Saying Bob's Werewolf form is "Okay" is an understatement. If anything, the Werewolf form has the highest stats in the game because it increases them to 300%. At around level 60 and with maxed up level 16 weapon and 3x fire emblems, his Werewolf form does 800 damage normal attack and pair it up with Berserk and Double beat, he's going to do 1,000x2 every turn.
Nanami with double attack rune and fury rune is by far the best character in game to me. It can attack up to 6 times with insane power, often ending the battle herself in one turn.
Poor Tuta , I have set him up to be auto regening with mega medicines and mother earth on his weapon and the flowing rune , only because I like to create unique rune combinations on every character
This is the best Suikoden 2 analysis I have known so far. Your objectivity in evaluating the characters is just on point, mate. I do not always go with the strongest characters, though. I always pick the best looking (Flik, Camus, Miklotov, Lorelai, Sierra, Rina) and the ones with the coolest looks (Killey, Clive, Pesmerga)
@@karlo9572. I always pick Valeria. I don't use any of them, but in War Battles Kasumi is nearly useless while Valeria is a beast. The ninjas are easily gotten anyway.
Good list but I think for Casters you missed affinities. So Millie is a great mage for example as she has 40% more damage with Fire and Lightning. Rina on the other hand has only normal damage for all of the damaging spell runes. For physical attackers 3 open rune slots is just better than 2 so I think you overvalued many physical attackers with good stat growth as they'll get outclassed damagewise.
Yeah, Sheena and Kahn are two characters that I was surprised at ranking them lower. They both have three rune slots and even Kahn with the Double Beat/Strike Fury combo is going to hit harder than a lot of other characters and has about the same str as Chaco.
@@equipbasicsword Kahn can hit hard, yes, but he can't hit often. That is because his fixed weapon rune lowers his hit% by 15% which hurts him quite a bit and I'd rather build any other 3 slot character.
@@jm2270 My point was more that he has three rune slots, so I would pick him over Viktor for example. Characters with three rune slots just have a natural advantage over those who don't at least when it comes down to the physical runes.
@@mattstorage7805 There's still characters like Mazus and Luc who are better. Millie is definitely A tier though but you wouldn't know it if you didn't know about affinities. I don't think the ranking was out of malice.
Soon we can all enjoy the HD remaster and do it all over again :D great list btw. Only issue I have is the fact that both kasumi and valeria are hot af so I can never decide....whyyyyy????? xD
Trying to remember, but I know I made it a point to bring Hix and Tengaar along, plus Kasumi. I feel like I'm due for a replay, but might try a lower-tier build (monsters? Viki? hmmm). Because Flik and Victor were required in Suikoden 1 (in the front row!), I know I made it a point to use them as little as possible. Great video. I forgot about half of these characters!
cheers for even attempting this ^^ some things i wanna address though: command runes and unites (as well as magic) suck compared to auto-attacking in Suikoden 2, not only because they are slower to use but also because you don't get multi-attacks, (regular) critical hits, and iirc they don't factor in weapon runes (rage/thunder runes being an additional 50% elemental damage per normal attack) - Gantetsu is not low tier, one of the few characters w/ 3 rune slots, the worst one of them but still top 10 material - Kinnison isn't low tier, he's really good and 1 of the best 2-slot characters - same goes for Tsai - Millie isn't low tier, one of the weaker 2-slotters but any character that has 2 rune slots is automatically top half of the roster - Nina, 2 slots, solid - Ayda is NOT lower mid, one of the very best 2-slot characters, top 15 - same goes for Futch, almost as good as Ayda - Sierra is not lower mid, 2 rune slots, solid - Lorelei is not #31, top 15 - Hai Yo is not #24, he's the weakest of the top 6 but he's still top 6 if Luc isn't used w/ the kindness rune glitch (= giving him 999 ATK, making him the best character) - none of the 1-slot characters is anywhere close to top tier, Georg being the best but still can't compete w/ the top 15 - defense stats aren't relevant, a decent party will kill enemies in 1 turn, before they even act
The thing about 3 Slot characters is that yes, they usually have a higher damage cap as well as slightly more utillity if they're fully kitted out. However that's only if you bother to kit them out. The first Double-Strike and Double-Beat runes are free so you'll always have one ace - which is incidentlly as many as you need. If you want redundant damage, well then have farming a 2% drop rate. Clives and Viktors, and Valeria's, etc, are all high tier characters because they do their jobs effectively with almost no investment at all.
