After the recent app update, these are now hands-down the best lights you can get that aren't a complete custom build. App still has some usability issues but after futzing around a bit you can get it to do most what you want to do. Took a year of hating this light to finally see it reach its full potential
Great light. I mainly use the Auto mode, but the new Pro mode version is very customizable. The colors of my plants and fish looks great 🙂
Installed mine today, Bluetooth plays up at times but it works and it does look really good. Tank looks alot clearer. I've uploaded some clips on my UA-cam showing how it looks and the storm effect as well.
I got a couple of Aquasky 2.0s for my 60 gallon tank and I couldn't be happier. Programming it is a breeze and I love all of the different settings. I haven't had any issues growing high light needed advanced, aquatic plants with the Aquasky. I absolutely love the nighttime, plant and weather settings. It's an awesome light for any tank and any type of aquarist from beginner to advanced. I also have a Fluval C4 filter on the tank, which I highly recommend!
Thanks for making my life easier, Fluval!
Complete agree with the Fluval c4 filter best hang on back filter out imo
I just got mine for my 65g.. Can't install till Xmas but I'm sure looking forward to it. Thanks for the help
Im thinking about getting one of these. Do they all come with just one row of LEDs regardless of the size you buy?
@@caprisun2k1 Hi..Yes 1 line but loads of leds. Worth them money does everything for you.. huck up on UA-cam how it works etc.. you won't regret it
Love them I have them on my tanks and birds
I jus picked one of these up for my 55, by far the best light all round that I've ever purchased. The app has had no issues on my s8 so far
hi I have a 57x24x24 is this light good enough for it

I just bought this light a few days ago and I absolutely love it! I got the 27 watt 36-48 inches on my 55 gallon bow front and it fits perfectly! So nice to not have a hood on finally and the colors OMG!! My tank is an entirely new tank because of this light 😍❤☺
Does this light fit on top of the 45g premium bow front kit?
Can you still buy the perplex to put on top of the tank
Thanks .Ok i will go for marine 3.0
Nice LED light
Will my plants do good with this product (aquasky) or do you recommend the “Plant 3.0” light fixture ?
The reason I’m asking is because I purchased the aquasky a couple of days ago but I’m not sure if I should return it for the plant 3.0
Alberto, the answer really depends on the type of plants you plant to keep and the dimensions of your aquarium. In general, the Aquasky will provide sufficient lighting for low to mid light level requiring plants. If you plant on keeping high light, fast growth species that typically do much better with CO2 injection then we would certainly recommend the 3.0 fixture.
@@fluval but what about low light coral? Like zoos and coraline alage
Can you connect 2 light units at the same time so you can control them both with just one setting? Also for a 2x2x2ft aquarium would you recommend using 1 or 2 light units?
You can save your desired program and then export it to each light unit when you connect to each one individually, they will then operate on the same program.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased the Aquasky on 14th April, and the Bluetooth connection is rather temperamental. I have since sent an email to Support, however, seriously considering replacing it with something else. PS: the options offered for light scheme are great, just need to offer a better Bluetooth 'connection'.
They should do it so it's through wifi not bluetooth.
Can you use this on the old aquasky light's too
I'm planning on buying 2 aquasky units for a pair of fish tanks, would be able to control both units with just the app or will I need the remote/do it manually?
The Fluval LED light units to allow you to connect via bluetooth to downloade programs, either pre-set or your own creations. Once you download the program and export it there is no longer a need to stay connected. Should you experience a power outage you will need to reconnect to re-establish the correct time as per your mobile device.
Fluval is there a way to purchase and use a physical remote for the aquasky 2.0, or is it only compatible with Bluetooth?
Would hate to have to return this, but i just can't stand needing my phone for it, as cool as it is, it's an inconvenience for me unfortunately, and especially my father who can hardly use his flip phone
What you can do is ensure the AquaSky is in manual mode and simply connect the unit to a simple mechanical timer.
Hello, Fluval!
Is it possible to use multiple lamps for one tank and control/program them at the same time?
Question 2: Are the settings retained in the event of a power failure? Is there a battery?
