i just bought the fluval plant lighting. I have some high light plants I wanted to give better care to, but I also have several dwarf anubias and java ferns. Will the plant spectrum light fry these lower light level plants while it blasts the high level plants?
Good video Will. I have 3 of the Fluval Aquasky 2.0's and have found them to be quite adequate for my setups. They are indeed very good lights and love the fact I can use the app to really dial in the settings.
Great review! You mention having the plant 3.0 at 50% intensity, is that same for all its color spectrums? I have the mega flex 32 Gallon tank that included the aquasky 2.0 and I’m considering adding a second light bar to it, or switching to the plant 3.0. Plants are mainly Amazon swords, tiger lotus, Madagascar lace, windelov Java, and Anubis. I’m also running the light with a siesta programmed to fight some algae. Any advice you can share?
hey bud , which light would you suggest for a 40 gallon breeder no CO2 set up with stem plants like ludwigia, rotala , cabomba , hygrophila , Telanthera and plants like anubias and java ferns.. would aquasky 2.0 do the trick
Aquasky should be a good bet and should work for those plants. But if you can afford it I would go with the 3.0. Just gives you more options if you decide to switch things up in the future. Without co2 though you would be running it on a lower setting.
I own both lights, and they are both great lights. My only problem is that the Aquasky randomly turns on and stays on at night when my fish should be resting in total darkness. I am in pro mode and have the light programmed to stay off at night, but it randomly turns on at different times of the night for no reason at all. Very frustrating.
Hello, quick question, my aquarium an Aquatlantis Splendid 100 (100x40x60 cm) will be delivered in a few weeks. The tank comes with LED lighting that can only be controlled with an extra expensive controller. Now I would like to replace this LED lighting with fluval aquasky 2.0 or plant 3.0 because of the app for controlling everything. It will be an amazon tank with back to nature 3D background, rounded stones, wood, ... and some echinodorus plants, Hydrocleys nymphoides, ... so not fully planted. More river/blackwater. The lumen of the aquasky 2.0 is a lot less in comparison with the plant 3.0 and the aquatlantis LED but I think it's not as important. What would you recommend? I still come from the age where I used T8 lamps :)
Im not sure I fully understand your question, but I use a glass lid to limit evaporation, provide some insulation, and prevent debris from getting into the tank. Using a lid is more of personal preference but I almost always run one for the reasons listed. The light is powerful and with an unbalanced tank can easily turn your tank into an algae farm if on high. But that's where the adjustability comes into play, you can dial down the light if algae is a problem, or if it isn't then you can ramp it up! 🌱
@Aquarium Plant Lab no no that answered it! Thanks. I just have seen a number of tank videos and they do not use lids so was wondering how having a lid changes things up (sorry if confusing lol). Do have another question. What would you recommend for tank brand? Looking for something that's roughly 28x15x18. And around 32 (+/-2) gallons.
I am planning to buy an AquaSky 2.0, but I have heard that you can only select one effect profile (thunderstorm, clouds etc.). Is it not possible to select random effects on different days of the week?
In my experience the 2.0 is actually more cool white and doesn’t have as warm of a color to it or as much adjustment in that area. The 3.0 has the ability to be more yellow but also adjusted to be more cool if you want. The color the camera picks up from lights is not a great representation of what you will see with your eyes as the camera tries to correct colors. Hope that makes sense.
Yup the carpet is nothing but S. Repens. I have never experienced any melt issues with it personally. Substrate is organic potting soil capped with a large grain sand.
What length do you recommend for a 20 gallon long? Should the LEDs span across the entire surface? I ask because I have the same 20 gallon long and I bought the 24-34 inch fluval 3.0 and the lights don’t span across the entire surface. Thinking of buying a riser for these lights
@@anthonykontos7931 Thats a bummer! I would definitely reach out to Fluval, I believe they have pretty good customer service and a warranty if I can recall correctly.
Hey man, haha nothing different really. Been together for 6 years, getting married was really just more of a formality 👍, fun experience but we are back to normal now haha.
I go with 6 because it basically eliminates algae. Feel free to go longer but you’ll want to turn the light intensity down. The more hours of light the more likely you’ll get algae. 8 and 10 hours is also common.
It’s a planted tank light, there’s a link in the description to it if you want to check it out. They might have another version for marine but all three lights are definitely for planted tanks.
Dave's aquarium thoughts on UA-cam has a video that has the link to purchase a 3D printed mount for rimmed tanks and the weird thing is that I found it tonight a few hours before seeing yours...I know nothing about the price etc. Since I was looking for the risers for my 3.0 . Hope all is going great and soon as I get the $ I'm gonna place my order and hopefully it might have a sticker for the new logo ?????????⚗️🧪🧫
Thanks for the suggestion, Ill have to checkout that channel! I don't have any new stickers yet! Something I would like to fix though :) Thanks for thinking of supporting the channel 😃 🌱 🧪

I love the fluval app. I have the aquasky on my 75, and the plant on my 65. The build quality and adjustability is on point!
They need to add a way to download and share light settings

The aquasky is good enough for any low-medium light plant. The plant 3.0 can be used for high light plants as well.
I use the Fluval 3.0’s, exclusively.

So what's the main difference? is the Plant 3.0 just slightly more brighter?
Significantly more bright because of many more LEDs

I do not! Have you? Thoughts?
I saw you have a cover.. how does the light work in regards to algae and condensation? Thanks for the video!

I don’t believe so. I just stick with sunrise and sunset personally.
Can you put a timer on this light?
Timer comes with the app
can fluval aquasky grow freesh water or just marine plants?
I’ve grown lots of fresh water plants with mine!
2.0 looks yellow is there a way to set it so it's not so yellowish ?

is that s.repens carpet? do you injecting co2? i heard s.repens can melt suddenly even in stable planted tank do you ever experience that?
Yup the carpet is nothing but S. Repens. I have never experienced any melt issues with it personally. Substrate is organic potting soil capped with a large grain sand.
I wish you would’ve turned on the other two models we could see a comparison

What is the best? Can you Recommend please