@@trinketmage8145 since this is a tier list, the relevant thing is what characters are capable of doing at their max potential do you NEED a full party of 3-slot characters? absolutely not, even a party of 6 2-slot characters is overkill (3 fast ones might be enough to 1-turn the majority of battles) but still, a character like Ayda (2 slots, and good stats to get the most out of multi-hitting w/ a decent crit chance) will always be a better party member than Valeria (using her command rune), if you set her up appropriately, same goes for other 2-slot characters w/ similar potential (Kinnison, Futch, Lorelei, ...), there's a good number to choose from too Double Beat and Double Strike runes are not that hard to get, you only need 6 of each (i like to get more though, to make switching between characters easier) Fury Runes are a bit harder to get, but you only really need one for each 3-slot character you plan on having in your party grinding Rage / Thunder runes to put into weapon slots is optional, i'd only bother when planning to down the harder bosses in 1 turn w/ non-top-tier characters Suikoden 2 really is as simple as that: a little bit of grinding, then speed though all battles by auto-attacking your way to victory ^^
@@IczR1 I guess the first sentence is where we disagree then. The Valeria VS Ayda argument contextualizes perfectly. With Ayda, you need to go out of your way multiple time to even recruit her, let alone equip her, so her maximum potential is gatekept by tedium. With Valeria you get the choice between her and Kasumi at very close to their full power for free. At a leisurely pace the game takes what, 20 hours to complete? And farming for a 2% drop can take two hours, or a whopping 10% of that. What's even the point of spending two hours farmining if your big dick number chracters and hot tiddy comand rune users are already steamrolling everything?
@@IczR1 Suppose there was a hypothetical character that always went first, and always dealt a bajillion damage to every enemy on screen. Now suppuse to recruit this character you first needed every other character to reach level 99. Would she be God tier or trash?
@@trinketmage8145 thing is, a character like Ayda would already be better than a command rune user the moment you give them a Double Beat rune + a common elemental rune in the weapon slot, because multi-hits and crits are a thing, esp. w/ above average stats, and there's bonus elemental damage every hit Double Beat runes you pretty much get during the first hour of the game, and you fight 6 of the enemy that drop it at a time, so the chance of getting one per fight (which is quick) is much higher than 2% and elemental runes to put in the weapon are common, doesn't have to be Rage / Thunder runes, common ones still add 25% damage per hit Double Strike runes can be farmed in Kobold Forest, still pretty early, and probably less work for the majority of people than recruiting all the kobolds ^^ (which is much less beneficial too) all that is NO comparison to the hypothetical example you gave ^^ there actually is a character like that, somewhat, Luc, who would hypothetically be the best character if you abuse a glitch w/ the Kindness rune (making his ATK 999), but this needs to be maintained and is a bit of work so i'd put him as a wildcard (like i would an extremely skill-based character w/ potential that not many people could tap into), and would at least mention this when doing a tier list, because, believe it or not, some people WOULD try and do this ^^ fully exploring a game you love w/ all it's mechanics is not a bad thing, i'd actually encourage people to try everything out for themselves, at the end of the day it gives you more options to enjoy the game Ayda is easy to get iyam, and why wouldn't you recruit her, getting all 108 stars is a major draw of the game, gotta catch them all! plus she comes w/ Feather, 2 in 1 go! and it doesn't need to be Ayda specifically, like i said there's a sizable number of good characters to choose from, e.g. Kinnison, or Eilie and Rina, who you get easily and super-early Valeria or Kasumi is actually a tough choice iyam, half of the players might not even choose Valeria (i didn't until my 2nd run) and i'd say the game is more about 50h long at a leisurely pace, Suikoden 1 is close to 20h, maybe you're thinking of that?
The characters in the tier list is ONLY the characters you can use in battle.. there are also characters that you use in war (strategy mode) and there are characters who opened up shop & minigames in your base
Oh definitely you should probably take him and Luc but I like Luc so I might be biased but throw on the blue gate rune and his pale palace cleans house
@@jonmcknight18. Luc in Greenhill is so unnecessary, he only makes the area more tedious. It's easier to just hit the auto battle button to clear the mobs than to wait Luc's animation to finish in every battle.
My end party so simple. Rikimaru+Amada unite attack Kinnison+Shiro unite attack Hero (focus on support so i attached water and eart rune) Luc (focus on attack rune so i attached fire, lighting and wind)
For me; All playable characters units are the best as long as they got extra rune slot for *Double Beat Rune* ; This Rune is the farmable in early game as well
Yeah,, as a player on early game, i’m patiently farm Double Beat Rune at North Sparrow Pass, it takes 2 hours to collect (at least 5 Double Beat Rune) from Rabbit opponent’s
I’m ashamed to say I’m seeing some of these characters for the very first time 😂 didn’t know a lot of them even existed. One of the best games though. Loved it. Still have it stashed away somewhere at home.
Its actually kinda crazy how op the hero is in the game. It was so fun playung this game the first time and feeling like my main charecter was unstoppable
I remember having flik in my end game team for Suikoden 2 when I first played it. (Granted I didn't get all of the characters) so I'm planning on going through it again with the save data of Suikoden before I go again.