Hi there, excellent questions! You can control multiple lights on one aquarium although they will work independently from each other meaning that you will need to connect to each one and program them manually. At the moment, our app does not allow you to merge your lights together to be able to control them all through one preset. In the event of a power failure, the LED will shut off. Once the power comes back on it will resume its preset from midnight (12:00) until the smart device used to program the light is reconnected to it. We hope this helps! 😊
@@fluval Thanks for the answer. As a programmer I'm sure the implementation of such features will not be too difficult.
Please make the perfectionists like me completely happy, ask your techical perfectionists for some perfect work ))
Just received my Aquasky yesterday and the product looks great. One thing I missed from the Auto programming screen is the ability to turn of the lights completely during the night. Is that something that could be added via firmware update or app update?
The just released update does include sleep mode within Auto, this will turn off the lights completely.
Fluval Aquatics perfect timing! Just updated the firmware and now looking forward to a perfect 24 hour lighting cycle
I can't get the color cycle working. It looks like just white + purple stuck on and doesn't change. I was assuming color cycle would be a one touch button and then cycle through all the colors with white off just like color cycle on anything else LED RGB. What am I missing here? Please help if can, thanks! EDIT: It seems that it might be cycling between purple and blue but it's hard to tell with the whites on. I hope something is wrong because RGB full color spectrum cycle means colors without the white lights on and ALL colors not just purple and blue,... any help is appreciated!!!
+Fluval Aquatics is it possible to replace the existing light fixture in the 9 or 15 gallon Flex with this Aquasky? I know it’s already included with the new Flex 32.5
Unfortunately not, the dimensions would not allow that.
Wonder how well it works for bio cube reef set up
Once the light comes on at sunrise, can the light intensity be changed to mimic cloud as part of the daily program or is it constant.
Weather effects are denoted as dynamic effects (including varying levels of cloud cover) and can be engaged at specific times and days in your program.
What is a good light for african cichlid ? Especially peacocks so their color pop out more. Will this be a good one or finnex stingray 2?
We have an African cichlid preset program within the app.
Will these fit the retro fit aqua sky fixtures? On the Roma for instance?
European models do come with T5 water proof socket adapters for the extension brackets.
Hi. What percentage intensity would you have your lights for low to medium plants? I guess it depends on the wattage of the light.
This is just to ensure no algae grows.
A good place to start would be at 50%
@Fluval Aquatics I'm planning on getting the Fluval Aquasky 2.0 14550 12W version for my Dennerle Scapers tank 35L (40cm). I sent an email asking questions but i don't think they read it properly all they said was "yes it will fit".
I asked them would it be considered has High, medium or low light.
Also the colour temp says 3000K - 25000K what is the colour temp for the 12W version?
The Aquasky 2.0 is generally considered as medium light - it is suitable for plants such as Anubias, Bolbitis, Cryptocoryne, Echinodorus, Microsorum, Vallisneria, etc. The colour temperature for the 12W unit is 3,000K - 25,000K!
Hi! Is this the light I would buy to add to the lid of my Fluval Flex 32.5 gallon tank? If not, which is the light I would buy? Thanks!
Please use this link to view the Flex 32.5 LED lighting unit (item#14549): www.fluvalaquatics.com/ca/product/aquasky-bluetooth-led-for-flex-aquarium-kit-32-5-us-gal-123-l/
Can this be fitted to the inside of a lid of the tank? I have an aquatropic 120 litre tank, which came with a hood and a standard light, I want to replace the light with something better as it’s a heavily planted tank and I need more light. Will this light be able to be fitted inside the hood? Or can you recommend me a better light that will suit me?
The AquaSky is IP67 rating so it is designed to tolerate humid damp conditions, it can be used in the hood when positioned above the waters' surface.
I have 2.0 aquasky lights in my Fluval Flex 32. My tank is heavily planted. What light intensity should I use for each color?
Hi Dan! Every tank is different, so there's not really one setting that will work for every aquarium. The plants you keep, the fish you keep, the fertilizers you use, your water change frequency, your tap water, it will all change the lighting settings that are best for your tank. We recommend starting with one of the preset profiles and making adjustments to best suit your particular setup!
hi, i was referring to the led diodes, are they standard output or high output diodes? thanks
Hi Jen, we're not sure how one defines a "standard" vs. a "high output" diode. Fluval LEDs use a large number of closely packed diodes in order to provide powerful, uniform lighting. This is advantageous to other LEDs which have fewer diodes, as this usually creates dark spots in the aquarium.
