My only theory is that either something's gone really wrong that it ended up being more difficult than they thought or it's gone really right and they're adding a lot of new stuff to it. I don't really think this silence has something to do with Eiyuden anymore cuz it's right around the corner.
I agree with that. It's the only thing that makes sense. If they were strictly going on "timing", the most profitable way to release it is while fans are waiting for Eiyuden Chronicles, using that anticipation to get gamers to snatch up the closest thing there is: Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster.
Since their marketing dept hasn't done this, the most logical explanation is yours.
Well any company that decides they can leave me hanging without news for a year... Would mean I would leave them to dry in the sun like neclord for a whole month until I finish eiyuden first and then watch the price drop rapidly to get my cash. Anyone at the point that you wait enough that you just had enough? 😂

@@Callisto_Arcas There is a possibility they are waiting until the Eiyuden hype is over to release it. The Suikoden remaster was only likely to sell to people who played the original, but now there might be a new market of Eiyuden players who want to try its 'source material' remastered.
Honestly I assumed it had to do with the creator quickly getting sicker and then dying. They knew he was sick and declining quickly long before it happened. I'm sure they have taken a grieving period. And on top of that there could be some issues regarding licensing after his death and transfer of some things.
We are on the same page Kali. The only thing I do know for sure; which was confirmed was Yoshitaka Murayama was involved behind the scenes. w/o being involved. The legend confirmed that himself a year ago lol. Stating he was helping his good friend the director Sakiyama with it. As you said all we can do is wait. You make a great point. I've beaten the 1st Suikoden at least 3 times, and Suikoden 2 more times than I can remember. I'm eagerly waiting for the remasters, but I'm also ready for a new adventure.

They said at TGS when they presented that they had only just begun to work on the project, and since they are essentially remaking the game with all new visual and audio assets in a new engine I expected a delay.

Still a bit weird that they announced a release year if they had only just begun work. But I would rather they wait until its ready to go then release something with bugs or other issues.

@AutumnSteven I think they under estimated the work it would take and I think the problems they have been having with the MGS Master Collection have made them a lot more cautious.

I think this year is realistic for the game to release but who knows, might fall into next year. Would be surprised however if it’d take longer than that.

this remaster is going to be an instant pre-order or purchase whatever it ends up being for me. I want to spend the next three months, playing Eiyuden Chronicle, and suikoden 1 and 2

Just found your channel as I was looking for something on this topic.
I also believe that Konami is waiting to not steal Eiyuden’s thunder.
They might wait 1-2 months after Eiyuden’s release before they say anything out of respect and since the char designer for Eiyuden also worked or works on the remasters, I’d even go as far as saying that Konami and Rabbit & Bear have talked about this internally.
If you don’t wanna wait and need something to scratch the itch, there’s a game that’s been flying under the radar.
There’s only one review out from I dream of indie. The game is called Terra Memoria.
It’s very much in the vein of Suikoden and I enjoyed my time with it very much.
I finally 100%ed Rising today and tonight I’ll start the Eiyuden backer beta with that save file. :D

I think it's coming eventually. While it is disappointing we haven't heard anything regarding an update since last year regarding these remasters, I think they're well underway. It's possible they may just be delaying the release until after Eiyuden Chronicles releases. Just a matter of when, not if.

I think we'll hear something either on Playstation's next presentation or around Summer Games Fest. They seem to be letting Sony do the heavy lifting for MGS Delta and maybe it's the same here

I'm currently loving playing through eiyuden chronicles and I'm wondering if this remaster would be a similar experience? I've never played a suikoden game before but love jrpgs in general
I'm kinda happy that I can focus on Eiyuden Chronicles for a while before diving back into the remakes of 1 and 2. I'm just rooting for success for these projects because I really want re-releases of the whole series. I never played 4 or 5, and I'd love to play through Suikoden 3 again.
Maybe they're looking for another developer to outsource some of the work to. We don't know the extent of how unsatisfactory the game was, so it's possible it requires a LOT of polishing. Silent Hill 2 has Bloober and the MGS3 remake is (rumored to be) outsourced to a studio called Virtuous, at least in part. I don't *think* Suikoden has been outsourced yet, so that means it's being run by their small gaming division, the same one that does all their totally awesome not lame pachinko machines.
My best guesses are a) they're putting Suiko on the backburner while they get some of their other big titles (SH2, Silent Hill F, and MGS3Δ) or b) looking for another dev to take over/assist since they bit off more than they can chew. Hate to say it but I expect some more radio silence until some of their bigger projects are close to completion, or we get news that they're partnering up with someone (hopefully not bad) lol.
Or ya know, it's just more of Konami kinda suckin' ass. 🤡

No Promotion of the Remaster means less Costs. But in Japan the Death is a really seroius Thing , also as Respect. So enjoy Eiyuden chronicle hundred heroes and hope Konami will give us Relase Date a free Weeks after Eiyuden performed well.

Can’t wait to play these. Or rather, I can wait. Haha. I may playthrough the Saturn version of the first game. I started playing the Saturn version of vandal hearts recently and it’s really really cool. But there are plenty of games out there to fill the gaps.

It's baffling to be sure, esp since I thought when EC was about out they would start to ramp up info again, but its been silent since the delay, my guess would be the glitches that plagued the ogs are causing probs, but I have a sinking feeling it will be cancelled since we havent heard anything else since then
Maybe Murayama had more input on these remasters than we thought, and his passing effected it a bigger way. Either way, Konami is losing us here.