I prefer to bring unique characters rather than strong ones. But this is a good video that tells us which characters have good potential. But I always leveling up all of them tho 😂
Most of these are spot on but Zamza with fire sealing on should at least be upper mid tier, the double damage and unlimited rune use for first half of game is pretty stout.
at last! some ppls who value Zamza!!! idk, based on his design and movesets he's just so nice to watch and use! not quite overpowered, still gives us the challenge lol! i mostly used him as my front row hitter. my setup was likely the same. Zamza, Vincent, Oulan (man i love this girl!) Kahn, Simone, MC
I just finished the game again yesterday after so many years. Camus, Georg, Hix, Tengaar and McDohl was my party at the end. I didn't use rune attacks by the end because I liked seeing the high attack damage from having friendship, fury and double beat runes lol.
In my opinions, the characters that have to be in the god tiers are: 1. Kahn -> Strong attack and runes 2. Bob -> Werewolf + double attack + berserk mode are unbeaten, especially when critical attack appears 3. Killey -> strong double attack + double beat + berserk 4. Humphrey -> strong tank, great defense and HP 5. Georg -> strong tank + great attack 6. Pesmerga -> high attack + high defend 7. Gijimu -> an underrated character which also has the same characteristic as killey Cmiiw. Based on personal experience, was beating the final boss without using too much runes unless there was dying character. 😇 On the third turn, Bob alone killed the final boss' rune at his werewolf mode + berserk 😅
I used Bob recently for a play through. Never knew he had an affinity for the darkness rune. Slapped that on him and he became an effective back row magic user
surprisingly for me , the best character if we include glitch , is Rina , when she joins at level 19 , we can bring her to matilda to get 3 rune slots , then when kobold has been unlocked , we can get double beat , double strike , and fury on her , with kindness rune minus affection get her to 999 attack (kill her 10 times with fire lizard) she can solo every boss starting from our first castle , minus the double strike rune every first time characters you recruit before fall of muse can get to lv 80 and every lv 20-29 character after that can get to level 64-68 before we recruit matilda knights
@@locloudanerpgtbh im amazed you can make this vid without knowing the glitch 😂 i even know that glitch in my first gameplay where internet wasnt that common. Just by my rpg instinct No wonder mostly i disagree with the list. In the video you said phys wins over magic but you put mages that has locked runeslot in the high tier 😅 Edit: oh btw, all the animal chars are great early game. Shiro for example. Their natural STR are high. In the late game tho, they are trash simply because they dont have weapons. No extra STR and no weapon rune. It means alot if you can deal 7k (crit) per hit (means 3,5k extra dmg) Since this is an old video, i really appreciate the content but maybeeee try to understand the game better since you are making tier list based on their usefulness
Like when there are so many awesome characters and u just have 6 spots on the party :v . BTW cant wait to try out Eiyuden Hundred Heroes, we are almost theeere just 5 days left 🤩
When I was younger and played this game back when it was new I knew nothing about stats, strategy, rune synergy or any of that. I saw Bob and said that dude's going to be on my team until the end of the game, and he was 😂
My endgame list - Front Row 1. Hero - all round best 2. Pesmerga - Magic and damage dealer (especially with darkness rune suit him well 🥰) with high defense if use best equipment 3. George - Tank with high defense if use best equipment also damage dealer - Back Row 4. Mcdohl - all round best 5. Mazus - best magic dealer with 3 open rune (best for advanced rune combo like rage and thunder and pale gate also) also his last MP rune is twice 6. Kahn, why Kahn? with 3 open rune and best with his resurrection rune, also he is magic and damage dealer especially when critical hits he use his trident from his coat 😱
Viktor is God Tier until late game when he really starts to fall flat stat wise. Suikoden 1 he was not that great. He had horrible accuracy and is really unusuable without the clone rune. I hated being forced to use him since I then had to choose between Pesmerga and others for my 3rd frontliner.
I feel like giving bonus points to useful characters in war battles should be included in this list. Some of the characters who are in the lower tiers could easily be elevated because of what they can do in the war battles.
George Prime my absolute favourite suikoden character . He is probably by far the best melee fighter who ever existed in suikoden history. But although absloutely op in melee his cryptonite is magic which makes him so balanced after all.
I always love seeing Suikoden content! This is useful as I've only played 2 once, when it came out on the PSN. Are you planning on doing the other 3 games? I would especially like to see one on S3.
I always go with Nina and Flik to the final battle because their combo attack is one of the best in the game xD (also, she has a very good defense. At least she never dies when is in my party) Luc tho... he dies very quickly. I like his powers (and him hahaha), but it's very difficult to place and to use (he's a mage, but he is uppfront, so you have to choose between making him use magic all the time or just die xD!) My final team is always: Riou, Tir, Flik, Camus, Miklotov and Nina. That way I can use all of their combos (4 in total, using Nina-Flik when Miklotov is unbalance and viceversa) and their runes (I find Camus' rune one of the best :_D)
Luc is useless for physical Attacks. You can just let him defend and do nothing. But he shines in boss fights with his powerful magic. Put him in the back and wait until boss fights.