Newbie here. So how do you cover the tank with this type of light? I’m used to a fluorescent bulb inside a full coverage hood.
Hi Mark! Fluval LEDs can be mounted inside an aquarium hood, just like the old fluorescent bulbs! They can also be positioned above the aquarium, with the tank being covered either by glass, plexiglass, a screen or nothing at all!
Is it possible to connect these up to an echo dot device or perhaps an idea for the future?
At the current time the light unit connects via bluetooth to a mobile device. Yes, it is an idea for the future, there are some others we are considering as well.
Hi! It works with the lid of the 57 l Flex aquarium? Or only without a lid? Thank you!
Hi there! If you'd like to upgrade the lighting on your Flex 57 L aquarium to an Aquasky 2.0 LED, you'll need to remove the lid or displace it in some way.
Does this light have firmware on-board to run the schedule or does it run from the mobile device and need to be always in range for it to work?
Hi, Great question! Once programmed, the LED will follow the programmed configuration and does not need to be connected or in range of your mobile device. 😊
Hey why cant we use the same weather modes on the plant led they’re very similar and i am sure most people would love to have that feature considering its more expensive for the plant version.
I’ve got a Eheim Vivaline LED 240 which is 4ft long. Looks like I got a choice of 30w 99cm-130cm or 33w 115cm-145cm. Would you recommend getting the longer sized one to give maximum light?
Hello Willey, great question! A longer LED (115-145cm) would be best as it would prevent you from creating any shaded area in your aquarium. By using the shorter LED, you would need use the bracket extensions which would leave shaded areas on both sides of your aquarium which is not ideal in planted tanks! 😊
@@fluval thanks for your reply sadly I bought the largest one today but the clips would not fit into my eheim vivoline 240. I’m gonna have to take it back to the shop, does the more expensive plant version of the light have the same sized bracket at the end? The aquasky is about 2mm too
large to fit into the area under the sliding lid

The Aquasky is just an Amazing Lamp. I use it for my Tropical Vivarium and i love the weather effects. It would be so awesome if we could set up more dynamic weather effects for each day.
For example:
Monday: 8.30-8.31 cloudedThunderstorm 10.00-14.00 Cloudy weather 22.00-22.05 night thunderstorm
And for the next day the possibility to change the time shedule.
I am matching the weather effects with my rain/misting system so it would be super cool to get more options here :)
im thinking about buying the Plant 3.0. Will this lamp also get weather effects in future time? I need more Lumen and different color settings so im thinking about mixing those two lights.
We hear you. It is not in our immediate plans to add dynamic effects to the 3.0 series.
@@fluval Sad to hear but thanks for the reply !!!!
Does this light have sound effects such as to go with the thunderstorms etc?
Hi! There are no sound effects associated with Aquasky LEDs.
Is there a physical on/off switch on the light itself? I would like to get this for a tank at my parents house but my dad can barely operate a phone and would not use an app
No there is no physical switch, however it is fully compatible with a basic mechanical timer.
@@fluval thanks for getting back to me. That's too bad. My friend got one of these and it's a very nice light but wouldn't work for the tech illiterate. I plan on getting a planted 3.0 for a upcoming tank of mine.
Is it possible to run two lights on the same tank using the same programming? My tank is a cube so I’m gonna need two
Yes it is, you can save the program which will mean that you will find it in Export. From Export you can send it to which ever light unit you have connected to.
Fluval Aquatics thanks for the reply 👍🏼 I’m gonna try them out
Any sign of the app update coming that has been promised for quite some time?
Why do you not have those effects on the marine 3.0 :(
Fluval need to sort out quality in products, 125 Roma 6months I leaky lid part drops on side of tank.
Fluval flex light failed within 2 months then controller failed for lighting. 5 months old rear filtration part seal failing now plastic part moves a lot . Customer support in uk are rubbish! Ip67 rating lights in the Roma tank but water still gets in the light !
I didn't get the plant version, will this one still work with my plants?
It really depends on which plant species and what light levels they have been raised under.
