I love the breakdown of this rudiment as well as the explanation of those that can not or have trouble playing soft flams and the dynamics noted on the 2nd note. Have some fun with the flams. Johns the best!
Not gonna lie man.... your flams are REAAAAAAALY consistent. To play them as open as you do and still maintain the same space inbetween them shows how skilled of a drummer your are. Thats some real vet stuff right there
Wow. What he says 3:36 almost doubled my traditional grip invert speed AND made it feel a lot better. Never had issues with inverts until I started playing trad and now I can finally feel myself making progress on them!
This guy knows what he's talking about, and how he breaks down the dynamics, technique and finesse is great. The only problem I see with his instruction is, and he does this on all his videos. He doesn't layout the actual sticking slowly and then move onto the rest of his instruction. That's amateur hour as far as any type of instruction goes. He needs to watch other instructional videos teaching drum techniques. I can figure out what he's teaching, but I'm a schooled player, there's alot of players out there that are not schooled. Like I said, he does this on all his videos Don't understand why he doesn't know this

Gee,what a relief,I thought I was playing it wrong for these past 55 years .

See my imaginary string? Priceless, and I'm totally stealing that line when teaching. I'll footnote.

" you have to always know where your down beat is" awesome advice!
cool. i had no idea what a flamacue was, i just played them because i heard other people do that off set and its really cool.
Thank you- great lesson.
This is a difficult rudiment for me to play for some reason. Still learning it well.
his flams are so fast they sound like rolls at times and it makes it hard to tell if it is a roll or a flam.
i agree
Is there 1 or 2 accents in this rudiment
Imma make a video based on a flamacue next
Pretty cool that this is the only rudiment made in the US. Seems like a patriotic duty to be able to play this flawless lol
All these lessons are great, but he doesn't always break down the actual stinking.
Next one to work on!
Snare drum?
i thought he was playing the 2017 blue devils metamorph intro
BD ‘17 snare intro is based on “Legend of the One-Eyed Sailor”, and by extension, “Crazy Army”.
so damn cool!
Great
sorta sounds like the blue devils intro
👍
Nice
it's on vicfirth.com
i have a pair of vic firth drum sticks
I can do it fast