My boy Zamza will mop the floor of all bosses in the game because of his magic, very reliable mage, so for me he belong to much higher tier on may list. But agree with majority of your list.
- Nina is one of my favourite character in Suikoden 2, tbh (also with Sierra and Karen) - Sierra could be put in back row and focus on her rune - I give Karen earth-based rune and combining with her own rune
I fully admit that I passed up on Valeria because well, Kasumi (and you get the other ninjas sooner this way). My end game team was Riou(Hero)/Victor/Flik/Mazus/Clive/Eilie. I know Rina's better, but I always had Eilie in my party instead when possible since I just liked her as a character (and still do, of course), lol.
Thinking back, I believe when it comes to Mazus, he actually IS the very last character you can recruit because his recruitment requirement is that you have the other 107 characters.
I don't think it is bro. I had other characters to get after him. That mukumuku was my last character. Could never find him until I randomly looked behind a tree one day 😂
Not really. I think it doesn't matter if you have 108+ characters. What really matters is you have 102+ Stars of Destiny (those heroes in the tablet, behind Luc in the castle), and have liberated Greenhill/Muse...
Front line: George, humphry, Persmaga? Back row: hero, usually two mages( usually Tengar and one other.). It's been so long since I made it to end game it's hard to remember lol.
i had no idea Kinnison and Millie wete such bad characters, theyre my late game picks with Flik, and Camus, and Sierra. Didnt really struggle with winning so maybe its more preference than anything else
I find killye is the real bastard on this game, im using the stone bug on him and invest the time to grind him up, and the rest is history, he end the boss fight in one turn, and make any party member that i invest and spend lot of time to grinding them (valeria and sheena) is become useless, cause killey getting the first turn to attack means no one having their turn.
Ah, the age-old debate among Suikoden II fans! 🌟 Crafting a tier list is always a challenge with such a diverse cast of characters, each with their own strengths and quirks. I'd love to hear your thoughts on who tops the list and why. It's the unique strategies and personal experiences that make these discussions so enriching. Let's dive into the analysis and celebrate the depth of Suikoden II's roster! 🎮🏆
The squirels deserve a higher tier... Crazy strong at high leves, fast and their unite atack can one shot bosses. Kinda funny making Luca Blight flying away from battle
Victor, Sheena, Eillie, Nanami, Shiro and Luc were my favorite characters. Victor, Sheena and Luc don't need an explanation. We all know why they are there. I know Shiro is not that strong, but I love him. He opens all the runes really soon, and since you don't have to buy him weapons and sharp them, you can save a lot of money to spend it on other characters. Eillie is a mediocre wizard, but I love her interactions with the main character. So I bring her just for fun.
You got some of these totally wrong. Shiro, you get him super early and his strength stat simply blows everyone out of the water until you can upgrade your weapons to a decent level. Put a Double-beat on him and he will carry you through early/mid-game hard. The only downside is that he falls off hard towards the end game but this is the case for 90% of characters anyway. Millie gets 2 additional Rune slots early and has multiple A Rune affinities. Nanami belongs to low or low/mid tier. The only good quality is her speed and since you will be stuck with her throughout most of the game u may aswell just slap the spark Rune on her. You could easily reglace her though. Putting Mazus in mid tier is also nuts. Thunder/Blue gate being stuck on him doesn't make him bad since they are amazing Runes and he's got an A affinity with both. Easily the best mage along with Luc. Putting him in mid tier cause u get him late doesnt make sense either, in that case u would put Killey there aswell since he unlocks his third Rune slot at level 55 (even later in the game). My god tier: 1. Sheena (you unlock his third Rune slot fairly early - pre luca) 2. Viktor (he's a powerhouse until lategame, where he is still useful tho) 3. Shiro (Double-beat and he'll sometimes clear out a group of mobs all by himself. Falls off ultra hard around midgame) 4. Luc (arguably the best mage considering how early you get him and you can always have him in your party) 5. Killey (number one late game but gets his third Rune slot around rockaxe/l'renouille which is very effing late. However is still top-tier as a magic user) 6. Rina (unlocks 3 Rune slots early and if it wasnt for her horrible strength stat she could be number one) 7. Mazus (insane damage capabilities but you unlock him late) 8. Chaco, Sid, Hai Yo (3 Rune slots but unlocked late) 9. McDohl (insane all around but its a pain in the ass to go get him in your party) 10. Flik (amazing all around stats, sharpened weapon early, B affinity for lightning. But you sadly dont get to use him much until later when u have better options). The Hero is also insanely good. The Bright shield Rune is enough to heal your party all throughout the game. Blessed Oath has the ability to put Viktor equipped with double-beat and double-strike in berserk which makes him nuts. The ultimate ability does 2k damage and heals the entire party which is just insane.
I agree, shiro carries half the early game by himself. I really like clive, you can stunlock everyone he doesn't kill, for quite little investment. And Sierra, who for some reason dodges everything for me.