I have a canino aquarium and the original light is 118cm accross but has the lids that slip into the light would this light work?
Please visit fluvalaquatics.com to review the sizing for max coverage of what open area you have on the canopy.
Could the app & light support more than 1 dynamic setting? I want to mimic the local weather
Good idea! I have zebra pleco and this would be great if it also tied in with temperature control!!!!!
Will it fit under sliding lids on my Eheim Vivaline aquarium?
You can find all available specs for the aquasky line here: fluvalaquatics.com/us/aquasky-led/
Hi, I'm considering installing aquasky or plant growth units in a couple of large vivariums; probably two units in each.
The vivariums are 6 foot tall, so I want to assess the benefits of this for plant growth.
Do you have any technical sheets you could send to me, showing the PAR ratings at various distances you could send me please?
These units are sold and marketed for aquarium, as such there is some PAR data available but only up to 18 inches in depth. For the purposes of a 6ft tall vivarium you would be well advised to purchase an inexpensive but effective PAR meter and then have the capability of measuring values anywhere in your vivarium.
@@fluval Is it possible to get the PAR ratings at 12 and 18 inches please? This would enable me to compare with other LED lighting units.
Keen to upgrade my Vincenza 180. Is the 83.5 - 106.5cm the correct size to get? And will this fit directly under the hood, into the flourescent socket?
Absolutely! That is the correct size to get.
@@fluval Thanks guys
Will these fit into a eheim vivaline 180 tank? 1m long
I was going to ask if it would fit the vivaline 240 lol 1.2m long
Hi
Recently received the aquasky as the light on the fluval Roma 125 has stopped working as told my fluval its replaced with the 14551 which I ordered, but its to narrow as I have back lid, the light in the middle, followed with the front cover, this measures 77cm long by 9cm depth. This is a wide one.
The one I have received is narrow the length is 54cm (but I had not pulled out the bracket but noticed the gap of each side one bracket is pulled out. Depth 4.05cm so you can see the difference, this would not be a direct replacement, please advice if its a direct replacement it is not wide enough. I have taken pictures to show the difference should you wish to see it. So rather confused.
Hi Anna, please contact our customer support team about this, they'll be happy to help you out! You can reach them here: fluvalaquatics.com/uk/contact-us/
@@fluval hi thanks for your reply, this is the contact form I used to send a question so cannot understand doing it again
Is the light strong enough for a 30 inch deep tank
Garry, it depends on what plants you are keeping, if you are seeking to grow plants? For general illumination, yes. As for plants, at 30 inches given the power level of the AquaSky you would me better off sticking to lower light level plants with some mid light level plants likely doing well as they adapt.
Hello,
I would like to know where I can buy the original pull out bracket that usually comes with a single lamp.
Since the fluval flex 123 l auqarium already has a built-in lamp but this has NO bracket (the one to extend) I wanted to buy another one

update i got it working.. they had to do a hard reset on my phone .. there was something that a update did that caused the bluetooth to not work correctly .. it is now working just fine.. i would like to see a update added to the software that would allow you to set how long the night time is on.. the moon does not stay up all night:) also better fading on and off ..also the blue lights even turned down to 1 percent are still very bright there seems to be no difference between 10% and 1%.. other then those it works great .. also what would be the right color settings for plant growth?
It is somewhat difficult to notice the difference between 1 and 10% as in fact it is relatively minimal. Chlorophyll responds to peaks in the red and blue spectrum, we suggest looking at those curves and mimicking that spectrum when programming your light unit.
Can this unit be used with a hood over the top of it or what’s the best way? I like the idea of an open top tank buy afraid my fish will jump out
Both are acceptable given the IP67 rating. Leaving a 1.5 inches of space from the top and using floating plants with species that are less likely to jump make open top an option, although a glass top is always safest.
you can also buy "egg crating" plastic that is open but also prevents fish from jumping out, found in most hardware stores in 2'x4' sheets
I have a 6ft tank can I use 2 and control them together or would I have to control them sepratley
Hi Justin, you can't control two lights simultaneously, but you can set both lights to operate with the exact same settings so that they function in unison!
Hi, I'm unable to find any of these lights available in UK can you advise? also, how many separate lights can you control on the app? I will need x2 48" on tank and 1x 24" on sump.
