Jimmy is also about his journey of dealing with his mom. That one covers Maynard coming to grips with the troubled past and moving forward. That should be listened to before 10000 days/wings for marie. Great videos.
I love that track, the lyrics are a lot more subtle that this or Marie, took me a long time to realise what it was actually about. Thanks for watching!
I think Rach picking up on the heels thing is very true...I have only ever seen one other guitarist/performer who could do this and it was one of the girls from Veruca Salt, I was working the gig and she did the entire thing in heels, 45 mins odd...also Paz doing the hairbun thing, one of the most iconic clips in modern music I reckon, massively cool!
Three bands, three different styles, same feels As I waited for 10000 days , I followed Maynard threw APC, like I said same feels. Then Puscifer came along , may I suggest a Puscifer track to complete the triad of greatness , so many to choose from but, my go to is “Mama sed ” live version.. so good
The symbols on the album are a font they invented. It's 1:1 to the English alphabet. I'm not sure about the CD but I had the cassette version and it had the lyrics written in that font.
Context, means everything when listening to this track. Maynard exposed himself, and allowed us to empathize with his anger toward his mother’s condition. His youth and naivety are replete with vulgarity, and who could argue against it, “it’s his mother, after all!”……Yes, Billy and Paz add so much to this track, and I’m certain they feel fortunate to help Maynard get his angst off his chest, and just vent his frustration with how “God” seemingly let himself and his mother, down…Maynard’s later work demonstrates some growth, and possibly understanding, that his mother’s struggles weren’t “specific” to her, but simply a condition of being human….Great song, by some awesome musicians. It’s not often that an artist will display his/her personal life to the world…. Mad respect to Maynard, for sharing his story….
Great perspective. I get really tired of when I make similar comments about seeing Maynard's spiritual growth and it never fails to get some probable atheists that are adamant he hates God. I'm not saying he's a Christian. Just that it's clear his position has become more spiritual.
@@LanceThompsonKssooner I totally agree with you. Maynard is no different from the rest of us. His “perspective” evolves with more “life experience”. We’re all jaded in our youth, and think we know the answers…Time, and experience, humbles us into a deeper “understanding”….
It's not only his moms faith, it's more that people in her church basicly told her, that if she (Judith) had more faith/was more devoted to god, she wouldn't have to suffer. Which is fucked up and I would be angry too
Looking at your shirt, I looked up Mahavishnu Orchestra and listened to 'Birds of Fire' track and also 'Meeting of the Spirits/You Know You Know'. I must say both of them sounded like the band was stoned when they wrote them. Can you suggest a song that may change my mind?
@@RDMusicExchange Sounded the same until 3 minutes in, then became enjoyable. At 10 minutes it got weird again. I listened to the Lost Trident Sessions. It was 40 minutes long and I must say I wasn't interested enough to listen to the entire piece.
Special request: She would love “ORESTES” LIVE at REDROCKS! It’s an unbelievably amazing performance and the song is all about Greek mythology and shows a different side of Maynard. Cheers from Texas!! Link here ua-cam.com/video/OXkhZ8IxFSQ/v-deo.html
It was 18 years ago mate, and she'd never heard it before the gig. So, no, she doesn't remember specific songs form the gig, just that she enjoyed it. Thanks for watching, have a great day.
Fun fact...the music video was directed by David Fincher who also directed Fight Club and Se7en among other movies.

I'm looking forward to showing Rach 10,000 to show the change/growth Maynard experienced towards this situation.