My end game team have all the tiers 😅😅😅 Hero, Flik, Camus, Miklotov (These 4 are always in the party) Stallion (due to his fixed rune) The last one is a variety of people e.g Kinnison, Clive, Meg, Rina, Millie, Simone or Tengaar
doing 108 (70ish playable) characters isnt gonna happen in the space for a comment lol, so instead im just gonna tell you the top tier: Riou, you have to use him and why wouldnt you anyways, best healer/good at everything else. Killey/Sheena this is how to break the game, put any combination of double strike, double beat, warrior, killer and rage on their 3 rune slots and watch yourself do upwards of 10k damage lol. Mazus/Luc: best mages basically depends on whether you want a bunch of different runes with luc or just skip to Mazus using a thunder rune anyways. Sierra is also a very good attacker with 2 rune slots, double attack and a permanent thunder rune on her weapon as is viktor/flik but only 1 hit and more balanced stats. Then you can either go mage warriors like Camus/Kahn/Pesmerga or full attack with Georg/Gijimu/Clive/Bob. Sid/Chaco just make it in cus they have 3 rune slots but dont have the stats to back it up, but do have a unite attack.
Stallion should be in the highest tier, since having him in your party lets you walk at double speed on the world map.
Also with a spark rune, even the slowest party members such as Humphrey get to act before the enemy.
Didn't know this. Thanks 👍
one more, you can "RUN" from every enemy you meet. never fail
@@bosskeke4282 and Stallion also comes with a unlimited use escape talisman, which is handy.

Victor - Double Beat, Fury (Rage on weapon)
Flick - Double beat, Thunder Rune
Killey - Double Beat, Double Strike, Fury Runes

Great video. I forgot about half of these characters!
cheers for even attempting this ^^
some things i wanna address though:
command runes and unites (as well as magic) suck compared to auto-attacking in Suikoden 2, not only because they are slower to use but also because you don't get multi-attacks, (regular) critical hits, and iirc they don't factor in weapon runes (rage/thunder runes being an additional 50% elemental damage per normal attack)
- Gantetsu is not low tier, one of the few characters w/ 3 rune slots, the worst one of them but still top 10 material
- Kinnison isn't low tier, he's really good and 1 of the best 2-slot characters
- same goes for Tsai
- Millie isn't low tier, one of the weaker 2-slotters but any character that has 2 rune slots is automatically top half of the roster
- Nina, 2 slots, solid
- Ayda is NOT lower mid, one of the very best 2-slot characters, top 15
- same goes for Futch, almost as good as Ayda
- Sierra is not lower mid, 2 rune slots, solid
- Lorelei is not #31, top 15
- Hai Yo is not #24, he's the weakest of the top 6 but he's still top 6 if Luc isn't used w/ the kindness rune glitch (= giving him 999 ATK, making him the best character)
- none of the 1-slot characters is anywhere close to top tier, Georg being the best but still can't compete w/ the top 15
- defense stats aren't relevant, a decent party will kill enemies in 1 turn, before they even act
@@trinketmage8145 since this is a tier list, the relevant thing is what characters are capable of doing at their max potential
do you NEED a full party of 3-slot characters? absolutely not, even a party of 6 2-slot characters is overkill (3 fast ones might be enough to 1-turn the majority of battles)
but still, a character like Ayda (2 slots, and good stats to get the most out of multi-hitting w/ a decent crit chance) will always be a better party member than Valeria (using her command rune), if you set her up appropriately, same goes for other 2-slot characters w/ similar potential (Kinnison, Futch, Lorelei, ...), there's a good number to choose from too
Double Beat and Double Strike runes are not that hard to get, you only need 6 of each (i like to get more though, to make switching between characters easier)
Fury Runes are a bit harder to get, but you only really need one for each 3-slot character you plan on having in your party
grinding Rage / Thunder runes to put into weapon slots is optional, i'd only bother when planning to down the harder bosses in 1 turn w/ non-top-tier characters
Suikoden 2 really is as simple as that: a little bit of grinding, then speed though all battles by auto-attacking your way to victory ^^
@@trinketmage8145 thing is, a character like Ayda would already be better than a command rune user the moment you give them a Double Beat rune + a common elemental rune in the weapon slot, because multi-hits and crits are a thing, esp. w/ above average stats, and there's bonus elemental damage every hit
Double Beat runes you pretty much get during the first hour of the game, and you fight 6 of the enemy that drop it at a time, so the chance of getting one per fight (which is quick) is much higher than 2%
and elemental runes to put in the weapon are common, doesn't have to be Rage / Thunder runes, common ones still add 25% damage per hit
Double Strike runes can be farmed in Kobold Forest, still pretty early, and probably less work for the majority of people than recruiting all the kobolds ^^ (which is much less beneficial too)
all that is NO comparison to the hypothetical example you gave ^^
there actually is a character like that, somewhat, Luc, who would hypothetically be the best character if you abuse a glitch w/ the Kindness rune (making his ATK 999), but this needs to be maintained and is a bit of work
so i'd put him as a wildcard (like i would an extremely skill-based character w/ potential that not many people could tap into), and would at least mention this when doing a tier list, because, believe it or not, some people WOULD try and do this ^^
fully exploring a game you love w/ all it's mechanics is not a bad thing, i'd actually encourage people to try everything out for themselves, at the end of the day it gives you more options to enjoy the game
Ayda is easy to get iyam, and why wouldn't you recruit her, getting all 108 stars is a major draw of the game, gotta catch them all!