Hi Dan, the new Aquasky LED is currently being distributed in stores in the UK. It's a matter of days until you can buy one. You can control as many lights possible with the Fluval SmartApp - there is no limit.
Awesome! thanks for the reply
available at pets at home now
I'm about to buy a Roma 90,I've heard that the LED lights are not wonderful, will this light slot straight in where the stock light went?
Yes, it will! A Plant 3.0 unit will also fit.
@@fluval Thanks for taking the trouble to reply to this old post.
If I can get the size of the aqua sky but the LEDs of the fresh and plant... I'd be VERY happy.
Can anyone help me I have a saltwater tank FOWLR and I have this lighting. Originally tank was freshwater. What percentage should each color lighting be? I don't want algae growing out of control bwcause lighting is not correct. Bit I am not sure what I should have each color set at pecentage wise. Thanks
There is no specific setting given the unlimited combinations of what could be kept in most aquariums. That said, run all blue, violet, cold white at 100% and reduced warmer tones to 50% and evaluate from there. Also important to remember to address all water quality parameters when being concerned about algae growth, nitrate, phosphate and regular organic waster export via regular partial water changes as well as proper consistent protein skimmer maintenance.
can this light achieve a white/bluish 12000k spectrum? do these 6500K leds promote algae?
Hi Jen! Yes, the light is capable of achieving a white / blue spectrum to help make coral colors pop! We have not found any blue LEDs to promote algae.
Can you attach this somehow with a lid that fits over the tank ? Because this sits on the edge so the lid would not fit on ???
If the aquarium canopy you have has a removable light strip then you should be able to choose a model that would sit over that space.
what light would you suggest for a planted tank that is 47 x17 x 25in?

Hi
I have a 48"Lg mahogany wood purpose made cabinet glass fish tank that I want to upgrade from my old T8 tube lights to Led.
Can I bracket screw fix Fluval led light strip unit to understand of wood lid top?
Hi there! You can install Fluval LEDs in that fashion, but we recommend leaving a small space to allow the heat generated by the light to escape! 👍
Can someone help me to set marine 10000k spectrum with the lamp? How much color % sets to get 10000k Color?
How many of this light I need for a 36 front bow comunity tank I have variety of fish and plants
Hi, one LED should do. If you have a heavily planted aquarium with medium to high light demanding plants, a Fluval Planted 3.0 may be better for you! 😊
Can I combine my two lights together ? instead of having to individually change the colors
Hi! You can save a profile and have both lights running on it. That way, they'll operate with the exact same settings!
Is this one better for a African Cichlid tank or the plant one ? I see the plant one has a lake Malawi mode does this aquasky 2.0 have that ?
Hi Leo, both are great choices! The Plant Spectrum Bluetooth LED is a more powerful light and as you mentioned, has a Lake Malawi preset profile. The Aquasky Bluetooth LED offers weather effects and is usually more than sufficient for African rift lake aquariums, which typically don't feature plants!
@@fluval so what settings you recommend for a African Cichlid tank ? For the aquasky 2.0
It depends what sort of lighting effect you want to create, but something like white 50%, blue 50%, red 75%, and green 25% might be nice!
@@fluval it’s for placidochromis jalo reef breeding group they get a nice blue color too them

Love the idea Is there any plans to bring out an upgrade with this system for the flex tanks
We are always listening, thank you for the question. TBD.
Same question here. I keep hearing horror stories about the stock light on the flex, which has made me apprehensive about buying one.
How long time is recommended leave on the night mode ( blue light)
Hi there, normally an hour or two of blue light is recommended. 😊
So if you already have the original aquasky and want the Bluetooth one you basically gotta buy the light again ?
Yes, if you want bluetooth controlled operation.
Fluval Aquatics ummmm nahhh im good
Fred Smith I just turn mine off and on. A timer is great but I interact a bit more with my tank if I manually do some things. I do automatic feed to put growth on my fish thou
Fred Smith yeah, just more automation. everything else is the same. just reboxing a bit older tech
@Fred Smith are you sure it works like that? mmm
Best app set up for planted tanks?
Plant Boost! Found in Export.