That would be terrible, but I'm optimistic they will still happen :)
I think it's a combination of two things. I think the passing of Murayama would always have had a small effect on it. They're still human beings. And I think the scope of the project has bloated over time and they've ended up creating more work for themselves than they realized at first.
I wonder how Eiyuden is selling… the review scores were lower than expected, and it was actually hard to find it on the PSN store… I didn’t see it listed in the new games section, and I didn’t see a pre-order for it. Might not have even noticed if I wasn’t going out of my way to look for it
Me too, I truly hope that it sells well enough for a sequel. This series definitely deserves a second chance
yeah brother! Respect! I can only hope and pray that right after Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes is out, that Konami will drop the Suikoden Remasters afterwards. I really want to play them, and so do my friends who are fans of the series wants me to try them. Please Konami, out of respect for Murayama, Rabbit and Bear and the entire Suikoden community. Please make sure you drop it or know that you have been working on it.
I think they might be waiting for Eiyuden to come out and nah man I don't agree Konami should not be promoting the HD remasters now. Let Eiyuden get their shine with respect to the creator and let them get their shine. We may not ever get anything more from Eiyuden or another Suikoden spiritual successor after this. After it's released Konami bombard us with the HD remake of Suikoden promotion.

i preordered 3 copies. one to play and 2 to frame and put on my wall. i waited to play suikoden II for about 20y now. could have played it on emulator for ages but wanted the satisfaction of having all stars and getting gremio back and start II with a perfect save. if you love a game u want it fysicala at least i do
They did the exact same thing with Final Fantasy pixel they didn’t give any updates or anything about it then it finally came out for Nintendo switch. I just really hope it’s the same situation with. Suikoden 1&2 I grew up playing these games and they’re my favorite. I have money put aside just to buy this game. I just really hope I can play it again also if this turns out really well hopefully they make the rest of them three through five.

I played Suikoden 3,4 and 5 back in the mid 2000's. I'm not sure if Suikoden 1 and 2 ever released in the UK/Europe but I never got to play them. Would of been nice to play them before Eiyuden Chronicles comes out
Playing 2 right now and it absolutely blows 3-5 out of the water. There's a reason it's unanimously considered the best in the series.
I really have a feeling that some of these updates have been postponed after seeing how spectacular Octopath 2 and Star Ocean 2 have looked.

So went down rabbit trails but found 3 things, play Asia has listings as most likely place holders, 2nd is found (grain of salt) someone on the internet said Q2 2024 so April-June and then conf I saw online that the original creator died for suikoden 2 and the guy behind rabbit and bear studios for Eiyuden chronicles so most likely they are waiting til after Eiyuden launch to announce out of respect of the awesome creator
Knowing Konami they probably dropped support for it.

I agree with you; they will wait until after Eiyuden Chronicle drops. I'd guess an early summer release, most likely. Honestly, being neck-deep in FFVII Rebirth right now, and Eiyuden Chronicles coming out in less than a month? I can wait.

As much as I love Suikoden, I definitely would like the HD remaster to be polished and whatever hiccups it might have on the original, I hope they removed it by then. On the flip side of things, the success of this remaster will partially catapult the franchise if they will do Suikoden 3 to 5 as remasters/remakes or if they will ever do Suikoden 6(?). However, I do agree that Konami should at least update its fanbase if they want this to stick like glue. The transparency of the developers regarding Eiyuden Chronicles was spot on that I was not that worried if the game will come out or not. On the other front, I am so excited for Eiyuden Chronicles! Damn, less than a month away and I haven't been this hyped for a game ever since Xenoblade 3 came out :D
Hopefully, theyre already working on 3 4 5 remasters so we can get a steady release of them before they surprise us with 6 and i fall apart in joy.... 😅
I'm going to call out Konami for their lack of communication regarding this remaster. It was announced in 2022 and people were rightfully fired up. They said the game was going to come out sometime in 2023, but when August of last year came Konami said it would be delayed until an unknown date. That's it. I don't know what the cause of the delay is here, but people want to hear SOMETHING. Come on Konami, this is unacceptable!

I get the gut feeling that konami has been very stingy with their budgets to the teams working on both these remakes and Silent Hill 2's. It's what they've done in the past and it's kinda funny that we haven't really heard anything from these highly anticipated remakes.
I have no faith in that company. I will be there the moment they have the game to sale. But it’s not what I am hype for, I am all in for 100 hero’s and hope it gives me more of these type of RPG’s to play for the next 20-30 years

i dunno whats worse, suikoden has no hint of a release date yet, or after eiyuden got pushed back a month after its release (thanks nintendo). yes i know it came out on time for ps and xbox. with that being said. im betting that it will come out after switch 2 comes out.
I just hope that this silence is not because Konami is moving all its resources to the Silent Hill 2 Remake development.
I want to believe that they saw the "nitpicks" some people had with the UI, the sprites, etc and they are working hard in improving them.
It's baffling to me that we have studios that get into this situation and think that relaying information to their community should be handled in the same way as Hytale.

We're probably gonna get the third Final Fantasy VII remake before they toss Suikoden 1 & 2 on Steam.

Out of respect of the original creators recent passing (eiyuden being his swan song)
Konami is taking a temporary step back to allow eiyuden to stand on it's own feet and get some play from the fans before releasing the remasters.

We are in May 2024...Eiyuden has been out. Eiyuden has been getting patches. Still no updates about the remasters. I truly don't think Konami cares.

I think some companies maybe even Konami are waiting on the new switch to release. So they can be one of the firsts on the new console. As switch sells games. It's still the highest selling console of all time.

I remember this originally being planned for 2023 release but then it got delayed which means we as fans can logically deduce that Nintendo paid konami several hundred million dollars to avoid releasing it the same year as zelda so Nintendo had a chance at GOTY
Larian also probably paid konami a minimum of 100 million dollars to not release the game because larian knew what we all know that any year Suikoden releases no one else has even a chance at winning any game of the year awards.