plus she comes w/ Feather, 2 in 1 go!
and it doesn't need to be Ayda specifically, like i said there's a sizable number of good characters to choose from, e.g. Kinnison, or Eilie and Rina, who you get easily and super-early
Valeria or Kasumi is actually a tough choice iyam, half of the players might not even choose Valeria (i didn't until my 2nd run)
and i'd say the game is more about 50h long at a leisurely pace, Suikoden 1 is close to 20h, maybe you're thinking of that?
Best video. Real memories of long nights just running team combos. Get Gremio & McDohl in pt 2 by 100% pt 1.
I have never played this game. That is an insane number of characters. We appreciate all of the hard work you put into these videos.
The characters in the tier list is ONLY the characters you can use in battle.. there are also characters that you use in war (strategy mode) and there are characters who opened up shop & minigames in your base
Shiro is very useful until about half way and is one of the better characters available when you go undercover at the school.
Great video!! I'm surprised Tai Ho was so low. I used him a lot because he was a returning character from the first game and thought he was cool.
My end party so simple.
Rikimaru+Amada unite attack
Kinnison+Shiro unite attack
Hero (focus on support so i attached water and eart rune)
Luc (focus on attack rune so i attached fire, lighting and wind)
Nice list! I always use Flik, Millie and Valeria. The other two slot always change like Kahn/Wakaba/Tengaar/Anita.
i love that you included my fave character Millie ❤
For me; All playable characters units are the best as long as they got extra rune slot for *Double Beat Rune* ; This Rune is the farmable in early game as well
Yeah,, as a player on early game, i’m patiently farm Double Beat Rune at North Sparrow Pass, it takes 2 hours to collect (at least 5 Double Beat Rune) from Rabbit opponent’s
I’m ashamed to say I’m seeing some of these characters for the very first time 😂 didn’t know a lot of them even existed. One of the best games though. Loved it. Still have it stashed away somewhere at home.
I never left Killey out of my line up til the end. Only disappointment is he doesn't have unite attack
Georg has one open rune slot. He comes with a 'killer' rune, which can be removed.
Agree I changed it to fury and he was a beast
Shiro is massively op at end game with a double beat. The goodest boy is just broken with how often he attacks.
Not to mention that co-op attack with his master.
Great stuff!
My dude, Bob is a beast!! Figuratively and literally speaking. He is ass if you don’t transform but if you do… boss battles go by real quick
You really had me at "he suck really fast".
Meg should be a high tier character. When equiped with killer and fury and use trick or miss can deal up to 4k+ damage
Its actually kinda crazy how op the hero is in the game. It was so fun playung this game the first time and feeling like my main charecter was unstoppable
my first playthrough (90s) these character wakaba, shiro, clive, sheena & hero are my core.
I remember having flik in my end game team for Suikoden 2 when I first played it. (Granted I didn't get all of the characters) so I'm planning on going through it again with the save data of Suikoden before I go again.
Wow, I never realized Sheena and few others were that good. Awesome video. I am wondering if the characters will get balanced out in the HD Remaster.
I hope not. It’s pretty fun as is because you choose your difficulty.
Yeah Sheena and Killey are the strongest physical fighters in the game, with 3 free rune slots and free weapon slot.
Of course Sheena is good! He's Lepant's son so you know he beat some skill into him.
@@locloudanerpg As someone who likes to use the pretty girls (Meg & co), I hope so lol
I prefer to bring unique characters rather than strong ones. But this is a good video that tells us which characters have good potential. But I always leveling up all of them tho 😂
Omg, its been around 20 years since I played suikoden 2. Ill have to play it again to even have an opinion 😊😊😊
Most of these are spot on but Zamza with fire sealing on should at least be upper mid tier, the double damage and unlimited rune use for first half of game is pretty stout.
I concur. He'll deal less than a Fury+Double Beat user, but unless you've farmed for years you'll only have the one Fury+Double Beat user. Shoryuken!
Zamza is really great when you get him, and can be used til endgame. I agree completely.
at last! some ppls who value Zamza!!!
idk, based on his design and movesets he's just so nice to watch and use!
not quite overpowered, still gives us the challenge lol!
i mostly used him as my front row hitter. my setup was likely the same.
Zamza, Vincent, Oulan (man i love this girl!)