Can you use them if you have a hood on the tank
Henry, that would depend on the type of hood you have, larger canopies might offer the room depending on the model and type. That said, these units are IP 67, meaning they can be placed in humid environments as they are protected against humidity and water intrusion.
Can you give me good setting for nano I'm new to this
We have no specific spectrum settings unless you are selecting from pre set options. You can adjust your spectral settings based on if you have live plants or not as well as the different colors of fish you may have to enhance their coloration. If you have live plants for example dialing in more blue and red spectrum will help the plants, you should experiment to see what gives best growth and condition based on the plants you have, among other variables.
Will this be okay for the fluval spec 16?
The Spec 16 is equipped with a very capable light unit within the kit. The fit of an aquasky would not be perfect.
Aquasky 2.0 why don't I see Any presets or way to load presets only an export button..
Preset programs are within Export, tap on export.
When will the light be available in germany?
It should be available at this time, you may check by contacting the German site of Fluvalaquatics.com and selecting the customer support page, our team would be please to assist you.
Will this light grow plants like java fern and Anubis....or other low light plants?
Yes absolutely, tank depth being reasonable of course.

Is there any chance that you can get the weather effects ( cloudy time ) to play through the light cycle for my Fluval Plant 3.0 light?
It's not possible to use dynamic effects with the Plant 3.0 LED at the moment, but we've forwarded your comment to our app development team! 👍
@@fluval thank you for that! Would it be possible to get the percentages for each light that you have on the light if you switch it on right out of the box. I really like the appearance of that light and I can’t quite nail it using the app… I’d like to programme the light cycle with dimmer versions of the light which it gives.
@@fluval it really doesn’t need to be anything too fancy… just the cloud cover / moving darkness would be perfect.
It'd be nice to have a light that allows you to adjust the direction and/or angle of dispersion.
The angle of dispersion is 120 degrees, by lifting or lower the light slightly you are in fact adjusting it to address area coverage preferences.
What's the difference between this and the plant spectrum 3.0?
Please visit fluvalaquatics.com in order to review the specs and related information for both, basically the 3.0 is more powerful and offers aquarium lighting capability for plant growth that exceeds the Aqua Sky, for full information please visit our Fluval Website as mentioned.
Can I use this light for Anemones?
Anemones in general require strong lighting, at minimum a marine 3.0 over a relatively shallow aquarium would be recommended, not the AquaSky.
Does this have a pro mode like the plant 3.0
Yes it does!
Who makes the clear water intake for the external filter?
Please explain, we do not understand the question as this video is on the Aquasky LED series.
Fluval Aquatics

Does it have an onboard clock?
The Bluetooth LEDs use their connection to the FluvalSmart app to keep time.
Question is can you link 2 of them together to work as 1 setting.
Each unit is individually recognized as part of bluetooth protocol. You can always enter the same values and times for each unit and as such they would operate identically.
@@fluval find away to link as 1 operating unit pls then I would be intrested. Or at least 1 unit under the same bluetooth setting but 2 separate controllers.
Or even better use a wifi controller and have the ability to link them together in the controller. Wifi control would be the best option.
Our apologies, you are able to have two units or more of the same exact model utilize the same program. Once a program is created, identify and save it. It will then appear in export, when connecting the next identical light unit the program will appear in export, select it and then select export, it will now run the second identical unit with the same program.
Is it ok for 20 gallon soft coral tank ?
Yes it should be ok, however if you have higher light requiring polyps for example, such as star polyp, the marine 3.0 would be preferable.

Liveaquaria.com has them for sale. I just bought one earlier this week. This thing is awesome!!
Is this light gud for freshwater aquarium with live plants?
Yes it is, do make sure to factor in aquarium depth as this line versus the 3.0 series is not as powerful. For low to mid light level plants when situation on top of the aquarium (not suspended above) we and many others have had success in growing a number of plants in this category.
Fluval plant light 3.0 or aquasky 3.0 which one is better for a planted aquarium?
Ultimately the 3.0 Plant is the more capable lighting unit for plants, more power (which you may adjust) and specific LEDs that are beneficial to plant growth.
How can I get one for a 125 gallon tank since they don’t make a size for it its 72’
We recommend using two 3-foot units for tanks of that length!
