
Hey ! 'i've been following your vlog for a while bc i love writing with something on the background and this is the first time i post a comment. This video must be so meaningful for you. You did something so hard, i'm so happy for you ! I just know that someday i'll see your book on the library shelves and i won't hesitate to buy it, can't wait !
I've been feeling the same way about a commissioned painting. It's been months and I hoped to finish it in March or April, then it was May... So I spent last 10 days in crunch mode and now it's finally almost ready. Still not sure though when it's really all done 😅 For me, crunch mode brought me to burnout and more severe forms of neglecting my health, so I'm more sensitive now and I really try to protect my boundaries. But I have the same kind of brain as you, sometimes there is so much drive, it's hard to let loose and listen to my body. I hope you can crunch without losing yourself in it ❤❤❤
I always have to put off watching your videos because it always inspires me to get back to my own writing projects and if it's the middle of the work day... well you know how it feels to want to work on something else ;) so many other sweet comments here so I will just say yayyy draft 6! Congratulations!! I would love to see the ways you refill your 'creative well' if you choose to share with youtube. Either way, can't wait to see how Project Teacup goes from here and congrats again :))))
I'm here for you! In similar crunch mode, working on my database that I thought was finished before I can write the most important chapter of my thesis 😵💫
Congratulations on finishing your novel! That is huge and I know it is a lot of work. Your book sounds fascinating - I love the 1920s and fantasy novels, so count me in when it gets published :) I noticed that you print out and bind your drafts - I would love it if you would share more about your editing process (if that is of interest). Take care, and I hope everything goes well with your agent (hopefully this is the last edit).
These videos are such a good balance of cozy and also very real lol. Apologies if you've mentioned this before, but did you pay to do an edit/manuscript eval before you started submitting to agents?
I know what you mean about having to throw chapters in the bin or rewrite them so much they become unrecognizable. I'm re-writing a novel and I discarded nearly 40k words and wrote an additional God knows how many words...
Have you ever had an idea for a character that will just not go away but don't have a fully formed story to write this character into? How do you park it with notes without losing the complexity of the character with passing time.
I'm also a chronic re-writer when I'm revising!! 🤣 It's definitely not the most productive way to revise, but I simply cannot snap out of it, but, hey, whatever works haha! I believe you recently read Daphne duMaurier’s Rebecca and I read that she lost a whole draft of the book which included a horse and hound fox hunt and a suicide scene taking some sort of toxic paint that gave her a sort of waking dream of tar being shoveld down her throat. At least that's what I recall. She must have left an account of the lost draft. Sometimes, don't we wish we could peruse drafts of our favorite books. I remember going on a watch-binge when I found Christy's channel years ago.
I thought she was so beautiful and also loved the content….. loved the aesthetics and literary content
Quite LITERALLY the only writer on UA-cam worth watching in my opinion. Videos are always enjoyable no matter the subject👌🏾👌🏾

love a good magical post office
I can not wait for the moment we get to preorder project teacup
Your writing and editing routine is strikingly similar to mine! It gives me hope when I query later this year!
We've been part of your journey too. We're so proud of you ❤

I can’t wait to read you book❤❤❤
Hell yeah for Tesseract
Thank you for coming to Japan!( from one of your UA-cam channel Japanese subscribers 😊)
Congratulations!! Sidenote: what red lipstick are you wearing? It looks so good on you ❣️
Congratulations!!
Have you ever had an idea for a character that will just not go away but don't have a fully formed story to write this character into? How do you park it with notes without losing the complexity of the character with passing time.
I was at that Polyphia show too!!! That's so funny 😅 ❤
Well done on finishing draft 6the book !! 🎉🥳
Yay!!!!
I'm also a chronic re-writer when I'm revising!! 🤣 It's definitely not the most productive way to revise, but I simply cannot snap out of it, but, hey, whatever works haha! Why do you think this is the way that works for your revision process? For me, I think it's because it helps me really immerse myself in the scene or chapter I'm working on.
Do you use a chart or timeline to have a graphical representation of the story and give you some reference of where you are in the story?
Well done 💛
Christy Anne Jones Thank you very much!
Writing is rewriting. When you spoke about a chapter late in the book that was having a rewrite as the location had changed, I thought of Jane Austen's cancelled chapter to Persuasion which we can still read today. I bet if I rewrite this comment I could make it better but.. nah this is already a second draft. I guess in Austen's case her brother or someone thought the cancelled chapter was pretty interesting and published it in an afterward. Well that's me being chatty this Sunday morning. Thanks for sharing your ongoing project teacup journey.
Hi Christy Anne! I was wondering if you had tips for starting writing. I have the idea, the plot, the characters, but I can't seem to get writing. Would you have any tips?
Ooohhhh I can’t wait for more Japan content. Would you and your partner ever move back to Japan to live?
Just sunk in, your comment about you could edit a paragraph down by 30% word by word which takes a lot of time, or you can just rewrite the whole paragraph. Faster. I'm thinking maybe fresher. Anyway just appreciate your sharing this. "Develop", word by word changes or "evolve" entire rewrite.
I edit my PhD dissertation the exact same way, and I agree about it's ridiculousness. But I can't stop!
Congrats one question I have please do you do a draft for every chapter ?
Congrats! Also, did you print out your editing draft in 2 column format? Is it a personal preference? Or just to save on paper?
Just to save paper 😊
This is so random, but may I know what kind of keyboard you're using? It's oddly calming for me.
And congratulations on your progress with your book! I've been a silent follower since April and you inspire me to write again. more power to you!