Kahn, Simone, MC
I'd like to see a tier list for characters in Suikoden 1 (more challenging because there are no busted multi-rune setups) and 3.
No one plays Snoozekoiden 3.
You did Hix Dirty, He has the Exertion Rune which good in long battles. Just my opinion hehe. So far I like your list. Almost same as Mine
I just finished the game again yesterday after so many years. Camus, Georg, Hix, Tengaar and McDohl was my party at the end. I didn't use rune attacks by the end because I liked seeing the high attack damage from having friendship, fury and double beat runes lol.
I always have Shin on my team, just counter his sub par defence with clay guardian and you have a dodging, critical dealing beast. I love Shin.
In my opinions, the characters that have to be in the god tiers are:
1. Kahn -> Strong attack and runes
2. Bob -> Werewolf + double attack + berserk mode are unbeaten, especially when critical attack appears
3. Killey -> strong double attack + double beat + berserk
4. Humphrey -> strong tank, great defense and HP
5. Georg -> strong tank + great attack
6. Pesmerga -> high attack + high defend
7. Gijimu -> an underrated character which also has the same characteristic as killey
Cmiiw.
Based on personal experience, was beating the final boss without using too much runes unless there was dying character. 😇
On the third turn, Bob alone killed the final boss' rune at his werewolf mode + berserk 😅
I used Bob recently for a play through. Never knew he had an affinity for the darkness rune. Slapped that on him and he became an effective back row magic user
Did you try bob unite attack that deal 4x damage? With rabid rune, it produce kinda crazy damage.
@@777rando I gotta try that out
surprisingly for me , the best character if we include glitch , is Rina , when she joins at level 19 , we can bring her to matilda to get 3 rune slots , then when kobold has been unlocked , we can get double beat , double strike , and fury on her , with kindness rune minus affection get her to 999 attack (kill her 10 times with fire lizard)
she can solo every boss starting from our first castle , minus the double strike rune
every first time characters you recruit before fall of muse can get to lv 80 and every lv 20-29 character after that can get to level 64-68 before we recruit matilda knights
Whoa. Do you have a vid of that glitch?!
@@locloudanerpg ua-cam.com/video/e3QU5KzG4uk/v-deo.html not mine tho.. i found it few days ago
@@locloudanerpgtbh im amazed you can make this vid without knowing the glitch 😂 i even know that glitch in my first gameplay where internet wasnt that common. Just by my rpg instinct
No wonder mostly i disagree with the list.
In the video you said phys wins over magic but you put mages that has locked runeslot in the high tier 😅
Edit: oh btw, all the animal chars are great early game. Shiro for example. Their natural STR are high. In the late game tho, they are trash simply because they dont have weapons. No extra STR and no weapon rune. It means alot if you can deal 7k (crit) per hit (means 3,5k extra dmg)
Since this is an old video, i really appreciate the content but maybeeee try to understand the game better since you are making tier list based on their usefulness
I saw Bob and said that dude's going to be on my team until the end of the game, and he was 😂
A pretty good list
take ur +1 good man
No you’re a pretty good list you sexy subber you.
My endgame list
- Front Row
1. Hero - all round best
2. Pesmerga - Magic and damage dealer (especially with darkness rune suit him well 🥰) with high defense if use best equipment
3. George - Tank with high defense if use best equipment also damage dealer
- Back Row
4. Mcdohl - all round best
5. Mazus - best magic dealer with 3 open rune (best for advanced rune combo like rage and thunder and pale gate also) also his last MP rune is twice
6. Kahn, why Kahn? with 3 open rune and best with his resurrection rune, also he is magic and damage dealer especially when critical hits he use his trident from his coat 😱
Forever my favorite characters will always be Victor and Flint.
Killey also looks AMAZING. Like a Final Fantasy 1/3/5 Red Mage made way more badass.
A run with only vampires, werewolf’s, winged characters etc could be cool
Viktor is God Tier until late game when he really starts to fall flat stat wise. Suikoden 1 he was not that great. He had horrible accuracy and is really unusuable without the clone rune. I hated being forced to use him since I then had to choose between Pesmerga and others for my 3rd frontliner.
great video !
Meg has an A rating with the Lightning rune and Wind rune (hits for 40% more damage) so not sure why she's so low on your list.
I feel like giving bonus points to useful characters in war battles should be included in this list. Some of the characters who are in the lower tiers could easily be elevated because of what they can do in the war battles.
Been playing this since the 90's , any character with 3 rune slot are high tiers :)
Eventually yes. But these lists are insane.
@@locloudanerpg Great to hear! These Suikoden lists must take lots of time and effort so I can definitely be patient. I appreciate the reply!
@@locloudanerpg where would you rank jowy if you hack him back into the party?
@@finallife87 Top tier probably
I always go with Nina and Flik to the final battle because their combo attack is one of the best in the game xD (also, she has a very good defense. At least she never dies when is in my party) Luc tho... he dies very quickly. I like his powers (and him hahaha), but it's very difficult to place and to use (he's a mage, but he is uppfront, so you have to choose between making him use magic all the time or just die xD!)
My final team is always: Riou, Tir, Flik, Camus, Miklotov and Nina.
Also, Yoshino is ALWAYS in my party!
My boy Zamza will mop the floor of all bosses in the game because of his magic, very reliable mage, so for me he belong to much higher tier on may list. But agree with majority of your list.
I think you missed Kahn. My endgame team was Hero, Tir, Viktor, Flick, Kahn, and Pesmerga. I didn't realize Killey was*that* good!
Mazus and Pesmerga is a must have in your Party
- Nina is one of my favourite character in Suikoden 2, tbh (also with Sierra and Karen)
- Sierra could be put in back row and focus on her rune
- I give Karen earth-based rune and combining with her own rune
I fully admit that I passed up on Valeria because well, Kasumi (and you get the other ninjas sooner this way). My end game team was Riou(Hero)/Victor/Flik/Mazus/Clive/Eilie. I know Rina's better, but I always had Eilie in my party instead when possible since I just liked her as a character (and still do, of course), lol.
Kasumi is the better choice since Anita does the same thing Valeria does.
Kasumi can lift and throw final boss! Hilarious!
Genshu is my last character (i follow walkthrough)
I prefer to use Rina and Luc as the spell caster over old Mazus.
Where's McDohl?
The octopus actually poses the problem.Because it prevents you from getting all one hundred and eight heroes
Me again ahahahaha
The best team:
Ryou (hero), Georg, Viktor, Sheena, Killey and Rina
Front line: George, humphry, Persmaga?
Back row: hero, usually two mages( usually Tengar and one other.). It's been so long since I made it to end game it's hard to remember lol.
i had no idea Kinnison and Millie wete such bad characters, theyre my late game picks with Flik, and Camus, and Sierra. Didnt really struggle with winning so maybe its more preference than anything else
Camus is a French name. It's pronounced "ka moo"
Did anyone else ever notice how similar he is to Angelo from DQVIII?
it's not pronounced "ka moo" like in the word moot. It's pronounced like this :
ua-cam.com/video/kAm_I8nwjnc/v-deo.html
Millie is the best and strongest character, full stop.
Pesmerga, Georg, Hero, Suikoden 1 hero (yes, you can get him in Suikoden 2) with Viktor/Flik for nostalgia.
My endgame was Hero, Flik, Viktor, Kahn Sierra, Luc
Mainly because I just stick to, mainly, the party I was forced to use at Tinto.
My favorite endgame party was
(Front)Flik, Viktor, Pesmerga
(Back) Hero, McDohl, Ellie
Awesome video but honestly you can beat any boss in this game with any character of your choosing.
My god tier:
1. Sheena (you unlock his third Rune slot fairly early - pre luca)
2. Viktor (he's a powerhouse until lategame, where he is still useful tho)
3. Shiro (Double-beat and he'll sometimes clear out a group of mobs all by himself. Falls off ultra hard around midgame)
4. Luc (arguably the best mage considering how early you get him and you can always have him in your party)
5. Killey (number one late game but gets his third Rune slot around rockaxe/l'renouille which is very effing late. However is still top-tier as a magic user)
6. Rina (unlocks 3 Rune slots early and if it wasnt for her horrible strength stat she could be number one)
7. Mazus (insane damage capabilities but you unlock him late)
8. Chaco, Sid, Hai Yo (3 Rune slots but unlocked late)
9. McDohl (insane all around but its a pain in the ass to go get him in your party)
My final party ended up being Riou, Sheena, Pesmerga, Georg, Mazus, and Khan.
Georg is the strongest one after you give him the "fury" rune.
And then the "double beat" rune.
My L'Renouille strike team:
Front row: Georg, Pesmerga, McDohl/Killey
Back row: Hero, Mazus, Luc
I hope you get to Suikoden 3 eventually since its the only one I've actually played, lol
We’ll get there eventually!
The misspellings tick me off 😅
2024 here. You forgot luca blight. Kidding 🤣
My endgame team was always the hot boys and a dog...
Riou, Shiro, Clive, Sasuke, Camus, Viktor
Nice list, good to see some new Suikoden content. Some of your pronunciations could do with a bit of work though haha. XD
Haha always.
@@locloudanerpg you forgot mcdogol from. S1
Tir Mcdohl is an absolute beast in Suiko II.
My end game team have all the tiers 😅😅😅
Hero, Flik, Camus, Miklotov (These 4 are always in the party)
Stallion (due to his fixed rune)
The last one is a variety of people e.g Kinnison, Clive, Meg, Rina, Millie, Simone or Tengaar
doing 108 (70ish playable) characters isnt gonna happen in the space for a comment lol, so instead im just gonna tell you the top tier: Riou, you have to use him and why wouldnt you anyways, best healer/good at everything else.
